Do NOT Use the Word NORMAL

  • Why won’t I use the word normal?
The word normal is a very subjective term/concept. Something that is normal to me, may not be normal to you. To describe neurotypical behaviors as normal, implies that neurodivergent behaviors are abnormal. It is true that they might not be the average or the majority, but the mirror existence of them means that they are of this earth and therefore normal.
Please don’t argue with me about this, argue with your mama.

exactly! i honestly don't know how we got to this point where it's *us* and *them.* we're literally all different, so therefore normal!

I am different to most. It's Marmite. Love me or hate me, I'm going to be myself. That makes a lot of people uncomfortable. So sad for them 😊

I keep to myself mostly but speak when it seems appropriate but when people try to be friends they try to impose their way of doing this, to "fix" me or something, to make me stop being "weird" but when I retreat from it they say I'm arrogant and lazy. Honestly I don't like people anymore

Holy cow, thank you for sharing your experience. I'm really sorry its been like that! That's one reason I make these videos, because like, people don't know how to let people just chill. My slogan is "Meet people where they are at, not where you expect them to be."
Because I exist, I know others like us do too. So I hope you don't give up on people! But I also understand if you do.

@@support_the_spectrum I just observe new people to see if they will be OK for me to interact with. Your slogan is good but human nature is unchangeable you know. I've managed to teach some of these people but only some are open minded, others just see me as weird which is fine, but those who do change their behavior towards me start praising me too much that it feels weird to me. They say that they've never met someone as intelligent or knowledgeable or capable, but I don't know how to take compliments
