Adult Gestalt Language Processors Whisper???
Why do gestalt language processors whisper their gestalts and/or echolalia?
Based on my clinical experience, I see one of two reasons. I believe that it could be a sensory preservation behavior. In order to gain more from the language they increase the intensity of how it is presented. I also believe it could be because they are trying to protect their gestalts that may have not been validated in the past.
Do you whisper echolalia or gestalts? Do you know why? Please share in the comments!

You are trying to use a technicality to get around the fact that I need a moment more than a NT, the fact is I can be very slow in certain situations, expect me to need a long break if you ask me a question that I have no pre-programmed answer for. What we need is for the unkind people to understand the answer might be worth the wait, not a nonsense technical argument over how a normal person use the word slow, because you are always going to lose that one.

That's a fair point! This video was simply to highlight how much nuance there is to autistic processing and the science behind it. I’m sorry if this is off topic or may come off as ableist, but I truly wish there was a cure for autism. People say they may never be a cure but that doesn’t mean research shouldn’t stop because of it. I have so many bad memories that play in my head from my childhood from my autism, I know there’s someone out there that wants to have autism for some reason, which I find silly due to the fact that it’s a disability and your at a disadvantage compared to neurotypicals. All I want in life is having loyal friends and people that would stick by me. I’m tall, good looking (when I take care of myself) but none of that can be put to use because of my autism. Not trying to victimize myself but there’s no other way to put it, I want everyone that judges me and criticize me for being “ableist” to deal with a burnout or a shutdown episode for a month and see how it feels

I think the subtle cue point is valid, and a thought that has also occurred to me. That said, I think it is vital to disambiguate "evidence" and "proof", where "evidence" is a fact or alleged fact that tends to lend support to a proposition, whereas "proof" is an unambiguous fact or set of facts that leave no option other than the truth of the proposition. No scientist should accept "evidence" as "proof", but should not, and cannot, exclude evidence based only on their own gut sense of what constitutes "evidence" unless there is PROOF that the type of evidence is invalid. So, anecdotal evidence is SUSPECT due to the uneven history of its ultimate utility in proofs, but should not be per se excluded because ALL proofs come from anecdotes that rise to the level of proof after harder interrogation. @@support_the_spectrum Without abusing the privilege further, I would also point out that it is rare, indeed, to find someone in science who has elected to dedicate their life's work to a subject matter in which they have no personal interest or stake. Why would I spend 40 years studying particle physics if I get all twitterpated over accounting? Zoology? Auto repair? The question in science is not, "Is there a bias AT ALL," but rather, "Is there a bias that is revealed in attempts to replicate?" I assume you do not involve yourself in "The Spectrum" with complete neutrality towards the subject - yet few would discount your findings for that reason. Looked at with the requisite distance, such a critique is just dressing up one's OWN bias, reasserted through a channel in addition to rejecting evidence out of hand, as cautious gate-keeping, when in fact, it is similar to racial profiling by police. This would be inconsequential if the scientific method and peer review process proceeded in the ordinary course - but here, it may prevent funding and attempts to replicate AT ALL, and so it is actually the bias of the unfounded doubters that is a greater sin against the commandments of our [lack of] faith. (This is NOT the same as spending time and money to disprove specifically that for which there is already a ready and appropriate proof). Always ALWAYS remember when people speak with certainty of what is possible, those are PRECISELY the people who would have said in, say... 1850, "Man will never fly, much less take photographs of the temperature variants within a human body, yielding an image of diagnostic value!" And from personal experience? If nonspeaking autistics could communicate telepathically I'd have found out while working with the first little girl I was one on one with in a school- we were SO connected and SO in sync (and both autistic) that if this was a thing I think I would have discovered it then.

“Positive” dehumanisation is still dehumanising. Caretakers are already prone to overlaying a version of their own creation over their children’s personalities. If you add to that the temptation of not having to grieve over a disabled child (by making them, super-abled) and the blanker slate of a non-verbal autistic child, I fear any potential for scientific rigor goes out the window. I will also say this; as a verbal autistic child I got very good very quickly at reading what adults wanted from me. There’s an awareness of being lacking, a desire to please, and a capacity for attention to detail that makes you able to put things together -even if they don’t make sense to you- that could be misconstrued as being “psychic” in some way.

I don't know your son, but I'm willing to bet money he is based on what you shared lol! If you ever would like to meet to get resources for his support team, learn more about gestalt language processing, and develop a plan specifically for the type of learner he is, the link to message and schedule is in my bio!

As for me, I confirm that I'm slow. Sometimes I try to compensate it by hurrying up, which makes things even worse :(

I teach English to Chinese primary school students It takes about 800~ hours of comprehensible input in English (class + language they understand because of the class). They limit me to 1 hour per week of class time, groups of 3. In theory it would take ……. Manyyyyyyyyy years to learn the language. Thankfully, I have a supremely efficient method for quickly establishing the foundations of English AND of language acquisition skills, PLUS there is an enormous amount of English media they can consume on their own. Is there such a library for the kind of input these students need? So that the instructor can turn them into self efficacious independent learners and then lead them to have progress at home through their caretakers? Can the caretakers be trained (that’s the ideal situation)? It’s a fascinating topic! I’m about to launch my own teaching project on TH-cam so I’ll keep an eye on how you do it too!!! ❤

This is so interesting! Thank you for commenting! My specialty is primarily language acquisition for neurodivergent, and limited speaking people using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) methods such as speech generating devices. Studies show us that language is learned faster through play. When it comes to later stage grammar, we use the DTTC model. I hope this helps you!

Is there any possible chance you could make a video about this same subject, but how to adapt for this in a home setting? My family struggles with this very topic so much it’s an every-single-day problem that can quite literally ruin the entire day, and subsequently destroys my son emotionally for quite some time. Until seeing this video, I couldn’t even put into words what was happening, or describe it to somebody who could! I was would cut off my legs for some guidance on how to deal with an 8 year old boy (who seems to live on the cliff of rage) who refuses to clean up after himself in any way, or do any regular life tasks without 100% support, or losing his mind altogether and has a melt down of epic proportions. I am by no means blaming him! I know this is my problem to address with everybody, but I don’t know how! HELP PLEASE!!! Thank you so much for everything you’ve put out for us all to learn from!! You’re making positive changes in the world that it needs so badly!!
