    Just a few years ago anyone talking about buying body armor was looked at as playing army, and not taken as seriously as they should have been, now that things have really headed South in a lot of areas, even the naysayers are looking at it entirely differently. The older I get, the more it hits home that I would rather not be a sieve if I can prevent it, with the majority of my life behind me, I want to be able to enjoy what I have left, and if I never need body armor, I prefer to have it just for the peace of mind. Again, another good, eye opening video.

    I'll add one more advice. if you have not been training with body armor or with any kind of weight on your back that body armor is only good for home defense because once you have to start hiking with that weight on you and you going to end up dumping your gear or crapping out for good

  • @weduhpeople8504
    @weduhpeople8504 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    1st get out of the line of fire, take cover. My first carrier is the Veritas w RMA level IV ceramic 1155 10x12 single curve plates, Eestac 7.62 x 51 rifle mags for my Scar 17 mags, triple pistol mags holders. Bought another set of level IV ceramic swimmer cut plates and just ordered a Crye Precision JPC carrier. Why another? Quick answer is Biden. I do have 6x8 level IV ceramic side plates but leave them off for mobility unless I know I’m going into an all out shtf situation.Don’t forget an Afaik kit, tourniquets at minimum.

  • @steveleon2627
    @steveleon2627 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good point about buying steel plates first, however I chose the ceramic plates specifically because of the metal splatter and possible ricochet possibly injuring extremities. Very informative post.

    I've got a plate carrier close to the bed, and one in the car. Got the wifey a Freeman carrier last year just in case.
    For steel plates, I got a pouch from Tactical Scorpion that is a Kevlar front and trauma pad back, hopefully that'll mitigate spalling.spelling. it'd be better to not be shot though ;)

    Check out RTS tactical, I bought two sets of body armor from AR 500 during their Christmas season special last year, the lead time was ridiculous, I ended up canceling my second order after waiting more than two months. I received my second set from RTS in about 2 weeks and at a comparable price!

    Great info!
    Steel is a commodity that is mostly imported from East Asia and as the supply chain continues to break down these steel plates will only be harder to get.
    I can't afford but if can it's now or never if you want them.

    Discussion of body armor is incomplete without including UHMWPE plates. They are effective, very light, and sustain multiple hits. The only real downsides are cost and thickness of the plates.

    Good video. Thank for the info! I need to start looking at getting body armor. Just curious, have you run across plate carriers and plates for younger humans?

  • @TAVAAR7
    @TAVAAR7 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I absolutely think body armor is an important item to have. I think its important to know your purpose and potential threats before deciding what armor is right for you though. Most shooting incidents are from handguns which a 3a set of concealable armor would arguably serve you the best. If you're expecting trouble lvl4 ceramic or ceramic/poly is well worth the extra investment. Steel is good for shelf life like you said and fairly inexpensive for a 3/"3+" rating. Just keep in mind small and fast 55gr will still zip right through even "3+" even though it'll stop green tip.
    My recommendation is get some kind of body armor, work on cardio so you can use it, but also get a chest rig....sometimes the best armor is being able to haul @$$. Intel and mission drive the gear, know them and you'll have a decent idea of what you need to get and do.
