    this space-like awareness is simply that what is called "Qualia", which enables the perception of emotions, thoughts and all other perceptions. and yes, one cannot directly percept Qualia, but we nevertheless know that we have it, because otherwise there would be no conscious perceptions. every attemt to perceive Qalia directly, ends in a thought or thoughtimage about it. But that is not Qualia itself, but again just a perception.

    Crystal clear logic, I love it. And we really don't need psychedelia to follow this reasoning. Just a willingness to open our minds and let go of what we have learned about what we are. The space that we are is always there. We overlook it because we are used to focus on objects. If we try to find it by focussing on it or look for it we will not find it. We have to learn to stop focussing on objects to notice what was always there. It is not a mental process, it is the ultimate meditation and it merges mind and heart. Thanks for posting 🙏

    This is an example of a non dual teacher confusing the relative nature of existence and the absolute. Thoughts do come from the head/brain, speak to any neuroscientist or cognitive behaviourist. It also appears in awareness, simultaneously as both. You have to see the two sides of the coin to truly get it. Rupert is simply incorrect here or partially correct.

    EEGs display brain waves, and beta waves correlate with thought. In the absence of thought there’s an absence of beta waves on an EEG; whenever a thought arises beta waves accompany it. Xxxxxxxxxxxxx

    • @nirvonna
      @nirvonna ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vintorez9145 Sounds like a rhetorical question to which you know the answer. I’ll answer anyway. Beta waves indicate the presence of thought; thoughts and beta waves are correlated as I said. They are not the same thing. No. But there would be no beta waves without thought. And there’d be no thought without beta waves.

    Am I right? My expierence and "myself" is the same thing, it isn't seperated ... so awareness needs a physical brain to reflect itself, otherwise it would be nothing or anything at the same "time", but timeless, formless and so on?

    • @edzardpiltz6348

      That's what we all have concluded what we are. The accumulated experiences gave conditioned our mind in such a way that a certain o personally has developed. We have then tied that Persona to a certain bodily from and voila we have you the person.
      If you look at the process above, you can see how that person has always changed and evolved. But a process can not know itself. To see all these changes taking place something permanent, unchanging had to be there to witness it. And that is the real you!😘

      Theory and logic have staying power, while experience comes and goes, particularly a psychedelic experience. That's what I like about Rupert, he uses experience as a means, a tool or a pointer to validate non-dual theory and logic, as well as to remove false belief.

    • @idebok

      I thought so to until I had my first breakthrough. Books and Video is useless If you want to experience non-duality... and it is impossible to explain a LSD trip to someone thats never done LSD.... Acid and meditation can give jo non-duality for a short/long time and if you have experienced non-duality it change you the "I" will not be the same.

    I love Rupert's teaching technique, but occasionally he says something which is not strictly true. In this otherwise excellent teaching, he happens to mention something to the effect that no one has ever seen a thought in a brain. Well, they can. I think Rupert does not grasp that all of science can be true - and nevertheless that doesn't prevent Pure Awareness from being the fundamental basis for everything - because it is a level beyond all of science. Here is a link on seeing thoughts in an MRI: www.popularmechanics.com/science/health/a27102/read-thoughts-with-brain-scan/

    • @mlbrasilia
      @mlbrasilia 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      TheKsturt - wouldn't it be that the image in an MRI is the picture, the representation, of the electro-chemical REACTION in/of the brain to a "thought" that cannot be grasped by thysical tools or mental concepts? That was my spontaneous answer to your good point, and it sounded sufficient to me and compatible with the broader background of Rupert's teachings.

    • @TheKstuart
      @TheKstuart 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Except that Rupert has himself cited - in videos about free-will - the research that shows reactions in the brain BEFORE the conscious thought of the decision. Conscious thoughts are in words of a language. Those languages exist in certain years and not other years (such as 100 million years ago), and certain places and not other places (prior to the Internet anyway :) ), and so they are part of the physical world and the physical brain (injury to the brain can cause someone to lose language).
      So, just because Absolute Consciousness is the basic fundamental foundation of everything, does not mean that "mind" is more fundamental than "body". Consciousness and mind are not the same thing, this is a common fallacy - because thoughts are private. Thoughts are just objects that are known by Consciousness, and they require brains to occur.

    • @VibhutiGaneshG
      @VibhutiGaneshG 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Even we don't need an MRI to establish that thoughts are produce of head (mind and brain. Its just enough to see if any one, (as wise as Rupert) is deprived of body parts, one by one and the thoughts will be there until the head is dissociated,.. this may sound a little rude.. but

    I am completely unmoved. All of this strikes me as extremely egocentric, by that I mean self-centered. This tacit insistence that there is something to the human experience that is foundational to the universe completely shuts the door to the possibility of other kinds of consciousness, some inferior some superior and others entirely alien. His analogies also completely fail. There is always water vapor in the sky regardless of clouds. No surgeon is gonna find a thought in exactly the same way as no engineer is gonna find a program by opening up and looking inside a hard drive. And movies are as so flawed an analogy that I don't even know where to start.

      Have you ever experience a world outside your awareness? Evening mainstream science tell us that all our experience are taking place in our heads (just remember the biology lesson about how seeing works). So your body as well as your mind also only are and appear in your awareness, right?

    I don’t understand what does modulation mean in context of experience as a modulation on consciousness? Consciousness is that in which experience appear, with which it is known and from which it is made. I dont understand the last part “ from which it is made”. Am I understanding it wrong, how can a sensation or an image or sound made of consciousness?

    • @christianstordahl8688
      @christianstordahl8688 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      “Made of” is a relative term. There are stages of understanding. Rupert makes the distinction between awareness and experience, but later collapses it. What is there to experience, other than the knowing of it? Or rather, what is there to experience, other than the experiencing of it? The knower and the known can be collapsed to just pure knowing. Knowing, knowing, knowing. Just as a movie appears to be separate from a TV screen, but actually the movie is inseparable from the tv screen, they are not two separate things. But they also aren’t identical. The screen does not share the same limitations of the movie. And the movie is a “modulation” or “fluctuation” of the screen. The screen being consciousness and the movie being experience. Experience is the “activity” of consciousness. But still, conscious remains unchanged and untouched. Just as a tv screen remains exactly the same, regardless of what the content of a movie is.

    thoughts appear in the head, in the brain, not it the arm or foot, i can locate thoughts in my head, its not a precise point but its 100% the head... with brain scans we can see brain activity in regions of brain when people are thinkig, sleeping, dreaming, all different and same parts, also cut of the leg, the thoughts are there, damage the brain or cut of the head= no toughts, and so on...

    • @CatalinMorosan
      @CatalinMorosan 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      With brain scans you see correlates of thoughts and perceptions, not the actual things in themselves. The map is not the territory.

    • @medwaca
      @medwaca 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We dont actually know, so we can only asume, and that is not valid... but we have certain indications that are prommising to the thesis that thaughts are in the brain, how they exacty work and exist maybe we dont know... also as i said, cut of the head, where is the person, ego, the thunker, and the thought?

    • @CatalinMorosan
      @CatalinMorosan 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The experience of a thought or the experience of the colour red can only be had from your own point of view. When someone scans your brain when you have a thought, they do not "see" your thought but only some images on a display. These are called correlates, similar to how a map is a correlate of the terrain. The map shows a blue line which REPRESENTS the river but there is a huge difference between a blue line on a piece of paper and the actual river.
      So your assertion "thoughts appear in the head" should be changed to "corellates of thought appear in the head". The actual thought is only known in direct experience by the one who is having it. If you want to go deeper, first understand what Rupert and others talk about when they say DIRECT EXPERIENCE.
      If you cut the head, you do not see the correlates of thought any more but you cannot know for sure that the thoughts themselves no longer appear. It's your assumption. Nonetheless, even if thoughts disappear when you have your head cut off, similar thing could be said if your heart is stabbed. Does that mean the thoughts were in the heart?

    • @medwaca
      @medwaca 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Catalin Morosan if you stab the heart that leads to the ,,death,, of the brain, so thoughts are not because of that in the heart, but the stabed hearth leads to cerbral death... i get what youre saying about the river or the map... yes, but let thake a photo of the river, yes, the photo or a video is not the river, its a ,,map,, but it is a kind of a prove of the existence of the river... also you say that the river exists... and we can prove it by looking at it with my own eyes and experience, taking photos from it, messuring the river with instruments and we can say that the river flows on a exact place on this earth and that is not flowing trought your apartmenet or your body... so in that way goes my observation about thoughta in the head, yes we can make only assumptions/collerations, but they have big proves, and validations to it, evidences, like evidences about the exsisting of rivers... yes they are not so clear, and stong, but brain scans, or other scientific methods or evan logical conclusions (like cuting of the head) are very certain prove thst thoughts are in the brain... by the way first person experience is not valid in my opinion, because i can trip, have halucinations, get shizophrenic and experience that i have wings, or even my experience right now, i know it, i see it but that does not know that i know for shure what it is, the tingeling in my ears is a experience, it can be nerve damage, food intolerance, heath, wind, or what not, and it can be proven, but my firat person can only assume, i can say that those are demons in my ears... ok, maybe a bit too much overthunking... my english is bad... i admire rupert the most, but lets stay very critical please and because rupert is the most awesome teacher alive, dont takr everything for granted and for true, please question everything... and another thing, dont explain exact thins, fact, with logical analogy, and that does rupert a lot, flowers grow when sun shines, conclusion flowers grow from sunshine, nooo, flowers grow with photosynthesis from sunshine and from minerals from the earth and from other reasons, logical thinking, and logical conclusions are not FACT, and are not the truth... first person experience is not the only valid method!!!! And analogys!!!!

    • @CatalinMorosan
      @CatalinMorosan 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      What rupert and others are trying to point to does not contradict the scientific method. Imagine this is a dream, a dream that has rules and obeys "laws of nature". When you hit a dream person in the head, the person says "ouch!". Everything seems real and serious. But then you wake up and see that everything and everyone was just you having a dream. Similarly, rupert points to the One who is having this dream right now. Good luck in your explorations.! Be open to the idea that you may be missing something. Cheers! ;)
