- After a long day travelling the country we got the chance to go out in Ash’s Supercharged K20 Lotus Elise and the whine of that supercharger in the car is just something else.
Never have we seen a K Swapped Lotus Elise, even with there standard K Series engine at 120bhp they were quick enough because of the power to weight but now running over 300bhp this is a totally different car.

They are utterly fabulous to drive…300bhp is more than enough to make it scary fast as they weigh as much as an empty Mars Bar wrapper.

I have the same car with 330 at the wheels. Did it with the 2ZZ engine.
Intercool it and there is so much you can do with that K20 that you could get 600 hp easily.
BOE in the states who built mine has a 520 hp version that they say hits you like a bat.

They can do that because allot of HP not a bunch of torque.
If you saw how small the flywheel is on those engines it amazes me they do not slip.
I think the K20 lends itself better to supercharging, you get that instant low end response with the Vtec up top.
What we noticed in this, absolutely epic!!
People don't tend to turbo the Elises as you can't fit it all the extra stuff in the engine bay. Keeping it cool is an issue as well.
That noise from the k20 and the supercharger is a match made in heaven and since it has no traction control you would be able to sling it round every corner pretty nicely 😂 would love to see this thing in a tracl battle great vid as always !

Coming from a guy with a decatted audi 4.2 that loves the sound of his car, I think your car sounds as good as anything on the road!!
Had the pleasure of looking after a friends 300bhp Exige (Supercharged Toyoto 2ZZ) in 2019, can confirm it was a savage car. The grip even on a set of very old and worn A048s it was silly, absolutely rapid. We took it to Cadwell and Donnington and shared the driving, and even though at 6'1" I didn't quite fit, and the tyres were a bit useless, it was an absolute blast to drive.

Bloody awesome thing! ive got a 420hp 2 litre turbo 2zz one, its bloody bonkers, loads of torque and power all the way to 8500. Its a smaller GTX2863R so has very little lag. My friends got a 500hp one and its even more insane. So much fun to drive these cars

I just purchased the same car, but with the standard 1.8 Toyota engine. That’s mental power with that car. Dry use only.
Great car, well done. I have an Elise and had to replace the radiator fans and rad. Front clam removal (first time I did this job) only took a couple of hours to remove and a couple of refit. Relatively easy.
Now that's different, and revs it's nuts off, what a sound.! Nice build..... defo supercharge. Alex.

Really great!! I have an Evora GT (in the US) that I did a third cat delete and cold air intake on. Has a very similar sound, which I love.
Bought a Toyota powered one in 2013 as a side kick car for wind in hair stuff, love it and became a keeper, hit a mountain road and its more fun than hookers and coke.

I've wanted to get an older Exige and either put a high compression K24 or a SC K20 in it for a while now. A sequential gearbox would also be awesome but that moves the budget to be a lot bigger.
Bloody hell lads it was a bit cozy in there 😂 Awesome car, for me the downside is supercharging is parasitic but flip side it does make for a more N/A feel which I definitely think compliments a more nimble,light track oriented car.
Think it’s enough at 300 for sure
6 psi is not much so it should still be reliable

I have an X1/9 with a K20 from a JDM Integra Type R. 200whp, it's pretty fun.

A friend has an Elise with an Eaton supercharged K20, he has owned it for about 12 years. It is as mad as a box of frogs on the track but docile and economical on the road. A Race Technology dash and a motorbike battery save a bit of weight, an amazing little car. A lot of Lotus purists pontificate about the weight of the S/C K20 and the slightly higher centre of gravity. They should be made to ride in a converted one, the acceleration is like a drug. Might be cheaper to modify a VX220....

Back in 2009 I bought a new Exige 240PP LSD and a few other bits , although
it "only" has 240 bhp its mental enough for me with that Toyota 2ZZ engine
supercharged and revving to 8,500 . I can only imagine how quick a K20 is
My factory figures were 0-60mph 3.9 0-100mph 9.9 . One advantage is the
Exige has the AP Racing 4 pot calipers and larger dia discs

Im in Warrington, Surprisingly I have never seen this car but it is really cool, if you want to come back up here I have an 80s Carbon Reliant Scimitar with 400bhp per ton I suspect it would be upside this in terms of acceleration if not faster. home built in a shed by two idiots, more than happy to let you have a go.

That Gen elise/exige is the most fun car I've ever driven. Oversized gokart. I wish to own one myself one day. Probly shouldn't through. I'll get in all kinds of trouble.

When the first Elise came out, I loved it, when was that, about 1996? I still like the original and the power was probably just about right. This, to me, looks a bit of a dog's dinner, a bit too much.
I know too much is usually just enough (like the Z car), but this looks like a dated (modern) car tarted up. That said, I'd bloody love one! Boomtime!

Any idea what the rear diffuser is? I know its not standard but curious which one it is! Also go steady with those RC injectors - they were shocking on my exige!

I'd definitely go with a supercharger with this application, instant power, and even throughout the rev range, a turbo could come on boost mid corner causing oversteer, which can be hard to tame in such a snappy, short, chassis as these 😳😉
