    Everyday BBQ & Cooking - There was a place up here in Wisconsin and I believe they had some in IL. as well that was called Geri's Hamburgers. They actually used Dill Pickle Juice to clean there flat top grill every night before they closed. I had a friend that worked there and we watched them clean it one night. Give it a try.

    Yup I use plain water to clean cast iron pans. Same concept applies to griddles. It is water AND soap to avoid cleaning with.

  • @txfieros
    @txfieros 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I find water to be the best cleaner on my polished cast iron lodge pan (not a griddle, but same concept obviously). Just a bit of water and a nylon scraper and everything just comes off. Super easy. I know some have said if stuff is real stuck to warm up the pan and use water, much like you did here. I’ve never found the need. I have a good amount of seasoning passes on my polished pan so it’s a cinch to clean.

    Rags work so much better that paper towels, but then they are hard to clean. Paper towels always leave lint on the surface for me.
    Edit: wipeall shop rags work well. They leave a little lint but you can then do the final wipe with a kitchen rag after it's already mostly clean. Then you don't ruin your kitchen rags. 👍🏻

    I had not thought of using a can of spray oil, but I think that's what I'll switch to doing. But man, you don't wipe the oil after spraying? I want a *very* even and *thin* coat of oil; I can't imagine just letting it sit there.

    • @EverydayBBQ
      @EverydayBBQ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All I can say is I’ve been doing it for 5 years and never had an issue. If you’re like me, live in a cold climate, and sometimes let your griddle sit for months, you’ll be glad you did it this way.

    Great video! I recently rediscovered your channel and wanted to check this video out specifically and ask; how has using cooking spray worked out for you over the years? I hear/see a lot of people talk about buildup from sprays and how they're awful for these surfaces.
    I typically use regular canola oil or Crisco for my Blackstone but if you've had good results with spray oil I may move to that.

    • @EverydayBBQ
      @EverydayBBQ  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@SOU3120
      I have been using it for 6 to 7 years with no issues. You don’t want to use too thick of a coat just a little spray to make sure you cover the whole surface and of course the key is cleaning it properly before you spray that I think most people don’t take the time to properly clean before they coat it with spray and then they blame it on the spray instead of their laziness.

    I use oil. Just keep wiping it until the paper towel isn't as dirty after I get the chunks off using the scraper. Never thought of using water. I always thought water would unseason it. Hardest part was getting the new off it when I first bout it. Only owned it for 3 days and I love it.
