- small and simple tutorial on this gimmick because a lot of people were asking for it . im not great at explaining things but i hope this helps anyone who wanted to know

im not super great at explaining things so if something was confusing please ask and ill clarify
small correction: the spawn loop setup i used isnt actually every single tick, oops, but as u can see it still works fine. if you know about collision loops theyre probably a more effective and consistent way to do this but if you dont know about those this'll be fine in almost all cases

Oh! I remember my friend showing me how to do this in a VC a few months back. They created a rough 20 second layout with it, but not much else. I always thought it would be an amazing gimmick for a level, and I'm glad to see that someone else figured it out to create a really cool and chaotic layout with it!

Setting the delay for spawn trigger to 0.010s makes you teleport every 2 ticks (or even 3 ticks, because 1tick = 4.16ms on 240tps but ok whatever), and spawn loops can easily break if the game lags for any reason
Spawn trigger delay is also affected by timewarp triggers, so if you use timewarp trigger with a low value like 0.25 or 0.10, it can break that illusion of smooth movement for one of the icons
The solution is a collision trigger loop
It works the same way but it's faster, fully lagproof and timewarp-friendly

This lowkey reminds me of the 2.1 dual separation bug, just a lot more complex and with more control over the result
i can already hear all of the top 100 players complaining about this effect
new best bugs out so much like when you die the percentage keeps going up even when ur dead (the level also keeps scrolling) and also when you finish the level the player keeps teleporting forwards or backwards so if ur player is faster then it teleports through the end wall too fast and if its slower then it doesn’t even go near the end wall and the icon is outside the end wall when it finishes so you just see your cube on the level end screen as if it was partly emulating the 2.1 dual bug but without the rotation

You can also create custom speeds upon using without dual mode
what is the mod your using that has all the ui sounds
iirc it's just called editor sounds and it's in geode
the sfx in the editor are so satasfying
a bit more
with this method you can even make a exponentially accelerating/decelerating the player, simply by using spawn loop on follow player X, since the player accelerates, the teleport trigger will also accelerates the player into the point it speeds up to like infinity ig idk (it crashes my pc so i put a stop trigger at the end of the level, and it also broke my editor permanently, might reinstall the game tho) it was once featured in DDoGD once but i forgor which video showcases it so yea
then you can also apply the method on P2 by using teleport portals locked into P2's position (not the trigger), although if your P1 collides with P2 it will kinda broke the speed of P1, so it's best to use the P2 one for a same speed dual gp or a dual gp where the P1 won't touch P2

Edit: Wouldn't it be easier to just lock the object to player y and move it forwards and backwards with move triggers?
following player Y would do literally nothing cause the player is being teleported along the X axis. if you wanted to you could manually do the whole thing with just move triggers but it'd be a lot less convenient in like 99% of cases

is there anyway to do this for p2 i tried using portals to do this on player 2 because there isnt a p1 p2 pp option in the teleport trigger but the thing i made doesnt work well
there's no option for some reason . im assuming rob just forgot to add it so hopefully it gets added in a later update

i was curious how this was made when i saw the layout and figured it out myself lol, just instead i moved the object that the player teleports to manually with move triggers, it's easier to control imo this way

This is so weird to look at in gameplay but also so fun looking. This is definitely a mechanic you're going to have to teach the player before using, or just indicators i guess

uhh it works for me only if i put a start pos like 5 blocks behind the contraption, if i start from the beginning it just breaks completely

u cant with teleport triggers but if you really want to you can technically do it using teleport portals but i really don't recommend it

as long as you exit the dual with the icon that isn't speeding up and slowing down the sync should be unaffected

yeah but it breaks the trail
Please note that if you do this, you won’t have a wave trail. The reason why is because, teleporting causes your trail to disappear, and how the “faster speed” works is by the teleporting..
also uhh, the trail for the ship, swingcopter and when you activate an orb wont be visible because uhh.. same reason

would it be possible to set up the mechanism to follow p2 and not p1 so you don’t have to do the static camera shenanigans and also you don’t have to worry about disabling the triggers after the dual?

u could technically do it by putting like actual tp portals on p2 but then if p1 even touched p2 itd then also hit the portal and its speed would change so not really
teleport triggers don't have a P2 setting for some reason
a more controllable way to do this would probably be to repeatedly teleport the player to a moving object moved by a move or follow trigger instead

cool idea : put teleport portals in front/behind both, move them at a consistent speed, so if they get moved off the screen, they reappear on the other side, allowing for some weird gimmicks

It works, but it feels choppy, it doesnt feel like its going faster the player can tell hes being teleported slighty forward, how do i fix that?

no cause in 2.2 everyone is locked to 240 physics updates per second
