Contrary to belief, Patrick Tatopolous, the designer of Zilla, was actually overjoyed that his monster design was in a Toho film. He also didn't care for Emmerich's work either.

@@disneyboy3030 TV show was a genuine banger, Zilla Jr. is a monster worthy of carrying the title "Godzilla" unlike his Father who pains me on how easy he can be defeated by a couple of AAMs.
Fun Fact: Don Frye was originally meant to refer to Area G as "The G Spot". After reading that part of the script, Don had to explain to Ryuhei Kitamura what a g-spot was, and they had to change it.
That sucks. Imagine if no english speaking actor was on set, and we would have gotten a Godzilla movie with a place called the G spot.

Also he's not the only MMA legend in the movie. the other Japanese colonel, who sacrafices himself is Funaki, creator or Pancrase the first MMA organization and also a fighter in the great Pride Fighting Championships.
Going to "The G Spot" to wake up Godzilla conjures unpleasant thoughts of Kaiju prostate stimulation, or is Godzilla female in this? How do you finger something that big?

I’m firmly in the “love it” camp for Final Wars. It’s that perfect mix of over-the-top goofy and awesome, all the cameos are great, it’s got some amazing monster fighting, and is one of the rare times where the scenes with the humans aren’t boring.
Toho was being super petty putting Zilla in this just to have Godzilla kill him immediately, and even though I actually like Zilla (it’s a great kaiju design and I love the cartoon followup with Zilla Jr) that scene is memorable as hell.
Plus Don Frye looks like a live action Mike Haggar, so that’s a plus.
Now I wanna rewatch it for the first time in a few years...
I'm definitely in the "hate it" camp. Nothing about that movie feels like a Godzilla film, the monsters that make up the roster barely appear and are easily defeated, the music is terrible, the characters have no personality or growth, even most of the action is boring. I'd argue it's the worst film in the entire series. Yes, worse than Godzilla's Revenge. Worse than Godzilla vs Megalon. Worse than Godzilla 1998. Worse than the anime trilogy. There is nothing redeemable about Final Wars.
Me too. It's just all fan service monster battles. The only Godzilla movies I can't find something to love in are the ones with Minya. Or Godzilla Jr. Whatever you want to call the little turd nugget. I hate him so very much.

What can I say, I just love how over the top goofy it is. It celebrates pretty much every fun and goofy moment in the series.
The Xillain leader is one of my favorite villains ever. He chews scenery like 3 Brian Blessed's.

exactly, he's easilly the non-kaiju villain with the most personality. AT first he seems like he'll be a mere flunky, emrely thee dragon to bald dude, and then he unceremoniously shoots his boss in the ehad simply cause he'd rather just conquer through force than through trickery

I love this movie, I’m of the people who agree that most of the time the human drama is the worst part of any Godzilla movie and this one replaced it with a better live action Dragon Ball Z movie than the one we got
The boring human drama stuff was one reason Shin Godzilla gave me such mixed feelings. The other reason is I much prefer "good Godzilla what beats up da bad Kaiju" over "bad Godzilla what beats up da hoomins", but that's neither here nor there. Like, I thought Godzilla itself was well-done in that movie, and was actually made terrifying, with lots of disturbing aspects, such as the way he unhinged his jaw for his Atomic Breath, which came out first as fire before concentrating into a tight beam. That shit was nightmare fuel. So, all the Godzilla stuff was good, but the human parts in Shin, my GOD, just bored me to tears. I would have to say, though, I liked the movie, it was pretty good, even if the human parts did suck.
TheSefirosu200x bro they literally reference in the movie the fact that the humans have to have a meeting every time they want to do anything. And I think Shin was an incredible Godzilla too, such a cool concept and the CGI was really well done!
I'd say this more resembles a super sentai movie.

I mean this is really late but this is exactly why there is the "you train to grow stronger not to beat each other" line is in there.
There obviously can't with there training fighting techniques win against a Monster so the point is to just use it to steal there bodies and sharpen there reflexes.

@@rynobehnke8289 there's multiple words and stuff at times but if i recall some of the common ones are , akuma for a demon or devil , i think just aku was for evil and said right means someone that acts evil. And if I'm not mistaken kaibutsu is a term that means monster..
I'm not to sure what majiju would be but i think that i read somewhere that majin can mean things like a devil too but usually just implies a magic person... Sadly i couldn't come up with something i could confidently say majiju might be

Fun fact: Toho bought the rights to Zilla just so they could kill him off in this movie.
Well, Zilla pretty much deserved it.
Only way Toho could make that victory more glorious is if the emailed the clip to Roland Emerich, and sent him several copies of Final Wars just to troll him.
Tristar got flagged by Toho so they got Zilla
Wrong. Why would Toho buy the rights for a monster they already own?
What they did was withdraw the rights for Godzilla from Tristar (so that they can't produce more G movies) and put a monster into Final Wars that is called Zilla. But Zilla is technically not the "Godzilla" from 1998.
AND ITS FUCKING GLORIOUS.

Yeah, it was like a cool modern remake of 'Destroy All Monsters', filled with easter eggs to a bunch of other old Toho films.

@NIP I showed this movie to a lot of people in my lifetime ranging from 10 years old to over 65. And they all had fun with it.
The only complaint I have is that it should've been 2 movies.

Don Frye* was a really impressive martial artist, fighting in a time in MMA where the rules seemingly changed every fight, he showed remarkable adaptability.

He's from Seirra Vista, Arizona. The town was known as Fry Town due to one of the founding families named Fry. It had seedy beginnings and such. Maybe he changed it a bit to distance himself from the original Fry town name.

A Godzilla movie without Godzilla but with X-Men, Guns, Martial art, girls and Staline... It still better than the last Godzilla anyway.
My favorite thing is that if you watch the subtitles Don Frye's lines are the same. He didn't say his lines in Japanese, they didn't dub over him, they just had him speak English while everyone else spoke Japanese.

12:37 That place is called Monument Valley, it's on the Arizona and Utah border. A lot of John Wayne movies were filmed there like Stagecoach (1939), Fort Apache (1948), She Wore A Yellow Ribbon (1949), Rio Grande (1950), and The Searchers (1956). And it's also a killer Buckethead song/album.
Damn. Godzilla: Final Wars. The third Godzilla film I watched after Godzilla vs Mothra: The Battle for Earth. Before that was Terror of Mechagodzilla. It’s actually one of my favorites. I’ve seen movies that inspired things in the film like X-Men and The Matrix.
