This was my friend Randy... we were friends in Denver when he played with the Wumblies and lived with my agent/friend Janet Pattison. We went through a lot together. He was the best rock drummer in the world in my opinion, but more than that he was a sweet Imp who made me laugh and cry. I can believe he is gone because he lived life to the fullest. Thanks for the memories
I knew him as well, I was a bouncer at Mr. LUCKYS. AME talent agency booked the Wumblies at Luckys and I was dating one of AMEs office girls when she told me that Randy had joined Ozzy.
Saw him with Motley Crue in 2000, if there was anybody that could take Tommy Lee's spot, it was him. R.I.P. Randy, through Ozzy, Motley Crue, etc., your music will always live on

I toured with The Wumblies some in the ‘70’s and got to see Randy play every night as he was perfecting putting on his own drumming show and stick tricks which were impressive along with giant drum kits and Randy quickly rose to the top. It wasn’t long before he was playing arena’s opening for The Cars, then Lita Ford before being Ozzy’s long-time drummer and capable of replacing Tommy Lee in Motley Crue. I’m sure his show & stick tricks helped him get/keep his job with Ozzy. Everybody talking shit about Randy being a flashy, showboat drummer ..... please tell us what band you play for that is bigger than Ozzy or the Crue, they must have liked his style. Technically notice how his Tom-toms are level a sign of his many years of marching band/drum corp practice & playing.

I always ran into Randy at the coolest places. Van Halen's Christmas party 1984. Grammys, Mark Andes ( Heart)Wedding. I was doing music with Rick Wilson from the Wumblees in LA during the 80s.
I seen him do this solo live here in Cincinnati Ohio and it was amazing.. the video doesn't do it justice man.. you had to experience him playing live to really appreciate how great of a drummer he truly was.. Randy was one of the best hands down.. and that drum kit was sick as shit!! RIP Randy

I saw Randy playing with Lita Ford, early 80’s, at Reseda Country Club. It was my first concert. I was floored by Randy’s playing. It set a standard for the rest of my life, a pretty high one very few even came close to. Then I got to meet him in 1989-90, at the Red Onion where he a judge in a drum-off. I actually got to talk to Randy for about 15 min. He was one of the sweetest, most down-to-earth, charming, likable guys I’ve ever met. I was truly sad when he passed. I still am. The world and music lost one of the greatest.

It set a standard for the rest of my life, a pretty high one very few even came close to. Then I got to meet him in 1989-90, at the Red Onion where he a judge in a drum-off. I actually got to talk to Randy for about 15 min. He was one of the sweetest, most down-to-earth, charming, likable guys I’ve ever met. I was truly sad when he passed. I still am. The world and music lost one of the greatest.
