Lived with a Porker 911 and Cayman and now had a 220 elise for 4 years. Im 6ft 1. Way cheaper to run than Porker and way more fun. Im mid 50s. Felt like an old fart in Porkers, feel like a kid in Lotus, plus it is way faster on a B road. The steering is a dream. Loved the video.
Great video, nice to see someone as keen on these as I am. had a 997 gt3 for 3 years and recently changed it for a supercharged Elise, and never looked back. These are great handling cars, great fun at sane speeds, its up to you how well you drive it because there's nothing electronic doing the stuff for you. What more do you want? Cant recommend them enough - low running costs, brilliant handling and damping, weirdly good ground clearance (clears speed bumps easily without slowing down as long as you dont buy a Cup) and you can take the roof off on sunny days/night drives. The perspective from the very low seat really adds to the driving sensation. Recommend any keen petrolhead to try one - and not smile! you've got another subscriber. Glad you're enjoying yours. Keep doing the videos. 👍👍
I’m philosophically opposed to buying new cars, but when I heard the Elise was going out of production, I went looking for one right away. Here in Japan, low-mileage used examples shot up above the price for a new one, so new it was. I absolutely love it and don’t see much chance of anything coming along that could replace it, so I expect to drive it until I can’t operate a car anymore. Every drive is an event and a constant grin.
Proper car. My view is that to get lightweight super car performance like that, you have suffer very minor issues like a high sill access etc. BHP is vanity, BHP per tonne is sanity. If people want convenience & comfort, buy a Volvo. The hood in its bag, can go behind the seats. Only a Caterham beats the Elise for pure driving fun. Boxsters are great, great cars, but they’re tourers rather than sports cars per se. Enjoy.
The sport mode is present on a 2014 Elise S Club Racer I viewed at the dealer yesterday, so I think it came out in 2014 with the Club racer trim! Thanks for the video!
It is a very good car for ‘b’ cars and for going to the pub. Problem is that because the car is so small you have to be very careful where you park it.
leaning towards 2014 lotus evora s - 345hp. the clam change for a clutch job is so annoying. you would think with the brains at Lotus. some part of the tub could be opened up to drop engine from bottom. is there a case to me made for the paddle shift, even though abit sac-religious to not have a manuel trans

Elise. S1. S2... no matter - amazing cars, and great for staying flexible when roof is on!
Noise cancelling headphones are the game. Drove my VX220 all the way to Germany with them welded on.
"I've always wanted one" is the perfect reason.

fantastic review, I'm about to get a 250cup in the next few months
She's a beaut!
Very good video. I’m a S-Cup owner and as I’m currently having my dampers serviced I’m stuck watching others drive theirs…
great version.... third series but with the dual headlight at the back ( before restyling) .... and yellow
you a lucky boy 😃

Great video.
My Elise S from 2014 which is identical apart from the black trim, has the sport mode, just saying
Great car and opinion. Ideally would suit most people as a second car.
good video. is there a 240hp elise with t-top
