This guy singing is Mickie Thomas.. He is actually the male lead singer for Jefferson Starship... check out him singing Jane.......
Jane is one of my favorites. Mickie was SO underrated
Definitely it's 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Elvin Bishop is one of Americas' hottest guitarists and he toured America and Europe for over forty years, this was a huge hit and I saw them do this live at The Aquarius in Seattle in 1976. The singer, Mickey Thomas, was a gospel singer and this performance is one of the best ever.
The guitar player, Elvin Bishop wrote the song. He asked Mickey Thomas to sing it on the recording. It was a smash hit. Mickey went on to sing in Starship with Grace Slick. He was in Starship for many years.
Legendary Classic! ❤❤❤❤
straight up Singing! No gimmicks, just talent!
Pure talent no auto fake here!
Elvin was gutair player. He had his BACKUP SINGER sing this song.
Love this song - one of the best from the 70s 😍 Elvin Bishop wrote the song and played on it. I think he's doing the guitar solo in this clip. The guy singing is Mickey Thomas, who was later in the band Starship.
Fiona Em, yes Fiona, Elvin B. is the one who's going the guitar solo. Your spot on with your comment. GREAT JOB!
Who is the female singer?
The terrific Reni Slais is on backing vocals - Steals the show for me! - Brilliant live performance by the band
Mickey Thomas voice hasn’t changed in 50 yrs. Check him out he still tours with Starship. He’s amazing and very handsome! I’ve loved him since the day this song released.
Elvin Bishop is the sheriff playing his Gibson known as Red Dog.Elvin wrote this and let his backing singer Mickey Thomas sing it,which was a great choice.Reni Slais singing this with Mickey is also adding a great sound to this.Elvin does sing, and made it big with the Paul Butterfield Blues Band.I saw Elvin ad Mickey play this live in Tulsa,Oklahoma in the mid '70's.
"This man came out lookin' like a janitor... but sounds like that." LOL!
It is a fun song! I remember when this song came out, I was 15 yrs. old. The lady who is singing doesn't even make eye contact with him which is strange, but that was and still is a fantastic song!!
Check out the song "Jane". Mickey really rips on that one as well.
Hope it's on TH-cam...
At least tell him he was in a different band for that song! Jefferson Starship.
Jane is a bad ass song I love it listen every single day..... Mickey has a voice that I just cant get enough of. Nothing going to stop us now is also such a great song Mickey and Grace are so great. The bands music is so right in line with the lyrics. Many other GREAT songs also.
What you didnt know your local car mechanic has one of the most powerful vocals on the planet?
The man wearing the brown suit playing the solo is Elvin Bishop Mickey Thomas had joined his band shortly before this song was released and Elvin liked the way he performed the song.
Indeed this is pure talent and the song is fun and has such a great hook.
It was in the original Guardians of the Galaxy movie 😎🤘🔥
The title is misleading the lead is the great Mickey Thomas. One of the greatest singers in my opinion. Elvin was playing the mean guitar. Incredible. Terrific song, hats off to all involved. Mickey later went to Jefferson Starship, you need to check out JANE, more 🔥🔥🔥 🔥 like this great song.
Fun fact. Elvin is the guitar player. I saw em in 76 at 6 Flags over Ga. with Starship. Lotta fun...
Mickie Thomas is coming with Starship to Mount Vernon, Ohio on August 12th for a concert. I'm looking forward to it!
Mickey Thomas is awesome, still good 73 years old still sounds great,Elvin Bishop is still playing guitar.
Surprise! Lololol😂 it was all about afros, halter tops and bell bottoms pants, we loved it❤, 70s was a blast!
Elvin Bishop guitar 🎸 player 🎸 wrote this song, but didn't think his gravelly voice was suited for the song so he had backup singer Mickey Thomas sing it.
good comments on recognizing the greatness of this song ... for more iconic vocals from Mickey Thomas check him out on Starship's "JANE". ... also for an Elvin Bishop song that's fun and gets very little attention try ROCK MY SOUL.
Lol. Yep GEN X we didn’t have no cellphones so a pen and palm was the only way haha. Then when you get home and your sweat washed it all off your so pissed off 😂😂. That’s how is old dawgs rolled.
😂😂😂😂
ELvin is the leader of the band WILD CHERRY, (play that funky music white boy). A 70s blues rock guitarist.
Originally Roller skating music. Lol great reaction.
Great job reviewing this! Such a great song!
Numbers on a match book cover. Been there
I love your reaction i grew up to this southern rock I'm 62 love it Thank you 😊 ❤️ 💕 ❤❤😊😊
"Shaggys" very perseptive as that was the name of the hair cut he had. Lol. It was called " The Shag"
I remember this song 🎵
This was Nice song im looking him up to see if they have any other good songs.
Does Elvin Bishop on guitar and that was Mickey Thomas lead singing and he's from Jefferson Airplane check them out do you want to get your mind blown dude can sing.
Reni Slais!! Wow! What a back up singer
I have watched this a bunch of times. I never noticed the tin star on Elvin's lapel ! 😆
I didn't care how much they cried, the tears left me cold as a stone
We used our memory in the 70s 😁
When the mustache was macho.
Also this was on a show Midnight Special this is how bands got recognized was on late Saturday night great memories Thank you 😊 🙏 ❤️ 👏 🙌 👍
A janitor! Lmao great observation
haaaaaaaaa
This is my family.👍🍸💪
NICE RICH!!!
No cellphones in 1975
Janitor?? That's a 70's 'Jump Suit' to you sir...lol
Me thinks the singer and back up singer..have 'fooled around and fallen in love'...
But really...Elvin Bishop (guitarist and song writer) wrote the song but knew he couldn't pull off the vocals so he asked his then male back singer up to perform it...Mickey Thomas...His career took off from here. Cheers.
I remember the first time I heard that song It was either 82 or 83 at the state fair and my grade school crush was there with her boyfriend singing this song I was disappointed she had a boyfriend but she didn't know I had a crush on her
Lookin' like a janitor! Hilarious!
He sang the song from the movie mannequin.
Mickey Thomas can sing & is HOT
The little black book!
❤️❤️❤️
Listen to him sing jane. Jefferson starship
She ain't Bad.
Mickey is ausome
Watch Guardians of the Galaxy. It is in that movie.
Rod Stewart did this song too
"...haven't heard it in a movie..." I guess you haven't seen Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 1...
Shaggy the janitor :-D
She ain't Bad either.
Why is it so hard to do ANY backstory on the real singer?!?!?!?!
