      How do you know that others are conscious ? How do you know others are sentient/exist like you ? What if you are dreaming ? Do you know anything about others other than your own knowing/experience of them ? I don't know the answer myself..

    • @shoonyah
      @shoonyah 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@moonglow6639 Honestly, these questions are meant for the likes of Rupert and Eckhart. You should ask them directly but from my limited level of knowing one thing I can totally bank on is my experiences in life...Whenever emotionally detached from the event , I have been left with a ceratin lvl of original, distilled knowing that I know ...IS MINE. I don't use Mine as an egoic word rather as a personalised version of the experienced play by the localized conciousness in a body, as Rupert puts it....That filtered component cannot be replicated, duplicated, explained, rationalized or even qunatified( as sense percetion will be used as active agents to do so and that too varies in each of our understanding)
      Two things in this talk and another by RS went st through my heart. Like an aahaa moment. "Between 2 thoughts lies love", and when he put his hand down like in a funnel motion...indicating localization of the big C.... That got me, instantly that sonething has narrowed itself, shrunk, reduced, limited ...whatever to fit into this body and wears coloured glasses to enjoy the movie, it has created to entertain itself . If it didn't, all ...all..would be pure C. What seperates us are the layers and veiling of different thought constructs. Remove the glasses, the thoughts and the body what is left is love..big C.
      Many ppl intellectually explain the same thing but when done that way it feels like a superimposition of an alien concept....when done through the heart centred approach, heart to mind way, it suddenly makes a lot more sense. Like being inside a zorb ball and then looking outside. Not looking at the zorb ball and trying to locate the centre. ...don know if that makes sense.
      Answering your questions, rather vaguely but honestly next.

    • @shoonyah
      @shoonyah 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      How do you know that others are concious ?
      ...How can you? As long as the instrument being used to know are your limited sense perception? If that "know" in the question is the body mind trying to know...then the answer is no. If it is the big C identifying the big C then yes. Conciousness recognizes itself. Its the purest, the one and only state ...common to all. The HCF and the LCD of all lifeform. But the dynamic body/mind of each cannot not (fully) even partially claim the same.
      So depending on what is trying to know what...the answer is a no or a yes.
      How do you know others exist like us?
      ... Any reason to not believe that unless proven otherwise or till not indicating lifelessness? Again only mind will ask that question...limited instrument. Big C won't. It will simply know.
      If we believe that the seperation is of mere thoughts else all is One then yes, others also must be existing but peeking at the world sitting in their bubbles and through their filtered glasses. Any interaction, reaction, stimulus_response with that body mind should be sufficent proof of their existence - again to keep the mind satisfied with an answer. C will simply know.

    • @shoonyah
      @shoonyah 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      What if you are dreaming?
      I most certainly am as long as I feel the seperateness. The so called waking state is the biggest trap of the matrix. It is a state of amnesia within which we physically sleep and then dream again....perhaps enter the sub concious mind. In REM we remember the contents, if blankness occurs then perhaps we have entered the minds eye of darkness....deep sleep. Not sure.
      Do you know anything of others other than your own experience of them?
      ..Yes, I once had a concious experience of a bird flying. Too much to describe here but will say...if even for a moment, a state of thoughtlessness exists, it is possible to pierce the body mind complex for a fleeting second and fuse with the universal consciousness... if not more.
      That is my only claim to fame...oneness with a bird 😊 .
      Other states I feel highly connected to ...something powerful is when I look into a baby's eyes ..or anyone's with a stable, happy, overflowing energy for that matter...its pure love, a sort of reflection, something staring back....I cannot describe it.

    The reason the body seems to exist separate from awareness of it is because there are multiple TYPES of things we are aware of. Aware of direct sensations AND aware of a three-dimensional mental map of a body. This makes it seem like there is awareness (of sensations) and an actual body in which they are felt. But the “actual body” is just the knowing of a mental image or picture (thought) of a body corresponding in which we place the sensations. But BOTH are made of knowing.

    The sense of not being the face while the face is moving. The sense of not being thought while it is happening. The sense of not being the finger that moves when it moves. This sense do exist and I know for a fact that it completely dissolves any sense of psychological distress (however frightening it may look on the outside to others) but I have never ever trusted this sense and stayed with it always. The reason for this seems to be because I am afraid of something. Perhaps the idea that what I am doing is deluding myself.
    It’s so different to act from this center of awareness too where everything seems unknown... it’s as if all pretending has been thrown out the window. The sense of trying to be a character in a movie is completely gone.
    I just wished I had the courage to not eventually berate this state and start identifying with body again as I have done over and over again for years. I am really tired of suffering. Why don’t I just trust this simple experience of awareness where all that happens is part of a mystery rather than try to quantity and control everything with a rigorous sense of emotionality.
    Some days forward from now and I will start to berate what it is that I am claiming to be aware of and I’ll become miserable again.
    I am afraid of that it might be a manufactured state and therefor in some sense “false” and “no more true than any other experience” but if it leaves me out of misery then why don’t I just respect that fact and stay there? Regardless of wether it’s a manufactured state or not.
    It’s as if I want to be in misery rather than be unsure of where I should stand intellectually. Because that is what this feels like, it’s a state of not knowing what life/experience is. And out of this unknowingness actions arise.

    When Rupert asks for evidence, I would like to point out, that a person who's born blind cannot think of colors. We can only experience that which we percieve. A human mind is limited, in that it cannot know. It can only believe. I believe, 3D matter does infact exist, just not in the way that we percieve it. Everyone and everything you know is connected to eachother, but only in perception. All of perception is in the mind. Essentially, we are all gods of our own universe. That is to say, life as we know it, is a narrative written by perception.

  • @rezam4672

    Thanks a lot. Very beautiful.
    I had two questions:
    1. If I’m not wrong, in non-dual teaching(s) it is said that - a. Consciousness does not know or experience the suffering because It has no resistance. b. Consciousness is experiencing itself as the world. c. Experience is real and Consciousness is experiencing exactly what we all (as seemingly separate selves) are experiencing.
    If the above is correct, my question is why then we say that Consciousness does not experience the suffering? Isn’t suffering an experience? If Consciousness does not experience the suffering, who then, is experiencing it?
    In the experience, pain and suffering are real. Considering that in all experiences, it is the Consciousness that is experiencing the experience, isn’t it the Consciousness that is experiencing the suffering or paining?
    2. When it is said that there is only seeing, or smelling, or hearing, etc., (for instance, in the experience of smelling a flower and hearing a piece of bad news), the content of the smelling (the smell of the flower) and the content of the hearing (the sad news) are different. Is it the same for the Consciousness when It is experiencing the seeing and the hearing?
    For us (whether we recognize ourselves as Consciousness or not), each experience we are experiencing is completely unique (the content of the experiences are totally different). Is it the same for the Consciousness? E.g. What is the difference between reading a beautiful poem and having a severe headache? Aren’t they different experiences for the Consciousness?

      As I understand, Consciousness (the real you) is observing your (ego self)experiencing process without any judgment. There’s only observing, nothing else. For me it’s the only possible explanation. Of course it’s possible that misunderstanding took place.

    I can’t disregard the material model that easily! After all, matter is what holds us together. Matter is what we evolved from. Thoughts?

      On the contrary, matter is what gives us the illusion that we (as the bodies) are separate from each other. The qualities you attribute to matter actually belong to consciousness.

    Can there be a maker a dreamer of this universe and brings it into a suspended illusory existence from ITS perception/awareness AND IT being suspended (as a dream) we can enter (birth) it and leave it (death). Now while we are here, we experience it through our perception/awareness. In other words, it's in my awareness/mind as an experience. I did NOT create the Universe (dream) but I do create it IN my mind AND in my mind NOT as an object but AS an experience (only) in awareness/perception. And in infinity, there are many universes /realities that can be visited through Cause Effect??

      Namaskaram, this made me laugh as I am in the audience (bottom left). At the time I was deeply miserable as I was relentlessly seeking happiness. From my experience I can tell most people are deeply miserable as everyone is seeking lasting happiness. It's just that most people are keeping themselves occupied just enough not to feel their deep misery. Seeking brought me where I am now. I am joyful, energized and very active. Just felt like replying to this comment. Everyone is seeking, the only question is will you seek unconsciously or consciously.

Body mind world secondary knowing. My paradox is that before I looked in to non duality, I had pre-conceived belief that non duality would be something clever people knew. "The world" i Always wanted to understanding its nature through the belief i was apart from it. This is impossible. Since the nature of I and the world are the same.

    I'm certainly not against Rupert' positive message concerning the dream play but, The position Rupert holds has a big hole, a fundamental error in understanding and recognising the Absolute Truth of What is. Upon years of meditation, honestly looking, observing, and contemplating, it became clear to me, why The Absolute can never be placed on the known side. All rupert' talks clearly indicates why he never truly understood Nisargadatta's statement . "Knowing is fraudulent". The mind of Rupert has clearly misunderstood the Absolute as a self- reflecting consciouness. Knowing or being aware of being aware which implies self consciouness or self awareness. This certainly is not what The Absolute is, being aware of being aware is due to the feature of human mind of it's body form which works much better in human forms than other life forms. The Absolute is certainly not a reflecting consciouness, but prior. This is why the Buddha rejected any Self knowledge formed this way. Nisargadatta made it very clear why the Absolute can never be the knowledge I AM , but prior. "You can only know what you're not, you can only be what you're" Nisargadatta . By no coincidence, lao Tzu made the same statement regarding one's true nature. " you cannot know it, but you can be it". Although rupert does display some intellectual understanding of negation , he hasn't quite understood the 'WHY' . The Absolute never shows up on the known side, it alone is the UNKNOWN , yet IT IS, because, it is the one negating all that can be known. Everything can be talked about even explained but it is The Absolute alone that remains unexplained by its very nature of being the Absolute. The Absolute freedom never was, is, nor will ever be found in the Known, but, by its very nature , the Absolute is free from the known. No rituals, no tantric practices is going to make a single difference concerning the Absolute. All these concepts of practices or activities are only ignorance in form reinfocing the illusory, non- existing entities only for perpetuation . A mind has a million reasons to not let go, but, All knowledge will miserably fail in the end, so why not just let go and just BE.

      @@clckwrk0rng391 The same question was asked to Nisargadatta , his reply " I cannot tell you what I Am, I can only tell you what I Am not". If one were to honestly and sincerely contemplate on the phrase , a clear understanding of the implication can certainly dawn . David bohm had the right idea with his statement concerning the Absolute. He stated " I think what really is ( Absolute) is the UNKNOWN , which appears to be known . if anyone can speak of the Absolute in a positive affirmation, that is exactly what the Absolute is not. That is the true implication underlying the phrases like " WHATEVER you know, cannot be YOU ( Absolute) so, discard it" Nisargadatta. " you cannot know it, you can only be it". Lao Tzu. Everything can be known , spoken and even explained except the Absolute. If it has to be spoken, It can only be spoken in negation.
