The more I read about and watch them, two players that could rocket into calculations at our first pick are Cooper Hynes and Hamish Davis. While they'd both be considered somewhat 'bolters' at our pick I wouldn't be upset with either of them (though I'm hoping we can snare Davis with one of our later picks). I think Hynes is criminally underrated
it's great how Victorian draftees make it clear they do not want to play interstate whilst WA draftees are always expected to play in VIC. Lot's of discussion gets done behind the scenes and doesn't get mentioned in the media, Sheezel management came right out & said it. Maybe eagles should collude more with WA talent managers. All VIC clubs do it.
A lot of it is partially due to the vic(mostly metro) players knowing that there is 10 clubs in vic, with at least a couple any year being realistic options for them. The WA and SA kids know that more than likely theyll have to leave WA from a very young age, so theyre mentally prepared.

Jesse if you look back having a great midfield is fantastic but if you don't have a great ruckman to get the ball to the midfielders then doesn't matter how good they are when the Eagles were at there most dominant we had Dean Cox & then Nic Nat since he has retired we have struggled won premierships when Cox & Nic Nat played. Look at the current clubs that have played in the last few premierships Brisbane have The Big O Sydney Grundy, the game of footy starts in the middle
We won our last premiership with vardy and lycett, and Brisbane didn't have the big o in the grand final. U don't need a star ruck, just a competitive one.
whoever gets Taj Hotton will be really happy, easily a top 10 talent but hasn't been able to show it, I think he's in that top 5 mids group in terms of talent

I dont think we need a mid at 12. A guy like Cooper Hynes is a good chance to be there at our 2nd pick and hes just as good a mid as any of the guys in the pick 12 vicinity imo. Better off getting Travaglia or Tauru if theyre there, a rebounidng half back and an intercepting KPD are both urgent needs, arguably more urgent than a mid imo. Travaglia + Hynes with our 2 picks and then trade back in for a later pick to grab Barrat, a KPD from Vic C who plays juniors with Travaglia at Bendigo, same club Harley was at. Would be an insane draft haul imo
Bo Allen is a defender, he did not impress me as a midfielder watching him this year. He doesn't find the footy enough. I think it does seem likely that we will pick Allan though, he is in the range and is so much like Ginbey who also struggled to be damaging and lacked accumulation but was a good athlete. I just think we need to be a bit more imaginative then playing it safe with Allen. Id go Hotton or Reid and bugger the go home factor atleast they are pure accumulating mids which is what we need.

Fantastic assessment as usual, the only problem with discarding players durle to some areas being substandard is there are a bucket load of gun players who were assessed to be the same. A lot of skills are refined while playing at AFL level. 💙💛🦅🏆

@@Jonahboy565 Bailey has done 2 years as a full time ruckman. I admire him because he isn't a massive guy and is more of a forward ruckman but just keeps backing up. He is a little bit inconsistent around the ground actually. He is good overhead and has mobility, but does put in some bad games at times. I reckon we need to develop our young ruckman and it would be handy to have an experienced Tom Hickey type just to help our midfielders in clearances. But getting extra ruckman will mean that our young ruckman won't have game time at AFL or WAFL level. Last year there were 4 guys over 200cm playing for the WAFL team.

I reckon trade our f1 for either pick 8 or 9 and go into the draft with 8/9+12+26. Hopefully we can pick up Travaglia, Lindsey and Hynes/Davis.
Dream draft for me would be travaglia, Lindsay, Hyns, Malakai champion trade into the first round and maybe into the third round to get a key defender

Hey mate - Just spent that spending 12 or 26 this year on an 18 year old ruck probably isn't the go. I do agree we need one, but a mature one.
