Bye It’s almost like Riot already figured out how to make a **free game** have a **functioning** cosmetic system, but decided that their CS clone is going to have the most greedy prices for skins. Riot’s own League of Legends has one of the best cosmetic system and it works, no need to make you spend as much as **4 fully developed AAA titles** for 4 skins which don’t even look that good most of the time. That’s exactly what I just did yesterday. It was my birthday so I said I’m gonna buy a skin, but I don’t see any point of buying anything else because I basically only use that gun.
there needs to be a way to get rid of your old or diliked skins for a variable amount of curency so that as the game grows you are able to buy and "sell" your skins.
They could just make the skins cheap and implement a system where you can enable multiple skins for each gun. Then each round the gun skin is randomized between the ones you have enabled.
@@elijahtan7584 Yes I said this in response to the argument in the video "the skins are expensive because there are few guns, so people buy few skins". If you make it convenient to use multiple skins, people will be more likely to buy more of them, so you can make them cheaper to sell more.
@@Homiloko2 your opinion versus professional statistical analysis in this specific market. If it really would have made more money, then they probably would have tried it by now.
Thank you for this well informed video. Too often do I see people state that its fine because CS Skin are often 3 or 4 figured whilst forgetting about how a stock market works.
The thing is for me its not about being cheap or not wanting to spend money, I have spent probably close to 2000+ dollars on League of Legends I'm no stranger to giving money for useless in game cosmetics. However, the value I perceive on the Valorant skins just isn't there. In league I get a new splash art, custom sounds and effects, voice-lines, animations and often more. I always see this skin and its effects while I'm using it and they are very obvious and everyone else in the game can see them to. In Valorant not only are the prices absurdly higher than anything LoL offers, but they don't have nearly as much work put into them, you get a couple new animations and effects (after you spend more fucking money on them) and only you can see these effects because for gameplay reasons they can't change the sound of guns or the visuals for everyone. This is even when you get to use them, what about an eco round, or picking up a weapon from the ground? The 2nd problem can be fixed by a transform skin button but nothing can be done about an eco round. I would love to buy skins in Valorant but I don't think I'll ever spend a penny on the game because of its obscene pricing model that makes me sick. When ever I see a person with a skin in the game I don't think "oh that's a cool skin" I think to myself "I can't believe you spend nearly 90 bucks on that crap". I get that same judgmental disdain I get for shit heads who wear Yeezys.
It looks amazing but tbh I dont feel its on par with the Prime and Sovereign set as both of these have their own shoot sound and reload effects. While Oni set only has an idle gun animation and ofc a finisher animation
The even worse part is for some reason there are people defending these skins and Thier price by saying it's F2P when other free to play games have skins for much lower price.

People aren't averse to spending money most of the time, especially if they feel like they're supporting a game that supports them. A great example for me is the mobile game "Dragalia Lost" made by Nintendo. It's a gacha style game that has the base currency heavily overpriced but is super generous with giving out free stuff you'd usually have to pay for. Plus they invested into making a good free to play story that you don't have to spend any money to be able to play through and enjoy. I personally know people who've spent a fair amount on the game and have also personally spent ~$30 on pack or two, not because I needed to but because I genuinely like and wanted to support the game. Also a good battlepass that pays for itself makes people more incentiveized to buy it in the first place.
@@willb.7417 If they can make more money by lowering the price then they will. Current price means that it's the most profitable which means a number of people are still buying it. In overwatch history there has only be one skin that you could only get with really money, and the money owned with selling that skin (pink mercy) was for breast cancer research.
yeah but fortnite also has a battle pass that you buy once and you get for the rest of the time you play the game if you complete it, on top of cool skins
7:36 I agree with this guy. Some days ago I buyer the Oni skin for the phantom, not the complete set, just the one for the phantom. Cost me around 14 USD and I'm pretty sure I will not be buying another skin in a long long time. The skins I like (the ones that change the animation) are the ones more expensive, and also I'm kind of regretting my buy because I'm not even that good at the game and it sucks to get killed and get your skin stolen lol
Me: *reads the title* Me: yes Enough said. Why spend money on skins in a free game instead of spending money on a game once and getting free skins? Seems like a better deal to me
Has anyone else noticed how the 7100 valorant points bundles have been losing features. The prime bundle had reload animations, a different shooting sound, and a constant glow effect as well as other effects. The sovereign bundle came out and it lost the unique reload animation but kept the shooting sounds constant glow and the rest of the effects. But now the oni bundle has come out and it doesn’t have the reload animation and it has the vanilla shooting sounds. Why are they the same price if they are worse than the other packs. And what are we gonna lose when the next pack comes out.
If your going to make the skin packs $130 dollars at least have a renewable battle pass. Either have cheap skin packs and unrenewable battle pass or expensive skin pack and renewable battle pass

Bac Jam that is their way of making money. Ur not their son. The game is free and you guys want to have cost lowered is like killing someone’s brother and asking for their parents
Sadking22 games like tf2 csgo and fortnite make money off skins as well. Difference being is either how they sell them or the price they set them at. If I go to a car dealership and ask a dealer if I could get a car for a cheaper price I don't think I'm killing his family
Sadking22 you’re a moron, they are simply seeing how much they can get away with, it’s literally legal robbery at this point. I don’t even own the game and I’m kinda outraged for the players
5:50 is completely the opposite way around, a skin in league could turn out to be the only skin you are going to use, such as a top laner who only plays Darius is willing to pay 30 bucks for a skin he is going to use for the rest of his time playing, or until a better one comes out. while in Valorant you could pay 100 dollars for some skins you may only play with a couple of times pr game.
If you mean total money made, I'm actually not sure that's true. You underestimate whales. Plus every streamer is going to be buying them, which makes players want to have them. Or you pick one up off the ground and it looks really great and you want it more. Plus with the digital currency, it helps mask just how expensive each item is. And ofc every skin/pack is only available rarely, which puts pressure on the player to buy it when it's around, or risk never getting it if they're on the fence. All in all, it's a really manipulative system and just saying the skins run $50+ doesn't show the full picture. If it was a normal store that had those dollar amounts listed and they never rotated, sure, way less people would buy them. But rito knows how to milk people.
the core answer is yes and only buy skins if you have the money for it and i would only buy 1 or maybe 2 for the guns you main, i bought the dragon vandal and upgraded it and got the black version from farming radinite points so it was only 25 dollars and for me that was more the worth it, if your still watching this then it is worth it if you have the money and love the skin enough, full packs are expensive but one or 2 skins really isnt that bad compared to other games
@Ali Hadi Babar It is. but is you care about winning, you would play on the lowest settings for the most frames, this is true even for pros with computers that have price tags in the thousands.
i wouldnt say theyre greedy. they created a free game, free for people to play and u have the choice of spending money on gun/knife skins. they still need to earn a bit more money from people playing the game. so overall i honestly think the items are priced fairly.
I completely agree with you! I just bought the Oni phantom and now I want the prime skins but it may just be better going for the battlepass since nearly no one wants to spend that kind of money. Maybe they are charging us a lot because the devs are working way to hard and need extra cash. Overall gr8 thinking on this one!
Good video with great perspectives from other apparent content creators. I say apparent cause I don’t recognize most I honest don’t play valorant I’ve just heard some things and they weren’t wrong lmao
If Valorant take out Radianite Points and just give you the maxed out version that would be better but if they do they should give people the VP that they spent on Radianite Points back
the major gripe i have with valorant's gun skin compared to something like csgo is that csgo has a broad variety of skins that ranges from great value to insane prices, depending on your taste you can get a cool skin that's decent without spending more than $5-$10, valorant has far less variety and a narrower price range which means even if you want a subtle skin that doesn't change much besides maybe the colors etc you still have to pay similar prices to something flashy
I think one of the reasons that the skins costs so much is that the skins kinda redesign the weapons . I mean put the classic weapon skin for the frenzy rights next to the elderflame one , they are soo different ( and i am talking about the shape and the details ). Now compare this to the skins in cs where its the same exact shape , only the colors are different . Yes the skins are overpriced but the work and effort that is put into them is bigger that the ones put in the cs skins.
I think the bundles are preatty expensive but I don't think it's that much different from any other game. Other games sells skins of single guns at 15-25 £ the decent one and in valorant you can choose the gun you want from the bundle you don't need to buy the whole thing so it doesn't really look that big of a deal . The only thing I don't think is right is to pay more for vfx +finisher+color skin If I buy the bundle I expect to get the full skin with vfx and buy them separately looks like really greedy. Hope at least they will make a discount service in some bundles like in legue where sometimes you get like 40% discount.
not a terrible video but the footage used does not credit the original source (i see Stylosa's name over his footage, just at least put source or mention his name), and also at 7:15 they're talking about hextech chests and he's upgrading his mastery.
Compared to other popular free to play games their highest tier skins cost around $10 more and the their battle pass is half the tiers for the same price.
I think that Valorant should be able to return skins like maybe every week? you get your VP back and then you can send it on some other gun if they want. I think that would be fairer. Maybe even you spend like say 1000 VP on a gun, when you return it, you get 900 VP, for example.
I’ve never understood buying a skin set. Like a full set. I’d much rather buy a couple individual skins for the weapons I use. That way, there’s variety and it’s cheaper. Plus, unless you’re one of the few that main other weapons like ares, marshal, Odin, judge, etc, you only really get value out of 3/7 of the set.
Damn, im very greedy about having skins collection. But thank god i havent buy one and instead always scavange free skins in matches, thx for the videos dude
Now, the one thing we can wonder is that is this model a thing pushed by the game makers themselves or is this a model pushed by Tencent? Tencent has obviously had an impact on this studio, (with the company owning 92.5% of the stock) but I’m wondering how much has the studio starting to make these decisions themselves as they start to become their own thing. However there own thing is still owned by their toxic relationship with Tencent with a majority of their player base in Asia. I just hope that they learn, quickly. Ideally someone would buy out Riot from under Tencent or even have riot separate from Tencent somehow. We can only hope
The games industry is in a very weird place where the whole *beta* games, free to play model is damaging the market as a whole. The big companies target large markets that they can manage through their large legal department while smaller companies and alot of indie games that could out perform the giants in a few years gets left in the dust. The consumer now is entitled to a ''complete'' game without paying anything. A comparison would be a shoes where large companies pretty much give away shoes for free, only to claim a ''runners fee'' for those who really enjoy running. The smaller frontline companies cant do that since they dont have the budget, or reach to such a wide market.

I have every item from all of the battlepasses and like 30 bucks worth of bonus currency after only spending 10 bucks, and I feel like This is a great balance for the devs to make a decent amount of money wile also rewarding gameplay and not having it too expensive

No, no they're not. Cosmetics provide NOTHING but cosmetics, they have no impact on the game. If you don't want to spend that much money, you can enjoy the FREE game and not purchase the PURELY cosmetic SUPLIMENTS to a, need I say it again? FREE GAME. You are not entitled to low cost cosmetics on a free game, it costs money to make and develop a game, and to make it free is a huge risk to the company, so to complain that essentially dlc content that doesn't give anyone an unfair advantage *costs too much* on a free game is just selfish and shortsighted.
Bye
It’s almost like Riot already figured out how to make a **free game** have a **functioning** cosmetic system, but decided that their CS clone is going to have the most greedy prices for skins.
Riot’s own League of Legends has one of the best cosmetic system and it works, no need to make you spend as much as **4 fully developed AAA titles** for 4 skins which don’t even look that good most of the time.
This makes league's skins feel fair. At least you get your complete value for what you're paying for instantly.

Although i do think the prices are pretty steep i feel that wouldnt have been an issue if the game had some form of variety in free skins.
If Valorant take out Radianite Points and just give you the maxed out version that would be better but if they do they should give people the VP that they spent on Radianite Points back
I mean the skins look nice but I ain't paying 100 bucks for like 4 skins half of which I wont even use.
I love the bonework ost in the background
the major gripe i have with valorant's gun skin compared to something like csgo is that csgo has a broad variety of skins that ranges from great value to insane prices, depending on your taste you can get a cool skin that's decent without spending more than $5-$10, valorant has far less variety and a narrower price range which means even if you want a subtle skin that doesn't change much besides maybe the colors etc you still have to pay similar prices to something flashy
Yes the skins are overpriced but the work and effort that is put into them is bigger that the ones put in the cs skins.
buying the entire packs of weapons is stupid, if i’m buying a skin it’s the single skin and for specific guns.
I think the bundles are preatty expensive but I don't think it's that much different from any other game.
Other games sells skins of single guns at 15-25 £ the decent one and in valorant you can choose the gun you want from the bundle you don't need to buy the whole thing so it doesn't really look that big of a deal .
The only thing I don't think is right is to pay more for vfx +finisher+color skin
If I buy the bundle I expect to get the full skin with vfx and buy them separately looks like really greedy.
