njldst2007 you are 💯 correct. I have watched this movie quite a few times. I actually find it enjoyable as a check your brain at the door kind of movie.
Yeah that was actually the whole theme of the movie. Good and evil is inherent. So... This review is like he never really watched the movie and just read about it through a poorly written synopsis.
Karl Urban was supposed to be him. He turns into a perfect god-like half-angel demon killer at the end because of the injection that changed his genetic makeup which turned everyone else into demons. Subtly hinting that his girlfriend is an "angel" too with the imagery.
Just make it like John Wick. They kill his rabbit, not knowing they fucked with the wrong guy, and he wages a one man war against the legions of Hell. That sounds fucking amazing.
YES!! i love the Doom movie too!!, i wish they made... a better one, learning from all there mistakes, but a summer bluckbuster!! Wow!!! i wanna see that!!! Value Production! Value Script!
Pretty sure that is crap because it's not based off the damn video game, and I'm pretty sure if I looked up the plot it has no aliens as villains. Also it's about 1 damn character while Doom like Navy Seals or Alien is about multiple characters. So nope Alien or Aliens is way damn closer than its so damn far from the ballpark Hardcore Henry
I don't think I would even call this a "guilty" pleasure. I honestly like this movie. It never takes its self seriously. It's a lot of fun. It's an old fashion monster movie.
yeah it took a few watches for it to grow on me and while it's far from a masterpiece it's also not bad enough to be a Hilariocity imo ...my main issue would probably be that there isn't more Doom lore in it but judging it on its own it's not bad and unlike some movies that are supposedly better i can watch this one numerous times and not get bored of it
BTW I thought that the FPS scene was amazing and it made the movie for me when I saw it. For me it was FPS scene = amazing, Final fight = decent, everything else = shit. That FPS scene with that music was pure gold. Edit = I just re watched that scene and I remembered the music to be way better. So after re watching it I think that that scene is good, not amazing but good. But if you mute it and watch it with the Doom theme music it might be amazing.
Honestly, they missed so many tricks here. No Doom Guy, no iconic demons (Lost Souls, Cacodemon, ect), no double-barrelled shotgun, not even a modern homage to the iconic E1M1 theme. The lack of care or love for the source material is what puts me off this movie, they just really missed some easy wins that wouldn't have been hard to pull off. A descent into literal hell would've been an amazing climax, much more than Johnson and Urban squaring off. Imagine Doom Guy fighting a Cyberdemon in the literal depths of hell, that'd be metal as fuck and hilarious fun.
In case you missed it, The Rock's character starts going evil because he touches the infected monkey blood after they kill it in the vent. I know, they could just have him go crazy and wouldn't be much different but the idea is he is infected like all the scientists. Also the reality of the suggested ending is kind of horrifying - both characters who survived are going back to Earth carrying the virus that makes people either demigods or horrible monsters. So...yeah.
Good observation. I always thought he was always kind of a bad dude, just hid it well or never was in a situation like this that made him have to show it.
cause he touched infected blood doesn't mean that infected him lol touching obviously can't infect them, it most likely would have to enter their bodies and blood stream, idk where you got that from lmao plus what sense would it make from them to bite him on his neck by the end of the movie if he was already infected early on?
@@Dre-yd2xh yeah the rock gets dragged away when the squad meets up near the end & the rock comes back from getting dragged away he comes back infected so it was never monkey blood.
indeed. I actually liked it. It's definetly not a GOOD movie, but it's not like I felt robbed after watching it. I kinda enjoyed it. I mean, Doom (game) is about blowing monsters up, with flaming barrels and blood on the walls, and that's what I got from the movie... so yeah, no complaints. Except maybe it was too dark.
The FPS moment in this movie is actually one of my favorite moments in the history of cinema! That scene I think was supposed to be an homage to the original game itself.
I can recommend Requiem pour un beau sans coeur if you appreciated the FPS. That movie is done in FPS all the way and goes over the event of the last days of an individual trough the eyes of various people and himself. It is a french canadian movie so subtitles might be required. But as a cinema aficionado I assume that this won't be an issue. Edit: This is an actual good movie recommendation in a Hilariocity review.....
Basic Thuganomics yeah same with me man, straight up go out of my way to watch this, just a fun little sci fi that shouldn't be called DOOM but i enjoy it a lot
Zanemob graphics were top shelf at the time, first stages of 3D imagery behind only spear of destiny which wasn't as complete, smoothest combat at the time. Blood and guts you rarely saw in games up until that point, etc.
Yeah you can tell he’s too young to have enjoyed any of the Doom games, Wolfenstein...or Duke Nukem. I enjoyed the movie and it knew exactly what it was. Could it have been better? Sure but I was 13 when Doom came out and we used to play death match and team battles on LAN in after school computer class!
I like Doom. It could’ve been better but I appreciate that it doesn’t try to be something it isn’t. It knows exactly what it is and just goes with it. Like you said: the Rock turns into a freaking monster. And Karl Urban is always awesome. I hear they are making a reboot. I think it would be hilariously fun if it was all filmed in first person like Hardcore Henry was. Especially if they can keep the nuttiness.
Who else would LOVE a well-made *Dead Space* movie? Simple premise, some originality in the plot, recreating the isolation, suspense and curb-stomping action on the Ishimura, Sam Raimi on necromorph effects, David Lynch directing? I don't know if I'd want *2-3* made as films though, maybe adapt the ending to this so it can be more conclusive without being left open for sequels? Now, the big question: *Who should play Isaac Clarke* (Gunner Wright, duh)*?* *#TwinkleTwinkleLittleStar* ⭐
doctor deepwater Not necessarily, depends on who's in charge. I know it's easy to assume the worst about game-based films, but some admittedly are better than others. Ridley Scott could do well if he understands the source material and listens to fan feedback. Necromorph effects alone would be terrifying if well-balanced between practical & CGI, I'd bet on Raimi to deliver any time. The story would focus on the best elements, prioritizing survival while lessening the Unitology subplot. The Ishimura itself would be the star (especially in the anti-gravity). And like I said, they can adapt the ending to solidly conclude Isaac's story. Maybe have a necromorph Nicole kill him on the escape ship after he destroys the Hive Mind? This would be similar to the game but with Nicole appearing physically. Isaac can find her body after the revelation that she'd killed herself and carry her aboard (they had a scene like this in the *Downfall* prequel).
Sounds like you have a good plan there, sir! Dead Space certainly has a solid plot that would make a pretty marvellous film, given the chance for greatness. On a side note, any good game-based movies to recommend me? Most of them I've seen are awful, so it'd be nice to get a few suggestions to change my perspective on it.
doctor deepwater There are no masterpieces, per say, but some have had decent to exceptional quality in terms of story, characters, or portraying the game lore. My top recommendations would probably be: *Wreck It Ralph* (technically not based upon a pre-existing property but still a game-focused movie that references several well) *Resident Evil: Degeneration* (cg animated) *RE: Damnation* (also cg) *Silent Hill* (good effort put into recreating enemies, effects and music from the game, plot is okay, AVOID the sequel at all costs) *RE: Apocalypse* (live-action, some cool fight scenes and Nemesis looks awesome).
Me and my friends saw this movie when it came out in theater. Everyone in the theater was having a blast watching it. It wasn't great, but no one left in a sour mood. And when Karl Urban looked into the mirror and it switched to first person, everyone in the theater cheered. It was honestly one of the most fun experiences I've had at a theater.
"Saying scientific words that mean nothing". I don't know. Sounded like she was talking about her areas of expertise and the guy was talking about the elements being detected by his scanning device.
Scottx125 Productions But what does it have to do with anything? Why is her being an archaeologist, geologist, etc. essential to her character and why is detecting random elements essential to the story? It’s words meant to make the film SOUND smart instead of it BEING smart.
Are you kidding? Those things are essential to her character because... Have you really seen the fucking movie?! Remember Lucy? And the whole thing with the 24-th chromosome thingy? I guess archaeology and genetics are considered techno babble these days. Also people are using all sorts of devices to measure particle density in the air. That is why we have geiger counters for example.
@@steviegbcool They do mean something to the plot. They needed someone who was an archaeologist and a geneticist because the U.A.C. wanted to dig up an extinct alien species and study their DNA possibly weaponize it. And because they were digging up ancient skeletons and messing with DNA, that Mars facility became infected with those monsters.
Is there any video game movie that's actually good? Wreck it Ralph and Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World don't count as they aren't video game adaptations, but instead tribute to video games. EDIT: Ok, I got answers in the comments and there are movies like that out there. Thanks to everyone who replied and liked this comment.
The rock turning into monster and most importantly being the antagonist is pretty bold thing to do. This was back in 2004-05 when he was still white hot in popularity. He could've easily said no dont make me the bad guy and dont put monster make up on me. The Rock is a humble guy thats why hes huge today he knows not to let the success forget where he came from.
The built up for The Rock being an villain in Doom is pretty bad. Like The Rock acts he’s the leader then all of sudden BOOM, he’s the villain of this movie!
@d R LMAO no he's not. The Rock is NOT a "AwFuL AcTOR" AT ALL, he's just a good actor whose been in alot of bad movies. He DOES have range but hasn't be fulfilled yet.

@@Ett.Gammalt.Bergtroll that’s what all big muscular guys go through. That’s it and nothing wrong with that and Arnold has been in ALOT of roles in movies!
HundredJono So it's also a Resident Evil movie rip off too. A virus that infects people and turns them into monsters. Except for the main character, who instead gets super powers.
The BFG and the end sequence with the first person shooter was so much fun!!! You really needed to see this in the cinema with people howling at all the crazy stuff. The main reason I saw this is that I was living in Prague, where it was shot and one of my friends was an extra as one of the scientists. Plus the nostalgia of playing the original game, because even non-gamers played Doom when it first came out
Compares two ENTIRELY different quotes. "If it breathes, kill it." Meaning everyone and everything that is alive here needs to be executed. To "If it bleeds, we can kill it." Meaning it isn't immortal, we have a fighting chance... What???
While I also think the meaning is different, the sentence structure coupled with other similarities in the movies does make the impression of Doom copying Predator. It's a one-liner, of course, but they could have phrased it differently.
@@laszlobencebari8677 Its actually a standard villain trope. "If it breathes, kill it." It was specifically there to help establish the Rock's character is now the villain. Like the movie isn't good, but its suprising how many people don't understand this movie.
@@Lowlightt Sure, but there's also the obvious pussy joke reference as well which lends a lot of credence to the idea that the, "if it breathes, kill it," line is a reference to Predator, not to mention the similar line delivery.
Ben Wasserman yes but it doesn't make for an interesting movie...watching them endlessly wander around isn't cinematic, wandering around in a video game is because it's necessary, practical!
It's the best part of the movie, and I thought it was cool when I was a 15-year-old kid. But it did not age well at all, and it just seems goofy now. Fun fact: that scene took months of planning and filming (and a huge chunk of the budget) to get it the way they wanted. It's actually really incredible in a purely technical sense. Still, it's kinda bad, even though I can appreciate the work behind it.
Well... I was curious and looked up all videogame adaptations. There are only two decent titles. Hitman(first film/haven't seen second one) and postal :D Don't beat me!!! I liked the postal film.
1.) loved this movie. 2.) the real problems I had with this movie is the over kill on each character that died lmao like each death scene last like a minute. 3.) the movie actually had a lot to do with the games- as said in the comments already "Sneaking around while fighting demons is the antithesis of what Doom is all about", the "Hell" aspect of the film was that the virus that infected people chose its victims by reading there genetics (there soul) and choosing who was evil I=enough to infect. 4.) I find it incredibly badass when a movie takes a huge action star (the rock) and completely catches the audience by surprise by turning them into the bad guy and having the 2nd "action hero" (karl urban) take his place, that was risk and man did it work lol 5.) the moments where the movie catched classic stereotypes and pointed them out with hilarious forms was pure gold (the rock saying (I'm not supposed to die- BREAKING THE 3RD WALL LIKE THE HE KNOWS HES IN A MOVIE lol) wheel chair guy saying "oh theres something behind me isn't there" like fuck that's when someone gets fucked up and that's me" etc-etc. overall I liked the movie lol it wasn't superb but it was fun lol
I love this movie. I got influenza a couple years ago and watched Doom all day and night for an entire week. It's a great movie to play in the background when you go to sleep too.
@@majora919 It was more for background noise than anything. Playing a movie I know line for line helps me fall asleep and gives me something to focus on instead of thinking about how sick I am.

Out of all the criticism about this movie that last fight scene is one of my favorites. If there is something in this movie that saves it, is that last fight scene. Karl Urban is the only one in Hollywood movies that has given an awesome fight against The Rock. Better than the Vin Diesel or Jason Statham.
You didn't even mention how the movie doesn't even stick to the source material. In the game all the enemies are demons, in this they're mutated humans.
Also, I loved the FPS moment. The studio couldn't have really asked the director to do it because it's actually a piece of cinema history as the first ever portrayal of the FPS pov on film :)
Pinky is a monster type in the game, the big gorilla/pig things. So when the guy at the Mars base meets the squad and says "Call me Pinky," I knew where my expectations should rest. They had Mars and Hell to use as a setting but gave us ... hallways... Could have been classic.
Aaaaww you didnt have my favorit Dwayne scene, the one were they are shooting through a nano door at the hoard of monsters coming at them, and Dwayne gets his foot caught by one of the monsters and goes ”Im not supposed to die!?”. Its fucking hilarious

njldst2007 you are 💯 correct. I have watched this movie quite a few times. I actually find it enjoyable as a check your brain at the door kind of movie.
Yes
no i got the same thing, doom is weirdly one of my favorite movies and i actually liked it for the most part
Yeah that was actually the whole theme of the movie. Good and evil is inherent. So... This review is like he never really watched the movie and just read about it through a poorly written synopsis.
@MR Esotericana because the movie didn't do a good job of portraying the plot. It's a shitty movie.
The guy who the made the movie Hardcore Henry should have made this movie
He’d make an awesome Mirror’s Edge movie.
A Doom movie without the doom marine is like a Bond movie without James Bond.
Karl Urban was supposed to be him. He turns into a perfect god-like half-angel demon killer at the end because of the injection that changed his genetic makeup which turned everyone else into demons. Subtly hinting that his girlfriend is an "angel" too with the imagery.
Samoutuomas wrong true doom marine will rip and tear , make all the demons his bitch without some performance enhancing drugs...
ozzy syd
Well, not in Doom 1-3...
Samoutuomas it's his sister not his girlfriend
Ryan Jenkins : Oh yeah...makes more sense too. Been a while since I saw this film but got an unrated version of it on DVD when it came out.
I mean... DOOM could make for an awesome movie if done right, even when it was a much simpler game.
Also it really feels like aliens because it was based on doom 3... not a good choice in retrospective
Just make it like John Wick. They kill his rabbit, not knowing they fucked with the wrong guy, and he wages a one man war against the legions of Hell. That sounds fucking amazing.
progste I agree. Look at The Raid or Dredd, both of which had a simple (if similar) premise and they were awesome.
Wolfenstien The New Order would be an easy and great adaptation.
Gotta be honest, I like the Doom movie. Its my so bad its good movie. At least for me. I know its bad, but its just so fun to laugh at.
I don't think Doom is that bad
YES!! i love the Doom movie too!!, i wish they made... a better one, learning from all there mistakes, but a summer bluckbuster!! Wow!!! i wanna see that!!! Value Production! Value Script!
It's almost like, it's such an atrocity.... its hilarious 🤔
*mind explodes*
Likewise.
It definitely has a “Guilty Pleasure” vibe. I enjoy it
Carl Urban is ALWAYS the best character. It's just one of those Things, I Guess.
Well Lord of the Rings TT and RotK is pretty debatable, but other than that you're pretty much right.
And the chronicles of riddick movie.
Carl Urban is criminally underrated. he should be the next Wolverine
And hes a great country singer too....
Karl*
We already have a good Doom movie. It's called Hardcore Henry.
Asuna Yuuki Didn't know there were demons in Hardcore Henry
Asuna Yuuki first movie to give me a headache lol
So, because it's in first person, it's DOOM? I didn't know Hardcore Henry took place on Mars and in hell with demons.
BIG BOSS Neither the Doom movie.
Dude after Assassin's Creed I don't think you want a Metal Gear Solid movie
Kate B don't worry we still have the cutscenes
If all cut scenes from all mgs we would have a timespawn of the lord of the rings trilogy
As stupid as it is, I have hope. The director actually cared and talked to Kojima. He even made all of his crew play the games at his house.
As someone who just recently played all of the Assassin's Creed games I think the movie was good.
AC was just awful... The only hope i have is that Uncharted fan movie. If that got made into a full movie it could be a good movie.
What's wrong with Assassin's Creed?
I don't think I would even call this a "guilty" pleasure. I honestly like this movie. It never takes its self seriously. It's a lot of fun. It's an old fashion monster movie.
bob roberts Yes, thank you ,honestly
yeah it took a few watches for it to grow on me and while it's far from a masterpiece it's also not bad enough to be a Hilariocity imo ...my main issue would probably be that there isn't more Doom lore in it but judging it on its own it's not bad and unlike some movies that are supposedly better i can watch this one numerous times and not get bored of it
"It was his first mission!"
"But it's not gonna be my last!"
I literally keep rewinding that part and laughing!
"But it just has the Rock as a monster, so that is a major plus for anything"
Not really, remember The Mummy Returns.
I member the Scorpion King... Ugh...
Arrow Seasons 1 and 2 use flashbacks very efficiently as a core feature of the show.
SeerSmashChannel Yep, love the first 2 series, and now it's crap. Oh well, at least we the Flash!
OITNB also uses them excellently.
Batpod05, much better than Season 4.
"The Scene" is amazing, I love it! It's one of my favourite movie moments ever
29 blinks I actually counted
I went through the comments just to see if someone did lol

Doom was a game that revolutionized fps games forever. Hell, it was so revolutionary that Bill Gates even used it promote windows.
ohh i remember them old days running DOS mode to play /Doom2
Anirudh Menon well he's more movies than games so I'll let it slide that he didn't give it as much credit as it deserves
Christian Diaz I dont think the OPs statment was an argument but just a basic fact...not every response is deffensive.
Gates was using god mode though
Anirudh Menon
Honestly, they missed so many tricks here. No Doom Guy, no iconic demons (Lost Souls, Cacodemon, ect), no double-barrelled shotgun, not even a modern homage to the iconic E1M1 theme. The lack of care or love for the source material is what puts me off this movie, they just really missed some easy wins that wouldn't have been hard to pull off. A descent into literal hell would've been an amazing climax, much more than Johnson and Urban squaring off. Imagine Doom Guy fighting a Cyberdemon in the literal depths of hell, that'd be metal as fuck and hilarious fun.
yes!!!!
Wait until you see doom annihilation
Supposedly they were trying to make Karl Urban’s character doom guy. But they never made it clear enough
Karl is the doom guy. It goes POV at the end
"Doom is like some kid came over and is using your computer and won't let you play." - Robert Ebert
Tbh, I love this movie. It's sort of a guilty pleasure for me.
Slimie one of my favorite movies and one of my favorite video game movies and games
He was already a douche before the monkey blood
I'm 5 years late, but didn't he get bitten on his neck after the fourth wall break scene of "I'm not supposed to die!"?
I like this movie, just ma opinion
Movies4Life that nobody asked for
I appreciate your comment even though nobody asked for it.
fordis2 So now you can only state your opinion if asked?
Rekt.
That scene was frikken amazing. Cant say much for the rest of the film though...
Oh my god...what brilliant observation are you gonna make next? You think oxygen is the most needed resource for humans to live?
Good work on that last bit, detective.
You are easily the smartest person alive.
I can safely say that this is a guilty pleasure of mine hah.
JoeAXE Cleave thank you ffs
Basic Thuganomics yeah same with me man, straight up go out of my way to watch this, just a fun little sci fi that shouldn't be called DOOM but i enjoy it a lot
Basic Thuganomics and my favourite flick is LOTR so
Ditto
JoeAXE Cleave same
Man, Predator is such a good fucking movie. I don't blame them for ripping it off to be honest.
The BFG was a better doom movie.
+Kash Akinsade clever
+Kash Akinsade you get two shekels
Lol
+johnJG421 You mean Doom (2016) right?
Rip And Tear... UNTIL IT IS DONE
Chris whenever I'm over whelmed with life I come to your channel and I feel better. Thanks.
"A simple game that broke some new boundaries". WHAT?! That is a massive understatement, my friend.
Glad I'm not the only one that thinks that. Like what the hell, I thought Chris was supposed to be a gamer
Zanemob graphics were top shelf at the time, first stages of 3D imagery behind only spear of destiny which wasn't as complete, smoothest combat at the time. Blood and guts you rarely saw in games up until that point, etc.
@Zanemob Say that in 1993.
@@Zanemob you clearly don't know much! Watch retroahoy's video on Doom if you are interested to know what you're missing. It's a lot!
am the only one who actually enjoyed this movie?
Aaron Buenaventura It was ridiculous and i had no expectations going in, but i did like it a lot
Aaron Buenaventura no there are others in the comments who say they liked it.
amber lopez whatever makes you sleep at night honey
It wasn't good, but it was VERY entertaining to watch and laugh at
Did you enjoy watching it or did you think that it was a good movie?
Come on Chris, the fps part is the best bit of the movie :p
I like Doom. It could’ve been better but I appreciate that it doesn’t try to be something it isn’t. It knows exactly what it is and just goes with it. Like you said: the Rock turns into a freaking monster. And Karl Urban is always awesome.
I hear they are making a reboot. I think it would be hilariously fun if it was all filmed in first person like Hardcore Henry was. Especially if they can keep the nuttiness.
Doom without demons is like One Piece without pirates.
This comment is underrated
Here's mine; like Halo without Master Chief
Where's that Gods of Egypt hilariocity you promised us?
Jonathan Sefcik up ur ass lmfao 😂😂😂😂😂😂
spade2187 eh.... ha?
I actually enjoyed that movie. It was bad and the CGI was an eyesore but it was entertaining as a movie should.

i dunno... i really liked this movie despite everything lol
I actually like doom, it's a nice dumb movie to watch
agree. its a typical dwane johnson movie. turn your brain off and just enjoy ^^. i liked the ego shooter scene really much
Who else would LOVE a well-made *Dead Space* movie? Simple premise, some originality in the plot, recreating the isolation, suspense and curb-stomping action on the Ishimura, Sam Raimi on necromorph effects, David Lynch directing?
I don't know if I'd want *2-3* made as films though, maybe adapt the ending to this so it can be more conclusive without being left open for sequels? Now, the big question: *Who should play Isaac Clarke* (Gunner Wright, duh)*?*
*#TwinkleTwinkleLittleStar* ⭐
As much as I'd like this to happen, there's no doubt they're going to completely wreck it, lol.
Keith I'd prefer a Bloodborne movie.
doctor deepwater Not necessarily, depends on who's in charge.
My top recommendations would probably be:
*Wreck It Ralph* (technically not based upon a pre-existing property but still a game-focused movie that references several well)
*Resident Evil: Degeneration* (cg animated)
*RE: Damnation* (also cg)
*Silent Hill* (good effort put into recreating enemies, effects and music from the game, plot is okay, AVOID the sequel at all costs)
*RE: Apocalypse* (live-action, some cool fight scenes and Nemesis looks awesome).
this is a huge guilty pleasure for me.

I actually somehow kind of liked this movie. idk why... just did
"Saying scientific words that mean nothing".
That is why we have geiger counters for example.
lol he meant they mean nothing to the plot you idiot.

Gabrihel, well I agree with you on one thing, Warcraft is an awesome movie.
@@Gadget-Walkmen He also suffers from being typecast as pretty much the same musclebound good guy in every single movie. Y’know, like most action hero actors. The Schwarzenegger Syndrome.
@@Ett.Gammalt.Bergtroll that’s what all big muscular guys go through. That’s it and nothing wrong with that and Arnold has been in ALOT of roles in movies!
They made a DOOM movie without Doom Guy or anything related to Hell
HundredJono So it's also a Resident Evil movie rip off too. A virus that infects people and turns them into monsters. Except for the main character, who instead gets super powers.
This was based on Doom 3, not the original Doom. at it says in the Doom 3 wiki.
and still it has nothing to do with doom 3
jose miguel briceño -yeah even though the monsters here almost looked like in the actual game.-
Only The Pinky and IMP, tgats where The simmilarities end
The BFG and the end sequence with the first person shooter was so much fun!!! You really needed to see this in the cinema with people howling at all the crazy stuff. The main reason I saw this is that I was living in Prague, where it was shot and one of my friends was an extra as one of the scientists. Plus the nostalgia of playing the original game, because even non-gamers played Doom when it first came out
I love this movie. I’m not saying it’s good but I love it
Compares two ENTIRELY different quotes.
"If it breathes, kill it." Meaning everyone and everything that is alive here needs to be executed.
To
"If it bleeds, we can kill it." Meaning it isn't immortal, we have a fighting chance...
Sneaking around while fighting demons is the antithesis of what Doom is all about
Iroquois Plisken Like I said....
Ben Wasserman yes but it doesn't make for an interesting movie...watching them endlessly wander around isn't cinematic, wandering around in a video game is because it's necessary, practical!
Ben Wasserman only doom 3. Doomguy doesnt sneak
Richard Desmond then maybe Doom wasn't the best video game to based this movie off of.
They're not even demons. They're closer to mutants. Movie would've been better with a bigger focus on action, with a few fireballs flying around.

shizuwolf fucking awesome
Same. I just loved the movie overall! I mean, I knew I shouldn't take it too seriously and it was honestly pretty fun!
Me too
It's the best part of the movie, and I thought it was cool when I was a 15-year-old kid.

4.) I find it incredibly badass when a movie takes a huge action star (the rock) and completely catches the audience by surprise by turning them into the bad guy and having the 2nd "action hero" (karl urban) take his place, that was risk and man did it work lol
5.) the moments where the movie catched classic stereotypes and pointed them out with hilarious forms was pure gold (the rock saying (I'm not supposed to die- BREAKING THE 3RD WALL LIKE THE HE KNOWS HES IN A MOVIE lol) wheel chair guy saying "oh theres something behind me isn't there" like fuck that's when someone gets fucked up and that's me" etc-etc.

Out of all the criticism about this movie that last fight scene is one of my favorites. If there is something in this movie that saves it, is that last fight scene. Pinky is a monster type in the game, the big gorilla/pig things. So when the guy at the Mars base meets the squad and says "Call me Pinky," I knew where my expectations should rest. They had Mars and Hell to use as a setting but gave us ... hallways... Could have been classic.
This movie is definitely based off of Doom 3. The dark lighting, the attempt at horror, less of a focus on action, I'm getting a lot of Doom 3 vibes.

Aaaaww you didnt have my favorit Dwayne scene, the one were they are shooting through a nano door at the hoard of monsters coming at them, and Dwayne gets his foot caught by one of the monsters and goes ”Im not supposed to die!?”. Its fucking hilarious
5:56 Fun fact, the actor who plays Goat, the one who cuts his arm after taking the Lord's name in vain, is Ben Daniels the same actor who played the main priest, Father Marcus on the Exorcist tv series and he was also in Rogue One as General Merrick too. Awesome review, Chris, I LOL'ed.
