I once had a really close best friend, but like this video, I had to let her go. We had become distant and when we did talk, it was fights. It was still hard though. To whoever needs to hear it, it’s all right to let go of that friend. It may hurt at first, but it’s better than constant pain from trying to keep it together
I left my best friend after reevaluating the last few years. Constant put downs repeatedly breaking confidences trying to control me and re writing history to their benefit I don't regret moving on it's them that forced the split but they play the victim and blame me even though they know they caused it

Very timely. I just acknowledged to a "best" friend of 35 years that I was carrying the burden of single-handedly trying to maintain the friendship, but no more. A short letter, only best wishes, inside a lovely card, and I felt very sad, but relieved, to finally articulate what needed to be said. 🙁

2nd one is a bit misleading. I left for another state 3 years ago and hence was unable to meet my friend. We rarely talk like once every 2 months. But when we do, we talk for hours. We share everything, even the most embarrassing thing like old times. We trust each other a lot. We both are busy with our lives but if anyone of us decides to initiate a chat, the other doesn't hold back. Both of us have found new best friends but we can't ever forget each other. It's complicated I know but we're far from letting each other go.

We talk our hearts out and it feels like there was never a time gap. Even my ldbff. We've been bff's for 2 years. And we have a rule (due to circumstances) that we only get to talk on sundays. And boi do we utilize it. Every goodbye feels heartbreaking but the hello the next sunday makes it all worth it.

When you're ignorant about narcissism it will take years until you realize their true character and what they really think and feel about you. my advice to everyone out there is to really understand what makes a narcissist and think carefully about that person.
The worst feeling in the world is when you're practically begging for their company and they constantly have excuses why they can't but then willingly and effortlessly do the same things you wanted but with someone else.
same thing is happening to me right now. My best friend got a boyfriend two months ago and i’m happy for her. But when I went to see her a few weeks ago I begged her not to go to to a practice that she didn’t have to go to. She just wanted to spend more time with her boyfriend and told me straight to my face that she had nothing better to do even though they were seeing each other again the same night and I live 30 minutes away so I only see her a few times a year. Then she invited me somewhere, never gave me the details and went with her boyfriend instead. It’s truly the worst feeling
Yes this is me!! Especially on holidays. Birthdays etc. but when they see me living my life & moving on, they want to know why I didn’t include them… we deserve so much more so I’m cutting those people loose, grieving/healing & find people that want me just as much as I want them..

Well, I had a bit of a morbid curiosity, and am kinda paranoid, but none of the people who I consider my best friends have a 1/6 at most. And that's only cause college, but we all still make an effort to talk to eachother, at least once a day or more.
My best friend passed away last year. She was and will be irreplaceable. After losing her, I realized all my other friends were not truly friends. I’m grateful I got to have her in my life. I am learning to be happy without friends.

@@franziskawalser301 I advise you to write them letter telling them how amazing they were and how much you loved them, and then write everything bad they've done to you, and how much they hurt you, address them in your letter like they're in front of you, and when you're done your feelings will be relieved, then just burn the letter (or delete it if on mobile or pc) and don't you ever let them read it. That friendship is over Period.

I let go of my bestie of 42 years in February. We had been through so much together and were always there for each other. My dad died last December and she couldn’t be bothered to come and see me, and my son reminded me that it had been over 4 years since she had visited me. It was always me going to her, I’m slightly disabled and it’s a bit of a drive. She had surgery to remove large benign cysts from her ovaries and I took my own shower chair for her to use at home and went to stay for a week to help look after her through the day. This was last June 2022, and I have a carer myself. I sent her a message telling her that I didn’t want her to contact me anymore. And it hurt to do that. We had been besties for 2/3 of my life, her kids are family to us. But she just didn’t want to bother and to be there for me as I was for her last year. So that’s it. Never had the decency to return my shower chair either, I had to get another. Said all I needed to know about her. Her oldest and dearest friend she called me, what a joke. Bye Jan.
Same had a kindergarten friend been few years had to cut few "friends" out my life. Learned that at 35 not everyone is a "friend" best decision I could have done. It has been hell but being on your own means less issues. We become dependent unfortunately.

My ex-bestie could not even bother to reach out to me personally and say sorry for your loss or even ask me how am I doing. She hung out with other people so she clearly had 5 seconds to type how are you doing. Recently, she had a party and I was clearly not invited as I saw the photos on social media. I stopped initiating the conversations and am learning to just let them. People will tell you who they are once you let them.

Same. (I hope she doesn't read this-) She's an internet friend of mine. I met her a year ago. We're at 6th grade at that time. She's really kind (to me to say the least) and we made a little group and that's where we make more friends. When she's going into 7th grade, she changed completely. She keeps bragging about the things that's happening in her life and she doesn't care about me and the group anymore. Then she has a new friend that has a Yt channel too. He was her crush (And my new online bff/twin). She keeps bragging stuffs and keeps spamming on the group chat. I literally got sick of it, as well as the group. Then that's where she started being a brat which wasn't like her before. She was angry after what me and my friend said. Then we're all okay again. I got close to her crush (not romanticly) since whenever we're (me, the girl and her 2 friends) in a group call, she and her friend always hung up with no reasons. So that made me and her crush talk more often to each other. That made her jealous and she said "you don't care about me and *insert her friend's name here* anymore. You only care about *insert the girl's crush name here* " I was so confused since I did treat them equally. I saw hi to her whenever she's online. Always ask her "wassup, how's your day??" And she said I have a special hello towards her crush. Wtf is even a special hello?? I just call him "Sup dude". Then some time later she and her friend suddenly said I'm a liar, two faced, pretend hero, and all of that junk and I was literally confused and asked what's going on. The girl said I was going to kick her and her friend off the group and steal her crush away from her (literally saying I have a crush on him which I don't. I have feelings towards someone else) and I have no idea where that came from. Then they're mad at me and shaming me and such. Her crush just feels guilty. I private chat him and asked him what happened and he said that it's all his fault and how sorry he is. He explained everything and I actually understand. So I told him it's okay it's not his fault. After all of that went by, those two just left the group. Idk how are they but I know it's time to let go of the girl that I knew a year ago since she changed completely. Yeah just think long hard beforehand though. I cut off my best friend bc of signs like this without realizing our communication was completely different. We had a big talk today and she had no idea she went away when I needed her the most bc I did not communicate! But she always communicated when she felt something or needed something. I may be off but I sense you are a very giving person who caters to people’s needs constantly you make sure ppl are okay, things are okay almost like you are holding the weight of the world on your back! I searched up “how to deal with best friends leaving you out” because I’m in a group of 3 friends and it’s so difficult, and I’m always the one that’s left out and the other 2 have so many inside jokes and it’s so heartbreaking because I’ve known her for 6 years and she’s only known the person we’re in a group of 3 with for less than a year and it sucks.

The worse case scenario is that, your BESTFRIEND was your childhood friend. Whenever you think of your past especially your childhood and that BESTFRIEND was always there in your memories. That BESTFRIEND is always present in ur memorable moments. I'd say, it FVCK!NG HURTS SO MUCH! Much hurt than losing your bf/gf. Imagine after decades of friendship, it just suddenly snapped and "IT'S OVER." Remember, aside from ur family, Friendship is the second relationship we have after our families or relatives. I recently let go of my best friend and it all started when he moved to a different country. He found a new best friend in his newfound country with his parents and he started playing with him the same amount of time as we used to play when he was still in my country. Then he stopped texting me as often and calling me. My usual schedule was wake up, eat breakfast and play with my friend all day long, but when he got his new friend he started playing with him on the daily. I understood that the timezones with a little bit different like an hour difference, but that wasn't the answer. He started playing a new game with his NEW friend and left me behind. I struggled to keep this friendship on and i just gave up. It wasn't worth keeping this friendship alive because i was the only one keeping it still, like building blocks. The moment i gave up on my best friend made the boulder get off of me. But there came another problem which is still relevant to this day. I am very shy and can't make new friend all of the sudden. I want friends like my old best friend, i am doubting that if i even can make a new friend like him. And now I'm lonely, without a sibling to play with because I'm was a single child and no one to play with. I don't want virtual friends, i want real friends but i can't make new friends because im shy. being on the computer just feels like wasting time on playing games and torturing my mind.
7. They choose their overly jealous and possessive boyfriend who doesn't like them talking to anyone else over you when you've been by their side for 6+ years. Then they decide to metaphorically slap you in the face a year later by saying that their boyfriend is "all they have left" in their life and then proceed to ghost you.

It just gives me anxiety and overthink things. But I know it's in my recommendations, because I've had past experiences with this, and this was more of a reassurance that I did the right thing. I am VERY happy in my current best friendship! I can relate. It’s hard for me to allow myself to ever start to think of someone as a “best friend,” even after reaching many years of being friends. Anyone I’ve ever felt especially close to has gone out of their way to let me know that I’m not *their* best friend. It’s a perception that feels so unlikely to ever be reciprocated, it sucks :/
I had a best friend but then I moved almost 3 years ago it was really hard at first but know I’m just used to it. When I first moved we called a lot and now we don’t as much anymore. We are still friends but our bff relationship started falling apart since I moved it’s time to forget the fact will never be bffs again.

It absolutely does. I'm in a place right now where my friend and I are just super distant. I don't feel like she wants to even be around me. I feel like I'm the only one trying, and friendships are supposed to be two ways. Recently I made a new friend, and we've been hanging out a bit more, and have a lot of fun. Oh my goodness the hurt among you young ones! I'm 69 and a mean 'friend' at ages 8-14 or so coloured my view of friendships for ever. She wanted me as her 'best friend' but on condition she had other best friends too and I wasn't 'allowed' to have any other friends. Proper childhood manipulation - she made me feel as though I was weird and unworthy of friendships. I was probably insecure and therefore vulnerable but I could never pull away from her until I was 14 or 15. We went our separate ways thankfully but I've always struggled with friendships. I've got and have had, lots of dear friends over many years, am happily married with grown-up children and gorgeous grandchildren - but I don't like getting too involved with friends. I've got so much to be grateful for, just wish I'd been able to stand up to that girl all those decades ago. My message is clear - Don't stand any nonsense from anyone as YOU are worth so much more than that. It's actually character-building and liberating being on your own for a while but don't fret because you will soon discover other friendships in the least likely places. Warmest wishes.

Used to go to his place when i was younger. Have always had a rocky relationship with my mother and everytime i felt scared or hurt I'd go to his place and his family welcomed me over ALWAYS. I could sleep over at their place and my mother would come the next day to come get me. This cycle went on for over 10 years. This friend has been an integral part of my upbringing. He and his family will forever hold a special place in my heart no matter what. They made a hellish childhood infinitely brighter. I owe them everything

Don’t let anyone make you think you’re not good enough. If you need to cut them off, do it. If you’re afraid of being alone, it’s better than being stuck with someone whose toxic and doesn’t make time for you. Getting some space can also help boost your self esteem. I've been with my bestfriend for 11 years and today, I remembered her again. I watched her socials, she already removed our pictures and also realized she doesn't follow me back anymore. We never fought, it's just we went to college and never talked again. I see her sometimes but she acts as if she didn't see me. I don't know how we got to this point, I mean for 11 years, we used to treat each other as sisters then this year, we just *poof* fell apart. What hurts me is the fact that we were on good terms before all this went down. I probably neeed closure but--all I know is that right now, it would have been great if we were still hanging out on a cafe and talking about our current lives like we pictured when we were younger.
I’ve dropped quite a few “friends” because it’s all been one sided. I finally realized that I have taught them how to treat me. It all stems from childhood hurt. As you grow, and understand this, it is incredibly painful, but necessary for your inner peace to let go of people who are only there when they need something.
I dropped 2 of my best friends a couple of months ago because of their ignorance and boyfriends controlling there every move and words that come out of their mouth. It’s sad because it’s not even them talking to me truthfully because of the toxic lies being fed to them that are brainwashing them while I’ve always been open with genuine love and care I had for these people. But, it will always be one sided so I’ve been dealing with a lot of emotions such as anger and sadness. I tend to project to the people that actually do care about me and are in my life right now. With a toxic, abusive marriage. I could not see what it was doing to me at the time, and especially people around me. Just a word of advice, (you don’t have to take it, As I am just a stranger) from someone who has lived it; when they finally get out, and see that you were a good friend, who genuinely cared for them, allow them to apologize, with an open heart. It was a while ago that I didn't even know if I should consider myself friends with the person, and after carefully re-evaluating my options I decided to end it. This can happen certainly. It depends on the people and the situation. I just want to say that I relate. My so called "best-friend" only talks to me when she needs something. I left for another state 3 years ago and hence was unable to meet my friend.
We rarely talk like once every 2 months. But when we do, we talk for hours. We share everything, even the most embarrassing thing like old times. We trust each other a lot. We both are busy with our lives but if anyone of us decides to initiate a chat, the other doesn't hold back.
Both of us have found new best friends but we can't ever forget each other. It's complicated I know but we're far from letting each other go.

same thing is happening to me right now. My best friend got a boyfriend two months ago and i’m happy for her. But when I went to see her a few weeks ago I begged her not to go to to a practice that she didn’t have to go to. She just wanted to spend more time with her boyfriend and told me straight to my face that she had nothing better to do even though they were seeing each other again the same night and I live 30 minutes away so I only see her a few times a year. Then she invited me somewhere, never gave me the details and went with her boyfriend instead.

I let go of my bestie of 42 years in February. We had been through so much together and were always there for each other. My dad died last December and she couldn’t be bothered to come and see me, and my son reminded me that it had been over 4 years since she had visited me. It was always me going to her, I’m slightly disabled and it’s a bit of a drive. She had surgery to remove large benign cysts from her ovaries and I took my own shower chair for her to use at home and went to stay for a week to help look after her through the day. This was last June 2022, and I have a carer myself. I sent her a message telling her that I didn’t want her to contact me anymore. And it hurt to do that. We had been besties for 2/3 of my life, her kids are family to us. But she just didn’t want to bother and to be there for me as I was for her last year. So that’s it. Never had the decency to return my shower chair either, I had to get another. Said all I needed to know about her. Her oldest and dearest friend she called me, what a joke. Bye Jan.

She's an internet friend of mine. I met her a year ago. We're at 6th grade at that time. She's really kind (to me to say the least) and we made a little group and that's where we make more friends.
When she's going into 7th grade, she changed completely. She's started to ignore me and the group. Btw the group is also my best online friends. She keeps bragging how cool her new school is and I can't really question that.

One of her new friends made a Yt channel and that's what she brags ever since. When I saw the video her friend made, I said "it's okay..". The video might need some improvements and such. But then all of the sudden she texted "SSSSHHHHHHH I'M TALKING TO MY NEW FRIENDS" like omg, that caught me off guard.
She keeps bragging about the things that's happening in her life and she doesn't care about me and the group anymore.
Then she has a new friend that has a Yt channel too. He was her crush (And my new online bff/twin). She keeps bragging stuffs and keeps spamming on the group chat. I literally got sick of it, as well as the group.
Then that's where she started being a brat which wasn't like her before. She was angry after what me and my friend said.
Then we're all okay again. I got close to her crush (not romanticly) since whenever we're (me, the girl and her 2 friends) in a group call, she and her friend always hung up with no reasons. So that made me and her crush talk more often to each other. That made her jealous and she said "you don't care about me and *insert her friend's name here* anymore. You only care about *insert the girl's crush name here* " I was so confused since I did treat them equally. I saw hi to her whenever she's online. Always ask her "wassup, how's your day??" And she said I have a special hello towards her crush. Wtf is even a special hello?? I just call him "Sup dude".
Then some time later she and her friend suddenly said I'm a liar, two faced, pretend hero, and all of that junk and I was literally confused and asked what's going on. The girl said I was going to kick her and her friend off the group and steal her crush away from her (literally saying I have a crush on him which I don't. I have feelings towards someone else) and I have no idea where that came from. Then they're mad at me and shaming me and such. Her crush just feels guilty. I private chat him and asked him what happened and he said that it's all his fault and how sorry he is. He explained everything and I actually understand. So I told him it's okay it's not his fault.
After all of that went by, those two just left the group. Idk how are they but I know it's time to let go of the girl that I knew a year ago since she changed completely. Like I don't even know her anymore.

I recently let go of my best friend and it all started when he moved to a different country. He found a new best friend in his newfound country with his parents and he started playing with him the same amount of time as we used to play when he was still in my country. Then he stopped texting me as often and calling me. My usual schedule was wake up, eat breakfast and play with my friend all day long, but when he got his new friend he started playing with him on the daily. I understood that the timezones with a little bit different like an hour difference, but that wasn't the answer. He started playing a new game with his NEW friend and left me behind. I struggled to keep this friendship on and i just gave up. It wasn't worth keeping this friendship alive because i was the only one keeping it still, like building blocks. The moment i gave up on my best friend made the boulder get off of me. But there came another problem which is still relevant to this day. I am very shy and can't make new friend all of the sudden. I want friends like my old best friend, i am doubting that if i even can make a new friend like him. And now I'm lonely, without a sibling to play with because I'm was a single child and no one to play with. I don't want virtual friends, i want real friends but i can't make new friends because im shy. being on the computer just feels like wasting time on playing games and torturing my mind.

Oh my goodness the hurt among you young ones! I'm 69 and a mean 'friend' at ages 8-14 or so coloured my view of friendships for ever.
She wanted me as her 'best friend' but on condition she had other best friends too and I wasn't 'allowed' to have any other friends. Proper childhood manipulation - she made me feel as though I was weird and unworthy of friendships. I was probably insecure and therefore vulnerable but I could never pull away from her until I was 14 or 15.
We went our separate ways thankfully but I've always struggled with friendships. I've got and have had, lots of dear friends over many years, am happily married with grown-up children and gorgeous grandchildren - but I don't like getting too involved with friends.
I've got so much to be grateful for, just wish I'd been able to stand up to that girl all those decades ago.
My message is clear - Don't stand any nonsense from anyone as YOU are worth so much more than that. It's actually character-building and liberating being on your own for a while but don't

Don’t let anyone make you think you’re not good enough. If you need to cut them off, do it. If you’re afraid of being alone, it’s better than being stuck with someone whose toxic and doesn’t make time for you. Getting some space can also help boost your self esteem. Once you’re comfortable with yourself and confident, new people will start to be drawn to be your friend. And you’ll know when you’ve got a real friend. Fuck em. They aren’t worth your time girl 💕
I've been with my bestfriend for 11 years and today, I remembered her again. I watched her socials, she already removed our pictures and also realized she doesn't follow me back anymore. We never fought, it's just we went to college and never talked again. I see her sometimes but she acts as if she didn't see me. I don't know how we got to this point, I mean for 11 years, we used to treat each other as sisters then this year, we just *poof* fell apart. What hurts me is the fact that we were on good terms before all this went down. I probably neeed closure but--all I know is that right now, it would have been great if we were still hanging out on a cafe and talking about our current lives like we pictured when we were younger.
I’ve dropped quite a few “friends” because it’s all been one sided. I finally realized that I have taught them how to treat me. It all stems from childhood hurt. As you grow, and understand this, it is incredibly painful, but necessary for your inner peace to let go of people who are only there when they need something.
I dropped 2 of my best friends a couple of months ago because of their ignorance and boyfriends controlling there every move and words that come out of their mouth. It’s sad because it’s not even them talking to me truthfully because of the toxic lies being fed to them that are brainwashing them while I’ve always been open with genuine love and care I had for these people. But, it will always be one sided so I’ve been dealing with a lot of emotions such as anger and sadness. I tend to project to the people that actually do care about me and are in my life right now. I hope you find friends that are good and genuine to you. ❤️

With a toxic, abusive marriage. I could not see what it was doing to me at the time, and especially people around me. I truly hope they are able to get out of those relationships before it’s too late. Just a word of advice, (you don’t have to take it, As I am just a stranger) from someone who has lived it; when they finally get out, and see that you were a good friend, who genuinely cared for them, allow them to apologize, with an open heart. But, never forget how they treated you, and create boundaries for yourself, so it never hurts you again. People have become very mean, and are lashing out a lot lately. I don’t understand it. I’m actually past the sadness, and enjoy my new very small circle of friends, who align more with my values. I will never again allow one sided friendships. It drains you of everything, to the point of having nothing left to give. Hold the friends that love you, and treat you with respect tightly. I’ve realized they are very hard to find.

I have too. I feel the exact same way. It was a while ago that I didn't even know if I should consider myself friends with the person, and after carefully re-evaluating my options I decided to end it. It was the right decision for myself and I knew I had to do it to help myself because if I didn't do anything, the person wouldn't care about me anyway, which wouldn't be a win for myself. Sometimes, it is essential to do what is right for yourself, especially if other people won't do it for you.

This is like my used to be best friend, which for a long time I went through denial, until finally I accepted and moved on. I tried to hold on, but she wasn’t trying at all. Now she sometimes tries to catch my eye and talk to me, but it always gets awkward. She SOMETIMES tries to get our friendship back together, but I know she’ll just leave me again. This can happen certainly. It depends on the people and the situation. I just want to say that I relate. As an adult who is only getting older with more major responsibilities, this happens, but you know it’s mutual when you finally do get to talk with the other person and it genuinely feels natural, as if nothing changed.

My so called "best-friend" only talks to me when she needs something. And when she sees me feeling a bit down she talks to me in a weird quirky "funny" voice (as we used to do) and it feels awkward and forced so I just play along and try to hide the fact that she's no longer my friend. She also started hanging out with other friends. I'm an introvert so it's kinda hard to find to find that kind of luxury. We've grown so far apart. I know this is a part of growing up or whatever but why does life have to be so cruel!? Back then we were very good friends. I miss that. All I want is someone who genuinely loves me and for someone to like me for who I am, not for someone I am masquerading as. But I know faith has other plans. Until then I'll be crying in a dark room watching videos of us from before continuously mourning until someone decides to talk to me.

So a couple days ago i was having a bad day and i didnt wanted to talk to anyone but i went on roblox and my friends kinda figured out I was having a bad day they told me what's wrong and I said nothing cause I didnt feel like talking but they kept asking me and I got frustrated and a told them to pls stop that I need space and disnt feel like talking I also felt like I shouldn't tell them cause I wanted to keep it to myself cause its bot there bussiness. I know there just concerned but when I played a roblox game to relax they joined my game and told me what's wrong after I told them to stop then I snapped and said I didn't want to be there friend anymore then they told me that they were just putting on a fake smile and that when they always ask me how my day was I never ask them and I was so confused on how that haded to do with anything but now I know but when I told them that I needed space they said that I cant have space that I need to tell em so I just left the game unfriend them and blocked them on tik tok was that the right thing to do?
