Fun fact: Destroyah's chest anus was going to shoot out a beam originally, but it was cut... though it was kept in the manga...
You know...when you word it like that i can see why it was cut...
I can't find it on youtube but there was a video way back around 2013 of destroyah using his chest beam since then I couldn't find it but basically godzilla falls over and destroyah repeatedly uses his chest beam them they get into a fist fight
and it injured him in the manga

The last shot of Junior becoming the new Godzilla is one of the most beautiful looking scenes I've ever seen featuring a guy wearing a rubber suit.
So true I felt the same wich was really nice after how I felt when godzilla died just before. I didn't think I could feel so bad during a godzilla movie.

Yeah that’s the case with every flying monster in Godzilla movies
The Destroyer/Destoroyah thing has a depressingly mundane reason; they couldn't trademark the name "Destroyer" so "Destoroyah", a slightly stylized version of the Japanese name "Desutoroia," was chosen to be TMed instead. The Gheedra/Geederah/Gheedorah difference is more due to different ways of pronouncing the word.

That's why he's called Destoroyah in the west. They realized to late that a common word like "Destroyer" can't be trademarked. So they went with a phonetic katakana transliteration instead. His name IS Destroyer, just spelled funny to get around copyright laws.

I’ve never clicked faster. This is a solid S-tier Godzilla film.

It's definitely one of my favorites.
It's a meh for me. I'll explain why, this film dosen't have too great writing, shallow callbacks to the original that could've gone somewhere and lazy cinematography. Things like neon genesis evangelion and the heisei gamera trilogy have much better writing and cinematography and special effects. Godzilla's death is a great moment but i just cannot engage with the characters and destroyah had so much wasted potential, he's just another monster if you take away the origin to the oxygen destroyer which is the only real connection.

For Godzilla fest for a few years, short developed under Gemstone have confirmed it is Junior Who’s fighting monsters like Gigan Rex and Just recently MEGALON for 2023.
So hey! Junior DOES get to shine his dads legacy after all
Easily my second favorite Godzilla movie behind vs Biollante. The ending still makes me sob like a baby everytime I watch it.

The godzilla film that had every child bawling their eyes out because of the death of Big G...and boy was it the film that gave me nightmares. I kid you not,destroyah scared the HELL out of me!

These movies are dubbed in Hong Kong where they speak the Queen's English. And in the Queen's English accent, words with an "a" ending are pronounced with an "er" sound. You'll hear this in England all the time as well.

To some extent, I'm willing to give some leeway when someone's accent causes them to mispronounce a word (such as a certain Minnesotan comic book reviewer saying "rum" instead of "room"), but when someone is acting in a professional capacity (well, more professional than Birdemic, at least), I expect them to be able to enunciate clearly, especially when they end up mispronouncing the name of the title character. You ever hear a British person say "Americar"? No, because even they know that's stupid and wrong.
And before you say anything, I'm from Texas and have a bit of an accent, so I realize the importance of not slurring my words and putting a random R at the end.
😆 I wish someone would make a compilation video of all the ways dubbing actors have pronounced Godzilla's name over the years.

I remember watching this movie on Syfy in 2014, which they aired all Godzilla movies to commemorate the release of Legendary Godzilla.
Definitely my favorite Godzilla character of all time. He's tough, malicious, and incredibly awesome looking.

What I like about the japanese movie versions of Godzilla is that we can all see the monsters' fight even if such event happened at night. Something that were lacking in the two last american versions...I hope they will show more time monsters fighting in a clearer and focused way on the forthcoming Godzilla vs Kong

My favorite Godzilla movie. I started learning English through the Heisei dubs and they all hold a special place in my heart but this has to be my favorite!

I personally say "Gidora (GEE-DER-RAH)" which is the Japanese name because its easier to spell and easier to say (because it rolls off the tongue) and it sounds cooler (tbh ghidorah just sounds weird to me).

This is one of my favorite Godzilla movies from the Heisei series for several reasons.
1. I like how they made Destoroyah scarier and how he looks like a monster from hell
2. Godzilla Jr. looking like his father a bit and was about to fight off Destoroyah
And 3. After the death of Godzilla, we see his son survived and became the next King of the Monster

Destoroyah is personally my favorite Godzilla villain and the film itself is in my top 3. It was a great 'final' Godzilla film for that Heisei era.
Since he isn't going back to do the rest of the showa series this means that the next movie is either going to be the failed iguana godzilla or Godzilla 2000

I'm glad to finally see the end of this era
I found Akira Ifukube’s score for this on vinyl at a record store today and I couldn’t be happier with the find. The artwork is great, the vinyl has a nice color to it, the quality of the music is superb and to top it all off, when you open it up, it triggers a speaker that plays Destoroyah’s roar. I nearly jumped ‘cause I wasn’t expecting it.
I call my weenie "destroyah". Ding-dong-destroyah!
Considering Brandon mentioned GUNHED in this video, it's imprtant to point out that the actor playing Super-X pilot there is Masahiro Takashima, who also played Brooklyn in GUNHED, and Takuya (the creator of Garuda) in Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II
When it comes to being a part of Toho cinematic universe, this guy is almost as big as Akira Takarada XD
The Heisei Series was what reintroduced me to my love of Godzilla.
Vs Mechagodzilla ll was the first Toho Godzilla movie I watched
@@kamalvelmurugan4875 Godzilla vs. Megalon was my first, but Godzilla vs. King Ghidora was my introduction to the Heisei Era, further when I watched Mechagodzilla II immediately after and saw that they were connected.
Of the Heisei series, 1985 was my first. I watched it with a VHS collection of other random Godzilla films, mainly from the Showa series like Gigan.

NOT killed the JSDF, but rather crippled by them. And after he fell, Destoroyah then faced Godzilla at his meltdown point and as he punched him to a pulp, JSDF then fired their freezer rays at them both; and with the combination of intense heat and cold, Destoroyah dies, followed by Godzilla.
However, Toho felt that Godzilla's
death should be the main highlight, so Destoroyah gets killed off early before Godzilla went meltdown.
