  • Albert Collins - Iceman (From "Live at Montreux 1992" DVD)
    Filmed just a year before his untimely death from cancer, this 1992 concert from Montreux finds the great Albert Collins still in fine form. With his trademark Fender Telecaster and distinctive finger picking style well to the fore, "The Iceman" devlivers a set that runs from his early million selling single "Frosty" right up to songs from his last studio album "Iceman". As an added bonus there are four lengthy tracks from his 1979 appearance at Montreux to make this a definitive DVD for all blues fans
    Tracklisting:
    1992:
    1) Iceman 2) Honey Hush 3) Lights Are On (But Nobody's Home) 4) If you Love Me Like You Say 5) Too Many Dirty Dishes 6) Put The Shoe On The Other Foot 7) Frosty
    1979:
    1) Listen Here 2) Snatchin' It Back 3) Cold Cold Feeling 4) Frosty

      Chicago used to have so many great places to go. Two or three on a block in some places. Most are gone now. My brothers and I used to love going to open mikes. I miss it too. Luckily, Rosa’s is still going strong.

    I mostly play doom metal with my electric (1989 peavey patriot which feels really close to a tele imo) so it’s tuned really low down to drop A#. Blues is my home tho which I mostly play acoustic, but sometimes when I’m feeling frisky I’ll capo my electric up to standard and play blues like that. Albert was definitely on to something. It feels so cool to play it like that.

    • @psaint60
      @psaint60 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There’s a video on here somewhere where Andy Aledort or some other guitar mag guy sits with Albert and he goes into some pretty in-depth detail about how he gets that sound, standard riffs he likes, etc. Some stuff he uses a pick for, but a lot of his signature percussive sound comes from finger picking almost like a bass player. It’s worth a look if you can find it.

    @poralentierno ...Capo makes it much harder and easier in some ways. It makes those bends harder because of the nut being moved to where he has it. Bonamassa is considered the best new blues guitarist and he swears up and down by a capo. It broadens your ability to play open position chords in different keys. It's a tool.

      @selliantuttimusi6735 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You're aware that the blues is mainly composed of 6 notes right? It's the way you use them and combine them what matters. AC probably just liked the sound of open strings and practiced his phrases that way with a capo. It's part of his style and sound and it's amazing :)
