Do a search on throttle cable mod. The reason for your down shift is most likely a stretched out throttle cable so the tpms isn’t going to read the correct pedal position if you have to push a 1/4 of the way down before throttle blade starts opening and tpms starts send a reading to pcm, and then the further you push the pedal, it’ll eventually engage but in a wide open throttle kind of style. Zip ties is quick fix. Crawl under dash ad follow the gas pedal to the top where you’ll see where the cable connects to it. Now pull your gas pedal as far forward(towards driver seat) and look how much slack will be in between the cable end and the top of pedal where it sits in it. All you gotta do is stack multiple zip ties to take out the slack and tighten cable to where it’ll open the throttle blade when it’s suppose to. You’re gonna notice what seems like a huge off the line gain, your tranny will shift so much better, and you’re brake pedal and gas pedal “should” level back out together like it was from the factory. If you gas pedal sits significantly lower than brake pedal, this will be easiest sign of stretched out throttle cable

Thats a thing? I literally just bought one of these and I'm picking it up in about two weeks, I'm really really unhappy with the fact that it's an automatic is it really a bad thing to drive with overdrive

If your having issues starting it and if the gear shift is loose. There is 2 hex head bolts up under the dash on the gear shifter that more than likely needs to be tightened up had same issue on my 98. Cant exactly remember where they are but they are up under dash on steering column. Could find it on a forum where I found out about it.
