    WARNING GUYS
    Do remember to keep the cover of your cpu socket that you popped off from the motherboard, if in any case your motherboard is not working, you will need that popped off socket cover MANDATORILY for a replacement of your motherboard

    Yo this was super helpful! I liked how you told us how much pressure to use and where to put pressure. I was so scared I was putting too much pressure before this video.

    Short, sweet and to the point. Returning to Intel this week from a lengthy stint with AMD, this LGA stuff had me a bit nervous!. Thanks for the guide.

      Agreed. I was scareed after using amd pins for so long to use a tad of force to close the lid.

    Thanks so much! It's been several generations since I built a rig and it seemed like a lot of pressure to put on that arm. Your video made me feel a lot better about that. Good to know that's how it's meant to be. ✅

    Thanks for this. Just installed mine yesterday for the first time and I was freaking out that I messed it up because it seemed like it was just too much pressure even though everything was lined up. But it was about the same as what you had to do so I’m less concerned now.

    Good video ! I liked that you showed from the installer POV, explained about the arrow and tab method of aligning and showed us the bottom of the CPU chip itself. I would also recommend to others that you inspect the pins on the MOBO very carefully before seating the CPU chip. I hate that they removed the pins from the chip itself and put them on the board.

  • @ScumAndVillains
    @ScumAndVillains 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Please always guys remove the plastic cover of the socket (just push it with your fingers gently) before pressing down the plate. Do not do like in the video. 1. Open the socket by pulling the lever. 2. remove the plastic cover (and keept it, do not throw it away!), 3. put the processor in the socket by matching the arrow with the one in the socket (there is an arrow in one of the corners that specifically tells you in what position you should plug the CPU) , 4. close the metal cover and put the lever back in its place with the holder. After this, you may go ahead and install any back-plates for the cooler if needed or just install your preferred cooling system.

    I've been looking all over for this explanation and thank you for doing a nice job on it. I was on eBay and saw several motherboards for sale for parts because the pins were bent. So I figured I better make sure I'm doing this right so I don't ruin my new motherboard.

    when install cpu better take off the plastic cover by hand because you are pushing so much the cpu that might happen to bend a pin on motherboard.. it happened to me sometime.. and i just place the cpu and close it like you and after that a pin was bended and needed to send for replacement bcs system not working properly and i found out

  • @madzaisa
    @madzaisa ปีที่แล้ว

    Okay. I built/changed about 3 or 4 PC with a socket that worked like this one. And helped with another 5-6 PCs. No problems ever. It's impossible to mess it, right? Until my last PC i'm building now. Somehow while doing exactly the same thing as always i ended up with CPU with bended substrate in two "top" corners, so bye-bye my new i7. How it happens, i dunno as it seem impossible to install a CPU incorrectly. My only guess that it was misplaced for like less than 1mm, but i still dunno how, if all those small holes that should prevent it.

  • @deltatango5765

    Sorry, my motherboard is a ASUS TUF Gaming Z690-Plus and this makes no sense to me. There is no alignment arrow on the motherboard anywhere that I can see and using the notches on the cpu or aligning with the pins does not work since the CPU will fit the socket right side up or upside down just as easily. The motherboard manual SUCKS, as it doesn't even mention which way the CPU goes in.
    EDIT: Left this message to maybe help someone else with the same motherboard. The manual only uses pictures, and you have to look VERY CLOSE to see the arrow on the CPU in the picture. It shows it towards the rectangular bracket, and nor the retention bar.

    Not having upgrade a PC for a few yers I notice gigabyte have gone away from having a notch on the cpu socket to line up your cpu to having an arrow printed on the motherboard in this case it's bottom left I almost made a mistake and put the cpu updide down so use to having a notch on the upper right corner

  • @Fogolol
    @Fogolol 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    is that plastic cover really needed to mount the cpu?

    • @blakejeffrey
      @blakejeffrey  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't need it to mount CPU, in fact You can take the CPU cover off if you want before mounting the CPU, but I feel its easier just to have the load plate push it out when puting the load plate back down with CPU in the socket since it'll pop right off.
