Thank you Sir,!i’ve done this with my Astro, and my buddy needs his pump replaced on his Tahoe, your video just saved me tons of time finding the right measurements, thank you very much for a great detailed video.

Thank you for the detailed specific video on the exact measurements you made my life that much easier now I just need a video on how to remove it from the tank thank you brother!!!!
Thank you so much for this vital information. My 99 Tahoe LT pump is going bad. Every shop I asked says can of worms due to possible rotting underneath. This just saved me endless hours and big on my wallet. THANK YOU THANK YOU. Liked and subscribed 1/5/21
Thanks for the post have a 1999 Tahoe LT and it was a perfect match .I did not measure anything i used the raised part for a guide .The only thing i did different was cut a " C " leaving part closest to the middle uncut so i just lift it like a flap .I will say this those fuel lines and wire harness are super close so don't push it take your time cutting i almost went to deep ..CHEERS !!
Thank you very much sir for posting this video, I tried it today and you have saved me a ton of cash....if I hadn't done it myself, I would have never known the crap job the previous mechanic had done....much appreciate it.
No problem. Im here to help when i can. If you like my video please hit the like button and possibly subscribe. I have other repair videos and some videos just having fun (adult content).
This is very smart. Really enjoyed your vision here. I wish GM or Ford's engineers had a fraction of your head and wisdom, when making these cars, in first place. Thumbs upped and subscribed.
Hey I did this too about a year ago when mine died, but I used a couple of pieces of 1/8" X 1" flat iron. I cut it long enough to reach 2" in on both sides past the panel hole. Drilled it and used machine screws to fasten it to the truck. Then drilled inboard and tapped it to fasten the panel to it. So its solid in case someone steps on it it wont crumble in onto the sending unit on the tank. Then used Gorilla tape to seal it. I also connected a anti-theft toggle switch in series with the power wire to the pump. I then wired the switch under the drivers seat. When I park, I flip the switch off so it wont start when parked. Just thought I'd through this out there for folks if they are in the same situation, an easy additional step or two.
GreasemonkeyTV my 97 Tahoe has been sitting for a while. Now it won’t start. I feel like it may be a fuel pump issue. I’m gonna have to drop the tank but only because I want to clean it thoroughly on the inside. While the tank is out I’m definitely making myself an access door. Thank you sir for sharing this method. Allot of ppl talking shit about the way you did the job. But it did the job so, eh! 🤷🏻♂️ 😎
I've dropped my tank 3 times in the last 2 months due to crappy aftermarket fuel pumps, and not the super cheap ones either. Those damn plastic fuel fitting sure like to snap off. Anyway, this last time I filled the tank to the brim and the fuel pump crapped out. This method is going to save my back, thanks so much for the vid and the measurements.
Ha! I just made a comment on another vid, if it's possible to measure out the location of the pump and cut out an access door. Next vid I click and there it is! Awesome job and thanks for uploading!
Common trick on older camaros/firebirds/etc, but usually we weld in an access cover flange that bolts in, that way you don't have to worry about screws pointing toward the tank
@@TIMEISMONEY-BOSSMAN I imagine you haven't got into a wreck with it either. The danger comes when the screws perforate the tank in an accident leading to a fuel spill/fuel vapor issue.

a strip of piano hinge and step the door over a little and it would look almost like a factory access panel. Good video, and a necessary evil in a world of crap aftermarket parts.
OK. I finally made my mine that what you show, is the right way for me to go. As I incidentally filled the gas tank to top, about 30 gallons, just prior to pump failure. Now with that heavy tank and no helping hands, its going to be very difficult , if not dangerous for me to empty the tank or drop it full on a jack... Now my VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION, if you kindly can answer: Is these measurements the same for GMC Denali Yukon XL, 2003? I know that XL is is only longer on cargo section so probably pump should be the same location. But what I am not sure is if your car 1999 Sub is the same as GM's 2003 Yukon? Can you please answer me rapid as I have to do something during this weekend. Thanks a million.
My vehicle is the 99 tahoe. It is the older body style like 88-98 chevy pickup. Tahoe kept that body style one more year after gm updated the pickups. Your vehicle should be the newer body style. I do not beleive this video will help you.sorry
Ive got an 05 Yukon and just had a ton of work done to tune of $1500. Front/rear brakes, rotors on front (now not sure if replaced or ??) hydro boost, water pump, spark plugs, etc. However, $1500 once again and the damn check engine light is on again?? I asked him five times about the CO2 sensor and throttle body but because light wasn’t on, he couldn’t find it. Now he’s saying if it doesn’t quit missing, riding rough, next is fuel pump. I thought it was pretty cheap to replace those sensors and why not just do it while it was there? Any suggestions??
Best suggestion i can give you is dont just throw parts at it and hope it fixes it. find a new mechanic that has a good diagnostic machine. Sounds like he has a cheap scan tool. With the right computor you can pull codes with or without the check engine light on. There are several things that can cause those newer chevys to run rough. Do a fuel pressure test to verify the fuel pump is good or bad before replacing it.
Also the o2 sensors are a common issue but i dont see them making it run rough. My 06 has a o2 sensor completly shot and it runs great. If you do replace them use ac delco parts. The cheap ones online are trash. You get what you pay for when it comes to electronic parts.
Did you use a cut off wheel? Looks like there's a chance I could cut some fuel lines or electrical if I go too deep.....what distance are they from the floor?
The only thing you should not do is use a cut off wheel to cut out the metal you are creating sparks near fuel if you would have had a fuel leak you would have set your truck on fire....
@skaterdude109x if you don't know what tools you can use to cut sheet metal you shouldn't be working on cars hahahaha and 2 you are supposed to drop the gas tank to replace a fuel pump
This is the dumbest thing you could possibly do. This takes longer than actually taking the tank out. People do it because they may have to do it again. Let me tell you 1 thing, boo-boo, if you dont buy aftermarket bullcrap than the chances of you having to take out a couple of bolts, a few hoses, and a connection or 2 again are unlikely. Do the job the right way the 1st time, and the chances of you having to do it again are pretty slim. And you won't have to cut a Flintstones hole in the floorboard.
Not hacking. Its custom.lol i didnt use an axe to cut it open. You do it your way and ill do it my way. This was not a customers vehicle so no harm no foul.

Wahoo this is awesome

How did you cut it out. That part would of been nice to know because I'm not using a grinder in my Denali
If you look in the video there is a pnumatic die grinder clearly sitting in frame. Thats what i used. Precise cut and minimal sparks.
What did you use to mark the metal surface?
Sharpie marker works.

Will this be in the same spot on a 2000-2006 Yukon Denali? Specifically 2004
No. Only up to 99
Did you use a cut off wheel? Looks like there's a chance I could cut some fuel lines or electrical if I go too deep.....what distance are they from the floor?
I used a cut off wheel on a small pnumatic die grinder. I just went deep enough to cut the metal. Take your time and you wont cut any fuel lines.
What about my 2 door 98 Tahoe same measurements.
I doubt the 2 doors are the same.
Will the measurements you used work on a 99 suburban?
No
on that note, have you found any reliable pump brand other than the oem acdelco?
Ive only use oem parts.
The only thing you should not do is use a cut off wheel to cut out the metal you are creating sparks near fuel if you would have had a fuel leak you would have set your truck on fire....

You think this would work on a 03 yukon??
I imagine the fuel tank placment is different on your aplication being that they are different body styles.
What did you use to cut through the metal?
I used a pneumatic die grinder with a cut off wheel. An electric grinder with a cut off wheel would work good also.
You don't need to worry about getting sparks on the tank? I'm scared I'm gonna blow up lol. Thanks for the video!
I ended up using my jigsaw with a metal blade. Worked great!!! This is for my 2000 escalade. Same location
