Back in 1989, I was on a "football road trip" with a mate and we met Albert in a breakfast diner outside Pittsburgh. He was amazed that two Brits/Irish knew who he was! But we had breakfast together and talked about the blues. About a year later he played Birmingham England and we had tickets. We were even more amazed that he reconised us and said hi!
@@madmax8949 i know , I live 40 miles from there. I was being sarcastic about how Americans have to suffix towns and cities they named after English ones with the word “England”, when it should be the other way round. Birmingham is by default in the UK, and the other place should be “Birmingham, Alabama”.
Gary could hold his own with any guitar player on the planet, yet he never got the recognition he deserved. Duetting with the legendary Albert Collins must have been the gig of a lifetime. Both at the top of their game. The blues world is poorer as a result of their premature passing.
I always wondered why Gary Moore was not recognized as he should have had been; I came up with that he used to be in bands before his big break came in the form of the release of "Still Got the Blues". Following that incredible success, he suddenly got on the map, but he was already well into his career.
Gary Moore was in a class of his own when it comes to blues guitar. Albert Collins was perhaps more famous, but not in the same league. Ask any guitarist!
@@davidlockwood9915 They play in different ways. Albert Collins is reconised as the master and true king of the telecaster. Gary was king of his field. Your comment is disrespectful to the great Sir Albert Collins. I love them both and they both hit me the same way, HARD
The fingers make a guitarist not the guitar. I have no intention of being disrespectful but they are the cold, hard facts! If you enjoy them both that’s fantastic. Enjoy!!
Absolutely love this performance!!! Albert has an awesome tone and is an excellent showman. Gary melted my face off. Both incredible. RIP to Gary and Albert.
not often you see gary moore smile. 7:20 rest in peace You are the most wonderful guitarist ive ever heard. Glad to walk the same earth as you once did.
AC and GM had two different styles when playing blues but blended perfectly. To those that disregard Moore because his guitar tone and energy... that is his style. SRV also played with distortion and using wah wah and he was a badass blues player. Both, SRV and GM had an incredible ferocity when playing and that makes them unique. Mister AC and GM played with their heart and that is blues.
Brilliant video. One thing’s for absolute sure. Albert loved Gary and vice Versa. Albert was one hell of a showman and had tone like nobody else. Fantastic.
Два величайших исполнителя,Они играют, они живут блюзом,это не сравнить ни с чем.Это просто великолепно. Спасибо за такую музыку, это можно слушать вечно!!!!!
Absoloutely amazing. It's so perfectly describes the sorrows that follow me. My soul is dancing and smoking a cigarette in a dark corner in a New Orleans blues bar. 2 fingers of Jim and a splash of coke please.
AC was a powerhouse. Played by his own rules. On every level. He should've lived forever. I wouldn't trade him for a hundred souls. To have sat-in with his band _one god-damned time?_ Would've made this whole pathetic ride, worth it.
I have to agree with the comments about Gary's tone , and way too many licks for "the blues" ,but , that's his style ..Gary is feeling it though..In his own way... Albert Collins had one of the best tones in the blues , and he defintely feels it .. I don't think it's fair to compare apples & oranges though ... Both are great players ..
U gotta be kidding?. Gary Moore was the best blues player since Winter and Hendrix. Had his own way of expressing himself. He was all alone in a class by himself!
The Master of the Telecaster and one of the british kids who learn from these Masters and like the Stones , Zeppelin and others become rich and famous worldwide while the REAL guys vanished in time
Gary Moore is one of my favorite guitarists, but unfortunately I have to agree that his solo on this one is just too much. especially when directly contrasted with Collins' style. still an awesome performance.
@Lord Rupert I agree, to a large extent! It too often went over the top. But then I watched something like this, and quite frankly, few musicians have ever touched me like this (listen also to: With love Remember): th-cam.com/video/FiuQ1EbrT94/w-d-xo.html

Gary, your Compressor Sound from your super Fender is not Blues. I cannot hear sweet and sad thin phrases which makes a blues sound in my opinion. Gary, you rock but you still do not have the Blues. Thanks for posting.

Nobody quite had that raw edge, like Albert Collins. It was like a table saw, cutting through green wood.
