THE BEST TUNER! PV is ok if you have dyno available too but Thundermax is KING!
Riding down to race of the gentlemen in wildwood New Jersey . On the parkway I broke down and a state trooper pulled over and ordered a tow right away can you sit on the parkway broken down . So they flat bedded me to nearest dealership in Atlantic City . The owner hooked me up . My ECM took a shit . He pulled one off the showroom floor and flashed it so I can get to the race of the gentleman weekend .
Have one on my 110. I'm happy with the bump in performance but the biggest improvement is the engine temp. Even when it's hot out it still runs noticeably cooler than it did with the factory ECU. Cylinder doesn't deactivate anymore.
While I was at Daytona Bike Week last week I had the guys at D&D install their X-Cat 2 into 2 header on my bike that has cams and a dyno tune. Bike ran great at higher rpm but down low was rough running. Went back and Rusty said the Thundermax was the way fix it. Had them install it and right away it ran better. The more I ride it the better it gets. No more popping or back firing(small amount on shift and decel before Thundermax). Very happy so far. I really like that I can plug in and look at everything that is happening with my engine. Just found your channel and subscribed. Great video bud!
Right on buddy. Appreciate the support. Glad you had a good time at Daytona. Would have to agree. It’s crazy how fast these ECM’s can fix issues in the system without manually adjusting it on a dyno. It made a world of difference when I did a bunch of stuff to my bike. I ran a base make on the power vision and auto mapped and it ran like crap. I would have gears 2-5 fall flat on acceleration. Then I put the TMax in and it fixed those dead spots almost immediately.
I just cant justify tmax right now! I had it on my 17 ultra w rs468, but seemed to be rich and i had a pinging until i slowed timing by 2 degrees! Great video, thx!
Good video bud, one step before applying the auto map is looking at your “fuel adjustment offsets” . You get a summary of the health of the map and you can look at the percentages the map is running at. You can see that in your sample rides the TMax collected so much info and how close to perfection the tune is running at. Even after I had a dyno there was still some refinement of the map and you can see how close to perfection it’s getting before applying the auto tune. Nicely done.
That’s great information to have that they don’t tell you. Thank you 🤘🏻
This is a great video, man. I think you just convinced me to order the Tmax module today.
That’s a great compliment. Thank you. I appreciate you watching the video and I’m glad you found value in it. 🤘🏻
Appreciate the stepping thru and on screen process. I found same less than clear instruction about shutting off the ignition before initiating the engine start. Helpful to see a similar senecio. I chose a preload from FuelMoto primarily due to a antique laptoo
I’m glad the step by step process was able to help you through it. I try to be as thorough as possible with these videos. I know how I would learn from the videos. So I try to do the same with clear instructions. 🤘🏻 thanks for watching
Thanks.. Just ordered mine today.. This is definitely going to help with my install..
Awesome. I’m glad to hear you found some value in the video and good information
Hey boss. I’m so glad you did this video thank you. I am looking to get one of these thunder max ecm. I just bought the 132 S&S power pack. Need a new tuner for sure. Currently running the FP3. Can’t wait to get home to put that 132 in.
Yeah I trashed my other tuners. There’s no comparison with this Thundermax. Any changes made to your bike, the TMax adjusts to those changes fairly quickly and efficiently. I’m happy these videos are helping people. Thanks for watching 🤘🏻
@@Gimps_Garage I finally got it boss. The thunder max ecm. I can’t wait to return home to put all the goodie’s I have acquired since being away. Thanks for the inspiration on my build. I will try to keep you posted.
@joearmy5021 hell yeah brother. That’s badass. If you have any questions. Don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m glad the videos have inspired you and given you some sense of home while you’re overseas 🙌🏻💪🏻
I currently run the FP3 but recently did a complete camchest swap Vance & Hines tech support sent me a custom tune that works fine but I know there’s more to be had tuning wise. I’m pretty sure the AFR in that tune is off but it’s not adjustable. Consider the power vision but then saw this video definitely going with the Thunder max great video
That’s great Joe. I’m happy the video helped you out and assisted in making the switch. I also went from the PV3 to the thundermax. Not a single regret.
Thanks for the info. I just received my TM!
Awesome. I hope this video helps you
Nice vid, thanks
You’re welcome 🤘🏻
Phenomenal Video! You had a great shot of the front bung install.
I'm running Power Vision on my Fat Boy. I believe I need another tune after two years and no engine modifications. Where as, I could never out grow a tuner that can handle a turbo.
I just got one for my Glide.
What exactly was the setting ThunderMax adjusted for you? Up/down, more/less. Preferably, what was the numeric value.
Are you able to compare (overlay) the before and after TM made the adjustment in,
"File"
"Read Module Maps and Settings"

Hey SKWID. appreciate the kind words. Thank you 🙏 I’m happy this helped you out. As far as what TMAX adjusted, I’m not exactly sure other than they adjust my AFR at 3200 rpm. It was running too lean in that spot of the map for some reason. You can see before and after graphs when you dig into the software. Great thing about Thundermax is the graphs don’t matter much. Because it is constantly evolving and getting better every time you ride.
I don’t know, maybe the 4th time I watched this. Sooooo essentially, the folks at TM gave you a virtual Dyno Run?
@@SQUID_Road_Glide they took the report from the ECM. saw what wasn’t lined up and the adjustments the motor needed and they applied it to the map. I then uploaded their fixed map to the ECM and it fixed the issue. So I guess you can say they did that. In a loose sense of the word
I run a Woods 22XE on Killmonger. Dude, The T-Max is like fine wine 🍷, definitely better with time.
I use to pull in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. I would have to run 4th high to stay in the power band with Dyno Jet.
Now I'm pulling 1st-5th. Now I have to hang on. I don't expect so much pull on my Fat Boy as compared to my Glide. And that's with the stock 107. The ⚙️ing is different.
I already had the aluminum injector holder and the Derby, but I went to the starboard side.
Copious amounts of NICECNC for my S&S 129 build. 😂 2FD Brother.

Thundermax is definitely better than dynojet in my eyes. Just wish they had a screen or something for live monitoring
Id have to agree. The Thundermax has been doing really well in comparison. The live readout would be awesome. I mentioned that as well in the video.
Just put one on my 2018 Road glide special
So my question , I have a harley tuner and their auto tune tuner. Are these basically the same as a Thundermax? It has the wide band O2 sensors . Very informative video, subscribed...
No. Far from the same thing. Anything screamin eagle aka Harley tuners will only allow EPA compliance tunes. Which means it’s restricting the output and capabilities of your bike at least 30%. Sometimes more. The Harley tuners are junk. Throw it in the trash and get a proper tuner. Whether it’s a Thundermax or dynojet powervision and have your bike dyno’d. Especially if you have aftermarket exhaust, cam and intake / manifold. It’s a night and day difference in performance. It should be criminal for Harley to sell those tuners and actually call them performance tuners 😂
How many rides/miles did you put in before doing your auto map adjustment? Just did a big bore kit with cams. Just got 400 break in miles. Thinking of writing the map
Hey man I’m curious what exhaust brand you run and if you use baffles? I browsed through your videos but couldn’t find anything. Thanks
I’m running the fuel moto package. It’s the SS jackpot 2-1-2 high output headpipe with the jackpot RTX mufflers. Highly recommend for big bore builds. Even their non high output option of the jackpot 2-1-2 is a great choice for 103’s-114’s
Tmax is badass I just got this like a week ago and there techs are badass
My only complaint is the lack of live monitoring abilities and my MPG went way down. Went from getting 280 miles on a tank to 190. I’m going to have it put on the Dyno and have it tuned and get the timing dialed in. Hopefully that’ll fix any minor issues
Have u gotten it dyno yet I’m curious why ur mileage dropped
@@tomasramos5959 setting up a dyno video. Should be dropping soon. But after dyno. Only regained around 30 miles to a tank. So 220ish
@@Gimps_Garage I’ll be looking for the video I figured u would gotten more of mileage back
@@tomasramos5959 I was hoping I would get more back than just 30. But still better than 190. I can’t really complain. With more power, comes sacrifices elsewhere. Pushing 140HP and almost 150TQ.
I’m thinking about dropping my header to do my O2 sensors. I have a new set of exhaust gaskets, trying to decide if I remove the factory 12mm or just leave them on the header? My aftermarket header has 2 separate locations for the 12mm and 18mm sensors. Not sure why I couldn’t just leave them in? Meanwhile I’ve had my new thundermax for two or three weeks and still scared to install it😂 not the mechanical part….. I hate computers! I bought a new computer just to do this. My last computer was a 1999 windows millennium…..😮 windows 11 is very different.
I would plug them off. You don’t wanna leave the 12mm sensors in. It’ll disrupt the airflow. You can buy 12mm bung caps from pretty much any dealer or independent shop. Where I live, I can get them same day or next day delivery on Amazon as well. And they’re cheap.
@@Gimps_GarageI have the 12mm bung caps. My header came with everything. D&D 2-1-2 fit like a factory part and came with everything needed. Thanks
@@vf12497439 you’ll love the Thundermax system. It’s the best imo. But yes. I would highly suggest plugging off those 12mm bungs. But don’t be afraid to install it. If I can do it, anyone can do it. You’ll do fine installing it
Waiti g for mi e to come in tomorrow. I want the best ready possible, and the wide band o2 sensors give me the best readings and less wires than other tuners.
My best advice is find the closest base map that resembles your current build. Then run the Autotune mappings like I was showing in the video 🤘🏻 GL sir. Also. I would get a O2 sensor ratched head with the side notched out. So it’s easier to tighten your sensors down.
thanks for showing this... too much work for me, I'm just going to have mine dyno run
It’s really not bad. The video is just very thorough and seems like more than it is. It pays for itself if you plan on making multiple adjustments. Dyno gets very expensive. If I add something to my bike with this tuner, it will re tune itself
Are you putting the dielectric grease on the plug to seal it or on the tynes of the contacts to prevent corrosion?
Yes. Both the plug and the tynes get a small amount
In my research I'm with you about a monitor so I can see in real time.
I'm waiting on the UPS driver. He's bringing me true duels chrome an if the get blued I can't tell you how pissed my wife will be.
@@stephenreynolds1651@thundermaxefi definitely needs to add a real time monitor. It’s a must. If they did that, they’d take a huge portion of the dynojet users
If I do my own stage 1, can I just add the Thundermax and let it roll? Does the "self-tune" work well enough?
@@GK-bh1tp yes. It works very well. You’d have no issue doing that. I did it with stage 4 build
Additionally. My backfires were eliminated and at 100 miles in I have a much less crisp TBW response compared to my FPK 3 I trust that can improve with added sessions or settings??
Yes. Also, if you send thundermax a message. They are really good at walking you through on sending them a current file of your tune. They will see anything that needs adjustment. They will fix it. Then they send it back to you. You open the TMax program and it’s ready to upload the updated fixed tune.
is it easier to have head pipe off the bike?
If you remove your entire exhaust system to do it, including the headpipe, you gotta make sure you have replacement crush seals for the head ports when you put your exhaust back in. Honestly it looked more difficult than it was. Mainly because my wrists are fused and it’s hard to reach into certain areas. For someone without my condition, it’s not bad to get those sensors placed with the exhaust on.
Where did you get your floorboards, brake pedal etc? Do you have any install video for them?
Yessir. There’s a video on the boards. It has a red thumbnail with thrashin’s logo and death metal racing logo
I love how people with baggers and all these other bikes finally started using dirtbike style pegs it kills me
Because companies finally started making them for baggers. I will say, these death metal racing boards are comfortable and help with the fact my feet are 13’s. Stock boards are short in comparison.
I love em if they weren’t so
Expensive I’d be ordering some asap
They’re definitely not cheap. But they’re great quality.
I have 2019 Road Glide with the 114. It’s a savage rebuild. I have this code V INERR do you know what could cause this?
It is a low voltage code. Sometimes on hard starts the voltage from the speedo is too low for the ecm (on newer bikes, the CAN BUS) to recognize the speedo which causes that error.
👍 thank you
Happy to help. I would hookup your computer on your TMax and see your readouts and if you’re getting hard starts and any big pinging when you fire it up. Does it throw the code on initial startups after the bike has been sitting a few hours or more?
👍👍👍👍👍
TTS my favorite Cuz you can have it dino tuned to your specs and get that much horsepower. You can with cams and head work. Big bore pistons timing chain plate. That’s what I’ve had the best luck with but it looks like you got a hell of a bike, there was a pushing.
She’s running at 140TQ and 135HP last I dyno’d with the +1 heads and everything else. But that was before the Thundermax tune. So we’ll see if the TMax added any sort of power gains
Pretty much our numbers are just two or three off hell of a job brother specially, for a Thunder max👍🏽💯
👍🏻🇨🇦
Nice Laptop you got there, does the job right? 🤣😂
Yes it did. Thanks for letting me borrow it brother
I can definitely tell you’re a computer tech person
lol why you say that?
Sounds more like a pain
@@michaelhudson303 meh. The juice is worth the squeeze. Good things don’t come easy. But the process really isn’t all that bad. Especially if you don’t have a great dyno guy readily nearby
Some ulgy foot boards and and don't change the passenger boards to match nice.
lol. Do you feel better? Why do you care what another man does with his bike? Maybe you should learn basic grammar before coming on someone’s post to talk shit. 😂
