Same. I've stuck by him but I don't think i can anymore. Sticking by players like Gaff, Sheed, Luke Edwards etc. Plus I don't know why Simpsom plays these tall forwards in a high half forward role. We need speed and pressure in the front, speed in the backhalf and some speed, strength in the guts.
He is also too conservative in game and doesn't move the magnets around until it's too late.
Plus we have a captain who is a turn over specialist.

Feel like alot of the seniors won't last much longer now simmo has resigned, unless they make some incredible strides in form, it's very likely players like gaff, sheed and darling will be dropped, axed or retire, even the young players will be anyalised in terms of attitude, and form, no one in the list is really safe now the axe has been swung, but that's the rebuild process, it can be brutal but long term it what's best for west coast imo.

If that HTB call had gone against North I would have been pissed off, but Yeo should have been pinged for the high contact on Wardlaw immediately before that, so I figure North got the freekick it was entitled to. I didn't expect us to win the game, but I was pleasantly surprised by the level of commitment by North in the contest, which was levels above anything they've done for a long time. It was an ugly game, but I'll happily take our first win.

Love your work mate! A very tempered outlook with maturity far exceeding alot of your fellow supporters.
Look the Yeo call was correct. AFL even released a statement to clear that up! Yeo had 2 choices to make. Either knock it away towards Ryan or Ginbey OR take possession to dispose of it more effectively. So whilst on his knees in desperation, Yeo dives on it to pull it in and fails to dispose of it because he simply didn't attempt to dispose of it! Right call, bad choice by Yeo and tough circumstances in general.
A positive I thought for WC was more of the decision to put Ryan in the midfield, albiet a little too late of a position change, had it been done sooner I'd have wagered he could of worked out of the tag eventually and had an effect on the game.
All in all it was a real arm wrestle of a game and I for one am really happy my Roo's won. A learning curve for both teams in the end and will no doubt be for the better long term

If Adam Simpson stays, Harley Reid goes. And so do our plans for a proper rebuild.
How anyone can still back Adam Simpson is beyond me. Sure, we looked good for a while there, but it was still touch and go, considering some of our pathetic performances earlier in the season. However, the last 3 games against Adelaide, St Kilda and North Melbourne show that we haven't turned a corner at all and are relying on a 19-year-old kid to get us out of trouble.
We aren't going through an injury crisis and, yet, we are back to being the same bag of garbage as last year. What does it take to convince people that a new senior coach is needed?

Remain convinced that Sheed and Gaff can not play in the same side, both too slow. Sheed is not a tagger and you can’t try and turn him in to one. Harry Edwards isn’t a bad player and is certainly one who will be there in the long run. If we are rebuilding then we need to play the kids more and one of Trew or Hall should have been in for Sheed or Gaff. Too much mixed messaging in selection now, I was happy when Pyke said if it comes down to it play the kid over the veteran.
The other biggest problem I think is that outside Yeo no one wants to play physical on the edge football which has some mongrel. Reid when he is back definitely plays like that and so does Ginbey

@@angel0fdeath667 This is exactly what I have been thinking and saying. Every game Gaff plays is experience taken from a younger player. Look at all the kids, they’re improving game by game. It didn't rain and had been fine at the stadium all the time in morning. If slippery it was poor skills and the surface not getting the winter grass right, due to the hot drought conditions previously (as reported). Eagles selection was about experimenting with forward set up and giving guys games, prior to the return of Oscar which will force guys out. Without Long Brockman, Simmo clearly doesn't rate the other Eagles mid small forward options currently.

Kicking straight would not necessarily have seen a different result.
I am not sure that the Eagles players missed too many kicks at goal that should have been converted. There are maybe two, Sheed on the run from about 25 out, 25 degree angle and Yeo late from 15 meters out close to directly in front. a lot of our other shots where either from distance 40+ or tighter angles 40+.
on the other hand North Melbourne stuffed up at least two should have been certain goals. Someone kicked into the man from 20 out, straight in front, and Stephenson got smothered by Edwards when the Roos outnumbered the defenders.

One could argue that Hall, Burgiel, Dewar aren't ready if they'd like, but it's preferable to the guys who have been letting down the side for 4 or 5 years.

North brought it, with the whole team onfield playing with genuine intensity from the outset and held it for 3 quarters. Got Eagles at their most vulnerable point going into the Eagles' bye. Also Eagles with a few notable outs. North was def up for it and the bye helped the group reset in the right way. Eagles should get the same post bye bump.

It's not just list management why our midfield depth is so bad. SIMPSON doesn't coach the full squad, he only coaches the handful of elite players on the list. He needs to go. We can't keep excusing this for the last 3 years. He needs to take accountability at some point, and if it's not working, then time to go.

I listened to the vision as I refuse to subscribe for something that should be free to air (a whole other issue).
My biggest frustration was why could they not play the game like they did in the 4th, was it North running out of puff or just WC getting their shit together.
I feel that Darling n Ryan need some more confidence n need a couple in the WAFL, would be nice to have a few more young players (8 premiership players in the team against North) however most young AFL level players are injured.
Hopefully we can do better in the 2nd half of the season.

I was at game. I thought the Eagles tried, but were sloppy with ball use around the ground by hand and foot. Not to mention goal kicking. Constantly under pressure moving forward. A top heavy forward line had them constantly going for long kicks to pull a screamer. It was overcrowded and no one who was good enough to rove the crumbs (Brockman Long out). This may have been because they had to work really hard to move the ball forward taking time. No doubt that opposition sides have worked out ball movement, but we're going back to old habits and being forced into a possession game. Eagles midfield was really weak on paper and he didn't obviously rate the WAFL guys. Simmo took the opportunity then to experiment with forward line and see how the tall players can gel. But that made us top heavy. But he was happy to experiment and give guys games, because he knows Oscar Allen will be back soon. He did the same with Jwilliams previous week going top heavy. Then clearly Hedwards needs game time as the other guys will be retiring within 2-3 years. And next year Bazzo when back will need game time. So I saw this as Simmo having an eye on the future and the. EAgles mids lacking the class of North, especially due to Kelly Reid and Hunt being out. Eagles mids have no depth. So having them out was huge with our speed and skill level. Not to mention Brockman and Long. I thought in the end if we'd kicked straight we would have won. So in that respect bad kicking is bad football.

I think Simmo needs to experimenting with some half backs and getting them into the middle too, if we want to win. Otherwise, we're just stacking our defence and that's saving us, but I'd like young guys to get some time to develop down back and get guys going up forward. Could Hough and Duggan helped disposal more in the middle. Could Cole create more defensive pressure at half forward. Why oh why is Jones still being trialled up the ground. He is only a half back. Midfielders normally win games. North's midfield is better and certainly more skilled by hand and foot. Yet despite that, if we kick straight we would have won. North were gone. So we are fit. We looked sloppy and constantly under pressure with players everywhere. No doubt slow ball movement caused by us losing centre clearances and sides working us out. I thought we'd lose to Stk and then Kelly wasn't playing. He is so important and is one of few to show speed and class. Don't rule out Hunt too. His speed and run and carry is vital.

Two of the last three (pick your poison) were easily winnable and we flubbed the lot. A better performance in any of the first three quarters last night would’ve handed us an easy win. The fightback and run of goals was great to see but that effort and pressure is still way too inconsistant. I hope the bye gives our players a good chance to refresh and reset… but I don’t know what we’re going to see from Round 15 onward. We’ve got an odd fixture which either means we are set for more of the same, or we can get some retribution.

If the club wishes to lose all integrity, pretend they're a bottom side for draft picks and play cause they think football is a business, not a passion, I'm not interested in watching and glad I spent Saturday with my son and assuming this was a Sunday game.

Game was lost at selection, Edwards and Hutchinson should never have been picked. Trew, Rotham and Maric to start and jones as sub, game won. Also not sure why we play jones forward when he’s a running back and that’s all.
Gaff and Sheed were better than half the team, not sure why they cop so much. Have a look at the stats, they pulled their weight.

Honestly its a poor midfield. Ginbey and Culley offer defensive pressure. Duggan needed to be in there. Sorry Sheed isn't a tagger, but is a half forward and useful sub/interchange. Ok last quarter. Ryan was poor, but offered a bit in middle in last quarter. Culley tried hard, but really a bench player. Ginbey still a kid really, but he has a turning circle of a tractor and needs to be surrounding with short nippy types. He is a wing half back more... Pity Hewitt isn't there at half forward. Honestly we lacked class, but we really battled hard. Mind you, Flynn may have won hit outs but the team is still working it out. Eagles still experimenting with Flynn BWilliams, though knowing it would be a weakness. Hall and Trew got reported I heard too.

You literally start every video lately bragging like “oh sorry this was a little late, I missed seeing the game live because I was on a boat in Croatia” or a family trip to the US, or I haven’t slept due to stopovers on my amazing holidays. Not tying to have a dig, just some feedback on your content, it’s mostly a travel show at the moment. I’m stoked for you having a hot jaunt with some babe in Croatia, but just keep the smugness to a minimum please 😂

Hmm, I certainly didn't mean to come across smug, I don't feel smug but I suppose it could be taken that way. The deliberate reason I have mentioned my trips was a) I've copped criticism for not reviewing certain games, or being inconsistent and I wanted to pre empt that 2) Literally the last 4 eagles games I've either been in the air when they've happened or somewhere out of reach from footy. I feel like it's been a very necessary clarification to admit I didn't see the game live and annoyingly 2/4 occasions came because flights were delayed. I didn't want to be dishonest and say I'd watched a game that I didn't. I'll cop the feedback and it really never crossed my mind it came across that way - although it might be a moot point now the travel is likely done.
