The thing that you thought was ginger is actually “ATSARA”. It is pickled young papaya and carrots ♥️ And the black dipping sauce is a mix of soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, onions, garlic (chili is optional)! 😊 You two are amazing! Loved watching every second! Now, i’m hungry! 😅

I'm from the Philippines and you ate all the classic Filipino dishes that everyone likes. The one you ate that you do not what its called, its atsara it's made of unripe papaya, it's eaten as a side dish to complement any dishes. Filipinos love dipping sauce. Most of the sauces is made of vinegar with soy sauce, calamansi some sugar, garlic, chili to taste. It's defintely okay to eat with your hands in the Philippines but if you are in a formal restaurant or gathering you will eat with utensils/silverware.

I've been watching since mochi roulette and my Filipino heart is so happy to see you finally have a Filipino food feast! And you ate with your hands 😭 That's such an appreciation for our culture. And you guys enjoyed it!!!
The Black sauce is a combination of vinegar and soy sauce. The ginger thing is like a side dish since your all eating meat/ savory dishes. Its made of papaya, carrots, bell peppers, soaked in vinegar with sugar.
PS. SISIG IS MY FAVE TOO!

That pickled in a small tub is called achara made up of papaya, ginger, vinegar some bell peppers its very common specially when u have that pork knuckles or grilled pork. That black sauce made up of soy sauce and kalamasi(filipino lime) sometimes we mix with some spices like onion, tomatoes, chili, garlic and ginger 😁. Filipino home food is simply the best ❤️ new viewers from Philippines. Luv how u guys tried different varieties of food from different country luv Jordan how he was so openly discribe the food on its own.

Anyway, the Black Dip or Sawsawan (in our native language) is soya sauce base with vinegar, black pepper and optional ingredients like onion, garlic, sugar, chillies. Depending on your taste buds on how you want to balance the saltiness, sweetness, sourness or spicy hot.
Jordan is so remarkable as he enjoyed Filipino food and even used his hands to eat like an expert. 👍

9:25 atsara. It is somewhat sour. It is pickled unripe papaya, carrots, bell pepper. They do is they squeeze all the ingredients before they cook it in vinegar. Cooled and chilled, one of my favorite side dishes when there's so much fat.

This is making me hungry!!! 💗 black sauce i think is soy sauce probably mixed with vinegar to get rid of oily taste of crispy pata which is goooddd even without sauce (i am craving it.) The salad thing that looks like shredded ginger is actually pickled unripe papaya and carrots.

what they gave you is called "Atsara/Atchara".. it's shredded papaya, carrots, ginger, bell pepper, onion and garlic pickled in sweet vinegar. It is often served as a side dish. The black sauce is soy sauce that's been seasoned. Crispy pata is usually dipped in soy sauce with vinegar or calamansi with fresh onions or just vinegar with lots of garlic and oninons topped with a local chilli called Labuyo.
