  • Time for walleye fishing. It's the dog days of August. Water temperature, 76 degrees and it's approaching noon. We've got some bright sun. Probably the worst time for fishing for walleye. Right? But not today. Normally, I would say yes, but we're going to do some deep water walleye digging deep water, folks, 50, 60, 70 feet. In fact, I'm going to start in 70 feet of water and work my way back and I'm going to concentrate on 50 to 70 feet deep. I am running the two and three quarter ounce Stingnose Minnow.

    Thank you for the videos, I've enjoyed them and am learning. One suggestion, could you spend a little time in the beginning showing your rod, reel and bait setups? Literally down to tying this here and that there?

      Hi Jacob,... thanks for the feedback and I do get into some of those points on some videos, but not all - thanks again for the feedback an meanwhile, I can also answer any questions you may have - may take a while to get back to you, but I will eventually :)

    Thats a well designed lure for fishing deep like that, I dont think it would be practical to fish for fish that deep with that kind of current with any other mainstream lure that I can think of, very little drag, sinks like a rock

    New boat owner here. I picked up a 12 foot v hull boat with a 6hp. I was wondering if this setup would be able to fish the lower Niagara river? I know the lower Niagara from the jet boat launch back to the Niagara bar only has a 8km per hour current. Would my boat be ok for this? Thanks, love the vids

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your boat and motor should be fine, as long as you stay close to shore and do not get out into the main current and stay away from the Queenston?Lewiston bridge area - if you stay close to the jet boat shoreline, you should be o.k. :)

    If it's under the length limit and has to be releases, will they survive coming from such deep water?

      Usually not unless you carry a pin to bleed the air from the bladder or work them up super slow.

    Is walleye in the same family as grayling fish?

    • @charliebelle6693
      @charliebelle6693 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. Grayling would be in the trout like species where walleye is in the perch family.

      He’s trying to cover as much skin as possible from sun, doing this day after day, year after year causes tremendous skin damage and can cause skin cancer. Sucks to wear that stuff on a hot day but that sun on the water is crazy strong.
