Idk if you’ll see this but the part where he talks about killing his lover I don’t think it explains in the anime but there’s a manga and it says that he put her under a genjustu where her and itachi end up together and grow old together and he takes care of her til the day she dies I think she ends up dying because of all the things that go on in her head and when she’s about to die she smiles at itachi and says thank you

That part was in the light novel, not the manga.
His character was so well done. All the build up from all the episodes that you watched since the OG Naruto, every moment he lived, how he walked the earth every day with all that pain inside him, no friends, no comrades, no mother, no father, and a brother he can't talk to and no one knew about it, neither us (the viewer), he took all the blame in agonizing silence acting as the villain to take all the blame. Despite this, he was always so calm, collected and level-headed, he truly cared about protecting the village and Sasuke with all his heart. When you learn the truth, everytime it gets mentioned thereafter, you can still feel some of the pain he felt when he was alive within you. Itachi didn't deserve this, but he wouldn't have it any other way.

This is the biggest plot twist in anime history, everything was calculated, only we couldn't see through it. Back then, who would've thought the man who murdered the entire clan, was actually the hero who prevent something much worse.
when you go back and watch itachi vs kakashi, kurenai, and asuma its clear hes just trying to keep them alive. Kakashi would not have lived Tsukuyomi if he didnt want him to.
also when orochimaru emerges from sasuke when he says he'd take sasukes body you see anger flash on itachi's face before he seals him.
It's up there especially for Shonen but not the absolute biggest or close to it compared to other none shonen anime.
he's still cool despite the plot twist and such, my feelings for him doesn't change. He is a true shinobi of the hidden leaf now and forever.
There are other massive plot twists in anime history, but this one was still epic.

In the manga Itachi actually says something on the lines of "forgive me Sasuke, there won't be a next time"
in reference to all the times he flickes Sasukes head and said "I'm busy, maybe next time"

Itachi has to be 1 of the most well written characters in all of anime. Him being a double agent and after killing his clan he still wanted to protect the village and sasuke , the first time I watched this my mind was blown everything about itachi was so calculated everyone thought he was bad until this episode. He may be the most strongest uchiha he's definitely in the top 5 and he's still my favorite character in anime
In terms of raw power the other Uchiha is better but there’s no telling what Itachi could’ve been sunce he was held back by sickness and died before his prime

Itachi wanted to protect the village, but he preferred negotiations between the Uchiha and the village and not the annihilation of a clan. But ofc the elders kinda made it seem like there was no alternative and they manipulated itachi to believe annihilating the clan was the only option

@@kc_h7h it was both, imo. He'd lost Shisui and was vulnerable. He'd never been able to confide in anyone, and having lost one person, Itachi lost hope. He followed his philosophy but was caught up in a rut thanks to the Uchihas and the Elders. I won't say he was manipulated, though, but probably influenced. If Shisui was alive and they talked, MAYBE they could have come up with a better solution.
Itachi wasn't even old enough to drive a car when he did this too. That's what's even crazier about it.
He was 13 (if I'm not mistaken) when he killed all the Uchiha clan, he was a teen that's crazy😔
@@mariefrance2136 yeah, he was Naruto and Sasuke’s age in Part 1. It’s silly, but I think thinking of it as Part 1 Sasuke having to go through really puts it in perspective.
I always liked the Itachi since the days of Naruto .. i would find him or really cool and beautiful/ handsome .. and when he died i cried and after i learned the truth i cried like a beach.

If the Uchiha and the leaf had a civil war, other countries would have taken advantage and it would have caused a shinobi war. Killing a few babies is a small sacrifice for what could have potentially happened. And its not like he liked killing everyone. He had to live with that guilt until he died. Thats true sacrifice. Itachi is a hero

The translation of the last words is not correct. Itachi used to tell sasuke “ next time” when he was asking itachi to train him and his last words were “ sorry sasuke next time will not be”

@@dragonkamran It's more like, "this is the last," and based on context of conversation, it can be translated as 'this is the last time.' However, that said, even the incorrect translations are not wrong per se, or "double wrong," because it conveys the same idea across.

I don't know if you missed it, a lot of reactors tend to, but the last shot of Sasuke's face, you can see his Mangekyo Sharingan awakened.
Honestly it's not her fault. The lighting of the scene and the angle of it certainly makes it hard to see the Mangekyo
“I’ll always be there for you, even if it’s just as an obstacle for you to overcome.” Is one of my favorite lines in this whole show and sums up Itachi and Sasukes relationship perfectly.

Honestly, I don't blame Sasuke for wanting to destroy the Hidden Leaf after hearing this. A lot of people give Sasuke sh*t for his decisions, but I've always felt like they were understandable, and thus I've never hated or disliked Sasuke.

Itachi made the best possible decision, by killing his own clan not only he had protected the Village and the Uchiha name but also prevented another World War.He was a Hero but lived being known as a traitor and a criminal. He was a true Legend and one of the biggest Hereos in Naruto.
It's weird to think there would be a world war because of it...The Uchiha is one clan vs the entire leaf. I think Sarutobi and Danzo can take on most of them plus the combinations of all the other clans..hyuga, nara etc.

The Itachi twist was a massive mindf*ck to everyone when it first came out.
The emotional rollercoaster everyone went through was incredible, and I remember that by the time it all wrapped up, a lot of people were on Sasuke's side for Destroying the Leaf Village.
"I love you always, I'll love you forever." This sentence gets me into tears every time it comes up💔💔 ugh I miss Itachi

Itachi and Itachis story is overall probably the best in anime
Uchiha Itachi, He is a genius tactician with high battle intelligence, and great interpersonal skill, able to talk his way out of any scenario. A master of deduction. Uchiha Itachi should probably be the smartest and most intelligent character in the anime, he became a jounin, an anbu at very early age.
awakened sharingan at an ealry age, awakened mangekyo (by himself at an early age), A TRUE GENIUS.
Itachi held back against sasuke for that whole fight, the fact is he had no real intention of killing sasuke or taking his eyes, the battle was all an act put on by itachi. ... itachi simply released it so sasuke would believe he broke it and so the fight could move along. Itachi himself was ill with an incurable disease, prolonged his life with medication just for sasuke, He was still too strong for sasuke. He wanted to free him of Orochimaru and his curse before he perishes, just to keep sasuke safe, he used some of his powers at the end (Amaterasu and Susano).
After hearing all that you see why sasuke would hate the leaf village like really that’s crazy itachi is a amazing and well written character he did so much for Sasuke.
Itachi knew that and he had a plan (the thing that he did in the fight against naruto and bee with the crow it was to sasuke)

It's a forehead tap. It generally means that Itachi is still lying to Saskue and he won't stop with the forehead tap unless he tells the truth.
Now you know truth but for me when i first learned the truth it didn't bother me because everyone has a motive but i did question it but it didn't make me hate the leaf village but understand this,war and hate are 2 hot button issues in this series

Episodes like this remind me of what made the first series much more gritty and intense than in Shippuden. This episode is unique for a Shippuden episode. The tension is so so thick, you can cut it with a blade. Much as when Kakashi tied up Sasuke, even going as far as to use the same line of "You didn't seem like you'd sit still for a lecture" and that it's "up to him to decide if his words hit the mark". Sasuke and by extension the viewer effectively sit and listen to Tobi's baritone, booming voice, as he methodically tells the story about one of the most critical events in the series. It isn't a story that's forced upon us by the Edo Tensei or some cheap plot device, it isn't a retcon which functions only by plot. It's a classic campfire story which evolves naturally from recent plot events, with voice acting which is SUPER well done for both Tobi and Sasuke.

i read somewhere that in the itachi novels that danzo and hiruzen increased his age by 1 to make him being in anbu more acceptable, not sure if its true tho so take it with a grain of salt
I agree with Suzy, The Hidden Lead Village is disgusting. That's why I love Tsunade because she's the only Hokage who opposed with the elders and even almost killed those old hags. TSUNADE BEST HOKAGE PERIOD

In reality there isn't much they could have done tbh. Madara implanted the seed for the Uchiha wanting to have a coup. If the Uchiha fought the Leaf ot would have been Chaos. And not to mention other countries would have invaded and caused a great shinobi war. It was all part of Madaras scheme. The Leaf had no real choice.
