@@galofuf I know! About structuring or how to make block design in general, like what blocks to use and etc. Thats something i need, and think that maybe others need too. Most nlock design tutorials, or tutorials in general are really low effort and outdated! Love this!👌
For checking the contrast of objects, you can either squint or turn the device's brightness down. If the gameplay deco blends in with the background, it likely means they don't contrast enough!
Amazing tutorial! As a beginner I always just choose the oposite/complementary color on the color wheel. After a while u just get the hang of it. Shoutout to the channel id at 3:05, channel id never lies and I think everyone should do what it says :)
2:35 I'd like to add that if your not sure about there being enough contrast, it really helps to squint your eyes and/or observe the screen from a meter or two away to make sure you can make out the foreground from background elements
I'm still getting a hang with the editor, and while I'm slowly understanding how some of the triggers work, I still don't know the techniques behind the color trigger, so this video was a great help. Thank you! 😁
Thanks for taking my suggestion, this is gonna help so much! 0:13 This is also the first time my channel has actually been shown on a yt vid so that’s cool :)
Pls make more tutorials! This is what everyone in the gd communuty needs, cause decirating is really tricky for most players! Proffesional tutorials like these are just Fantastic!❤
Very well explained video! You should make a tutorial on how to structure our layouts. I think that is a very importnant aspect that i think most players like me struggle with.
3:27 This isnt entirely true. Shadows are literally the absence of light, and dont have colours. It appears to be the opposite colour as the light because of the contrast.
no yapping nonsense, just theory and examples. I am and always will be a fan of galofuf. I love your levels, especially the realism levels, ex. And Ever. I always have this soft part in my heart for realism levels with good gameplay, and you are one of the people who make just that. I am just learning about the editor, but I believe that one day, I would have the honor to work in a level, with some of my most favourite level creators, including you. We will meet some day for sure, and I'm not stopping until then! See ya! 😏
mostly on low saturated surfaces or straight up grey, the presence of light in one colour will create an illusion of the shadow being its complimentary, similarly you can colour the shadows to give the effect of a coloured light source that isnt even there
I never understood what +brightness is, best tutorial I've seen. Would like to see more. Also I don't understand why everyone leaves the color channels white and use a color trigger in collabs. Is that useful for something?
@@galofuf so if I get it correctly it is useful for merging? Selecting a bunch of triggers and pasting in the final collab so the colors are instantly there? If yes it should be a nightmare to build in that mess
Hi Galofof! I just wanted to say that I'm trying to find someone to collab with me in Geometry dash. Can i collab with you? You can just ignore me and I'll be fine (:
wondering what else i could make a tutorial on...

agreed
Do a tutorial on deco next. I've seen a some creators and you use static animated objects which looks soo cool. Honestly made my deco 10 times better.
Mountains and clouds could be cool.
@@galofuf I would suggest gameplay ideas.
this is my art class

Galofuf is truly the art student

so bright purple with muddy brown? Got it
you dont
I willl@@galofuf
Brilliant video! I’ve needed one of these for a long time
OMG, WE NEED MORE TOTORIALS LIKE THIS!!! THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IS NEEDED
2:35 I'd like to add that if your not sure about there being enough contrast, it really helps to squint your eyes and/or observe the screen from a meter or two away to make sure you can make out the foreground from background elements
yep, you can also screenshot the part, greyscale it and blur it to make sure the values are on point! i think thats what culuc does
Shadow colours is very useful for glow and art style creators.
Thanks for the tutorial, this is useful for people who don't know how to use this trigger :)

now I can color 🫡
These are things I've made already in my stuff, but the coloring shadows for example works really well
Thanks for taking my suggestion, this is gonna help so much! 0:13 This is also the first time my channel has actually been shown on a yt vid so that’s cool :)
Same :)
Oh hey it’s me in the intro :D also great tutorial please do more. Your editing reminds me of bli’s it’s really good

So basically don't do whatever that 2.0 phobos part did
yep
which one
3:27 This isnt entirely true. Shadows are literally the absence of light, and dont have colours. It appears to be the opposite colour as the light because of the contrast.
its pretty much an illusion but its nonetheless quite effective for what it is
Hey, I loved your platformer level so much. I was so into it, I forgot I was playing GD.
me watching this even though i've been an artist for a year and know a damn good amount of color theory:
trueeeee
this is probably the biggest roadblock imo so the fact that you made this video is super helpful
dude tysm for these high quality videos
hallo im the guy who suggested you remove the orb indicators 🙂 nice tutorial btw
2:18 Thats suspicious plag🤨
3:00 is that... Among us 😭😭
Thanks😄
as someone who has studied color theory alot, i can confirm that this is a very useful tutorial for many people :D
Tysm :D
I don’t wanna go to art class rn
this is more interesting than my art classes
Thanks for the tutorial! :)
2:59 that was unnecessary lmao

So cool ! Thx you for this masterclass tutorial !
Nice tutorial :)
2:02 this is very helpful, thank you my teacher :D
you saved the gd creators community
Woohoo i can finally make layouts but a little better :DDDDD ty galofuf (to be fair though, i might use this color theory thingy for actual drawing)
Thank you, Galo. :3
FINALLY OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH, I REALLY NEED THIS
now i am color
In what context is a shadow the objects complimentary color, I've never heard of this?
mostly on low saturated surfaces or straight up grey, the presence of light in one colour will create an illusion of the shadow being its complimentary, similarly you can colour the shadows to give the effect of a coloured light source that isnt even there
Cool tutorial! you're from singapore too?
yep
Thank you Galofuf!
Thank you so much i have a sugestion can you make a tutorial of how to make block design pls??????? If you like idk
The good thing is that I have a mobile application for the color palette, it is called COLOR GEAR LITE
Part 2 Gimme Gimme 😊😂
Thanks for this tutorial! Now all that's missing is the effects one
Very good tutorial
Thamks for the knowledge :D now i can make and easter ever as a sequel for rhe christmas one
I never understood what +brightness is, best tutorial I've seen. Would like to see more. Also I don't understand why everyone leaves the color channels white and use a color trigger in collabs. Is that useful for something?
it allows the colours to be copied across levels, since you could not copy over colour channels, tho i think theres a button in 2.2 which can do so
@@galofuf so if I get it correctly it is useful for merging? Selecting a bunch of triggers and pasting in the final collab so the colors are instantly there? If yes it should be a nightmare to build in that mess
its really not that bad when building, just a tiny bit more tedious but it saves a lot of the work for the merger
@@galofuf now I get it thanks
now make a full level called “theory of colours”, sequel to theory of everything 2
TRUE
FIRE
YES
This is supossec to be basic theory and I'm still lost- but I'll def try to get better at coloring >:3

Too complicated for me

Ah, yes.
The "basic" color theory.
it's one of the easiest levels it can get to, real colour theory is far worse
