Actually i hope that people will get so mad they will go back to real life shopping with someone actually knowing shit about the products he sells and ready to give you some advice. The whole itnernet shopping just shows how stupid and wrong capitalism is. Every single good idea and concept gets destroyed by capitalism. I personally only order online specific product that i already know very much about. If i want something and dont have knowledge about the product or industry i go to some local store and let advice me. I check the average price on the internet and if its not like +50 % in local store i will buy it right there as a thanks for the adivce.

Amazon used to be a reliable place to find cheaper deals on things you could find in stores, but two things happened: 1) stores started checking Amazon to adjust their prices and 2) sellers started figuring out which stores did or didn't matter in terms of price competition so they could raise prices.
It took me a year to notice that I was paying pretty much the same price as I'd get it as a Best Buy or Target or Home Depot. For obscure/niche products you often get waaaay better prices at specialty stores, but those stores are rare and infrequent and city folk rarely realize they exist.

What I really hate about Amazon is how when you specify a name brand product they'll try and direct you to a low end knockoff instead, frequently with the actual counterfeit brand name much less visible than the name brand product it's "compatible" with. There's generally a reason why I'm specifying Stihl or Shimano or whatever brand it is that I'm willing to pay more for.

    • @antoy384

Actually they practice “mingling”. They “mingle” articles with the same SKU, whether they come from the official provider or from “resellers”. So if you buy a DELL screen, well, it could be a knock-off as long as the knockoff prints DELL on it and the same reference number.
It’s probably illegal but no country wants to do a trial to Amazon.

    • @kevinmach730

It's gotten to the point that Amazon is greedy and companies with legit, in-demand products refuse to sell on there. So they try to suggest a cheap knock-off. I noticed this a few years ago and adjusted my purchasing behavior. Since you mentioned the cycling category, I was looking for a really high-end pair of cycling shorts a couple of years ago where quality was way more important than price, and I knew not to even bother looking on Amazon.

For those who don't know, gaming chairs are a total sham. They're designed after race car seats which serve a function vastly different to sitting in front of a desk. Race car seats are designed to center the driver and prevent movements what with all of the car vibrations and bumps. You actually need to move around and shift in your chair when you sit by a desk, to spread your legs or whatever is comfortable. When you put a race car seat on an office chair, you get very lousy results, and many people will report back pains soon after buying such a chair.
Get yourself an office chair. Those were optimized for decades for the function of sitting in an office by a desk.

There's basically a few companies in China that make them, and if you have the startup capital to order a large shipment of them, you can get whatever company logo you dream up rubberstamped on them and just start selling them on Amazon for a large profit per chair. Regardless of the brand, most of those chairs on Amazon are quite literally the same chair, with whatever color options and branding a given startup worked out with the manufacturer.

I have one sitting around barely used, despite having had it for about 5 years at this point (I should really throw it out...), because it's just so hard and uncomfortable. It's also badly weighted and you often feel like the whole thing is going to slip out from under you if you lean back just slightly too far. The pillows that come with it are about as hard as the chair and the neck pillow especially is needlessly fat so that it bends your neck forward at an uncomfortable angle rather than supporting it.

Actually, it boggles your *mind*. Unless you *are* your mind, which makes sense, because the atoms and molecules which make up your body are continually swapped out for others as you eat and then also shed things. In which case, since your mind is in your brain, which is part of that molecule-swap deal, maybe you're just your collection of memories, hopes, fears, and dreams. But since the past and future are illusions your brain tricks you with to keep you eating and doing stuff, the present is all there is. But as your understanding of the present is a model fed to your brain in the form of electric impulses so that you can't experience anything directly without the model's mediation, why are you so concerned about other people's illusory memories of how their brain interpreted their model of a chair? Sit in one, and see what you think! If you actually exist.

Customer support got me a replacement, and it happened again a few months later in the exact same place.
I got one more replacement, and months later (never having had the product for over 6 months) it breaks in the exact same place.
