I like 52mm wheels as well. It's what I have on my regular set up at the minute. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go bigger or not on my deerman shape, which is going to be my more old school set up. I will be skating curbs with it, but might be skating my friends mini ramp, too, so might get some bigger wheels. Just not sure yet.
Hope you decide to continue, I'm digging your content! I wanna try a bigger board, but I like flip tricks so I'm nervous at the weight. I used to ride an Element twig in high school 😄
Thanks, I appreciate the kind words! I think I game for another 10, just playing it by ear really, if it is still fun I’ll keep going. Bigger boards I find more fun, but that’s just me. The eggs are nice because they give you the flip feel of a smaller board over the trucks but the real estate of the big boards in the middle.
Have you ever tried slappies with the Powell Nano Cubic wheels? I'm interested on how those feel because it looks like they'd be really really good for getting into slappies given their wide and rounded outer side and with the flat inner side, it seems they would lock in great as well
Yes I skated the nano cubics and did a couple videos on them, here is the links. I liked them for the most part but I find lock-in wheels are more of a hinderance since they produce more friction against the curb, and make it harder to play with your slappy tricks. I also don’t find wide wheels that great overall, they seem to be unnecessary for me most of the time. th-cam.com/video/4rUzo6RDb-Y/w-d-xo.htmlsi=YkWb-9tkDFHjqWCd th-cam.com/video/7NZC5UzS2Hs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=CLVQis3ddfnTvWvU
I just bought a 9.25 welcome deck for curbs.. love your setup. How do you clean/care for your bearings? Having trouble making mine last; methods I've used wear them out quick
Sick, yeah I loved that setup, I’ve made some tweaks since then but it’s essentially still the same. 9.25 is a great size for some slappies. I ride bones reds, because of doing slappies on blacktop a lot and my bearings pick up so much dirt. I use bones cleaning kit, I think you can get them on amazon for around $15.00. Most of the time I can have a set of bearings last about a year, but I don’t skate impact stuff at all anymore so that may play a part in their lifespan. I made a short video on cleaning bearings How to: clean skateboard bearings th-cam.com/users/shorts-uxeQ7Dii1I?feature=share
Thanks for the breakdown. you are definitely getting down on that setup. I've been riding dragons for past 6 weeks and while they are kinda cool, I have chunked out a wheel already. I skate to my spots and the streets are chewed up around me so I have been thinking about going 55mm/56mm to be able to get around without getting tripped up on everything, but then i see a lot of curb people doing 52/51mm. I'd like to try a smaller wheel but man, they might get eaten up. been looking at snot wheels and spitfires.
Thanks, I really like those eggs! Dragons are interesting they feel really good but yeah the set I had chunked real quick. I am going to be giving the Bones x97 a shot next, I am interested in how they do. I have pretty much worn down the Nano Cubics at this point. I normally ride a 52mm, since I do not skate to spots that often a smaller wheel works well for me, if I was skating around town more I would definitely get a bigger wheel. I find that the smaller wheel helps me maneuver slappies better.
Put the dragons on my winkowski deck for the janky street transition stuff and they have been working great for that. Rode around some x97 52mm for a couple week and really liked the conical shape, and size and thought i was satisfied but i picked up some conical full f4 53mm and was like holy shit. so easy to powerslide and revert and smacks into curbs really well. def putting the x97 on my other board for flip tricks cause they are way easier on the knees- the biggest saving grace of x97 and dragons@@100funsummers
Sick! They are the Krux DLK hollow kingpin, often referred to as “Pink Label” they are no longer produced but you can get their replacement which are the Krux DLK Kingpins and those work too. Probably in a week or two I’ll post a how to video on inverting kingpins.
You’ve gotta be kidding…Ace has one of the worst hanger/kingpin designs. After about 6 months I was grinding my king pin to shit. Literally never had any other truck do that.
Awesome thanks! I’m riding 52mm most of the time but at this point they have been pretty work down so they are probably about 49mm. Since I skate a lot of slappies I like to keep the wheels a bit smaller, 52 is normally my go to.
www.zumiez.com/primitive-villani-scatter-9-125-skateboard-deck.html There should be other places other than zumiez, but the one in the video is about a year old www.zumiez.com/primitive-villani-scatter-9-125-skateboard-deck.html Frankie Villani’s egg is pretty standard in the primitive lineup and shouldn’t be to hard to find online.
@@100funsummers will keep looking for the egg shape online, i don’t i will be able to skate above 9 inch Heroin board cause im a small dude lol. My current setup is the razor edge top 8.25. It does feel kind of narrow the past few months i’ve skated only curb.
Love the amount of details you went inyo and analysing the why and reason for it brilliant video
Thanks for checking it out, I’m trying to hone in on what works best for how I skate. Constant micro changes that lead to madness.

I love slappy tricks
Yeah they are my favorite

@100funsummers i want to play arround with diffrent ace bushings like you did. Just put on the hards but haven't skated them yet
Nice setup! Only difference for me is I prefer tensor low trucks
Oh cool, I’ve ridden tensors but waaaaaaaaaayyyyy back in the day when they had the plastic plates. Like 99.
that intro nose slideeeeeeee💥
My favorite trick by a long shot, I could hit a spot and just do noseslides all day and have a blast.
Classics at 97a 😘👌🏻
Love them, right now I’m trying out the Nano Cubics but I already miss the classics and it’s only been 2 days
Your a curb king😊😊😊
❤️🫡
Nice set-up 😎🔥🤙
Thanks, for me it’s working great. I think I’m going to make a couple changes though.
ACE are the best truck that’s ever been produced in my opinion and Ive ridden nearly every truck.
So far I’ve ridden most of, if not all over the last 30 years and I agree. The turn and grind feel of Aces, especially the AF1 are my favorite.
I just got mine in. The build quality is highest I've seen. Can't wait to throw em on after work.
You are absolutely in for a treat, turning feels so good.
You’ve gotta be kidding…Ace has one of the worst hanger/kingpin designs. After about 6 months I was grinding my king pin to shit. Literally never had any other truck do that.
I’ve ridden almost all the major trick brands and there are drawbacks to all of them. With Aces for me it’s all about the turn.
Do your dlk kingpins have side to side play? Mine move so much.
I used a straw and cut off a piece of it to slide it in between the base and the kingpin. That fixed the play I got from them.
@@100funsummers I'll give that a try, appreciate the tip
You'r ruling the curbs! Nice setup tho!
Sick thanks! Curbs are just so fun
@@100funsummers They are! Jealous of those red curbs you have in the states
Do you have a preferred size Spit classic 99a wheel for your slappy setup?
Yeah my preferred wheel is the Spitfire classic 52mm Formula 4’s

bro i have a t shirt that is the EXACT same pink pattern that you have on that board! it's uncanny

Yooo we have the same deck haha
Sick, I’m trying to make this one last the shape is perfect.
nothing better than lil jaws. They are far superior to all other rails. If you skate curbs...do yourself a favor and get some JAWNS!!!!!
Yeah Jawns are definitely the superior rails, have a couple sets waiting for the next curb board.
my dream is to ride egg shape board and slappy trucks with Krux DLK pink label kingpin
🤤
Make it happen, it’s a good dream to check off the list!

Taking the shields off and letting other people live the way they want.
