I have a 2015 model with this 2.0 engine and its okay. They are shifting way too late. But the whole time they were talking abiut the "bet" and not the cars characteritics, feel and attitude. Its not a sportscar but it will spin the wheels snd kick side ways off the stop lights. 🤟 Its meant tbe driven smoothly with more than enough time to get to bingo. Also the bose sound system bumps! Plush leather seats and beutifal wood on the dash and door trim. The seat lifts up a but to help you out and the remote start and automtic dual climate control is great for you and your wife comfort. Smooth, stylish and feels solid.
I MUST have this car! What a beautiful automobile! I have been buying Cadillacs ever since 1940 and I would NEVER trade it for anything else!! I have known so many people with Japanes and German cars and they ALL had serious and expensive problems. I have never had those problems with any of my more then 20 Cadillacs!
Oh this is great news MotoMan! I've always wanted to chat with a Super Hero like Batman, or Superman. But I got to chat with the Great MOTOMAN he stands for what I love and honor. Thanks MotoMan for bringing truth and Justice to the Automotive world!
Hey Eric! The camera car was another ATS but the question should not be what the camera was, rather WHO was driving it! That car was piloted Cadillac racing driver, Dave Michaels. On our first lap out, he said he was going to go 'easy' so we could get to know the track - Don and I could barely keep up!
I suggest you drive the new XTS, or a V6 equipped Buick LaCrosse before making a blanket statement on their transmissions. That said, I would have to agree with you on previous efforts in manuals. Funny though, the Chief Engineer of GM's small cars worldwide is a MAJOR car guy. He was previously assigned to C and D segment cars and that is why those cars have proper transmissions which he is now applying it to small cars. The manual transmission in the Sonic is downright fun to drive.
What you guys didn't see was the first lap with the camera car in front of us. It was driven by none other than Cadillac's race car drive 'Dave' and as we were planning out the shooting, he said he would take it easy on us - then we got out there and could barely keep up . . . :)
i just read some comments about people not liking the exhaust note of it, well keep in mind that this particular ATS features a 2 liter 4 cylinder engine unit, albeit a very potent one of course, 4 cylinders aren't necessarily known to make the greatest of all sounds, did you except a deep burly rumble to come from it!?? besides the factory exhaust setup is probably a mild one, since the job to "wake up the neighbors" will be reserved for the V model.
Now if only the other 2 engines came with a manual, then it'd be competitive to the BMW 3 Series which offers a manual transmission with all engine options. Even though it's already competitive to the BMW.
at the end i thought they were going to open up that trailer and let you flog around a ctsv that they had hiding in there. Yea the ctsv may be old news to some now, but still, i'm pretty sure you would've enjoyed throwing it around on that course.
We are already doing that in the blog. I have given some behind the scenes for Targa, Bentley, Range Rover and others. You will see more of this there as well as in some future episodes/Exhaust Notes/Clips
thank you for your elaboration, i was just wondering about those that mentioned it, alluding to a "lackluster sound" overall i guess watching you as you are behind the wheel speaks volumes about the ATS and tells us all we must know about the car in general. as in, it is a formidable contender to "ze germans" that used to own the segment previously (sorry japan) anyways, keep up the great work MotoMan, i enjoy your work and am a great fan of yours ! greetings from , guess where... germany.
You'll need to pay attention to what I've written Motoman. I've specified FWD trannys. The manual in the ZL1 is similer to the High Output vettes... Which again I've set aside. I just want the best for this vehicle, I haven't been so excited for a GM vehicle in a long time, and I am a die hard GM fan.
Hey Guys! Do have to weigh in here. Can't say I expected a throaty exhaust when I turned up to drive the ATS. As such, I was not as disappointed. Yes, it sounds A LOT better in person - remember, you are hearing a lot of wind noise as well . . .
These are brand new vehicles both designed to be driven by grand parents motoman. I'm talking about people driving a car to use the horsepower that came with it. I've had a ton of GM FWD automatic vehicles at all power levels. I also have a Eco Cruze, the gear box is terrible. I LOVE the car and I don't race it because I understand the spirit of the vehicle, but sometimes the car is so slow I actually have to beat on it to prevent death from merging on some highways from a stop. ....
I would be very hard pressed to call GM Autos slow and weak - very far from the truth as they are generally bulletproof. The manual in the Camaro ZL1 is a model of what they should be doing.
Riding with Don Butler doesn't seem as fun as riding with Ralph Gilles, but given the nature of an SRT to this ATS, I'll let that slide. I would like to know, MotoMan, what your camera car(s) is/are. It seems the camera just wanted to speed ahead of that ATS at any moment.
This question is for anybody... Which car is faster on average? A 2008+ 304 HP CTS 3.6 DI Sedan with a (6-Speed Manual), or a 2013 272 HP ATS 2.0T with a (6-Speed Manual)...? I know the ATS is like 4 or 500 pounds lighter than the CTS. On paper it looks like the ATS should take the win here, but that's just on paper obviously. I know the CTS 3.6 DI ran a best of 5.9 seconds to 60 & ran through the 1/4 mile in 14.5 @ 98.2 mph. That's just a magazine though. Thanks
The Tesla Model S Performance is the fastest sedan made in America, not the CTS-V. It has done 0-60 in 3.9 sec. and a quarter mile in 12.3 sec. vs. the CTS-V 0-60 in 4.3 sec. and the quarter in 12.4. Granted it is a lot cheaper ($40k less) but the Tesla Model S is a better, faster car.
I just got a Cadillac certified 2015 ats premium performance 3.6 triple black with 19 inch oem shiny black wheels! Absolutely love this car!

What a cool car. I've owned a couple Caddies and currently own one. I love Cadillac.
Oh this is great news MotoMan! I've always wanted to chat with a Super Hero like Batman, or Superman. But I got to chat with the Great MOTOMAN he stands for what I love and honor. Thanks MotoMan for bringing truth and Justice to the Automotive world!
I can't help but love this car.
THANKS! Don and I had a ball screaming around the track in that car . . . Looking forward to CTS!

Sadly, the 6 Speed Manual is only available on the RWD.
Can't stop laughing when I saw "THE surprise" lol. En tout cas, tres jolie voiture ^^

That's actually pretty cool. You should mention stuff like that every now and then in your videos.
The best Cadillac ATS review...EVAR!
can't wait to see in Korea.
Want to drive red one among BMW 3s to show what the real 'Gangnam Style' is
How does the 2.0 handle all the high revving? Reliability?
vielen Dank!

I am truly surprised by the sound. It sounds like it has 104hp. I'm sure it sounds better in person, but wow.
Now if only the other 2 engines came with a manual, then it'd be competitive to the BMW 3 Series which offers a manual transmission with all engine options. Even though it's already competitive to the BMW.

A shirt? Really I WANT THE CAR!!!
AGREED! But sadly, he left us . . .

anyways, keep up the great work MotoMan, i enjoy your work and am a great fan of yours !
greetings from , guess where... germany.
Manual only comes in the 2.0L Turbo
You'll need to pay attention to what I've written Motoman. I've specified FWD trannys. The manual in the ZL1 is similer to the High Output vettes... Which again I've set aside.
I just want the best for this vehicle, I haven't been so excited for a GM vehicle in a long time, and I am a die hard GM fan.
Hahahaha Motoman! This was one my Favorite MotoMan episodes. They owe you the Cadillac Ceil Concept. ;))
slap a tune on that 2.0l and you got way more power and less weight then the v6
also less longevity
Not with a good tune, and proper maintenance.
Justin Williams check ats v , v 6 turbo.

It looks great!
Good show I loved that!!! I own A CTS V!!

....
Soon . . .
I have already asked Don for one . . .
I would be very hard pressed to call GM Autos slow and weak - very far from the truth as they are generally bulletproof. The manual in the Camaro ZL1 is a model of what they should be doing.
While it does sound better in person, it does not quite have the intoxicating sounds as say a CTS-V Coupe . . .
That 2.0t on the CTS makes something like 295 lb ft of torque.
Can you only get the 6 speed manual in RWD? That'd be great option on AWD.
Now that I found out xts has caramel interior.option I'm all xts.. still wish they had that ATS red n carbon in xts
You want to have "swager", MotoMan...
DON IS THE BEST !
Sadly? This is awesome. A manual transmission + RWD = FUN! AWD is boring, expensive and more problematic.
This question is for anybody... Which car is faster on average? A 2008+ 304 HP CTS 3.6 DI Sedan with a (6-Speed Manual), or a 2013 272 HP ATS 2.0T with a (6-Speed Manual)...?

Engine sounds like an angry vacuum cleaner.. why not a 6-cylinder?
Nice drive video, but a little too cutsey.
Northstar's have no resale why?
Could it be known blown head gasket problem,...
and no one will touch.
Moto man is arrogant. Wouldnt even shake the dudes hand. Twice.
***expect***
Sounds bland as do most turbo cars now days.
First view second commend
The Tesla Model S Performance is the fastest sedan made in America, not the CTS-V. It has done 0-60 in 3.9 sec. and a quarter mile in 12.3 sec. vs. the CTS-V 0-60 in 4.3 sec. and the quarter in 12.4. Granted it is a lot cheaper ($40k less) but the Tesla Model S is a better, faster car.
