For all the hate skaters get in America it really seems your curbs were made for skating. English curbs are literally the rockiest concrete you can imagine
This is in California, trust me when I say this is not a nationwide status. Minnesota has crumbling garbage curbs because of the cold and heat and they're higher off the ground.
I did the same came back at 29, didnt know anything other than ollie and shuv it when I was a teen. I've learned so much more as an adult and have had more fun than as a kid. Awesome stuff man
I was 21 when i stopped skating, started when i was 13. I'm 35 now, 36 in a couple of months and been back at it for 2months. First few weeks were testing as i had to get that muscle memory back. Iv not even exercised since i was 21 so i had to get my body used to that aswell haha.
@@counterfeitclone definitely a break in period. My legs were so jittery those first two months and it takes about 30 minutes to get fully loose. But if you exercise along with the skating, you can still manage a ton of stuff at 36. I would be so glad if I was back in at 35 instead of 43 but I get a charge out of trying anything I couldn’t do as a kid.

FINALLY someone made a vid talking about weight placement on the board! Ffs most other slappy tip vids are only "just roll up and collide lol" but never mention how you get your meatbody situated right
The Kingdom of God is at Hand John 3:16 King James Version 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Solid tips! The one thing that unlocked slappys for me was to sort of lightfoot it like you do when you either powerslide or chinese nollie. I've always been told to just ram it into the curb and it never worked for me until I figured that lightfoot thing out.

did my first slappies today at 40, first day in 10 years, and they're amazing! nobody does them at the park I went to and they fit in with the type of skating I like, the type of shit you do. there's nothing like the feeling of a grind on cement. with indy's too.

Did my first two slappy sessions today and Wednesday. I watched this video previously and used some cues to help; but now after rewatching I know I’m ready to up my game. Thanks for all the SLAPPY VIDS!!! Looking forward to trying the nollie tail slide
it's pretty much all in the front wheel and truck - once that initial wheel makes contact and you feel the front start to grind the back truck follows where the SLAP comes in.
Thanks for the vid, great work, great instruction. Also, thanks for pointing out that different people are going to do slappys differently. There's no one right way. The right way to slappy is whichever way you can slap up on the curb.
Yes! Maybe I’m just old school but this brought me back to how I got the confidence for popping into a nose slide. I practiced board and lip slides this way on parking blocks too back in the day. Excellent content to subscribe to!🤘
I didn't dislike the video but if I did I would dislike it because I can do slappy's and I was taught that you don't lift up, unless you are going for a board/lip slide, or pivoting into something, everything he's saying is right except for the babylift up part, I know that if you are doing slappy's on something tall there's a point where you need to lift up, but I would say that would be the point where it's kinda a wall ride slappy.... I don't know, that is just my opinion, I honestly think that Dan's slappy game is bitchin', he's definitely a heavy weight, and I have seen him do wall ride slappy's, so yeah, I have respect for the guy, but yeah, I feel like if I were explaining a slappy on a curb I'd say everything accept for the babylift part, haha.

You guys are killing it honestly I could watch this all day! Just a few things if you could mention like slanted curbs vs straight curbs. And I feel like a certain setup is key as well round wheels vs square wheels. Wider trucks and flatter decks honestly I think that’s half the battle if you know what I mean
I been trying to find a deck that is 8.5 at least, has nose and tail but little to no side concave! I found a mini logo skateboard deck that was k12 and was close but 7.75 tho
I heavily enjoy the way you pronounce “on”. Also great video and trick tips. Just recently got into skating, so I’m excited to try these out tomorrow morning
Just got back into skating after quitting and just kinda cruising around town not really doing tricks and slappys have been a lot of fun to learn , I prefer front sides, for some reason backsides have been a pain to figure out 😂
Link the website in the descriptions of these vids borthers! Just constructive criticism...the easier it is to get to the site the more potential sales!
nah im good with the original way. slapping that back truck up on the curb then planting the front one down into the 50 - 50 is better. no reason to change whats already better. great tutorial on the slappie grinds etc loved it.
A question, would it be feasible to see some of the undersides of some of your products? Specifically how the coping is attached? I'm in Australia firstly but also can't afford to purchase things so I'm going through the DIY route and trying to figure out the best way to attach round coping is really the biggest thing.. Screws that go through the whole thing, bolts from the underside that only attach on the ends or just thick ass screws on the ends in the middle. What am I missing?! If it's a trade secret it's all good, I'll keep looking up hour long deconstructions on how to attach screws to things, the next 42 episodes might help
I def do them where the back truck hits first but its more back and front at the same time, i did my first slappy probably in 1987. My advice is just tap and ollie into them, its no longer a slappy but if your new to skating doing slappys is a waste of time, it's not going to help you for real street skating, if you tap and ollie into it then you'll be able to learn it on higher curbs. Slappys are for beginers that can't ollie.
I only ever used to bust out slappys, never had a park in my town man so that all we really could do. I mean, there's a handful of small rails about but staying in one spot defeats the purpose of skating street
That's Great Stuff.... ya'll didn't show the easiest way for a Beginner where U just Ride up the curb like a Mini ramp from the Lowest part of the curb on the sidewalk/street level & it lifts U up just like riding up a Ramp...
My biggest issue is I'm concentrating so hard on getting my front trucks (frontside) on the curb, I forget to push my back truck up and on. I suck at slappy's.
Just noticed the Alf MoüSe grip tape and 😵😵 I found 2 sk8s 5 months ago in a backyard and one them was a stain alien workshop with mini logo set up and the other one was a HUF Sobe deck with royal trucks and MoüSe grip tape with Baby thug life 2Pac. I think its like a 10 year old board 😵😵 👌👌👌
Watching Dan on this channel is like seeing a friend at their work
I love this comment
Trying to act semi professional lol
this is the most factual statement i’ve ever seen
The more you boost this the more the man gets paid lol get that bag boys.
I see my friends at work every day

Rub brick and some liquid cement before you wax it gets it buttery. Gota take that weird little line of crete that's above the rounded edge off.
Australians: dafuck is a curb? Our roads just have potholes all along the outsides lmao
We love to hate it. I hate me, you hate me. We hate you.
its acc a joke at this point🤣🤣

Just getting back into skating since a teen I'm 27 now thanks for the inspiration man
Good on u man
At 44 I’ve been back at it about 9 months and about 3x more obsessed with it as I was at 12 when I gave it up.
I did the same came back at 29, didnt know anything other than ollie and shuv it when I was a teen. I've learned so much more as an adult and have had more fun than as a kid. Awesome stuff man

Dudes. I’ve straight up been trying to learn slappy 5050s for years and I nailed it today because of this fucking video. 🖤
Same!!! Today first time
The way you learned how to 5050 is really good for slappy 50s

Finally getting warm enough here in the Midwest to hop on my board again. Haven’t skated since fall so hitting some slappys will be a nice warm up
These videos are the best - you are clearly just having fun and trying to help people out!
Did my first back side slappy yesterday! Thanks for the help
Finally got bs slappy 50/50 thanks to this video. Amazing thanks dudes
This is crazy I landed my first slappy nose slide because of this video

Really great content!
Especially the slow-mo from different angles is very helpful - thanks a lot and greetings from Germany! :)
thank youu i always thought i had to ollie on it it really helped me
Great video thank you for posting.
The two dislikes are people who couldn't build up the courage to attempt a slappy
now there's 13 of those fucks...
Or the one breaking their skull trying it lol

Downtown Long Beach 3rd & Daisy! I used to live around the corner from that spot.
Cool Just posted the question scrolled down, and found my answer here!

Yayyyy. The quintessential California red curb trick. I’ve been wanting to get on my slappy game
Great video! I’ve never really tried slappies but have been wanting to. Need to find a good curb and go! Thanks gents!
All the guys at the park skate the slappies, so fun. If y’all are in Bloomington, Indiana the slappy curbs at switchyard are the best
Love that you love that curb, thanks for the slo mo!
Love the videos very inspirational

Love seeing these vids fricking awsome slappy tricks hot af 👍🙏🏻
Painted curves are the best .. keep that in mind 🤙🏻
Best fs slappy tutorial ever!
The fs slappy looks so sick !!
I wish I could like this video twice.
Should make a video on searching for random spots
Yes that would be dope
Thanks!! I’m also getting back into skating, coaching in Colorado after taking a few years off. Fuck it!! Go skate!!
Love these videos💙
Thank you so much. I got the BS down. The FS are still a work in process. Also great co video with @ZachDowdy
Love your videos!
Would you recommend larger wheels? 54 + and maybe softer?
I came up skating in the SF 90s era. We had tiny hard wheels and powerslid everywhere haha
i’ve always been confused ab back 50 but thank u dan man for teaching me
NICE moves ya KEEN ......
Imediate sub! Like how relaxed you guys are👌🏻. Feels like these could help me learn 5050s and slash grinds in the bowl, i’m i right?
love slapping curbs like they're quarter pipes
The Alf grip says it all
My first slappy was a nose slide so I think those are the best to start off slappys woth
nah im good with the original way. slapping that back truck up on the curb then planting the front one down into the 50 - 50 is better. no reason to change whats already better. great tutorial on the slappie grinds etc loved it.

This vid helped a lot!
When i get into the curb and turn my body doing noseslide the front wheels always get in the way and my board not completely vertical helppp
That was rad 🤙🏽
thank you sir
Been skating for 10 years and can’t slappy. After watching this, I’m going to try again.
Keep trying
They're def not the easiest to learn lol...for sure one of the toughest "easy" tricks there is. Keep at it and don't be discouraged!
Actually the way Dan does bs 5050 is the most popular / common way in europe! So try both and see what u like!
That's Great Stuff.... ya'll didn't show the easiest way for a Beginner where U just Ride up the curb like a Mini ramp from the Lowest part of the curb on the sidewalk/street level & it lifts U up just like riding up a Ramp...
WHAT SIZE TRUCKS AND BOARD ARE YOU USING?
all the weight on the toes and switch to the heels. gotta get this
This work for tighter trucks?
SICK!!!
Lol i already do a bunch of slappies all the time and I still learned something.
I wanna know what happened to part 2
I wish we had something as simple as curbs this nice In the uk 🇬🇧 lol 😂
Sick bruh Said archives 🥀🌹 real long term steezlurr
Those wii remotes are indestructable 😂
Tight or loose truck for curbs
do you think wider trucks make most slappy tricks easier?
Ummm idk, possibly....but definitely not required by any means
"finess-full"!
yo how did he just explain my whole skate career at 0:20
My biggest issue is I'm concentrating so hard on getting my front trucks (frontside) on the curb, I forget to push my back truck up and on. I suck at slappy's.
Easier. It's the same movement and foot placement as doing frontside or backside grinds on my miniramp. I've you can lock it in you've got it.
Bruh I can't imagine trying this bs. It looks sick tho so I might have to learn it one day.

I want to skate that ledge in the background
I think your kick turn slappy looks better that the normal way.
where's this spot? Long beach?
Yeah!! Slappy's!
