I agree man, we’re actually so spoilt for parks here in Sydney! Yeah the designers are doing such a good job at the moment and I’m definitely loving all of the rails that are incorporated 👌🏽
That's because Grindline built many of those skateparks as well as a few other companies. I think there vision was leaving street skating to the streets although I don't agree 109% with that approach. Grindline designed and built the first concrete park in my region of California almost 20 years ago and one of the owners of Grindline was such a rad guy, even letting me test out some of the park before they opened. Skateparks have come a long way dude.
@@ramrunsfast for me it was mostly Dreamland parks, with West Linn and Beaverton 2 being the only parks built by Grindline. they're all fun and built extremely well, with best finishes. i dont go to parks much anymore, but the ones i would avoid heavily are the big bowled pits. they're fun, they are limiting if you don't like anything over 4'-5' tall. we had a spot in SE Portland called Brooklyn Street. that was fun, built well, and creative use of area. stuff like that is what hypes me up, and looks like Leon has a lot of that variety in his neck of the woods. here's Brooklyn Spot...th-cam.com/video/FhqdJs20txU/w-d-xo.html
@ramrunsfast If that was the goal then I'm cool with that. I think street skating helps you develop a more unique and natural style, and it helps with adaptability. I'm glad I didn't start at parks and that is probably due to the lack of street style parks in Oregon.

You look so smooth on a wide board Leon :D You should really consider +60mm wheels on there. Theres a reason 14-14.25 used to be norm on 9-10inch shaped boards imo. They feel small, but big at the same time.
Thanks dude, these bigger boards are so fun! Damn that would be insane and probably way too heavy 😂 Yeah dude, it definitely makes sense and helps them skate so much better 👌🏼

I've only recently started skating, but have quickly become obsessed with it. Your videos are the reason I have two Heroin symmetrical egg boards (8.75 and 9.125). Great video man! Been looking at this exact board for a little while now. My only concern is that I have a very tall rider (6 foot 4 inches) and am currently on a board that is 33 inches long with a 15 inch wheelbase, which feels great for my size, especially for doing ollies up and down things. I’m wondering if the shorter length and wheelbase on the swampys wideboy would be too hard for me to get used to, or if the extra width would make up for it? I really appreciate any input you could give🙏
Thanks dude 🙏🏽 The width on this thing definitely balances it out man, the shorter length and wheelbase is what makes it more skateable and I came from the Antihero Huffer which has a 14.75” wheelbase and this didn’t feel short at all since it’s so wide. So something this wide definitely evens itself out with the dimensions being smaller. Hopefully that makes sense lol
Yeah I'm almost the same size and I got as dead Dave but found it hard to go from as 15" WB Flight deck back to a 14.5" WB but I'm also almost 50 years old which super doesn't help!
Hey Leon recently became a big fan of your stuff and I was wondering what shoe size you wear, for me im 6'4 or 195 cm and have size 12 feet and my 8.5 is feeling too small even still so I wanted to try out an egg board but don't know what size I should go with anyways love your content keep up the underrated work! ❤️
Every time I see you bang on about these big ass boards I wonder if it’s because you are a giant with way bigger proportions. I’m tiny compared to you and would love to have a go without having to commit to buying a whole set up. If only there was a shop that had set ups that you could try before you buy. Standing on a plastic covered deck in a shop is so different to the real deal. Man yells at clouds. 😅 Anyway, Love the graphic with the green rails. Looks coooooool!
Haha dude, you're not wrong! That probably does have a lot to do with why I love these bigger boards more for sure lol Maybe if a homie or someone at the skatepark has a set up like this you can give it a go but yeah other than that it's going to cost a lot of money to set something like this up and and not like it 😂 The colour combo looked so good that I almost didn't want to skate it!
I skated 2 different Dead Dave's and now skate 2 of the 10.75 Wideboys. One with Thunder 181's, Rails, 54mm Nano cubic's 97a and one with Indy 215's and 56mm Bones 99a X formula. Will try and swap the baseplate on the indy's for forged Hollow. I have 6 different Heroin setup's 🤔🫣
I recently got into Creature/Santa Cruz stumps boards. I love the 8.8 and 9" boards with the 14.25 WB. However when I setup a usual 8.5 i had laying around to practice flatground I noticed how much easier every flip trick was after skating an 8.8 and 9" for several months. I think I'm gonna keep the stumps boards with ace 66's for a cruiser board that I can still have fun with skating street but keep a regular 8.5 setup for flat ground and park skating. The stumps boards are super skateable... I love the surface area to land on. But they're definitely marginally harder to flick; the added width does add a little bit of weight that takes a minute to adjust to. I love that for the street though, since it's not THAT much more difficult to deal with than shitty ground and cracks and the benefit of stability absolutely makes up for it. I've never had more confidence with 180s or shuvs in my life. While flip tricks are still 100% on the table cause they're not THAT much harder to do. When I'm at the park or skating flatground with my coworker after work, the 8.5" still reigns supreme for ease of flip tricks though lol. A 10.75" board seems like a novelty though knowing how marginally harder it is to flick a 9". Really fun for grinds/slides/transition I'd imagine though.
That’s sick man! Did the 8.5” feel much smaller or it kind of evened out because it was a bit longer? Damn the stumps actually sound really fun then! Hell yeah, sounds like 8.5” is the sweet spot for you then man. It’s definitely fun to have a different set up that’s a little bigger though 👌🏽 It’s definitely novelty sized at that point 😂
Not a proper review but I do have a 10" Heroin popsicle that I completely forgot about 😂 I'll have to dig it out and set it up again though, thanks for reminding me! Here is the first time I rode it 👇🏽 th-cam.com/video/ANIg6p4h0Dk/w-d-xo.html
I would have had a different answer before today but I just set up some new Ace AF1 Hollows with a 9.5" axle width and my 54mm Radials and the setup feels amazing! I'll have that video dropping soon hopefully 🙏🏼
i've always used 8.5+ because i snap boards so easily. 8s felt really small for me. i've always ridden toy machine too. best pop in the industry and toughest boards. being a large deck rider myself, looking at this i'm not sure i could ride it lmao down to try tho
I’m so interested in egg boards and watching all your vids! . My only issue is they are pretty expensive and I don’t want to pay nearly 300$ or more for something I won’t ride . I love my popsicle boards but these eggs keep calling, and I don’t know anyone who skates them around me to even try. I’m really stuck on what to do, any suggestions?
These are just 54mm Spitfire Radials man, I would go any bigger than that! If I was going to buy wheels for this set up I’d probably go with some 50mm to make it a little lighter and pop quicker though 👌🏽
also you can skate way bigger boards because you're very tall lmao, i don't think the average height would enjoy them too much, maybe if they had huge feet
I don't know too much about low trucks but I've put some 43mm wheels on this set up now to make it lighter and bring it closer to the ground so I'd definitely recommend doing that too!
Just so you know it looks big under you too… lol That’s a HUGE board! I noticed I just went up to 8.75 but with a 14.25 wheelbase, and I was shocked how quickly I got used to it.
Haha yeah it's huge but it starts to become smaller the more I ride it 😂 Yeah dude, that's definitely the key to making the bigger board feel more comfortable
Big decks have always have been great.. small popsicles were a fad that wouldn't go away. I've skated 10" Old Skool decks since the 80s. They are, and will always be, the best and easiest to skate. Actually skating a Heroin 10" Eyes (Winkowski shape) deck at the moment. Try one!
Yeah dude, popsicle's will always be the main stream standard for skateboarding but shaped boards are becoming more and more popular as the years go on and I'm loving it! Oh sick! I might have to suss that one out for my next wild set up lol
@@LeonPaxtonwhat’s funny is I have my first boards on the wall when I was first learning , it was an 8.0” and I thought it was wide 😂😂, now I’m like how did I even skate this!?
I skated 8.5 when everyone was a 8.25 or smaller person, but always craved something a lil wider and now I can get anything bigger then that I want now and still skating an 8.5 😂😂😂
I started riding one and about two months or so later I stood on my friend's 8.0 normal shaped board and it felt so off. The egg shape is more aesthetically pleasing.
i was on a 7.75 went to an 8.0, prob diff wheelbase too. But having trouble with treflips, tho ollies feel more solid cause the board is bigger.. who wouldve guessed. Anyway I am going back to a 7.75 board again with 13.875 wheelbase.
Im on an 8.25 board starting out again after a 10 year break and decided to size up and have been looking at 8.38 (I have uk mens size 11/12 feet and 6”3 tall) after this video im kind of thinking maybe I should go to 8.5…..
Haha that's all good man. whatever you are most comfortable with 🙏🏼 It's definitely the dimensions on this board that makes it more skateable BUT it's still really big and heavy lol
In fact those egg boards from Heroin are just the football shapes we used to skate in the very early 90s... Most of the "modern" tricks were invented on those shapes pre popsicles... They're cool and functional... I currently ride a mid 9.25 and mega mutant 10.4 from Heroin and I'm quite small and wear 7.5 shoe size 😅😂...
Well the 9.25 is my go to board and for all the reasons you explained like short wb and a thinner waist it's really easy to manage... I'm 50 y.o. now so must admit I'm not into full tech tricks. Obviously the 10.4 is another story 😅 but it's just perfect for cruising and goofing around.
i actually ride an 8. Because my old board a full 5 years ago was almost a 9, I thought I'd need a larger board because of this when I got back into learning this year, but turns out? I am actually so used to being on an 8 from just starting out this year, that I can't really skate anything much bigger without the balance being thrown off.
i had 9.5 heroin symmetrical and it didn't work for me. After that back to my 8.25 train. Randomly bought 8.9 Heroin Fried Egg and im right now with my third one. My favorite shape right now even it has small tail. So good. And now they are sold out so maybe 8.75 next. 149 thunders and 50mm spitfire f4 classics :D
Skinny boards 7.75 to 8 are easy to do flip tricks and tend to be alot more light weight than I thought Medium sizes like 8.5 and 8.25 are better but do feel alot heavier how ever that is my recommended size according to size guides that uses shoe sizes Large boards likes 8.75 9 anything I have 10.3 fish that is heavier needs different foot positions to do tricks and rides faster street and ramp
@@LeonPaxton About the journey brother last year I did some testing it was called battle of the shapes where I skated my 10.3 fish on street and ramp then I would do the same thing with my best popsicle shape 8.75 deck and the results where close but I discovered a new shape at the end it is the polar skate co 91jr Shape that works better than a popsicle or fish shape in every way
when i'm on the 8.5 when i pop, it feels like my body is following after the board, but when i'm on the 8.25, the board follows my feet, i get so much more control and stability

I’m wondering if the shorter length and wheelbase on the swampys wideboy would be too hard for me to get used to, or if the extra width would make up for it? I really appreciate any input you could give🙏
Thanks dude 🙏🏽
The width on this thing definitely balances it out man, the shorter length and wheelbase is what makes it more skateable and I came from the Antihero Huffer which has a 14.75” wheelbase and this didn’t feel short at all since it’s so wide.
Sick man, thank you so much 🙏🏼
I'd go for an egg board anywhere from 9" to 9.25" man, that should feel really comfortable to you 👌🏼
Even Leon’s warm up is steezy af.
Haha thanks man!
Such a pretty board ❤
It came together so well 😍
What size trucks do you have slapped on that thing??
Kinda remind me of old school skateboards of the 80’s… Powell Perelta, Santa Cruz, H-Street etc… those boards were awesome
Yeah dude, all those kinds of boards are becoming popular again 🙌🏼
Every time I see you bang on about these big ass boards I wonder if it’s because you are a giant with way bigger proportions. I’m tiny compared to you and would love to have a go without having to commit to buying a whole set up. If only there was a shop that had set ups that you could try before you buy. Standing on a plastic covered deck in a shop is so different to the real deal.
Man yells at clouds. 😅 Anyway, Love the graphic with the green rails. Looks coooooool!
Haha dude, you're not wrong! That probably does have a lot to do with why I love these bigger boards more for sure lol
Maybe if a homie or someone at the skatepark has a set up like this you can give it a go but yeah other than that it's going to cost a lot of money to set something like this up and and not like it 😂
The colour combo looked so good that I almost didn't want to skate it!
Those set ups sound so sick!
Hahaha damn, that sounds like about as many as I have too man, the addiction is real!
i went from a 8.25 to 8.9 from heroin and im loving it. ty for your videos they always make me choose what i want before i buy it
Sick man! Haha thank you, hopefully I'm not making you spend any extra money 😂
im obsessed with these 🥚🖤
They’re so good!
hey leon think this board is a good idea for getting back into it after 10+ years of no skating? flip tricks but a little bit of cruising i guess
im 6 foot 3 and 80kg, size 12us feet
This board is pretty big man, it’s more of a novelty size for most people but I’d record anything from 9” to 9.5” for you 👌🏽
I recently got into Creature/Santa Cruz stumps boards.
It’s definitely fun to have a different set up that’s a little bigger though 👌🏽
It’s definitely novelty sized at that point 😂
Yes! I’ve been saying that length and wheelbase have more to do with how a board skates than its width
Even more so with these ridiculously wide boards 😂
wow this park is fire
It's so fun!
Have you reviewed any 10+ inch Heroin popsicles? Like the new 10 inch Dead Dave Dead Reflections with the razor edge
Not a proper review but I do have a 10" Heroin popsicle that I completely forgot about 😂
I'll have to dig it out and set it up again though, thanks for reminding me!
Here is the first time I rode it 👇🏽
th-cam.com/video/ANIg6p4h0Dk/w-d-xo.html
Might have to try one of these, I got big flat feet, I like big boards.
Dude, this board is so fun!
What’s your current favorite truck/wheel set up for 10”+ egg boards?
I would have had a different answer before today but I just set up some new Ace AF1 Hollows with a 9.5" axle width and my 54mm Radials and the setup feels amazing!
I'll have that video dropping soon hopefully 🙏🏼
i've always used 8.5+ because i snap boards so easily. 8s felt really small for me. i've always ridden toy machine too. best pop in the industry and toughest boards.
being a large deck rider myself, looking at this i'm not sure i could ride it lmao
down to try tho
Yeah this one is definitely pretty extreme lol
I hope they make some wheel welled 10" ×33" w/ 15" wheelbase boards...Built for stable speed. This ones cool too!
I don’t know of any with those dimensions but I’d definitely pick one up too lol
Yeah this board is so fun!
Comet Shred is 9.375x33 w/ a 15.5 wheelbase and has wheel wells. Not quite 10” width but maybe you’d be interested in that
@@tamhtiwowtseet That actually sounds sick!
That board looks sick im a shoe size 15 and i ride an 8.5 i might try to get one of these later
Yeah dude, with a size 15 shoe I wouldn't touch anything lower than 9"
I’m so interested in egg boards and watching all your vids! . My only issue is they are pretty expensive and I don’t want to pay nearly 300$ or more for something I won’t ride . I love my popsicle boards but these eggs keep calling, and I don’t know anyone who skates them around me to even try. I’m really stuck on what to do, any suggestions?
Thanks dude! Damn, why are they so expensive there?!
Haha man, you might just have to commit to an egg and just ride it no matter what lol
Sharp edges always chip easier, wave effects catch more force, compounded the chipping seems inevitable.
Looks great but
Yeah that makes sense, I haven’t chipped a Heroin board before but the money bumps chipped pretty easy lol
I remember when 7.75 was considered large and 8 was unthinkable unless you skated vert.
I used to ride an 8.25" when I was about 14 and everyone thought I was crazy because of how big it was 😂
is this the new Umina park? 🎉
Nah dude, this is Berkeley skatepark just down from Wollongong but I'm so keen to hit the new Umina park!
No hollows on that monster? Also what size trucks you got on there?
I couldn't find any big enough 😂
I'm running the 10" Curb Killer Slappy trucks on it 👌🏼
@@LeonPaxton I got the hollow inverted 9” slappys on a 9.75 welcome shaped board. Fits perfect and not too heavy
@@LeonPaxton they are hard to find
Sick! Yeah they are so hard to come by lol
what size wheels you runnin on that thing? im building a big board setup rn!!
That's true! over 6', 95kg and Us11 shoes so I'm definitely more suited to boards at least 9" and up lol
Im 5 foot 6 and I love my wide boy!
I rode on my buddy's mutilator. It was a cool magic carpet ride. It was fun, but certainly not a daily ride for me. I'm most comfortable on a 9.5-10.
That thing looks so wild but so fun! Oh dude, 9.5"-10" is my favourite spot too 🙌🏼
Hell yea Leon 🔥
Thank you 🙏🏼
What do you use to record your videos?
Just an iPhone 15 Pro Max dude 👌🏼
@@LeonPaxton settings on point bro
I rocked a Tony Hawk at 13 years old. 10.41 x 30.28 , 15 wheelbase.
Damn that board sounds sick!
Currently on the 9.25 golden twin egg.. I'm liking it a lot
That's a damn good board! The symmetrical boards are the best 👌🏼
What’s the best low truck and wheel setup for this deck?
I don't know too much about low trucks but I've put some 43mm wheels on this set up now to make it lighter and bring it closer to the ground so I'd definitely recommend doing that too!
are rails required on big boards? or is it just a trendy thing to put them on?
I put them on every board because they help slide and grind longer and help lift up into feeble's and hurricane's from a board slide 👌🏼
Just so you know it looks big under you too… lol That’s a HUGE board! I noticed I just went up to 8.75 but with a 14.25 wheelbase, and I was shocked how quickly I got used to it.
Haha yeah it's huge but it starts to become smaller the more I ride it 😂
Yeah dude, that's definitely the key to making the bigger board feel more comfortable
Short wheelbase is the 🔑
Definitely is on this giant thing lol
Skating an 8.5” now thinking about going up to 9”
Yeas it’s heavier but it’ll be easier to commit to, land on and street cruise !
Yeah dude, you will get used to it pretty quick and then have more board to catch and land on for flip tricks too 👌🏼
@@LeonPaxton yea I’m noticing on 8.5” I over flick lol so yea can’t wait for the 9”
@@LeonPaxtonwhat’s funny is I have my first boards on the wall when I was first learning , it was an 8.0” and I thought it was wide 😂😂, now I’m like how did I even skate this!?
Oh dude, 9" will be perfect for you then!
Can u buy in the UK bro?
Yeah dude, that's where these boards come from 👌🏼
Thats a nice skatepark ❤
It's so fun!
Are you enjoying slappies more than Aces?
That's a very tough question to answer lol
They are both amazing and I'm working on doing a comparison video so I'll have more information soon 🙏🏼
@@LeonPaxton sounds great. Can’t wait to see it
i just wanna know how you got this skatepark basically empty, every time i go past its packed with kids, even during school hours
Haha yeah man, this was around 10am on a week day so we must have just got lucky 👌🏼
This skatepark is perfect 😟
It's so fun man!
You are lucky to have a park like that! Looks slippy though!
It is pretty slippery actually!
What trucks are you using?
I’ve got the 10” Curb Killer Slappy trucks on 👌🏽
7.75. I aint changing. Fuck trends.
OG OG OG
I skated 8.5 when everyone was a 8.25 or smaller person, but always craved something a lil wider and now I can get anything bigger then that I want now and still skating an 8.5 😂😂😂
Dope vid subbed
Thanks legend!
Np goat 🐐🛹🤙
What park is this, Sir Leon?
This is Holborn park down at Berkeley man, just past Wollongong. It's so fun too!
@@LeonPaxton thank you.
what is the playlist u were playing in the warm up?
It's 'Naked.' by Par Hagstrom 👌🏼
@@LeonPaxton thanks
I started riding one and about two months or so later I stood on my friend's 8.0 normal shaped board and it felt so off. The egg shape is more aesthetically pleasing.
It would have felt so tiny too man lol
Yeah I love them!
i was on a 7.75 went to an 8.0, prob diff wheelbase too. But having trouble with treflips, tho ollies feel more solid cause the board is bigger.. who wouldve guessed.
Anyway I am going back to a 7.75 board again with 13.875 wheelbase.
Smaller wheel bases definitely help my tre flips scoop better but I do them weirdly lol
8.75 or bigger only for me 👍🏼 love a bigger board just fun overall compared to a small board.
That's it man!
Im on an 8.25 board starting out again after a 10 year break and decided to size up and have been looking at 8.38 (I have uk mens size 11/12 feet and 6”3 tall) after this video im kind of thinking maybe I should go to 8.5…..
Yeah dude, I'd go straight to an 8.5"! You'll barely feel the difference from an 8.25" - 8.38"
@@LeonPaxton Thank you. Honestly this video is a god send
Thanks dude, glad I can help!
I skated 7.5 for 20 years😂 I tried a 8.25 and It's been sitting for 3 years unused I don't know how yall do tricks on these monsters✌
Haha that's all good man. whatever you are most comfortable with 🙏🏼
It's definitely the dimensions on this board that makes it more skateable BUT it's still really big and heavy lol
Damn dude, those boards would feel massive under you then! Lol
8" sounds perfect then man 👌🏼
Grew up skating 7.5 to 7.63 Darkstar boards in the early 2000s times have changed none of us would go above 7.75 unless it was a Christmas present 😂
Haha yeah and now no one skates below an 8” lol
@@LeonPaxton I know it's crazy how everything changed huh?!
8.25 is home ❤😂
Hey the big boards aren't for everyone lol
Whatever you are most comfortable with 👌🏼
did you tried lurpiv trucks?
I have but I might be making a video about them soon 🙏🏼
@@LeonPaxton yesss
what siize trucks are on that board?
I've got the 10" Curb Killer Slappy trucks on this bad boy 👌🏼
That park is from the future
It's so fun!
The thum nail looked liked a fingerboard😂
It does 😂
i had 9.5 heroin symmetrical and it didn't work for me.
Oh damn, that's one of my favourite boards! lol
That's sick! At least you found your egg board sweet spot, And that set up sounds fun 👌🏼
“8.25 mini board riders” 😂
At this point an 8.25” feels like a kids board to me 😂
Wide boards are the best, ive preferred them since the 90s.
They are!
You just have more fun on bug boards, I feel like it helps me not take things so seriously, just go out and gave a fun sesh
For real man! Takes a lot of the stress out of skating when you're just cruising and having fun on a crazy board like this lol
Skinny boards 7.75 to 8 are easy to do flip tricks and tend to be alot more light weight than I thought
Medium sizes like 8.5 and 8.25 are better but do feel alot heavier how ever that is my recommended size according to size guides that uses shoe sizes
Large boards likes 8.75 9 anything I have 10.3 fish that is heavier needs different foot positions to do tricks and rides faster street and ramp
Yeah dude, there's so many variables in skateboarding! Sometimes it's hard to find the perfect set up but it's a fun journey either way 👌🏼
@@LeonPaxton About the journey brother last year I did some testing it was called battle of the shapes where I skated my 10.3 fish on street and ramp then I would do the same thing with my best popsicle shape 8.75 deck and the results where close but I discovered a new shape at the end it is the polar skate co 91jr Shape that works better than a popsicle or fish shape in every way
Oh that's sick!, that's a fun way to do it as well!
I just downsized from an 8.5 to an 8
What skatepark?
Holborn skatepark, just down passed Wollongong 👌🏽
I actually just sized down from 8.5 to 8.25 because it just was feeling too hefty and too much lately lol
That's fine dude, it's all about finding what is the most comfortable to you 👌🏼
Has it helped with more flip tricks since going down though?
when i'm on the 8.5 when i pop, it feels like my body is following after the board, but when i'm on the 8.25, the board follows my feet, i get so much more control and stability
That makes sense, stick to what works best and feels good then man 👌🏼
@@LeonPaxton its helped SO much actually! it's like taking ankle weights off lol
