Paul Woelbing (owner of the organ...and my awesome family!) opening the video introducing the Carma Labs organ's history followed by Jelani Eddington playing for the ATOS.
Carma labs doesn't own the organ. The organ only resides in the Carma Labs building. Carma Labs will be moving out of the building by the end of this year, 2024, leaving the organ and the building. My family who owns Carma Labs will transfer the building ownership from the corporation to my family. The organ won't transfer ownership because the organ was never owned by Carma Labs. The organ has always been solely owned by Paul Woelbing.
Wonderful! Probably my favorite living Theatre Organist! The South Pacific medley was outstanding. Love Jelani Eddington! Stay to the very end for a surprise piece that will make you smile.
You just heard one of THE best theatre organists in the world .... on one of THE best organs, ever. IMHO, there are three of the best young organists: Jelani, Mark, and Simon. As to this video --- just "Wow"
I also have to mention upon re-watching this concert that the South Pacific medley which begins at 19:40 is without a doubt the greatest arrangement I’ve ever heard. And that’s saying a lot since I’ve heard a lot of organists cover this music both in concert and on recordings. Not since George Wright has so much thought and passion been put into a medley of tunes from this wonderful World War II themed epic. Jelani really swung for the fences and shelled out extra money for the expensive chords. I wasn’t at the concert to hear it live but the feedback I’ve heard from those who did said he got a standing ovation for this with several of his fellow international concert artist colleagues in attendance and standing giving him the highest praises he so richly deserved for this medley. Bravo Maestro Eddington! 😉❤️🎶
Thanks for this very decent recording of such a massive instrument, plus also giving us a chance to hear such a talented theater organist. Fantastic selection, registration, and playing. This organ is an absolute treasure, and I’m very grateful that Carma Labs is choosing to keep this uniquely American instrument expanding and playable. -Utmost respect to see a company preserving and saving American history that is mostly forgotten to those under 100 or so (lol). I hope Carma Labs continues to be successful, and has funding in place to ensure that this instrument continues to be maintained and played for a long time. Thanks!!!
The ending of Some Enchanted Evening 39:00 is epic. It must be incredible to be there in person, I can't imagine the high you must feel to be master all the instruments pulled in for that, this guy just dances on there so effortlessly. I'd love to hear more of the piano in Waterloo :) I was trying to find a video of a sample of all the invidual instruments that the organ has, and how it all works with the console, the engineering behind all of it is as impressive as the sounds.
How times have changed in the theatre organ world? Back in the 20/30s, you would have never seen any of the workings of the organ! All hidden away behind decorative panels. I think it added to the mystery of these organs for the patrons? This one looks like it's set up in the Wurlitzer factory for test or demonstration? Certainly being played by an organist who knows how to entertain!
To the owner's family - and I say this with the utmost admiration and respect - do you realise that his name can also spell 'wellbeing'. Consider it. I speak for myself, but I think also for others, when I say that we are so-much better-off with the wonderful sound that the organ can produce.
The organ will have a great theatre/concert hall at the end of this year, 2024. The Carmex Corporation will be moving out of the building in December and taking all the racks and boxes with it. What remains will be a 40,000 square foot Auditorium with a 3-second acoustic reverberation.
Man, his arrangement on Sophisticated Lady (13:50) was absolutely sublime! Jelani’s feelings and pathos swell in his ballad settings. And yes, Waterloo was the perfect “Pizza Parlor” ending for the audience heading to Organ Piper for lunch! (01:02:25) 😉❤️🎶
The building IS a great theatre. It just hasn't been converted yet. In about 2 years, the racks and boxes will be moving out to a new location, leaving a 2-3 second reverberation...and a wonderful music theatre. Rome wasn't built in a day.
Thank you Carmen Labs for assembling this wonderful instrument and sharing it's beautiful sound with us!

Oh WOW! Many many thanks - Hat's off to Carma Labs for doing this most excellent effort!
I love Jelani. He's 'the best'.
MAGNIFICENT! South Pacific medley! Just wow! One of my favorite musical performances!

I am beyond pleased to see this was recorded... could not be there. !!
Same here!
Fantastic music and great playing. Not heard Jelani live since I was a member of ATOS with Gus Frankin. Great Memories.
Jelani is THE BEST! Unforgettable!

Dennis Hedberg had tuned swiss handbells at the Organ Grinder in Portland Oregon when it was in operation. Not sure where they went to.
Looking forward to your return to Blackwood Arts this year.
Most never realized that these were the first synths of the early 20th century
I know it sounds great in the warehouse, but I just think it needs a home in a great theater or concert hall.
