Oh well heck.. the manual with the CPU and Fan doesn't make it clear the pins need to be to the right to engage. Now in hindsight ,the diagram I am looking a shows turn right THEN use a screwdriver turning right to finish the install... strange... Intel .. why?
What a horrible design xD But I returned the Alpine 17 after seeing that the CPU came with one! Hopefully I'll just ram down on the screws and it'll click in without shearing the graphene thermal sheet under the cooler's copper heat plate.
I think I watched this video every time I had to test a 1700 socket CPU or motherboard. Goes to show how unintuitive and not straight forward this cooler is. I swear it is easier to install a waterblock than using this plastic gunk.

Can't install this cooler on tall ram itx Asus motherboard H610i, the plastic housing gets in the way, poor design.
what a stupid design this new cooler is!
what's wrong with the old cooler that has ACTUAL indicator (a dot) which way is open?
Yeah good point
does it work with contact frame????
yes it should do
yeah .. my cooler didint do that it just ddint click
Looks like a decent little performer as long as you arent using a CPU with a high TDP or doing a lot of overclocking. Easy to install too and not as ugly as the previous stock coolers from Intel. I just feel that they could do a bit better with their stock cooler......but then agai Im AMD all the way so I dont care lol. Thanks Mike and Kath.
this one is a little more difficult to install than the 10th gen ones and seems to require a LOT of pressure, i can see these cause overheating issues when not installed correctly
Oh well heck.. the manual with the CPU and Fan doesn't make it clear the pins need to be to the right to engage. Now in hindsight ,the diagram I am looking a shows turn right THEN use a screwdriver turning right to finish the install... strange... Intel .. why?
Dude the amount of of pressure I think ima split my motherboard in half
yeah it is pretty scary
Thank you mate! Un saludo para vos! from argentina
It's pretty simple , teşekkür ederim :)
1:35 😂 yeah 👍 that's why I came here. Thank you!
glad the video helped
the downside of new intel stock cooler is requiring to use screwdriver to remove it unlike the older stock cooler you can turn the pins by your hand
There is nothing that stops you from turning the plastic things by hand. It doesn't even need a lot of force.
I hate these push pins with burning passion
i agree 100%
THANK YOU!
You're welcome!
many thanks !
You are welcome!
This design is TERRIBLE. Who on earth thought this was a good idea?
Great video, by the way.
What a horrible design xD But I returned the Alpine 17 after seeing that the CPU came with one!
Hopefully I'll just ram down on the screws and it'll click in without shearing the graphene thermal sheet under the cooler's copper heat plate.
Yeah it acts like a high tension mount , i DO NOT like how much pressure is needed to install this cooler.. wont use one again.
yeah it is a bit terrifying
I just forgot to disconnect the fan connector
How to disconnect fan connector??!!
Should just unplug from the motherboard
Thank you so much
You're most welcome
I have never had any luck removing a stock cooler and reusing the plastic gets brittle with the heat. They are so cheap i always just order a new one.
yes probably the best thing to do
You are the doppleganger of Fernando Jubero, a football manager.
i see the resemblance similar age as well, arguably he earns a bit more than me :-)
Very very bad to put in the Cooler. Waiting for my cooler from CoolerMaster. I couldn't install the cooler...
Sorry to hear that
and I thought my 12700 came with a free paperweight
All these years and they still give us this clunky ass mechanism
I think I watched this video every time I had to test a 1700 socket CPU or motherboard. Goes to show how unintuitive and not straight forward this cooler is. I swear it is easier to install a waterblock than using this plastic gunk.
i think you are right, this design sucks
thanks
You're welcome!
Holy this product is eo stubborn! Its impossible to install it back on after its been built into the pc!
yeah the clips are odd and need to be primed and twisted back into the locking position
Just picked up a B550I mobo and a 12100 and I cannot for the life of me get this piece of crap cooler on lol it's seesawing all over the CPU, even took the LGA mechanism off and it just won't go down even. Not sure if it's hitting something on the mobo...I give up for now! Might rip the plastic clips off and use screws like you're supposed to!
i hope you mean B560i or you have much bigger problems ahead
@@mikesunboxing lol i meant B660I, these chipset names are aids...why does one have to copy the other?
Installing this was pure torture. My thumb start bleeding from the nail.
wow sorry to hear that
Absolute garbage. Needed a quick cooler because thesse idiotic stores ell old shit here and i cant get this installed. Just does’t work.
zee* not zed
depending on where you live
as bob said sober ,,jk ? is that past that good tho
These push pins are an atrocity that never needed to be implemented.
i agree completely
Removing my cooler just now, 2 of them snapped
@@ryanwaterbury Sorry to hear that 😞
Lmaoo can't believe they still have the same pushpin that I installed my Pentium 4 when I was in my 8th grade (2008)
Yeah sticking with a “winning” design 😂
Step 1: receive excellent Intel CPU FTW; Step 2: Open box and remove Intel CPU; Step 3: Remove and throw out stock Intel cooler; Step 4: buy aftermarket AIO or Air Cooler (Arctic makes excellent ones of each); Step 4: Watch Mike's Unboxing Reveiws And How To to see how to install much better aftermarket cooler.
lol agreed!
Pushpin is the worst
i agree
tyvm replaceing min tommorow big help
thanks appreciate it
Worst mounting system I've ever seen.
yeah it is pretty crap
E
garbage. $15 will get you a Thermaltake cooler that screws into a back plate. throw that pos intel cooler in the trash.
pushing the video to 10 minutes, disliked
if you class pushing a video giving detailed advice then yes, but the 10 minute thing does not exist anymore, but thanks for the dislike it is all video interaction which goes towards more views and watchtime.
Merry Christmas you miserable sad person
Thank You Mike Very Helpful
Glad it was helpful!
