    I know this was produced 4 years ago, so i doubt anyone will read this comment. But it was very informative! I have collected comics since 1969, and there are similarities on how comics and cards are graded. Like most comic collectors from my time, I also purchased cards, but never really thought about the grades. Thanks so much for sharing this!

    I loved the grading video. Even after all these years of collecting I find it hard to downgrade a card for things that aren't the fault of the owner. Like, centering and gum stains. If gum stain is really bad I understand, but I find it to be proof of it being real. tic,,lol

    I got a Education , and what a interesting job . To me . Having just purchased the 68 Topps football , No kicks with my 62 Topps , and other buys in the future for my son , hope he passes it on to his young-ins , and to think in the 60's we'd buy the pack , throw the cards away , if it wasn't a Starr or Unitas or a player we had heard of for the gum!

    Great information. Wasn't sure what to do with these cards from the fifties. Seems somebody decided to write their name on every one of them. To the trash bin they go. Thanks for the tips.

    How are the cards that are misprinted or have mistakes from the factory graded? I thought some of them would be worth more because of a factory defect like that.

    I wonder about card sizing. Is there any tolerance on cards that are slightly smaller than 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 for a standard sized card? In general, what is acceptable for grading? Does Dean's measure the card before establishing a grade? It's incredible on how many cards that I have bought from larger dealers that measured on the smaller size.

    I am looking for Roberto Clemente rookie card with near mint or better he is my hero since I'm from Nicaragua and he lost his life helping Nicaraguan after the earthquake in 1972 I have a collection of few thousands of baseball card but I only collect cards from the 70's up to date, and I prefer inserts since they are unique you get them when they comes out or you will be out of luck.

    What does it mean when you say centering is "60/40" or "80/20" and how can you tell? Is it more or less opinion or is there a concrete way of telling?

    • @akeemevans6277
      @akeemevans6277 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      60/40 is the ratio of the size of the borders on the card. Measure the borders on the left and right. If the ratio is 60/40 to 50/50 then your in good shape. If there is no border then you measure the space between the end of the print and the edge of the card.

    Are cards from the late 80's and early 90's worth anything? I've heard they aren't but other people say they are. I have quite a few but don't know what to do with them.

    I've really been struggling with the decision of whether or not to have some of my cards graded. These are mostly newer cards with only a few older ones. Is it really worth having a card graded that's only #'d to /3, or /5, or /10? How about super short prints?
    Here's a few examples of cards that I'm on the fence with. So which, if any, of the following would you recommend for professional grading: Kris Bryant Archives Rookie SP, Carlton Fisk Archives '83 All Star Auto #3/5, and John Elway Gridiron Kings Patch/Auto #1/7? They all look flawless to my untrained eye. Why should I risk a card receiving a less-than-perfect score when there are only a handful of them in existence to begin with? I fully understand why it's probably a good move to have older cards graded - especially when there are thousands available to choose from. But when there's only 5 or if a card is a highly sought after super hard pull, I could really use some advice. Thanks for your time.

      You should go on eBay and find out what similar cars are selling for. It may not be worth it to grade it. Just store it carefully and wait until you are ready to sell.

    I'm disappointed that you don't use gloves when handling cards. I take great care to handle cards in plastic holders only so that I don't leave any residue on the surface of the card.

      Vintage cards are worth a lot of they are proven real and unaltered regardless of grade which is the real function of grading. PSA = Professional Sports Authentication.

    I have a 1985 topps mark McGuire #401 rookie card I payed $25.00 for it pas wants $18.00 + $18.00 sh/hd so that would make me have $70.00 in it and if was a grad of 8 it is $30.00, a 10 would be $700.00

    Unreal, She says a 60/40 is a 10, no it’s not. If it’s a 10 then it would be 50/50. What a joke.

      Sounds like someone needs to read the PSA standards. Cards that are not perfect 50/50’s get 10’s all the time.
