Jeff White was a visual effects artist on Transformers: Dark of the Moon. A year later, he was the visual effects supervisor for The Avengers. It's pretty obvious this movie had a big visual influence on it.
No it doesn't- it just means that Jeff White has a career that happens to extend beyond working on this movie. My point is that are many more people involved in how a film winds up looking- not just a VFX artist.
Avengers is made by paramount too

Just like with Devastator, they totally wasted Shockwave. Two potentially awesome villains Michael Bay completely blew it with.

I 100% agree. This is probably my favorite of the 4. You can actually see the action, less ridiculous humor, more, larger scale action, and The human character has his own counterpart to defeat while the transformers handle their own business so he's not in the way during the final battle.

She compared Bay to a dictator on-set, and his notorious strictness has also earned the ire of actors like Bruce Willis and Scarlett Johansson. Fox should have probably stopped short of the Hitler comparison (she also compared him to Napoleon), and I don't have a lot of respect for her as an actress (I also don't even think she's that attractive, but I get why people think so), but it's still kind of tragic this happened in this way. At least Bay and Fox appear to have made up I guess?
I enjoy watching Michael Bay films to mock them TBH, and he does at least have a signature style.

Not just that even the battle ends the same way with protagonists destroying an important device which has created a portal for invasion, at that point the invasion completely stops and invaders and their ships either die on spot or sent back into the portal and leaving the antagonists behind.
that idea of the device controlling all is very old, Tranformers Generation 1 use it and abuse it since the 80's

So many movies are just absolutely RUINED by the writers obsession with having to shove some kind of unnecessary girlfriend or romance in there where it just doesn't fit. It's almost like these Hollywood writers can't make a movie without trying to shove that crap in there where it doesn't belong. They would just suddenly have "love blossom out of nowhere" between two characters for no reason leaving us saying"What the hell? HOW!?!" and then have the romance get in the way of the story. I can count so many movie where that's happened.

My biggest issue with this movie is by far Sam's girlfriend. She is sooooo fucking unlikeable, letting her boss buy her expensive meals and cars. What the fuck?! If I were her boyfriend, that would piss me off so much. Working my ass off to give her a decent living, just so she can flirt with her fucking boss.

did anyone noticed that the highway chase where the decepticon crashes into a car is the exact same scene taken directly from The Island except they replaced the decepticon with that railwheel. I think 3 is still the best and has the most epic score from Steve J.

You're not bothered by the fact that Shockwave got so little screen time and was taken down like he was nothing despite supposedly being as tough as the decepticons come? Or how those new autobots barely got any introduction and were just, there and didn't get any notoriety like Optimus Prime and Bumble Bee?
Chris didn't grow up with G1 Transformers.
Neither did I but we should all agree that Shockwave was completely nerfed in this movie. I mean he could've been a potential villain in later movies but no they just had to have him easily scrapped out in the franchise. They basically put 5 major G1 Transformers villains in the movie which was a mistake they only made 2 of them matter (Sentinel Prime & Megatron), one incompetent (Starscream (He actually was incompetent in the cartoon show) they should've just killed him in the second movie and it would've have made much of a difference for this movie) And 2 of them not even matter. (Shockwave and Soundwave.) Most of the time it only takes 1 villain done well to make a good movie. Not multiple villains sharing very little screen time. Other wise what's the point? They pretty much did the same thing in Amazing Spiderman 2, and we all know how that turned out.
I doubt that he even knows these characters outside of the movie. So he has no context about their potentials. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 actually copied the structure of The Dark Knight:
Main villain = Joker, Electro
Becomes a villain = Dent, Osborn
Cameo villain = Scarecrow, Rhino
Dead girlfriend = Rachel, Gwen
Yeah, but with Rhino, they made it look like he was gonna have a huge part in the movie considering how much you see him in the trailers and movie posters. That makes movie goers excited to see him battle Spiderman in an awesome fight scene only for him to appear in the last 2 minutes in the movie and cut away when Spiderman was about to lay a hit on him thus making it a disappointment. With scarecrow, he was already in the first movie of the Dark Knight trilogy having a good amount of scenes and finally gets apprehended at the beginning of the second movie and he wasn't teased one second in the trailers so that just makes it a bonus. that's different
I wasn't excited about Rhino at all b/c he looked like crap in the first place. Even if they showed Scarecrow in the TDK trailers, people would've still enjoyed the movie. Even Batman Begins had multiple villains. Bottom line, it's all about the writing.

He couldn't contact the auto bot because remember he was being hunted by the fbi when the alien broadcast himself threatening the world to find him. Meaning the other autobot wouldn't be relevant or wouldn't have to have more screentime. Optimus died for plot, seriously lots of movie does this. If plot wasn't initiated, then there would be no point. Also we at least had enough screentime of the transformers. And it wasn't just sam and his friends, there was the twins, bee and jetfire. There was more transformer screen than you think. And you gotta think about he budget as well. The bee movie did this as well, the plot of the bee is that in the beginning he fights with the autobots and he leaves and ends up alone on earth but i don't see people complaining.

I have a theory that Bay is actually a genius. He knows that the average moviegoers are simpletons and he's purposefully aiming for the lowest common denominator to make money. Not only is he getting rich, he could walk into a studio and ask for a hundred million to make whatever he feels like making wich puts him in a group of very select handful of directors that could do that. Marty, Spielberg, Ridley, Nolan, JJ, and unfortunately Bay. I can't say the same for Fincher my favorite director.

the ultimate goal/deal between Megatron and Sentinel Prime... was to enslave the human race to rebuild Cybertron... there's so much wrong with this "plan", I got a list here that has been in the waiting for 6 years:
1) If this was a deal between the 2 faction leaders, why did Megatron give the ok for shooting down Sentinel Prime, potentially killing him and rendering the plan null and void?
2) Humans? Really? no other species in the cosmos would do? Humans don't FULLY understand Cybertronian tech
3) 7 billion humans might sound like a LOT of slaves to rebuild with but we're the size of mice compared to the Transformers
4) Cybertron doesn't have enough oxygen for us to breathe, aka LIVE, to do the work anyway
5) Cybertron is the size of Jupiter; 7 billion humans isn't nearly enough to work on this ONE planet
6) were humans just going to haul SMALL construction materials around because, again, we're like mice to Transformers
7) Cybertron's gravity is equal to Jupiter's due to its size, which will make doing ANYTHING a hell of a lot harder and SLOWER
8) rebuild what exactly? this isn't Transformers Prime in which Cybertron was damaged right to the core and the source of life cut off on the planet indefinitely
9) so Sentinel Prime was never going to find the All Spark to clean up Cybertron, which would have been easier and FAR more effective than slavery; there's no way he would have known that the cube would be destroyed at a later time prior to it
10) Sentinel Prime could created HUNDREDS of space bridge gate devices yet cannot come up with anything to rebuild his own planet regardless of whoever won the war?
11) no organic material on Cybertron, aka food water etc, to support the slaves rebuilding their world means eventually they'd all die of starvation or suffocation, which would force the transformers to look elsewhere in the cosmos for more slaves, which then brings them into even more wars leading to losses while Cybertron remains a dead planet, landing them right the fuck back to square 1.

I have to say that over time, DotM has evolved from an instalment in the series that I felt very "meh" about to my favourite in the series so far. As I've aged, I've come to appreciate the somewhat slower tone of the film, and also the reduced reliance on juvenile humour along with the overall darker tone. Huntington-Whiteley was a terrible actress, but her performance sort of works in that she brings a degree of sincerity to the role that Megan Fox absolutely failed to do. John Malkovich's performance was ... weird, but I did like the satirical-absurdist feel of the company where Sam was working with its obsession about colour-coordinated coffee mugs. It's the sort of humour that hits home when you've actually worked for a company that puts way too much stock into living out its corporate identity and holding shit like "motivational meetings". I rather enjoyed the conspiracy theory undertones of the first half, and the implications of human collaborators. But what struck me most about the film was its willingness to up the human body count. This film is absolutely brutal for a PG-13 movie: the Chicago invasion was utterly shocking as it showed Decepticons just randomly blowing up random civilians into dust, ash and clothes fragments, leaving little more than pieces of skull and bone.

this is my favourite of the transformers franchise. the first hour was bad, trying to be a comedy then after that, things get real and becomes very entertaining. the action is well directed and thankfully it does not feel racist,disgusting or sexist. just a fun entertaining ride
I hated how disposable the Decepticons became, especially in DotM and AoE. They had 300 deceps in DotM and over 50 in AoE and they didn't even bother to name 98% of them let alone, giving them a backstory. MOST of the human characters were unnecessary at best and useless and annoying at worst

This is actually my favourite Transformers movie, I actually bougnt their new relationship and I felt that the first half gave a lot more weight to the second half.
Could’ve been cut down a bit but it’s got the strongest plot plus Bay did listen the parents are cut down a lot in this the new girlfriend relationship is realistic you expect Sam to move on Makayla and the twist he did college but still can’t find work is relatable so having set all that up is kinda important to the plot or else he never find out about the all the moon stuff and the robots plans if it wasn’t for his crazy employee. And what happens with Dempsey’s character here makes it more believable in TF4 with Kelsey Crammers character working with the bad robots. Plus I found TF4 to be pretty good as well I think 3 and 4 with some pretty epic action in 2 to be the strong points of the franchise 1 was obviously a test to see how they could do this and 2 had bad production with the writers strike but god dam the action in 2 is epic.

Megan Fox was actually fired because she compared Bay to Hitler. Spielberg wasn't having any of that so... boom. Fox Out. But what's actually pretty brutal was Bay adressing Fox's absence from T3 in the bonus features on the Bluray. He basically said that he didn't want her to return because she had too much plastic surgery done... It's actually pretty savage. Check it out if you get the chance.

That whole thing with Leonard Nimoy as Sentinel Prime being the main antagonist was totally unexpected for me. At first, the advertised villain Shockwave was said to be the main villain. But then again, this is the first movie I have seen where they advertise a certain villain. But it doesn't make them the true villain of the movie as a whole. That being called misinformation campaign. And it totally works for this one (for me).
I just watched it for my first time and I was absolutely surprised by it and loved it. I’m surprised by his disdain for this movie, honestly. Possibly my most baffled review he’s given.

This is why I love Chris. He looks behind the screen. I agree with him that Sams new gf kind of held down Sams character in a way. I feel like the overall tone of the movie could had been better with it being just him. Which is kind of sad because I feel like he brought alot to the movies.
Imagine if the first half of the movie was instead is set as Shia parkour training and testing out new gadgets for his exo-suit (cause future shit) with bumble bee so he can assist in fights with the decipticons if need be. It will show his character development throughout the last two movies as him getting used to the explosions and the swinging part of him in the last half of the movie will make more sense.
Fox was fired by Steven Spielberg. I think we should give him a beer for this.
What I like in this movie was the fact they introduced here an element absent in the previous parts.... THE PLOT.
And it was not bad. Steve Jablonsky as usual made a great score. The movie is Oscar winning compared to the 4th one...

Oh, come on - compared to the previous it was much more thought through - the backstory with Apollo and Cold War, war on Cybertron. Bringing the Matrix at the right moment, the Sentinel - I'm not saying it was a Tom Clancy level of writing, but is way ahead of the 2nd.
I remember seeing this in the theaters and thats about where the memory for this movie stops.

To be honest NOCTO i don't think Chris gonna review ATTACK ON TITAN series anytime soon or won't even happen.i saw Chris video of his entire anime collection of DVDs and Blurays and when he was holding ATTACK ON TITAN season 1 bluray, he said it himself that time he dropped the series for some reason he didnt like or something like that.
But he is entirely wrong about ATTACK ON TITAN.There are soooooo much potential, brilliant script writing and also amazing Foreshadowing by the most talented mangaka Hajime Isayama.He's not some guy who only throws Dumb Titans and make human fly around just to fight with their rears..Chris only watched season 1 few episodes and think he knows everyday and thats laughable to view from our perspective.
ATTACK ON TITAN is something that started out without telling us anything and it grows on us when it progress more and more episodes and that's where the real story starts pieces by pieces psychologically with some VERY strong character development. Even for those like us who had been watching till today with how Season 2 are took place, Still soooo many things are not answered and instead we got more and more questions episode by epiosde. Isayama is truly a master of foreshadowing.i hope Chris can see that someday and understand what ATTACK ON TITAN really is.Thats when he may review.

I noticed in the background you have the book The Hitchhiker by R.L. Stine. I love that book, I borrowed it from the school library and I read it in sixth grade and the ending I didn't expect. It was really good. I should read it again at some point.

I agree completely about the dullness. It seemed like it was going to really pick up. But no. It stays a Lifetime movie about the financial inadequacy of the twenty something male in the modern age. He had the ingredients to make a really awesome pop-culture icon out of this series. My guess is too many voices vying for supremacy on the set.
