Pro tip: When opening your amazon packages break the whole box down flat and fill one big box with all the flattened cardboard boxes you get. It makes for less clutter and they'll actually collect it on recycling day.

Bonus tip: Don't over stuff so tightly the cardboard won't fall out when inverted over the truck. I've done that twice. The first time they put the still full can back down, the second, they just dropped the whole bin into the truck and took it too! Took me 2 weeks to get a new one!

He made the choice of joining Poison as they were considered a joke and kinda the epitome of Everything the Seattle bands were " Fighting" against.
So I think he got labelled as a " hair metal" guy and a " shredder " to us guitar nerds , not a recipe for cool points in that era.
I honestly didn't know he sang till The Winery Dogs as I stopped thinking about him by the time he left Poison and became a solo artist, I had seen his Shred instructional video but that's it.
My mind was blown away by his voice and talent , I always knew he was a awesome guitar player but had no idea he has one of the best voices in Rock.
At least he is getting attention these days, he should be FAR more popular but we live in a world that HORRENDOUS modern Hip Hop and Strippers disguised as pop stars " singing" about the moisture of they're lady parts.......talent sadly isn't important to people these days.

This is indeed the Power Trio of this generation. I have always thought the Billy Sheehan overplayed, but I realize that he's doing a lot of that to fill up the space. Mad respect for his skill set.
Richie is simply a force of nature! One of the greatest vocalists of all time, and his guitar work is 2nd to none. And what can you say about Portnoy that hasn't already been said.
    A true master.

Kotzen's been one of my favorite musicians since i was introduced to him by a friend's band covering "Doin' what the devil says to do" in 2010. Since then i had the opportunity to see him live 7 times (1 of those with the Dogs), as he often came to Argentina up until the pandemic. I have to say tho i've seen docens of other world renowned bands in huge arenas, Kotzen's still in my podium of live performers, always with the same immaculate singing and playing, as well as some incredible backing musicians to not only support but play alongside his talent. It's truly been an amazing experience every time i've seen him live.

Richie is the MVP! Top tier on guitar and vocals ... It must have been hard to be in Poison. They sold albums, but Richie had about 10 x more talent than the rest of that band combined!

RIchie Kotzen is roundly ignored by so many people when they talk about their most revered guitarists, which is a real shame. The man has some serious chops - up there with the best - yet finds himself gravitating towards the more melodic blues rock. Here's a man who can shred, who can handle any technique and any lick, yet allows his songs to breathe, plays the rests, and can play his solos like he was singing them.
I hate to use the term "underrated", as it's so often misused, but this man is truly underrated and underappreciated.

Portnoy is undeniably a master of his craft. Whether it's a crazy polyrhythm or a simple groove he knows what to do and when to do it. No wonder Ringo Starr is an influence of his. What Ringo does isn't overly complicated but he knows what is best for the song and the performance.

To think I first heard Richie on his Shrapnel instrumental album back in the late 80s when he was still a teenager....what a progression and career. Glad to see he's finally receiving the exposure and accolades that he's deserved all along IMO. He had a lot of years releasing solo albums without much exposure (I am working my way through them after only having his early mostly instrumental releases). As much as I wish he would've returned to the limelight from wherever he's been hiding, I have to thank John Sykes for passing on the project that became the Winery Dogs. Sheehan and Portnoy pivoted to Richie and here we are.

I love how, going into the first chorus, Billy signals to Mike that "Richey sings alone on this one."
One of my favorite live performances, right now, is Blackbird by Alter Bridge LIVE in Amsterdam. Of course, Myles' voice is insanely good, but the solo handoff from Kennedy to Tremonti (Bluesy to more shreddy) is excellent. And I love the volume swell touches that Myles puts in here and there.

I saw Billy playing with DLR and Steve Vai for the Eat Em and Smile tour, it was pretty epic. At one point Steve started playing eruption, Billy walks over and slaps his hand over Vai's strings, silencing him, then launches into it on his bass, and they went back and forth tearing into the solo. Dave had a boxing ring set up in the middle of the floor so even people at the back could enjoy the show, iirc that's where he went to the edge, stood and looked down... it really was a great show, Dave was pulling out all the stops, wanted to make people say, Van Halen who?

A great Elvin Bishop song. The Winery Dogs nail it. Saw Elvin at the Weinberg Center in Frederick, Maryland my home town. Great concert.

Most EXCELLENT review Sir. Thank you. My everyday music. This is the best there is currently, maybe ever for a three piece. Richie is 1000% . Your descriptions are great. I'm a drummer 56yo but I'll be back. Thanks again

Richard scottson live in Japan, 2015 might be one of the most amazing performances I've ever seen

Why did I only just discover this guy? I am getting smarter every video! I need to start breaking stuff down more like him, I usually just want to play it haha and don’t get the chance.

So - I don't understand a ding-dang thing about what you're talking about, Kind Sir, but... your true appreciation & enthusiasm is absolutely *contagious* and unbelievably *riveting* !! Well done!!
As it happens, I fell down a wee bit of a rabbit hole & watched your Marcus King review (Wildflowers & Wine)... which led me to this video. And, sure - I know what a "guitar" is (lol), but that's about it... And yet, I watched the entirety of *BOTH* videos. Lovely day, Sir!

The guitar riff intro was one of my favorite you’ve ever done

Had the honor of standing on stage (in close proximity ) beside Mr. Elvin Bishop, in Canada about 10 yrs ago while instead of singing this, the played the whole thing on guitar. And needless to say it was brilliant.

Ohhh, you have the guitar Kanami Tono plays (dye color anyway) . Nice. It's fun to watch someone love what they're doing so much, and you can hear it in your descriptions and explanations.
