    True. Pete Rose should be in the HALL! Nice narrative on the rookie cards.

    I have quite a few of those, some in multiples, but they are in the “we used to trade them as kids” condition.

    Great top 10, thanks. Obviously things change over time, considering this was made in 2016, it's understandable things change a bit over time. Market varies over time.

    Rose definitely should be in the HOF! Surprised no Mantle cards in there but considering this was based on rookies.

    I absolutely love Topps cards but the ONE thing i dislike about them is the shared rookie cards, i know theres no way of telling whos going to become a superstar and you cant give every prospect a card but it would be nice to see solo rookie cards

    Dude when I was growing up playing baseball Pete rose and johnny were the main guys in 74 I went and seen the reds play Santiago. In cindy it was awesome I think Roberto. Was playing then I'm sorry it was 72 when I went. But Pete should b in the hall. We should get another portion up for him he well deserves it and he needs to see his name in there Bfor anything bad happens. Thanks for sharing. All of his other buddies are he should b too

      I agree Pete rose was my hero too and he deserves the hall of fame but he gambled and should never be put in , Joe Jackson didn't evan help in blacksoxs scandal he just knew about it , and he was best player back then evan Cobb says Joe was better player and he was kicked out of baseball forever , I feel steroids is just as bad if not worse and shouldn't be counted in the records either that's cheating too

    Great list, nice stuff. Just one very minor quibble, I think the '64 Pete Rose card (Rose's 2nd yr card) is generally worth quite a bit and probably deserves a spot on this list.

    • @888strummer
      @888strummer 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it does have more value than every card in this video except for the Rose and even with the Rose rookie; they get about the same. A PSA 6 of the Mantle white letter and the Rose rookie get in the $1,000 range depending on centering but very comparable. And all the other Mantles are worth more than the others on this list except for the Seaver and the Ryan

    This is a good video except for Mays, Aaron and Clemente who have cards worth as much as most here and the exclusion of Mantle. The 1969 Mantle white letter is worth as much as the Rose rookie and the other Mantles are all worth more than all the cards here except the Rose, Seaver and Ryan

    Don't ever mention base running without mentioning Maury Wills, as good as anyone who ever played the game. Pete Rose is one of the five greatest players that I personally watched growing up as a baseball fan.

    • @robertd.7060
      @robertd.7060 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Only problem is, Topps did not have a Rookie card of Maury Wills & the 1962 M.V.P card you see doesn't exist .

      No. the 1st true card with him on it was in the 1960 Topps world Series card # 389. With Luis Aparicio , stealing 2"nk base on it ! He also was a great base stealing guy in that time period , also .

      Well, again , you NEED to READ, what i typed? I said, his { 1st true card ] And to { me} the 1963 Fleer would not be a { true rookie card } either, being it's not in his Rookie year ?

  • @edschneidmuller9496
    @edschneidmuller9496 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    the rookie cards with multiple players have never appealed to me. I'd rather have 2nd year cards with the star by himself. In my humble opinion the Topps 1965 series were the most attractively designed cards of all so I have been putting together a raw collection of HOF's and other top stars of that year. 1967 Topps are a close second in design appeal to me. Pete Rose was a real jerk (hated him as a kid because he beat up Buddy Harrelson) but regardless of the gambling he should be in the HOF.

    Since this was a video about 1960 cards, why would you mention Bowman cards when they ended in 1955 and didn't come back until 1989? Correct me if I'm wrong.

    • @BergenPickerscom
      @BergenPickerscom  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was meant as a comment of valuable Bowman cards in history, not just the 1960s.

    Always must be Mickey Mantle cards are very worthwhile more than any other players are cards in 1960s. Buy why always its Mickey Mantle?

    • @BergenPickerscom
      @BergenPickerscom  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can call it the Power of the New York press. He was simply the most popular player during that time period. More so than Ted Williams, Duke Snider, Mays, and Hank Aaron. Although the other players were all great! It was Mantle who consistently stayed in New York and hyped by the journalists.

    • @MrBagui-ll6jx
      @MrBagui-ll6jx 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BergenPickerscom that's true , yes. That what i wonder about that. So it's 15 more original baseball's 1950s and 1960s years of the Mickey Mantle cards are going be forever as very worthwhile more than more increasingly price for this anytime.

    My uncle had that 1963 Pete rose rookie card, back in 1987 we went to a card shop in Sacramento Ca. and my uncle needed money so he wanted to sell it and the owner of the shop only offered him $30 for it..... the card was in mint condition. is that what it would have been worth back then?'

    • @BergenPickerscom
      @BergenPickerscom  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would really depend on actual condition. Considering inflation that $30 is approx. $66 today. I’ve seen some Pete Rose Rookie Cards sell for as low as $30 on eBay today and as high as $1000 ungraded. Really all depends on actual condition, centering etc. I wouldn’t lose sleep over it.

      It you try to sell your cards straight forward. You wont get much... the best way to get the most for your cards is to auction it!
