Hey guys! This video is a re-upload because the original version of this episode was no longer viewable. We'll be posting these re-uploads every Saturday as well as every Thursday during our September vacation. There are still NEW sins videos every Tuesday, and new ones every Thursday after our September vacation.
Here’s a sin. when mourning Han Leia and Chewbacca, the two most important people in his life, walk right past each other without so much as a glance and Leia decides to super hug Rey, the girl she just met, instead because girl power
No not because girl power, because mistake. JJ admitted that was dumb... but since Leia is force sensitive she could tell Rey was the new new hope. Still that was wrong.
@@lateflipp54 That's the same way I feel. Because of political correctness, she's not even a trainee yet and already she takes on a force-strong veteran and hands him his ass. It took Luke Skywalker almost two full movies to finally be a worthy opponent for Lord Vader. And he was the second most force powerful Jedi ever!
@@FlameDarkfire He let go of smuggling in the first 2 movies tho. I'm sure that's literally Hans character arc, from selfish smuggler to Han the hero, volunteering for the Endor mission and all.
In a talk he had with Leia, he said after they lost Luke and Ben, they both went back to the only thing they were ever good at. (Leia leading the rebellion, and Han being a smuggler.)
Because after spending billions on acquiring the franchise, Bob Iger wanted to take the safest, least creative path with the new movies and so commanded that everything be reset back to ANH. And so many problems fell out of that one decision.
@@garethoneill5676 Same thing happened to the clones. Defective clone trainees like 99 were assigned as maintenance on Kamiino if they failed their training.
Tomfoolery1972 it was stolen to be kept as a valuable ship ‘because’ it was used to blow up both Death Stars, why would you put it in a museum if it’s that powerful and fast?
When it was simply this film alone, I thought that Snoke had trained Kylo, and Snoke wasn't a Sith Lord. So, Kylo wasn't trained to use the saber as a Jedi would have been. It was clear that he just used it as a cudgel.
@@crabbieappleton interesting idea tbh yet the whole situation is still very retarded and clearly little thoughts nor fucks were given. Especially when I think in this movie you also hear that kylo ren was trained by Luke? Unless I remember that completely wrong.
Prankster Boy okay and? Anakin Skywalker has to train too. He lost against count dooku and trained harder and defeated him. Then literally became the strongest. He was op but they made Rey look like a god compared to Darth Vader. And He was the chosen one. Rey literally picks up a lightsaber and suddenly knows how to fight with it. I get it is implied that she has some type of combat training because of the stick she used to carry around with her but I mean it’s dumb. Kylo should’ve clearly been stronger because he had training from Luke skywalker and later Snoke who turned out to be a clone palpatine controlled because why not. but basically what seems like plot armor makes her equal to kylo. Later becoming even stronger than Him. That’s why these movies are so bad and should stick with just one director
One thing I never understood was how Rey never had lightsaber training but easily defeated Kylo Ren in a 1v1. Kylo also was more force advanced than Rey so he could have easily thrown her around.
She already was good at fighting with a big stick, and he was injured and in emotional shock, and had never completed his training either. She shouldn't have been that good at shooting, though
@@martalaatsch8358 He was injured so I can just about buy the lightsabre fight, what I can't buy is her being more proficient in the use of the force per se when she's able to grab the lightsabre against his 'force will'.
@@nighttrain1236 tue movie k8nd of implies it happened because the lightsaber was rightfully hers and not Kylos. Which raises the question of why we have this whole "the wand chooses the wizard" theme all of a sudden, but it doesn't exactly contradict anything that was important earlier... M8ght also be because she accidentally learned a bunch of his training when their minds connected
@@martalaatsch8358 That's intriguing but I don't know of anything in the Star War lore that says objects can become enchanted like that (i.e., the lightsabre has a 'will'), although objects can have 'power' IIRC.
Why does everyone say that it's a shadow of a ship in the opening scene, it's a silhouette. You can tell because even the stars in the background are blocked out.
in order for that side of the planet to be illuminated as it is, (gibbous) and given that the ship is symmetrical, and how perspective works, at least part of the bottom of the ship should have been illuminated. In order to have that shot work out, the planet would have had to be illuminated at less than half.
"Master, our last death star failed due to a small gap in the shields. A single shot penetrated them and blew the whole thing up." "OK, we'll just make a new one. But instead of having a small gap where a shot can be fired through, we'll just have a large enough gap that A WHOLE SPACESHIP CAN FIT THROUGH IT." "Yes, master."
I defend the original weakness because: A) It was intentional on behalf of Mads Mikkelson. 2) It wasn't the shields. D) It was the exhaust port for the core.
@@samuelbarber4154 For the second time didn't the Bothan spies pass the info about it existing and not being completed, but the Emperor revealed that he knew about the Bothans and that the death star was actually fully operational, and that he had prepared for their attack on the shield generator? But the emperor didn't expect the natives of Endor to be a problem. False retreat to gain territorial advantage in order to employ a decisive counter-attack. Aka ITS A TRAP!
Captain Phasma lowering the shields while offering zero resistance is even more lame after it was revealed in The Last Jedi that her armor is blaster-proof. So why would she do anything at gunpoint again, while wearing gun-proof armor?
In the shot just before Kylo kills Han, it shows Han gripping tightly onto his lightsaber. Then, in the next shot, both his arms are at his side and he gets killed.
It could have been corny and a little cheap, but I think that it would've been cute for Han to turn to Leia, before leaving again, and say, "I love you," then have Leia say, "I know."
5:02 "You ever fly this thing?" "No-" 5:22 Right after almost completely crashing the ship she does some friggin trick with a ship she has never used The fact they built a superweapon after it has been done two times without ANYONE noticing is a crucial error imo
0:19 1. That's not how shadows work. If the ship was close to the sun, there'd be no visible shadow on the planet unless the ship were almost as big as the sun. To get this shadow the ship would have to be almost the size of our moon and be the distance of our moon relative to the sun and the earth. To get this shadow using a ship of this size, you'd need a small light source that was as powerful as a sun - but that would light up the darkened side of the planet we see, as would the sun if this were a shadow being cast by a sun. 2. It's not a shadow. It's the ship.
It was more of a Rian Johnson retcon at that point, they had to make Phasma intimidating or something. Phasma was a waste of a character anyways, just move on.
Those handrails @16:10 that we see near the ships at the rebel base always bugged me. Those are the actual handrails at the filming location in England, but they never bothered to remove them or modify them to make it look like something from the world of Star Wars.
LMAO. It looks like an old airbase. One thing that always bugged me is all the fingerprints over Captain Phasma's chrome helmet. It's so obvious that these fingerprints are from the actors handling the prop. At least in the Last Jedi, the fingerprints are gone.
I’m gonna be honest with you. As a pilot of commercial aircraft. You don’t need keys or anything to start the aircraft other that turning on all the systems, so that shouldn’t be a sin.
@@bartok1378 He meant that cars are common in our universe as ships in star wars universe, even if it wasnt a car, it would be considered a van or a truck or something simmilar...
You should have added at least 500 sins for people in other star systems being able to see the planets being destroyed with their Mk 1 eye balls. Or for the fact those planets were so close to each other as to be in walking distance... The same as Han Solo's ship could detect the Falcon half a galaxy away, yet his still managed to lose it and not find it in seconds. These people need to learn to Galaxy! "Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space."
The whole film is riddled with perspective problems that the original trilogy use "the Force" to cover, where as JJ just had it so everywhere was in close proximity. You only have to see the Kelvin Timeline Star Trek first movie to see that.
They could see the planets exploding because it was super bright. Cause come on we can see lighthouses from a couple miles away so why can't we see something much bigger and brighter even if it's hundreds of thousands of miles away. So f u
@Duckiez 175 Because light does not travel instantly. The planets further away would require more time for the light to travel to their eyes; therefore the planets closest would be seen first then the planets further and further. Basic physics. It takes 8 minutes and 20 seconds approximately for light to travel from our sun to the earth. And that is a tiny distant relative to the universe. It has nothing to do with the brightness...
It’s either 1) because it’s the Force really calling to her in the form of the lightsaber as she is destined to bring balance or 2) just an easy write in for the movie to have both fan service and plot convenience
You make an excellent point about Adam driver. It’s hard to take him seriously as a Sith Lord. He is more of an EMO with a glow stick than Anakin was in the prequel’s. 🤔🤷🏻♂️
You REMOVED a sin for Rey auto figuring out the Jedi mind trick??!! That was TOTAL BS. No one could've GUESSED that. Luke had to at least have it demonstrated in front of him by Obi-wan. Rey just being awesome with the force WITH ABSOLUTLEY NO TRAINING was stupid.
@@Zhaggysfaction not zero he had 3 years worth of trial and error, the advice of others and dangerous missions to help him hone his skills unlike Rey who performed a mind trick on a fully aware and unwilling trooper, something that she had never seen or heard of.
@@ricardoquintero7160 Yes but in ep4 Luke had no idea what the force or the jedi were. He did not know what they could even do so for all we know, in the wampa cave, he didn't know you can you use the force to lift things. Yeah there probably may have been some people around him that knew that you could do that. And I'm talking about the movies only, I don't know about other canon material. Maybe a little off-topis but for instance Harry Potter could do things he did not know he could as a child like speaking to snakes and letting the snake out of his cage or whatever it was. And these types of sitations occur in real life as well. Some people are so talented in something that they can do it to a high level the first time they try it, in sports or art or whatever. And Rey did know about the force and what Jedis can do, at least some of it. Yeah she did learn pretty fas I agree, but we are talking about a fantasy world with the this super magical power that can control the universe, is it really that hard to imagine that some individuals can grasp it faster than others and have a more natural talent for it? At least when she got a hint that she had some force sensitivity in her, she knew what to look for. Also the first order troopers were mind controlled in the first place so they might have been easier to use mind trick on anyway.
@@Zhaggysfaction Zhaggysfaction really? The Force and magic are completely different bro. The Force must be harnessed and controlled where as magic in the Harry Potter universe starts to manifest at puberty and is very closely linked to emotions. Most wizards have little episodes like that where they lash out with their magic abilities but most didn't live with the Dursleys. Luke had an idea about what Jedi were by the way when Ben told him that he and his father were once Jedi he didn't question it and he didin fact have some minimal instruction in the Force from the film as when Ben is mentoring him in the Falcon and when he again tells him during the trench run to use the Force Luke is not overwhelmed with confusion. If you read some canon material particularly Heir to the Jedi it gives you insight into some of his life right after ANH and his learning of telekinesis. So yes even the most gifted young Jedi had to learn a skill with instruction rather than just give it a go without any insight or outside help.
@@androzani84productions85 - Snoke, potential lineage for Rey, Knights of Ren, Luke's jedi school, etc. I didnt care for the movie, like at all, but there was still stuff to do later on.
It set up two hours of moronic plot points that would just be shredded in the next installment. Yep and thank Goodness for that! The Last Jedi may not be anywhere near the level of the OT or even Rogue One but it's a million times better than this atrocity!!!
Supreme Leader of *「Z A W A R U D O」* Supreme Leader of *「Z A W A R U D O」* I guess you prefer alien titty milking, your mom jokes, casino planet and Rose over a coherent plot. I seem to recall stating just now that "The Last Jedi" may not be anywhere near the level of the OT or even Rogue One. Nowhere did I say The Last Jedi didn't have problems! The Casino Planet? Yes I liked it, The real problem with that part of the film was that it ended up being pointless to the plot but there was nothing wrong with it in itself. Your mom jokes? Sorry I must have missed those, I have only watched TLJ twice so far so excuse me if I haven't got it memorized. Rose? Yes, she's awful! I won't defend Rose as a character because what she did at the end of TLJ was INDEFENSIBLE! Alien milking? First of all those are UDDERS! Those creatures are NOT Humans! Luke may as well have been milking cattle! Why is it that people today feel disgust at where we get milk from? Secondly...That's called worldbuilding! Johnson was giving us some more elements to Star Wars lore! Thirdly...Do you get disgusted at the earwig in Wrath of Khan? The Last Jedi had plenty of problems BUT for some reason it gets lots of flak for stuff that TFA forced upon it! What did you think Luke was doing running off and hiding in TFA! Kylo Ren was a cardboard cut-out in TFA, A whiny brat who kills his father for the utterly indefensible reason that his father was a good man and he wanted to be Evil! In TLJ he's given REAL motivations and character building moments! It was JJ in TFA who decided to wipe out 5 planets simultaneously with a weapon fired from another planet LIGHT YEARS away! Yep that's right, those lasers should have taken YEARS to reach those planets!!! TFA destroyed Star Wars future continuity! Rogue One is a prequel and works/fits into canon {with a few small issues}. TLJ is an entirely new franchise and I don't treat it as Star Wars canon {because TFA cut that cord!} - However it is in its own right a perfectly decent Sci-Fi movie just like Serenity or Stargate or Independence Day or even GotG.
@@franohmsford7548 - So you're saying the film that had an opportunity to improve upon the wreck that was TFA by making sense of what was established, but instead chose to throw its toys out of the pram and spend two and a half hours coloring outside the lines with it's own feces is somehow better?
@@beckettmaffei Yeah thats what they're saying. They're saying that he likes this movie so he is going extremely easy on it and not giving it all the sins it deserves.
I'm pretty sure that was to get over the pain so he could fight. In fact, it was sinful that Finn last even a couple seconds in a fight with Kylo Ren, but, I personally forgave it because Kylo was injured.
I agree with the OP. BittyBitch-8 will occasionally have to waste time truffle shuffling to get certain tools into position because of his round shape and rolling should cause damage to his gear panels, eventually bending them open or pinning them shut. Aarron Lambo You're the loser that has time to whine like a bitch about people using cliches. You get a life, worthless piece of shit.
5:20 ~ Definitely an awesome shot, but also the biggest (valid) reason for Rey being called a Mary Sue. She's never flown the ship (probably never even flown ANY Correllian YT type ship), to our knowledge she's never even been off planet in her adult life, no known reason to pilot anything more than a land-speeder, and suddenly she's flying the Falcon, a ship that "hasn't been off the ground in years", and doing _atmospheric stunt flying_ with a ship she's never flown?! Not to mention a ship that is historically known to be a little "cranky"?? (I can't remember the correct word as applied to vehicles) I could maybe accept some trick flying in space, with no gravity to combat, even on the Falcon, but sure as hell not in mid-atmosphere.
@@enderlionheart4497 ~ In typing a similar version of this comment on another video, I finally realized that the word I was looking for is "temperamental".
Remember when Han and Leia were married in another universe and had babby jedi twins? Then Disney came along and blew them all up with their universe destroyer? I 'member :p
They had 3 kids. Anakin was born after the twins. And that is canon. This is just poor fanfic with a really big budget. Han is alive and Chewie is dead.
It's been a long time since I read the books. I'd somehow forgotten about Anakin. But I still refuse the death of either Chewbacca or Han. I like my favorites to remain alive and whole! :B The person who wrote the new Star Wars stuff has a special place reserved for them in hell I think.
Two possibilities. Apparently it is just so good they could not sin it at all! Or Disney has kid napped some of them and are holding them hostage on Marvels behalf.
No sin for Rey being able to fly a ship the way she did even though she has never flown that kind of ship before (or even any kind of space ship maybe). Their escpae from Jakku is most unbeliveble because of that imo. You remove sins for Rey being able to use force powers in the way she did when she haven't even had 5 minutesof training? TRAITOR! Rey, a force user, yes, training, none, still being able to block Kylo trying to read her mind, I can accept that but how the hell does she know how to do a jedi mind trick? How does she even know it exists? And I can't belive that Kylo Ren who has hade force training sence he was a child would lose a "pull the lightsaber" competion with Rey who has had no training. Remember, the are equally strong in that game in the Last Jedi movie but in this movie she is stronger, what the fuck gives?
zwippie92 Rey did fly ships before, she says it after the Falcon chase. And if you can fly one ship, you can pretty much fly any ship. Remember, the battle of Yavin was the first time Luke flew an X-Wing.
And don't forget, Rey was talking to Han about the "modifications" Unkar made to it, meaning that she had at least been on the ship a few times. And flying has never been shown to be that hard in this franchise, so why is it such a big deal? Oh yeah, women, cooties, all that....
Actually there is a film theory that explains, base on Solo the movie, that the millenium falcon actually fly's itself because it has the brain of a very skilled android pilot. So Rey flying the millenium falcon as a pro being a noob is very possible.
If Rey has heard the legend of Luke Skywalker and the Jedi, she's probably heard about the jedi mind trick. It's not THAT far fetched she decided to try it with nothing to lose. Besides that, no one really disagrees with you.
The irony (and tragedy) about TFA and the Last Jedi, is that if they had just kept a modicum of respect for the originals, if they’d trusted the original magic, innocence and simplicity of the original Star Wars movies (e.g. an actor just waving their hand, whilst performing a Jedi mind trick to indicate something ‘special’ was happening etc etc) then I think they would have reinvented the originals in an organic and natural way. Instead, by purposefully setting out to reinvent the stories and unapologetically modernise from the outset, they have achieved these bathetic clusterf*cks in a forced ‘re-boot’ of a ‘franchise’... two words that should not be associated with great film making. You don’t need to sell a good story, it should sell itself as the originals massively proved. My point is that the success of the original was based on childlike wonder and mystery around the story and characters. I’m not saying it was Shakespeare and my criticism isn’t based on massive retrospective geekfan disappointment - I’m not that sort of critic or fan. The new films failed/are failing because they confuse childLIKE wonder with childISH wonder, the latter being moronic and absurd (in an adult), the former being rare and beautiful and worth pursuing. In other words, they didn’t have the courage of their original’s conviction. Every good film (and all good art for that matter) should inspire childlike awe in its viewer, regardless of age, and they shouldn’t seek to add qualifiers to that with sideways glances to the audience. To be more direct, we all know why they turned their back on the original audiences and directed their attention to redefining a new generation of fans: the pursuit of a guaranteed return on a financial investment. The calculated profit driven message being that ALL of you are special, ALL of you can use the force and therefore ALL of you can buy these cuddly Ewok variations for $$$, rather than ‘in a galaxy far far away, something incredible and completely different to what you’ve ever experienced or ever will experience happened which is why it is worth telling you about it...” It is a shame and a missed opportunity to continue something that was worth continuing.
The answer to your question is: “Yes, I don’t ‘don’t understand’ Stars Wars, at all”. I’m guessing you don’t understand double negatives at all, and also the English language, at all. Still, you seem to have an incredibly worthwhile life trolling Star Wars comments on TH-cam... Good luck with that.
"The new films failed..." Failed as in being a massive critical and commercial success, with TFA sitting at an RT rating of 93% and even adjusted for ticket price inflation earning more money at the box office than any Star War film save the original (and that has had more than one release), or failed as in triggered a bunch of butthurt fanboys endlessly whinging online?
@@blupunk01 yes agreed it made bank but that's because of the already fan base of d originals and most of dem have smallies who dey brought to see it. But you must concede all new movies lack encreditable writers possibly due that so many of them ventured down different avenues after the big strike a few years ago and branched off into television and the original comment you smeered was correct ep 7 was a poorly conceived film that was more focused on satisfying the investors rather than leaving a new powerful thought provoking saga that ironically would make more money in the long run BB8 is a bitch.
1:14, 10:08, 14:45 - it IS an insult and it is a HUGE betrayal. As it turns out, in the novel this script is based on, Finn, as all new order storm troopers, was taken as a young child, young enough not to know his parents, so that he could be trained to be incredibly loyal and efficient (combining the training style of clone troopers with the empire's storm troopers). Since they were taken so young, their squad mates became their family as they trained for so long with them. back at the start of the movie, the trooper that 'marks' Finn is actually one of his squad he grew up with, a clumsy trooper that was somewhat looked down upon and Finn treated like a brother. then later on at Mazz's, the trooper who throws down his gun (though seriously has a blaster ever beat a lightsaber since order 66?) was another member of Finn's squad. To the storm troopers Finn 'grew up' with, he is a traitor. I know ultimately you don't care about this, because it's in the novel and i myself didn't now about this until very recently. However, i think it is a sin that this bond between these other 2 storm troopers wasn't explained better, i think it would've been great to expand on Finn's internal conflict as he ultimately betrays what was his family and the only life he knew, rising from being a nameless cog in the machine to a great resistance leader like Poe, a theme that seems to be prevalent in the star wars franchise - rising from nothingness.
the book was released AFTER the movie not before. So the book is based on the movie (not the other way around) they also used the book to fill in a lot of the oops makes no sense and we need to make these characters more bad ass issues of the movie....
OMFG, removing a sin for the no-training Jedi mind trick? You've got to be kidding me... PS. I remember being disappointed when I thought the new jedi was going to be a former Stormtrooper. I remember instead slowly becoming outright disgusted with the MaSu-Rey alternative that we got. That combat scene with baby-tanrum Ren/Ben...
Nyarlathotep Flagg there is so much wrong with this movie and yet your problem is a female Jedi?? 🤦♂️🤦♂️Cmon man But like yea how tf did she even know that mind tricks were a thing. I feel like he’s a little bit biased towards Star Wars movies in general considering how many sins were taken off for basically nothing
@@dhruvgirgenti8268 Nyarla literally said nothing about a female jedi and you are both at the same point with the absurdity of untrained mind tricks. Read it again more arefully.

@@dhruvgirgenti8268 What, stormtroopers cant be female? He wanted a former stormtrooper to be a Jedi, that's an awesome idea it would explain some military training, maybe some force knowledge and a personal reason to hate the First Order. He didnt even mention gender but nah hop up on that high horse.
Wow, so after the battle of Hogwarts, William Weasley became a stormtrooper and eventually became Star wars Hitler. Live long enough, and you will see the hero become the villain, eh?
Kylo stopping the blaster shot was amazing, except it completely ruins any blaster fire shot at him after this scene and makes me wonder how he could get shot by Chewie. Chewie was way farther away than Poe when he fired.
Ok, one thing I always wondered about: Were the 5 planets destroyed by the Star Killer base all in the same system? Cause everyone seemed to be watching all the planets being blown up at the same time, in real time. And that would just not be possible to watch, even if they were in the same system.
Yes, the Hosnian system (think that's how you spell it) was destroyed by Starkiller Base. The lasers travelled through hyperspace and we're visible from several systems, which is how they reached the planet so fast.
He's saying that even if they were in the same system people on other planets would definitely not be able to see them destroyed in real time because of how light travels. It travels faster than anything in the universe, but those planets would be hundreds of thousands of miles away from each other, which is a long distance to travel, even for light, which means that the people on other planets, even if they could see the explosion, would be seeing them explode at wildly varying times, perhaps minutes, hours, or even days after they actually did.
@wii g most planets in the same system would be seperated by 10s or 100s of millions of miles. the moon is about a quarter million miles from the earth. any other planets that close to the exploding planet would probably be rendered lifeless rather quick from the debris.
not to mention they absorbed an entire sun to power the Starkiller base, which means they literally could have just left the Hosnian System alone and they'd all die anyway (though, I suppose they could all fly away). Of course, somehow they are in sunlight later when Han pulls that dumb light speed trick, but obviously the bare minimum amount of thought went into these films.
@@charc0al_tv Idk, how did Anakin know how to build a freakin' droid and fly a pod racer with no training or instructions? How did Luke manage to block the lasers in that training session without looking and do that "one in a million" shot in A New Hope? The answer to all of these is, the Force.
Yes. This is something that would have been awesome if covered by even a moment of screen time. One scene of two stormtroopers looking at each other, obviously nervous, and the higher ranking stormtrooper coming by to keep them on mission would have been sufficient. Don't even have to play the name game, but this movie gave us none of that. It could even be shot *now*, and just have nameless, faceless nobodies for the reshoot. Who here could know?
7:47 correction, Luke didn’t just bring the mask from the Death Star and down to Endor, he brought his fathers entire body down with him so that he could have a proper ceremonial death like qui-gon jinn had in the phantom menace
"I thought Skywalker was a myth" makes more sense when you realize people thought the same for Jedis when they were only around until like 16 years before A New Hope.
No. Neither makes any sense at all. It only seemed cool when the first 3 movies were out back in the early 80s. I never liked that crap when Lucas messed it up with the whole other 3 movies. It's like if the the Catholic faith was snuffed out in the 70s and out of the blue no one has ever heard of it ever existing.
@@lanceadcock6300 that's completely different. There are maybe 10,000 Jedi in a galaxy of Millions of planets. The odds of anyone ever seeing a Jedi are astronomically low. Thus people thinking they are a myth isn't too far fetched.
And adding on to your post, before a new hope ya your right, it was astronomically low to see a Jedi, and so everyone could have thought they were a myth. But everyone one should have heard of Luke sky walked in force awakens. I mean he’s the one to destroy two Death Stars and help in taking down the empire. Also since the republic was in command, there was no one who was repressing this knowledge with propaganda.
I had written this on the original video, and so I shall write it again: The Force Awakens (and now The Last Jedi) were extremely underwhelming! While I do not think that it was a bad film, it definitely wasn't a masterpiece like many have claimed it to be. 1.) There was absolutely zero character development from any of the new characters. There was a lot of potential with Finn, yet he was turned into the quippy side-character who is ultimately useless. Meanwhile, Rey was able to achieve far too much without zero training or struggles. She had zero ambitions -- "doing the right thing" isn't a concrete goal -- and wasn't invested in anything. Overall, she is a completely un-compelling character -- compared to other Star Wars female characters like Leia, Ashoka, etc. Finally, Poe was literally missing for half the film (despite being the most charismatic than all of the new characters combined). Captain Phasma and Hux are one-dimensional antagonists. Kylo Ren, the main antagonist, is given more character development than the all other five characters combined! Even in The Last Jedi, NONE of the characters (except Kylo Ren) get any kind of development! It's not a good sign when the villain is given more depth than the protagonists. 2.) The Force Awakens is literally discount-A New Hope. The Star Wars Universe is enormous, yet Disney/LucasFilms created a completely unoriginal film that relied far too much on nostalgia. The Clone Wars is a perfect example of how to expand the Star Wars lore in ways that pay homage to the original installments and create refreshing characters/storylines. Star Wars is one universe where (almost) anything is possible, so take advantage of it! It annoys the hell out of me that they made the extended universe no longer cannon, seeing how those installments had more originality, depth, and soul than these recent Disney cash-grabs.
Honestly I think there is more than enough differences between The Force Awakens and A New Hope. And people who let that ruin the film for them must live a sad life...
Go Op Yep. Also I don’t know how Jeremy praised her trying out the Jedi mind trick. She’s just a Mary Sue with no character flaws. The only reason Palpatine comes back in TROS is because the writers saw how bad their character building was, and they just used a quick cheap move to explain why she was OP. It still doesn’t excuse the writing flaws.
"If you're a fan of Girls, then this moment pulled you straight out of the movie." or if, like me, you'd never seen the show, but still recognised that it was set up as some kind of reveal to finally see Kylo Stimpy's face, it was " ... I have no idea who that is supposed to be."
Yeah see that was the shock: to see that Kylo Ren was human. A young man, at that. The audience (myself included) was expecting to see something like a burnt-up Anakin or even just the cliche Sith look (pale skin, yellow eyes, etc.)
Thanks for reminding me just how bad VII really is. And as bad as VII was, VIII is even fucking worse for completely ignoring every single thing brought up in the one before. Like why does Kylo react so strongly to reports of there being a girl with the missing droid? It's as if he expected it! Or why the lightsaber called out to someone with no connection to it? Just randomly? Why wouldn't Yoda just appear and talk to her? Why couldn't anything other than what happened have happened? These movies are the biggest swing and miss in the history of billion dollar IPs. On par with Blockbuster not buying Netflix back in the early early 2000s.
That's because Abrams wrote an outline for VIII, but then Rian Johnson decided to scrap the whole thing and make it all his way. The story isn't coherent because it's written by 2 separate people with different visions.
I know! And I don't get how they let that happen! Why would a studio not have a unified vision with a coherent plot for not just the third of three movies, but all three movies?! Who doesn't have the foresight to say "perhaps we should have an idea before we execute this thing..." Microwaved memories and shattered expectations (ALL the expectations) do not a story make.
fishymacaroon6, jj is a horrible director, u know a show called "lost"? it was like tfa, full of mystery, u know how he ended "lost"? a show that today, nobody will watch knowing hte ending, there is no rewatch value cuz the way it was ended.... IT WAS ALL A DREAM..... 6 or 7 seasons, and it was all a dream, u know how pissed people were? r? so to use jj as a reason is stupid for several reasons, 1. tfa was a horrible movie, tellme y its a smart idea after u win a war, to run, hide, leave a map to find u, then wait decades to be found, and while waiting, billions if not trillions of people died, and ur best friend....... was he thinknig "well they haven't foundme yet so they don't need my help i guess"? 2. he has a bad history with directing, aka lost 3. unstable char personalities 4, stupid story telling 5. tfa was basically a copy of 4...... 6. leia walking right by chewie to talk to a stranger after han's death. the story isn't coherent cuz it sucks..... tfa sucked from the start, its a copy, and using JJ as an excuse as "maybe it coulda been great" when it was never great, u r a fucking moron if u liked tfa and think its a good movie.. if u like the movie, cool, but if u argue its actually a goodmovie, ur a fucking idiot... and if u expected JJ to make it all good, makes u even a bigger idiot... best example, "how did the lightsaber get here?" the weird orange yoda chick "a story for another time" BRAVO JJ, THIS IS A MASTERPIECE... r u fucking kidding me right now?
There's plenty of continuity errors that Cinemasins fail to pick up. A bigger one in TFA is that Finn had a rifle in his hands when the First Order attacked Takodana and then yells "I don't have a weapon!" when coming outside. Product of a deleted scene in which he, Han and Chewie are stopped by Stormtroopers and instructed to drop their weapons to which Han and Chewie refuse before the building collapses.
Also, why the fuck is it an old - timey wooden chest box. Even the prequals and original movies had 'advanced' boxes. Nope this shit is just wooden. "It's old so it must be wooden" Fuck this movie sucked.
That's not the Star Destroyer's shadow on the planet at the beginning of the video. It's the actual ship, which you can see when it then covers the moon.
5:05 Also, it's the Millennium Falcon, so if Rey's right and it really hasn't been flown in years, what were the people who stole it doing on that planet? And why would they leave it there? And HOW did Han and Chewie get on board in space without getting noticed? 6:00 Does he know her?!
@PixieWrangler I would add sins for that as well. Kylo is able to freeze a blaster shot in mid-air while also freezing Poe at the same time. Vader had a hard time stopping blaster shots without a lightsaber, and he definitely couldn't stop them in mid-air. Somehow a young man is already stronger than the sith lord chosen one after many decades of training. Disney Star Wars has more power escalation than an entire Dragon Ball Z saga.
You dont like them pissing all over the mythos? Super powering an untrained force user? Or letting a new on the job stormtrooper handle a lightsaber and hold his own against a Sith lord? Yeah me either.
@@adamhogan5442 there is a huge difference between deflecting a few shots and literally stopping a laser mid-air while also immobilizing a guy. If he can stop lasers then he can also force a lightsaber to deactivate, or stop someone's heart from beating from a distance, and apparently do multiple of those at the same time.
1:35 He’s removing a sin here after the last thing he said was “something we’ve NEVER seen anyone in a Star Wars Movie do!!”, and will continue to add sins for that same reason in The Last Jedi. *DING*
The reason Rey is looked down upon is that she was able to use certain Force Techniques that it took others including Anakin and Luke Skywalker to learn over time. Even Ahsoka Tano successfully and barely manipulated a guard with the Force with prior training. Rey was able to do it on the first try not even believing in the existence of Luke Skywalker or knowledge of the Force or even feeling a connection until after learning about both. (Added Sin)
Broken Warrior I appreciate the objective, common sense view. For me, even if she could’ve bested him, it makes for bad writing and plot lines. If she can beat him in the first movie with no experience, at such a huge disadvantage- it isn’t believable that she could ever lose to him in the following two movies. A hero should be humbled, or have some battle to fight for and chase, they didn’t give that to Rey, she simply mastered everything with ease. Which sucks, because Daisy Ridley is a great actress and the opening 20 minutes of the first movie showed a lot of promise.
Chewie: Send me to kill Snoke. I won't kill Ben. Conscience: To battle Snoke, strong enough you are not. Chewie: He is like my nephew. I cannot do it. Conscience: Twisted by the Dark Side, young Solo has become. The boy you knew, gone he is. Consumed by Kylo Ren.

akaLog okay spoiler alert
She’s the emperor’s granddaughter obviously she’s powerful
She shouldn't have been that good at shooting, though

and the reason the ship isn't illuminated is because the shot is from the POV of a planet which obviously blocks out the sun.
in order for that side of the planet to be illuminated as it is, (gibbous) and given that the ship is symmetrical, and how perspective works, at least part of the bottom of the ship should have been illuminated. In order to have that shot work out, the planet would have had to be illuminated at less than half.
@@jackassplus hmm maybe ur right, I won't argue with that. so it's still not a sin-free scene in that case. he just didn't get the right one.

"Yes, master."

I defend the original weakness because:
A) It was intentional on behalf of Mads Mikkelson.

Those handrails @16:10 that we see near the ships at the rebel base always bugged me. Those are the actual handrails at the filming location in England, but they never bothered to remove them or modify them to make it look like something from the world of Star Wars.

Solanumtinkr they stayed that Han only found the Falcon because Rey and Finn switched the beacon on by accident.
The whole film is riddled with perspective problems that the original trilogy use "the Force" to cover, where as JJ just had it so everywhere was in close proximity. You only have to see the Kelvin Timeline Star Trek first movie to see that.
Always good to see someone who knows the quote is from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the galaxy! :)

(I can't remember the correct word as applied to vehicles)
I could maybe accept some trick flying in space, with no gravity to combat, even on the Falcon, but sure as hell not in mid-atmosphere.

She had a realistic flight simulator in the Before the Awakening novel, she learned how to fly many different ships
The calculated profit driven message being that ALL of you are special, ALL of you can use the force and therefore ALL of you can buy these cuddly Ewok variations for $$$, rather than ‘in a galaxy far far away, something incredible and completely different to what you’ve ever experienced or ever will experience happened which is why it is worth telling you about it...”
It is a shame and a missed opportunity to continue something that was worth continuing.
You don't understand Star Wars at all, don't you?
Actually it was stated the Storm Troopers at least under the Empire are mostly volunteers

I probably should've mentioned that the "hundreds of thousands of miles" remark was a bare minimum estimate at best lol
not to mention they absorbed an entire sun to power the Starkiller base, which means they literally could have just left the Hosnian System alone and they'd all die anyway (though, I suppose they could all fly away). Of course, somehow they are in sunlight later when Han pulls that dumb light speed trick, but obviously the bare minimum amount of thought went into these films.
I like how you did The Last Jedi first before this.

No it's just equally dumb
There was a Jed council in the Capitol did people think the Senate was a myth?
A force user calling their sword isn't bad assery, that's friggin level 1.
Nah it’s level 1 to call a lightsaber a sword 😂
Aaron Lightsaber is just a more... mystical name for a laser sword, which is actually what they were called originally.
Mary Sue
Sword?
1:09 now that’s some hella prediction skills...
"If you're a fan of Girls, then this moment pulled you straight out of the movie." or if, like me, you'd never seen the show, but still recognised that it was set up as some kind of reveal to finally see Kylo Stimpy's face, it was " ... I have no idea who that is supposed to be."
He was far more intimidating with the mask on.
Who doesn't have the foresight to say "perhaps we should have an idea before we execute this thing..."

A hero should be humbled, or have some battle to fight for and chase, they didn’t give that to Rey, she simply mastered everything with ease. Which sucks, because Daisy Ridley is a great actress and the opening 20 minutes of the first movie showed a lot of promise.
Broken Warrior you’re my type of girl
Chewie: Send me to kill Snoke. I won't kill Ben.
Conscience: To battle Snoke, strong enough you are not.
Chewie: He is like my nephew. I cannot do it.
Conscience: Twisted by the Dark Side, young Solo has become. The boy you knew, gone he is. Consumed by Kylo Ren.
Why was this reuploaded, also how about the Indiana Jones movies
That_Radical_Guy Probably because of every TH-camr's favorite thing, Copyright strikes.
Of course it was. As he told us he'd be doing this month.

Speaking of Star Wars... Everything wrong with Solo!
tbh solo was the best new star wars movie they've made, that's not saying much considering I'd consider episode 3 to be better than it lol
Yes!! But I actually loved Solo
@@Jayzgrouse despite what people say about the prequels, revenge of the sith is honestly my favorite star wars movie. And honestly, it's probably the darkest
Everything wrong with solo.. it was made. The end.

"Darth Benjamin 1983" brilliant
5 mins into it and I read the description about a reupload. I thought I had seen this before lmao
The fact this has less sins than ROTS is a sin in itself
And the only reason it has less sins is because of bias. 400k on ROTS because of holograms.
