What’s kinda brilliant about this is that it’s not actually too far fetched to believe that in a certain timeline Peter’s guilt and sense of responsibility could lead him down a dark path trying to save everyone he lost

But the most fucked up thing about this is, they always find a way to make Peter Parker‘s future of success some sort of downfall. He’s one of the only heroes and marvel who’s future they always make him a bomb a loser or struggling not much different performer worse than when he was a teenager. And then out of the few possible realities he’s a success now he’s a villain. They just love to fuck with this character we love so much.

Still an underated game, i swear it is.
I think since this game falls under the shadow of shattered dimensions, people feel that it just pales in comparison. Personally, i enjoyed the game from start to end: the gameplay, the upgrades the graphics, the dialouge. It was a spectacular experience.
True, even seeing the Series of Animated movements in a single cutscene was impressive. It was quite Spectacular indeed. ( ͡~ ͜ʖ ͡°)
I mean, to be fair, it’s a spin-off game from Shattered-Dimensions. Take place right after that game, I believe. But the story is still good, just a little too paced.

For a completely linear Spider-Man game that takes place in one building... this was a pretty damn good game.
The voice acting for Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2099, (Josh Keaton and Christopher Daniel Barnes), was phenomenal. Loved this game.

Anti-Venom, Doc Ock, alternate forms, comic book characters otherwise not seen in movies.
A classic plot twist that commonly occurs with the time-travel theme of having yourself be your own enemy.
Different timeline Spider-men that are each original and have slightly different gameplay.
The idea of time-travel and broken timelines are included in the final boss fight and not just visual effects.
Funny quips and interactions between Spider-Man/Peter Parker and any other character.
This was a great game for it's time! Heck, in my opinion it's top 3; below or above PS4 Spider-Man
The worst part of this game is the fact that there’s an Easter egg that basically makes the entire Bossfight stupidly pointless. Just before Miguel jumped down the hole at 2:25 if you go behind the desk you’ll see the tablet of order and chaos meaning that the Parker of the future could’ve brought that with him making him self a ruler over dimensions as well as using the time energy to rewrite the timeline meaning he should’ve been impossible to stop.
There is a very real possibility that future Peter was playing a Xanatos Gambit, he said it himself that there was a moment in his past where he lost everyone and that was the catalyst for him to become what he is in the future. Maybe him fighting instead of using the tablet is a way to test the old him and Miguel, if they are strong enough to beat him they will be able to stop the one moment that made him lose everyone, if not he completes his plan and rewrites the universe, even if he loses he obtains what he wanted.
@@imatiu That maybe the case but how do you know that by shutting down future Parker’s plan doesn’t erase the event from past Parker’s mind after the timeline is fixed.

As cool and interesting this game was. Spiderman PS4 is still one of my favorite spiderman games because while it does focus on spiderman. It actually remembers who’s under the mask. And doesn’t just bring up Spider-Man’s loved ones, for the simple sake of just using them as hostages.
It’s a story about Peter Parker, who’s secret identity is spiderman. And that is what all other spiderman games had failed to grasp for ages.
Yeah, although i personally have some issues with some of the writing, that's one thing i really appreciate about it. The previous games either ignored the Peter Parker identity altogether or they treated it as a side thing. SM PS4 did manage to convey that Peter Parker is the main character and Spider-Man is his secret identity.
spider-man ps4 has the quality of a series or a movie.. the storytelling of the world and its character are the main focus, although we do have an awesome gameplay, web-swing, city... Just compare the final fight for edge of time with insomniac games... you clearly see edge of time is an old game rushed as hell by activision when the focus was the gameplay, you don't have more than a minute end cutscene and thats it, end of story.. ps4 game has a huge improvement in characters drama, building their story arc, its on another level

The game's kinda under-received when it first came out
Why do you remember it? Simple:
“Time is an illusion, and so is death” What you see as alternate time lines is actually other universes/realities/dimensions. In other words; Multiverses (or rather Spiderverse)
Meaning, there are multiple possible ways to die and only a way to prevent that is to keep on fighting so the time doesn't go with it.
Its all about changing your fate.

I think it’s cool that Miguel fought Parker and Parker fought anti venom because Parker was what Miguel was always trying to be and when he beat him, it was more of a sign that he shouldn’t have to be peter Parker, and peter Parker fighting antivenom was cool because in the very beginning of the game, Antivenom seemed like the ultimate counterpick to Spider-Man because he could drain his powers and stuff, and in the original timeline he even killed Parker
I absolutely can't wait to see Miguel in a full movie of his own. That Into The Spider-Verse credits scene got me hype for the future though.

You know, looking back at it, I really think we took last gen's limited hardware for granted. I mean, the game really looks pretty good and still holds up very well today, but back then we were like: it looks meh, boring, outdated, consoles are holding back the game devs...etc!
I'm just impressed at how much devs where able to squeeze out of last gen. And I still am, looking at how the Switch is still rocking it even though it's comparatively last gen hardware!

With all of the power the PS5 can do, I hope in Spider-Man 2, IF the 2099 suit is back, they bring back that "pulse" effect. It added a level of awesome to it.
Holy shock 2099 is voiced by 90s animated series Spider-Man😮😲🤯 (pretense never played this game before)
Despite the game being almost 10 years old the graphics in the cutscenes actually still REALLY hold up

Was in my recommendation from out of nowhere but its reminded me of how beautiful this game was. I think I'll replay this today
