      @ tanarvis tennant - I agree, I like the new look. One thing Chrysler could do to make things even better is to bring back the Plum Crazy and classic yellow body colors. I never really paid much attention to colors like Plum Crazy...when I finally did I found myself liking the Plum Crazy..hey I'm a traditional SWM, str8 guy for sure, but that Plum Crazy just ain't bad on some cars...a lot of guys are crazy about that yellow (looks good on a Challenger) so they ought to continue offering those.

    I don't get why every American car that wasn't designed exclusively with a ruler is automatically described as having "European styling".... I'm European and this looks nothing like a European design, which is a good thing. American cars look aggressive, that's their unique characteristic, regardless if it has curves or straight lines, this dodge is definitely aggressive. It looks like a goddamn cobra on wheels.

    • @teem5642
      @teem5642 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thats exactly what I was saying. Why would they even bother try look European. The whole americanuscle car designs looked badass. Now they are going light. Really wish we had american designed cars in the uk, tired of my astra..

      MihaiRUdeRO I'm guessing it's just a marketing gimmick to appeal to a larger base. you never hear "japanese styling" or "korean styling" but both of those countries make some pretty good cars.

    The 2015 Charger R/T did 0-60 in 5.2 seconds, and ran 13.6 @ 105 mph through the 1/4 mile in Car & Driver, for those who didn't see the article.

    • @BurnseysRT
      @BurnseysRT 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah these test drivers suck apparently. The RT Road and track pack can do 0-60 in 5 flat and a 13.3 1/4 mile. The non Road and track should be in that 5.1-5.2 / 13.5 range. 14.0 as tested at 103 doesn't make any sense unless you spun the $hit out of the tires.

    Rented one in 2016 for a road trip from North TX to Maine. Great rider and beautiful handling, smooth ride, and quiet. Rented a SXT but had option for R/T. Had the rental been local or less of a drive I would have taken it. I didn’t want to risk getting the oil change messages during middle of the trip and even worse swapping out and getting a downgrade. SXT with the 3.6 and 8 Seed Automatic transmission, had a fairly constant low 30’s MPG and occasionally mid 30’s...yes even cruising in the mid 70’s. Depending on your driving habits I would not have any concerns about stretching 500 miles or plus from one tank on the 3.6. I would estimate conservative very close to 450 miles per tank for a 5.7 HEMI.

    My sis was looking at a 2015 charger sxt or sxe+ (not familiar with the trim levels). the dealer let her barrow it for the day, and she asked me to go with her to take it back. She didn't end up buying that one, but we went to go look at another one on the other side of town that had 18k mi on it and was $$ cheaper. Go figure, they didn't have it. She was looking at another charger and really wanted one with the moon roof, but like any good brother would, I convinced her that a V8 was a better choice than a moon roof. She ended up getting a Charger R/T fully loaded (except the moon roof) and the thing is SICK!

    • @Brian-kn4dn
      @Brian-kn4dn 8 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Firstly, I didn't "make" my sister buy anything. She bought it with her own money, and because she wanted it. Secondly, that's a pretty antiquated view of gender roles that you have. Maybe you think she should have gotten a Prius and put the extra money in a high end stove or a state of the art iron, but that isn't her style. The last time I checked, they don't ask to examine your testicles when you check the "V8 option". tf does anybody need a v8 for? because she had cash on hand to buy it and because she wanted it. I don't know how inferior you think the women in your family are, but my sister plenty capable behind the wheel.

    Recently bought this as the R/T with Road and Track package with Black/Red-Black color scheme. Love this new car. I've been driving Germans for a decade now and this is my first American car since the early 00s. Wow, what an improvement Americans have made since before the recession. I will disagree with the reviewer on one point: the SD card slot is AWESOME! I loaded all my favorite music on to a 16GB SD card and now I hardly ever listen to the radio or XM! My only real gripe with this car is the Nav's keyboard is disabled above 4mph. Meaning I can't change my course or add a custom destination while cruising. How about enabling the keyboard if there is a passenger!? Other than that, it's a great ride!

However I'm looking at a new Charger and the color and options I want are in 3 or 6 vehicles at various local dealers, the thing is they're all Charger 3.6L SXT 6 cyclinder cars...but I've heard the Pentastar V-6 will run like a racehorse ! They all have the Plus package, one actually has 3 packages included...it's got EVERYTHING !! LOL. SO ? You really like the SXT's huh ? How about power ? Top speed ? Thanks in advance for ur input !

    While I'm not jumping for joy over this refresh, I don't hate it. It still has the Coke bottle shape from the side. The taillights.. you could say they look like the Dodge Dart... or more like the current Viper's. The front end does bare a resemblance to the Dart, but without that black section of the lower grille not as much. The slimmed down grille isn't as aggressive, but ok. Wish they didn't keep the cross hair, a 69 style grille center would look better. Looks more like the discontinued Avenger than a Dart in the front if you ask me... don't like the 68-70 style scoops being replaced by the Avengeresqe bulges. Interior they got right, with only minor tweaks to dash and technology. Like the 3 piece flat spoiler better than the raised spoiler it replaces. Less of a blind spot in the back.

    That was a very conservative 0-60 time specially for an 8 speed trans. I heard those tires squealing for like 400 feet. A track that is actually prepped or a more trained driver that can get those rear tires hooked up can get that down a few tenths...nothing but love for Motorweek though. You guys cover everything about the car.

    • @davidduplessis7800
      @davidduplessis7800 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know this is an OLD thread,, but ooooh yeah it was a conservative number! I have a 2019 V6 with the 8 speed, and it fkn hauls ASS! I am WELL into the mid-5 second 0-60's...and sooooo close to a 14 flat in the 1/4 mile (at a few Smart cars slower than 100 in the traps!) that nobody anywhere EVER believes it is a V6! I mean I'm sure some V6 owners know exactly what I am talking about!!
      Based on my V6 numbers, I am sure the Hemi (specifically the 5.7) is more than capable of a 5 second flat 0-60, and a 13.3 or even 13.2/13.1 second quarter--probably at 108-109 MPH.
      Also, I'm bone stock!

    I just had a 16 R/T with the standard 5.7, with a 280 mile loop, and my leadfooted ass behind the wheel as a rental for work. I was pleasently surprised with an average of 25.2 by the time I got back home. Yes there was mostly highway driving, but traffic and speeds were mixed due to construction, rush-hour, and climbing a mountain. I don't get NEARLY that in my 2015 Fusion 1.5 Ecoboost. It's a nice car, but you pay dearly in outward visibility for those aggressive and muscular lines. A backup camera, sensors, and blind spot system as standard equipment across the board would me much appreciated. Though so would Enterprise not filling the tires to 50 PSI when the car calls for 32.

    when I saw the front end of the car, one thing already had me curious, on the bottom grill, what is that square thing that is right in the middle of it????? Now concerning the middle display console, for safety reasons whn the car is in drive AND in motion, do all those buttons on the display lock up so that the driver cannot use them when the vehicle is in motion?

    • @supreme2005
      @supreme2005 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Andrew Silva The square thing on the grill is the radar for the adaptive cruise control. And based on how my Chrysler is set up, you can use all the screen functions while you're driving except for the navigation. It really sucks though that you still can't use it from the passenger side.

    • @pizzasubs
      @pizzasubs 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      supreme2005 Thasnk you so very much for replying, I really do appreciate it, I was only asking about the Middle display console only because I have heard that in order to be able to make sure the driver keeps his eye on the road, alot of these consoles nowdays once the car is put into the drive, all of the buttons on the display automaticly lock and they cannot be used pretty much of a safety feature, which in a way is a pretty smart idea, now for the adaptive cruise, I am guessing that device in the grill is used for if you have it on, if you get too close to the car in front of you, it automaticly slow downs the speed of the car, is this correct???? Thanks again.

      Power wise the mustang gt will take the rt & camaro but even the ecoboost/v6 mustang is running in the low to mid 5s. (unless the camaro is a SS 2016 model but realize that chevy will have multiple recalls) If you actually appreciate having a backseat & have a budget than I say the RT for American car wise. If you don't mind driving a stick than get a subaru sti, you won't be dissapointed.

This is beginning to look like any other sedan on the road.........and I am not even a dodge fan. Can not imagine what a fan of the charger thinks.

    • @robertkurt2
      @robertkurt2 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're absolutely right. I own a previous gen 2012 Charger and it does a much better job of fusing retro and modern in its styling than this new version. Do I like the new 2015? As a well equipped sporty looking car, yes I do. However do I like the car as a "Dodge Charger" that I would mod, take to show and shines and hang out with other Mopar owners with? Absolutely not.

    • @DoYouThinkForUrselF
      @DoYouThinkForUrselF 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      robertkurt2 exactly. I liked all the the previous new generation chargers, they were true to their heritage yet looked very good as far as modern cars are concerned. They had a badass look, a muscle car touch in a sea of cars it stood out. Now it's undistinguishable from any modern sport model car. What a mistake, IMHO.

    • @robertkurt2
      @robertkurt2 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      DoYouThinkForUrselF I think we are already seeing the result of a bad decision in the lack of sales so far. I go on both the Canadian and American Auto Trader sites and of all the new Chargers listed, not one has been sold. Nobody on any of the forums I'm a member of has bought one yet. (Except maybe the odd hellcat) I have yet to see an owner review on TH-cam of a 2015 Charger. None of the dealerships in my city have any on the lot. I suspect that is because they are already predicting it will be a poor seller. Heck when the Charger was resurrected in 2006 and refreshed in 2011 dealerships here had 10 to 15 each and they were selling like Hotcakes.

    People need to get over the look. It is a corporate design. Just like every other manufacture does. And its been done for decades. 05-10 looked like the Avenger, 11-14 looked like a Ram. IMO outside of the 12-14 SRT line the 11-14 Charger looked plain. Same goes for this version. The Scat Pack/SRT line gets the aggressive look.
    People complain about every version. So this is nothing new.
    Dog it if you want. But ill be enjoying my Charger Scat Pack with 485 H.P., 8 speed auto with rev match shifting, and improved interior. :D

The 8 speed behind the HEMI's are slightly bulkier, so it might just be a packaging issue they are working out for the Transfer Case and front driveshaft and the right floor pan, which is already altered to make room for the existing Transfer case setup.

MOST OF THE PEOPLE I SEE DRIVING THE CAR ARE MALES IN THEIR 20'S AND 30'S WHO BUY THE CAR PARTIALLY FOR THE MUSCLE CAR LOOKS WHICH IT LOST ALOT OF IN THE 2015 EXTERIOR DESIGN. I GUESS THEY TAMED DOWN THE EXTERIOR DESIGN TO MAKE THE CAR MORE APPEALING TO A LARGER TARGET MARKET. I PERSONALLY DONT LIKE THE NEW DESIGN BUT THE CAR SALES WILL TELL THE TALE OF WHETHER ITS A SUCCESS FOR THE DODGE COMPANY.

      I hate to say it but it is true about older 1s. The 5 speed auto doesn't survive long, and there are numerous mechanical issues with the 5.7s. Also, they had a multitude of suspension and brake problems. Our town had an 11, 13, and 14, Charger Police Pursuit ( i think that's the name) All 3 were retired at just 77-85k ( not sure on engine hrs though) whereas the Crown Vics they replaced had well over 220k on them, then were/are used for emergency services, aux security vehicles, and parades. We still have 1 left used as a patroller. Now, the rest of our fleet is Explorers. I will say that several towns surrounding us still use Chargers, sixes and V8s.
