One thing I noticed about the last scene that not many seem to be talking about: I think Homelander is deaf in his left ear now. Maeve stabs him directly in the ear during their fight and I think there's lasting damage. When the person throws the thing at Ryan, he's clearly telegraphing the throw by shouting first. Yet, Homelander fails to react until after it lands. It may be me looking too far into the acting, but Homelander also appears to be scanning the crowd like he's not sure where it came from. Just earlier in the episode, he could tell Mallory was using the phone in her pocket, yet now he seems to not be able to catch someone yelling at him? I think the way that scene played out is a low-key indication that Homelander has a weakness now. Also, it's poetically fitting he's be partially deaf, considering what he did to the blind supe in previous seasons.

Yes I think this is setting up A-Train for the final blow. I think he will over load on compound V and run so fast he will phase his fist through HL's chest like what happened when Hughie teleported the first time. They made several references to HL's hearing and to A-Trains selfishness. HL will end up doing something so horrible that A-Train will sacrifices. This would also fit the movie pitch Ashley gave him when he woke up after heart surgery.
They have kept A-Train around for a reason. Also it would be another Captain America (his dead) reference "on your left"
It made it a point to muffle everything after he pulled the rod out and he seemed really disoriented after that so yeah I think he may have issues hearing now. I don't think HL has super healing factors , kinda like Maeve he has really good physical endurance.
I loved how majority of people expected soldierboy to side with homelander only to reveal that he is like his father and saw him as a dissapointment.
I thought it was so funny cause they had me too. I didn’t know where it was going but then I was like of course he wouldn’t respond well to homelander’s neediness and crying.
Him calling him a pussy was just spot on given what we’ve seen lol.
bit corny after Soldier Boy literally showed he was really a pretty sensitive dude like the exact scene before but yeah it overall worked

A cool detail I noticed with A-Train was when Homelander is giving him shit for killing a supe he looks at Noirs helmet as if to say "um your one to talk"
I think the actor who plays A train does such a great job. He’s does a great job with subtlety whether it’s non verbal or verbal.
Soldier boy was the only one thinking logically this whole episode

Noir survived his head getting split in half so I don't know if he is truly dead
I’d say so. You can survive certain head injuries though very unlikely and will permanently damage your Brian. But your guts being ripped out? Nah he dead especially after a day of Homelander not letting anyone help

@@ryanratchford2530 you can survive so much damage to your guts. You can remove most of them and survive. You will have issues but they are very much removable.
And this is a guy who can regenerate body parts. A human can survive partial disembowelment so a supe can definitely do so
@@root_test9493 The thing is though, there's no way of knowing how accurate that depiction it was considering it was shown in an exxagerated cartoon form. Noir obviously got brain damage, and I wouldn't be suprises if he literally had the shield go through his skull, but I doubt it was as much damage as shown.

I also don’t think Black Noir is dead. They didn’t do any kind of memorial video or posters for him like maeve. And vought could’ve easily had blamed his death on Soldier Boy like they did her. So maybe they have his body

show runners confirmed he's dead, but the actor (the guy who actually wears the suit, not the one in the flash back) will be returning. same suit, different character.
Anyone can wear the mask so there is no reason to tell the public about his death
Not to defend Solider boy, but he was also literally held prisoner for like 40 years so it’s not crazy to think he no longer searches for approval admiration fame and love and all that stuff and it would make sense if he became a hardened monster who views anyone with emotions as weak

Hell I’m pretty sure Beau at least watched the whole season 2 months ago but just only ever reviewed each episode as it happened and never gave anything away. I know for a fact I would be reviewing episode 3 and be like “and just wait for later on when this gets explained”
Butcher’s arc was interesting. He gave Soldier Boy shit for questioning whether or not to kill Homelander, but when he had an opportunity to at least incapacitate Homelander and Ryan he choked. Ryan is no more Butcher’s son than Homelander is to Soldier Boy.

No but Ryan is beccas son and he made a promise to her one of the less than handful of people he has ever loved
Butcher can't be there for Ryan as much as Homelander wants to be, and he gives him the love and attention that Ryan craves since he lost his mom, so that's probably why he chose him over Butcher in the end. I'm sure Ryan still has love for Butcher though since he begged Homelander to leave knowing that it would prevent him from harming Butcher.
Ryan is way LESS butchers son than HL is to SB lol. Its literally a blood relation vrs a promise to his wife. Also SBs shield bash almost killed Ryan, the nuclear blast would have vaporized him
The actor for Noir is signed for next season. I think he survives because of Edgar.

I hope he lived but this could be him in flashbacks? With him having his own scenes to explain his past etc. he had a bit of an arc and maybe that was it? Hope not though. I want more of him.

I think he will continue to play the character it will just be a new sup pretending to be noir
Not sure if he's officially signed yet, although the show runner basically confirmed that he would be returning during an interview where he shared a discussion that he had with Nathan Mitchell regarding them killing Noir and he told him that he should let someone else play him in the Nicaragua scenes where he removes his mask so if and when there's a season 4 (season 4 just got the green light a few days ago) and they need to recast the character, he would still have the opportunity to play the role since we've never seen his face on the show. Vought will probably tell the world that Noir isn't dead and just have someone else in his suit. Could be a supe, but also doesn't have to be. They may have several people assume his identity throughout the series, who knows.
Homelander genuinely cares about Ryan. Left himself completely exposed just to check and see if Ryan was ok when soldier boy knocks him against the wall. Homelander is of course a psycho but you could say the same about butcher and I think Ryan is to homelander what Lenny/hughie is to butcher. When Ryan said he wanted to leave the tower and he walks away with him it made me think of the story butchers aunt told about Lenny leading billy away from the kids he was fighting when they were younger. Obviously over time Ryan may be corrupted but for the time being he is a positive influence on homelander
I didn't even think about ryan is HLs lenny. I did think HL walked away not because Ryan said so but because HL seen how bad it hurt Butcher that Ryan chose him.
Ryan will Kill Homelander. Ryan is already stronger than him. Knocked him on his ass. HL couldn't hurt StormFront with his eye lasers, just tickled a bit, and Ryan destroyed her. Homelander needs to convince the boy early that he isn't that powerful or free. HL is ruthless and Ryan is hurting over losing Becca and inexperienced in life, he is stronger but doesn't know how to harness it yet. I bet Butcher will be his mentor in the long run. They have to turn Butcher into a supe to save him.
Anyone else feel like you could of swapped Maeve and Black Noirs scenes and it would of made for a better ending?
Maeve dying unceremoniously by Homelander felt more in line with her passiveness in the narrative, whereas Black noir, being the final member of payback, quite literally getting "Payback" pushing Soldier Boy out the window, and imagine this, Soldier Boy gets one final blast out and it hits Homelander and he's depowered for season 4. Would of been a crazy stretch, and hard to write, but the point is, there's infinite directions the story could go, ang I'm disappointed it went back to the status quo, similarly to how Season 2 ended. The show is such a rollercoaster, but it seems like we end in very similar spots to where we start.
Overall the season is an 8/10
Then ending is a 5/10

I worry this is one of those shows that won’t kill off any of its characters. They have so many fake out deaths it’s starting to get annoying. I really liked a trains arc at the end of hero gasm I wish they had let him die at the end of that episode.
I get what you mean and I agree in general but I think A-Train continues to be one of the best side characters, that scene with his brother this episode was outstanding, and he's been set up to continue an interesting arc next season. I think the better choice would have been for Maeve to truly die. Especially since it seems like she's not coming back for the next season. At that point, it just feels like a contrived happy ending, which is not something I expected the boys to indulge in.
Yep, it turned into generic capeshit and steered way too far from the original comics. No real stakes, we can probably just forget about the goop coming from Hughie's ear as well.

I love how hueys niceness just fundamentally annoys Maeve and when she insults him he has no idea how to come back lol (You can almost see his inner dialogue going, “Im not a twink, but if i were there’d be nothing wrong with that”

I hated how they turned on soldier boy instead of homelander. Soldier boy I just kinda an asshole, not a fascist dictator who thinks he deserves everything like homelander
I think the beauty of the show is that homelander can comfort Ryan about his mom then say that things around us just break and that it’s ok is crazy to me. Like he refers to people as objects that yeah if you mess with them tk much they’ll break and it’s guna be ok… like he shows genuine love and care for him but you know it’s guna be a twisted terrible way that’s going to move Ryan down a very dark path. That ending hit so on the nose that homelander crazy fans would still love him after lasering a guy right in front of them like no big deal.
I'm not sure home lander was referring to Becca I think he was talking about storm front she betrayed him by "leaving" so she became a thing

The Boys can make a CGI octopus Timothy and hamster Jamie sympathetic. So not surprised they hit sympathy for Black Noir out the park! Vought just scraped what was left of Black Noir off the floor and cloned it
The Black Noir situation opens the door to some INTERESTING possibilities. Some possible comic-related possibilities.
Like, if he shows up miraculously healed next season, who’s to say he’ll be the same person under the costume? 🤔

I'm not completely satisfied, it was a very good finale, but not perfect. Meave surviving is a little weird when you think about her arc. The sacrifice feels a bit hollow. It went against the leaks saying she probably would die though, which is interesting. Soldier Boy going back on ice felt a bit luke-warm. The good things about this finale outnumber the negative things by a lot though, so i am satisfied to some degree.
ditto + noir; if noir is dead it would be so disappointing (even if the scene was good). But on the point of Maeve, she would've lost her powers 500 ft in the air and then hit the ground. I think it would've fit her story more to become Maeve Soup splattered all over the block and then all her metal gear is sitting on her guts it undamaged - i think that could've been powerful in a boys way. That visual would show Maeve becoming human and separating from Queen Maeve behind in a gruesome and funny way.
Soldier boys energy bomb is funny. Such a big explosion with a nuke cloud but nothing really happens.i felt as though it should had been an ultimate kill shot with Maeve. But at the same time I think that once someone is hit with the blast it slowly reduces their powers until E. Being charitable I would say that Maeve only survived with the remaining V she had in her system before hitting the ground.
@@solomonlyons10 I think when SB fires it willingly it burns off the V like radiation poisoning kills you in a couple days but when he heard the music playing and fired the blast unwillingly its like a nuclear power plant meltdown/ explosion
Its the first time it's felt like a "normal" comic book ending.
No one really died, the "bad" guy lost, but didn't die. None of the good guys died. The guy with super healing died, but there's no way they write Noir out like that.
It just felt like they had to hold back for the next season.
I just don't understand how Maeve survived, she was literally holding Soldier Boy when the blast went off. This blast basically seems the equivalent of a nuclear bomb, other heroes have been turned into skeletons by it. Soldier Boy literally emits radiation. Maybe Soldier Boy was "powering down" when he knew he wouldn't hit anyone? Maybe Maeve is way stronger when we realise but I don't think we've ever really seen that so just pretty crazy to me that she's alive at all, plot armour I guess

I think that was just cuz it’s Soldier Boy tho. If it was anyone else it would’ve killed them but Soldier boy is strong enough that it knocks him on his ass. That’s how I took it. SB literally took Butcher’s lasers right to the face
Hughie should of taken the temp v which he still has and teleported in he owes soldier boy a hit plus it would of been cool to see him use the shield after failing to lift it
I cannot wait for series 4, it was announced prior to series 3 that Jeffrey Dean Morgan would be appearing in series 4 I’m excited to see what his character will be, given that he was The Comedian in The Watchmen movie I have faith it will be brilliant.
Loved all of it except for there being no well explained reason how Maeve survived that ish.
Same reason kemiko and others survived at a certain soup power level it only takes ur powers not kills you. This has been explained multiple times in the show
@@michaelferrell7924 Surviving the blast is one thing, but they were multiple stories in the sky. The powers being taken just reinforces the fact Maeve should be dead.
@@michaelferrell7924 yes but his normal burst was like a beam of energy, this one was more like a mini supernova and they were 20-30 stories in the air. If it only took her powers she should’ve fell to her death at the very least. The finale felt cheap cause everyone survived (Minus Noir but he may come back)

One possible explanation: once they were out of the window she just had to push off of soldier boy. She would still be caught in the explosion and lose her powers but she wouldn’t have take the blast itself she also would’ve fell out of a building. But if kimiko can be blown through a wall while losing her powers and survive, Meave can survive falling from. Great height
If yall had read the comics you'd know exactly what Edgar is gonna do next. I won't spoil anything but let's just say that the man always has a plan and nothing happens that he doesn't want to have happen

Butcher's eyebeams - amber
HL's eyebeams - light red
Ryan's eyebeams -"flush red"
As we know, in the temperature color spectrum, amber is lukewarm, light red is hot, and red is extremely hot! So just by this analysis, Ryan has the most powerful eyebeams!

Yeah, because Ryan's eyebeam knocked SB clear across the room (he's still a kid) Butcher only heated up his shield, it took HL and Butcher to knock SB through the glass door. That's the way I saw it.

You don’t lose your powers immediately when soldier boy blasts you. Otherwise Kimiko wouldn’t have survived being blown through a wall at all. (she would’ve been pancaked across the wall.)
@@Getwright- it’s a few seconds after at least. And that fall is at least a few seconds, not to add the potential of her getting blasted into the building as she was close to the wall when they found her. I just think this a step down from the normal quality we have come to expect.
Think of it like radiation sickness it kills your body's ability to fight off anything and then kills you a few days later

So nothing really changed and they left the final episode with little resolution ...and back to the status quoe of homelands being in charge and they killed off the fat of the rest of the 7... they cant no longer use temp V again and they back to where they started... mehhh ending was weak sauce ...
I wouldn't call it the status quo. Homelander now literally runs all of vought, has control of the us government by Newman being the VP. His fanatics literally don't care if he lasers someone in the street kn national television and now Ryan's completely went to Homelanders side. That's a complete flip on all fronts from where the last season ended. They can't take temp v anymore and with butcher dying im almost certain they'll have to take the regular V in order to take homelander out. I thought there were be more casualties in the finale but to say its back to the status quo just isn't true.
Finale was such a mixed bag for me, a lot of stuff was rushed, not really feeling earned or satisfying and almost everything ended up in same place as it was in the start of the season...
I dont think thats true about everything being the same at the end. The boys are standing up for themselves a bit more against butcher, maeve is out, soldier boy is under american control, ryan is with homelander, ashley has finally grown a bit of a backbone, A-train now has no one, startlight is out of the seven for good, and the deep is in the seven now, butcher is dying and is finally showing he has a heart. Pretty much every character is in a different place right now than at the beginning of the season. Youre other points i disagree with two but thats your opinion so fair enough but things have changed in the storyline
I like how Twitter freaked out cause Noire possibly died but then completely ignore that the show lies to the public that maeve died….and isn’t and then Vought didn’t say anything about his death….he was the #2/3 of the seven. He’s definitely still alive and I’d bet Stan Edgar is doing something with him. Maybe they being in the storyline that his purpose was till stop homelander. Say they pump him full of V next season.
Or they have a homelander like clone similar to the comics that they try and pass off as being noir. That'd be interesting to see. Especially because homelander would have to know it wasn't the real noir but the public and other supes would have zero idea
But they can literally put anyone in the Noir suit and say it’s him. He doesn’t even have to be a good fighter they can just use him as a mascot
The entire build of the first 2 seasons with them trying to find some possible way to take Homelander down was kind of unnecessary and made no sense now tbh, when Maeve can just beat his ass on her own??? Idk this kinda put a damper on the rest of the entire series, I'm not very scared of Homelander and his eventual snapping anymore.
I dont think homelander really wanted to kill her because he definitely could. He kept trying to dismiss her attacks because she wasn't his concern right then.

I think he still loves Maeve and didn’t want to fight back more just fight her off. He could have killed her so many times even when he imprisoned her. But he didn’t want to. He has a soft spot for her.
Pretty let down with the finale. Felt like a reset because shit was built up too much.
The Deep binge eating @ the end kinda makes me think he may return as “Fat Thor” next season. Maybe not though as Homelander is no joke, and even called A-Train fat, when he’s far from it.
My boy Black Noir deserves better! I hope they keep him alive for the next season
Nior dosnt have a super "healing" factor. Sure, he has above average healing due to the V, but hes not unstoppable or unkillable. He simply feels no pain. I thoguht they were pretty clear with that, I thoght it was pretty clear THAT was why they showed his face being scared up. He almost died from a peanut(almong whatever) but nowhere NOWHERE has it shown he has "super healing abilities" like Kimiko When Kimiko heals, her scars where instantly gone however Nior was shown with very clear skin and brain damage. I think its time for this Nior to exit. His story arch is complete. Hes no longer a "faceless assassin" ala batman (if you live in Batmans universe)... Hes a brain damaged scared kid. They will put someone else in his suit. Probably many "someones" until the season is over. They will probably start dropping niors like flys then just having them show back up in the same suit. All the way down until we get a better version of the clone in the suit (im hoping its a time jumped ryan).
@@spoons250 that’s actually interesting you say they vought would put someone else in black noirs suit. That’d be really cool. You could pick up on it on subtle differences in noirs non verbals. Definitely a lot of setup for next season.
@@spoons250 In an interview with Entertainment Weekly about the episode, Eric Kripke was discussing Black Noir being played by a different actor in the Nicaragua scenes where he had his mask off, and people asking why he wasn't played by Black Noir's main actor, Nathan Mitchell. Apparently that decision came out of a conversation he had with Nathan where he told him, "we're going to kill Noir but he's an easily re-castable character, so if I were you, I would have someone else be the face of Noir, we'll kill that guy off, then if and when there's a season 4 and we have to recast the character......" implying they could just cast him again for the role. So, it sounds like Vought may decide to keep Black Noir alive with another supe in his suit so the public doesn't know that he's dead, which would still give Nathan Mitchell the opportunity to play the character. I don't think Homelander would want Ryan to wear a mask and assume the identity of another supe. The public already knows who he is, so he doesn't have to hide and I'm pretty sure Homelander would want his son to be in the spotlight.
It was so bad. Back to square one. Butcher instead of aimply moving kid to safety attacks soldier boy... dumb...just so dumb.

The finale was trash tbh, they wanted to kill homelander but ended up creating another, I did not buy the bullshit that soldier boy has suddenly become the villain, say what you want about him but he's nowhere near the cruelty of homelander.
I didn't like this episode at all.
Too many unmotivated changes of heart, it felt like all was rushed to restart the plot for S4.
Also the final fight felt very cheap with a poorly made mise en scene...Starlight powering up just to shoot a little beam capable to only knock Soldier Boy off his feet is a perfect metaphore of all this season.
Also Soldier Boy was right when he talked to Butcher.....Butcher's rage and motivation was far more believable in the comic books.
don't know - don't care much about that story with Homelander's boy. Butcher's not the type of guys letting him get in his way. Also, wouldn't Homelander have killed anyone left standing`? Feels a bit forced..

He couldn't be bothered - he felt so ashamed to have been part of such a shit finale that he just walked away with his son.
we cant have homelander kill the main cast after they killed soldier boy because plot armor. but, if we had soldier boy and butcher go with their plan instead of him pulling an 180 they could have avoided writing themselves into a corner, 1. homelander runs away again, and we dont have an ending very similar to last season with stormfront being taken care of in the finale. 2. homelander wins but is too injured/weak so runs. 3. homelander makes a deal with butcher. Also as cool as it was seeing homelander blast a dudes brains out in the public for once, i think we should have seen a split reaction. some fans/citizens should have screamed and ran, while others applaud. the fact that literally everybody applauds suspended my disbelief.
I think they blew their load in ep 6, no pun intended. The fight was so underwhelming, we're dealing with super beings for God's sake. Vought tower should have been left looking like swiss cheese after all of them fighting in there. There's no reason Maeve should have lived through that blast, she got her few good licks on Homelander and that was good enough for her character. I loved this season but man what a disappointment this episode was. Still excited for s4, I just hope they get a better fight choreographer because all the cutting away from supes fighting takes away from the impact and weight those punches should have.

I think the fights where fine. The choreography was great. You felt the weight of the punches interesting twists. Maeve survived cause she deserved a happy ending. She was the second strongest after homelander that’s why she lived. Soldier boy haveing the ability to kill homelander outright was always a question mark. At a certain power level like kemiko you just get ur power zapped then ya know a bullet wins. I do agree they over edited the fight scenes, that’s a chronic Hollywood problem. But Maeve living is totally viable. As for vought tower it did get fucked by soldier boys explosion.
@@michaelferrell7924 making a character live because they deserve it is not good. the thing that made the boys stand out from other shows is the fact that it was a more realistic take and showed that the actions of these supes leads to death and consequences. a character getting tons of death flags and literally jumps into soldier boys explosion lives is not good writing. And the fact that ashley deleted that video of them taking maeve was another out of character moment, we just saw a scene of her terrified of what hiding a secret to homelander does, and then we see her do something behind homelanders back? the character that was the most loyal to homelander in these 3 seasons? nah fam.
anybody just getting more and more dissappointed by Starlight's weak ass superpowers? She supercharged herself and did a lil light blast at soldier boy...which did no damage to him.

The ending doesn’t make sense.
Put yourself in that world, you have believed homelander is good your whole life. He goes on Tv and exposes vaught, says the media is lying and the rich control him. Now, if you’re a fan and supporter you’re really enthused. Homelander is a beacon of truth and justice in your eyes.
So now you’re at a rally. Someone throws something at his son and calls him a fascist and he kills them right in front of your eyes. Why would you cheer? Your values haven’t changed, you’ve been manipulated.

It's already been stated that he was, as a young boy, "quite sweet" - probably similar to Ryan. His upbringing was so twisted it took that decent nature and turned it against itself - against anything good.
Whatever is left of this good nature finds expression in how he behaves around Ryan.

Its also lazy plot and character writing how Black Noir betrayed Soldier Boy cuz he was an asshole to the superhero team but then chooses to be best friends with his son, Homelander, who is also an asshole to the superhero team.

Soldier Boy may have reprimanded Homelander to try to distance himself from him to show honour and making it easier to go through with his deal with Butcher. Who knows, that's just another way to see it.

I wish they’d stop with the fake-out deaths and actually kill main characters. I think an A-train, Maeve, or Ashley death could have hit pretty hard. Maybe starlight dies and it drives Huey insane and he takes permanent V. The finale was good but I wanted more to go down.

In my honest opinion, the finale had major GOT rushed story syndrome. It didnt marinate the character moments well enough for the pay off, like the fights and all were good, but I found myself not caring as much as I wanted because the motivations and arc felt abrupt when they pivoted. Butcher and Maeve motivation's were just on a swivel for the sake of the payoff. Plus I am sorry, but the Starlight big moment just to slightly nudge SB was a very ridiculous girl power moment that GOT overdid alot.
Also the politics of demonizing conservatives as nazis doesn't sit right with me.
The thing that doesnt convince me about starlight is the way how they make her "genuinly good". Did we forget about that terrible scene from season 2 when she murdered a man while hijacking his car?

Supers have survived Soliderboys blasts Before. They just lost their powers so Maeves ending makes sense
She lost her powers halfway through falling she should’ve lost her powers mid fall and died but I’m fine with the ending
Kimiko survived one at point blank range and shes not super tough she just has super strength speed and healing. She definitely not bulletproof like Meave

Butcher is my boy but my goodness I felt just like Soldier Boy in this episode, "Such A Disappointment"....Butcher was just n the Way!
Personally I found the ending to be a 4/10. It could had been way more exciting. MM was great, Hugh was great. Butcher/Maeve stopping soldier boy was annoying. I feel as though it would had been perfect if Soldier boy did his energy bomb in the tower and Hugh teleported (for the last time) to save starlight, MM, and the rest of the gang (like in a hug circle). Butcher, homelander, Ryan, Maeve being stuck in the blast. Also was hoping for A train to finally do something with his upgrade but nope..
I really like what they did with Soldier Boy. His energy blast is nearly instantaneous, except when it would actually influence the story in a real way, for example by disabling a main character supe's powers. Also Novichok is shown to completely knock him out on seconds, but I guess it doesn't work if he really doesn't want to go back into the box, because that's how nerve agents work.
A Train should have died in episode 6, felt like a perfect ending for him.
I don't dislike that they changed who the base genome they used for Homelander is. But I feel keeping it as Stormfront would've brought Homelanders Oedipus complex full circle, granted that could still be the case. It normally takes two, and Homelander can fly, granted lightning manipulation doesn't exactly translate to heat vision. But it makes more sense than Soldier Boy, he was just strong. Couldn't/can't fly. He has no form of energy manipulation, other than the chest nuke the Russians gave him. But Stormfront, her strength was on par with Homelander, she could fly and could manipulate lightning/heat energy. Basically everything Homie could do with a slightly spicier flavor. She is a "real firecracker" after all.
I do think a reveal of Stormfront being his mum is not beyond them, I mean they are OK with graphic beastiality whats a little incest gunna hurt lol. At least they are both human.

Kamiko the heart of the season??? Wow, man we both watched the same show and got 2 completely different vibes.
This finale felt a bit lukewarm for me because no character arcs really concluded. Definitely lots of major progression for lots of characters, but nothing was wrapped up at all so it didn't really feel like a finale, more like just another episode. In the grand scheme of things we're mostly where we were at the start of the season, Homelander still on the loose, Soldier Boy back frozen again, the boys are together again. Obviously stuff has progressed, like Ryan now being with Homelander, Butcher being terminally ill, Starlight is now part of the boys (although she pretty much always was anyway since season 2).
For a finale it just didn't feel very conclusive at all, but hopefully it will just make season 4 even sweeter. Overall an amazing season of course.

When you think of the Boys, who's the first character that comes to your mind? It's most likely Billy Butcher. Black Noir is a niche characer, which means his plot armour is incredibly weak. He should've gotten himself a better contract.
Black Noir isn’t as tough as a V’d up Butcher. Hes not as tough as Soldier Boy or probably Maeve.

A big part of S4 will be if Ryan influences Homelander or the other way around. They're both needy for love so I expect there'll be some back and forth but at the end of the day Homelander has all the power.
Whether or not Homelander would sacrifice himself for Ryan I think would depend on which man in the mirror was more salient at the time. I think it's more likely that Ryan will get killed and that is what finally sets Homelander off which would be interesting for audiences because that drive to end everything after losing a child would be somewhat relatable.
I'm sorry, but this finale was really f--ing dumb. I know that this isn't the the first season of dbz and nobody cares about power levels anymore but some internal consistency is needed. Also killing black noir of this early seems like a mistake, I know he has healing factor but so do a bunch of characters and they didn't do anything with stromfront this season. So he might as well be dead

It's funny DBZ came to mind when I realized Homelander is going to get away with it again. Guess we have to find out what happens next time, except I'm half out the door now. The show was always great because it was moving at breakneck speed and not afraid to pull its punches. This finale seemed like they pussied out.

I felt genuine sympathy for Homelander when Soldier Boy rejected him. Homelander is definitely evil but that doesn't mean he's incapable of feeling love for his son. It speaks to Anthony Starr's talent that the audience can loathe his character 99.9% of the time but he can still be sympathetic in certain moments.
A-Train beat up Kimiko in the first season in the subway. Could’ve probably finished her off too if Frenchie didn’t jump in.
Man, i hated the last episode. The climax felt so unearned and the character writing in regards to Soldierboy, so out of place. The way he dealt with Homelander being his kid made this plotpoint irrelevant, like it was just for shock value. Also, Blacknoir's ending... such wasted potential
The season was my favorite aside from the ending which makes everything sounds like filler. Like compare this climax to the one in stranger things
See here is what I think. The obvious route to go was "soldier boy can't bring himself to kill his own blood and he teams up with homelander and Ryan once he arrives" but it seems they A, wanted to subvert expectations and B, couldn't figure our how the boys would deal with the two mega powers combined and keep everyone alive
So then we get the swerve, which like every "subvert expectations just to subvert expectations" situation, ruins the story and feels unearned. That and I'm sure greedy Amazon wants to milk this show and they don't want any big names killed off yet
Overall I'm really disappointed, because just like SB said to Billy the writers blinked when they were about to pull the trigger
Yeah very underwhelming. Noir dying without even seeing Soldier Boy, Butcher simply changing his fucking mind when Soldier Boy power would just take Ryan’s power, Homelander was amazing like always even if he was literally going to let himself get killed, Maeve fucking surviving even if the blast was on air which means that she felt from that height powerless and very hurt and still survived. Was good, but underwhelming.
@@Captain_Insano_nomercy the problem is we barely saw any conflict within Soldierboy, and if there was something meaningful for him to gain for siding with Butcher until the end... but there wasn't. There were no stakes as Butcher shouldn't mean anything for him, meanwhile Homelander is everything he could've wanted in that moment, a family (and Homelandr killed Black Noir kinda for him)... There's a way to subvert expectations and the way the series turned out just felt rushed and poorly written.
The truth is they needed a bad guy to be defeated so the season wouldn't be 'anticlimatic' and it couldn't be Homelander as he cannot die (for commercial and narrative reasons) and they can't risk turning him into a less threatening villain by losing to the boys again, so they just said "fuck it, we gotta end this shit already" and they did it the easier way they could've thought to even if it makes no sense within the story

I was scared for every character in that room I want Homelander because he's such a good character and his actor Anthony Starr is awesome, I want the Boys and Maeve and Starlight to pull through because they're the heroes and just really vital to the story Ryan is key to changing the fate of several characters from the comic books, and soldier boy is played by such a good actor despite being the absolute worst person he's a good villain and a real threat. Glad none of them died yet. Also I wonder if they'll be a Homelander clone introduced at some point like the comics or since Black Noir isn't a Homelander clone make him someone else

I think if it came down to it, homelander would sacrifice himself for Ryan. Only reason I think that is when Soldier Boy hits ryan, Homelander goes right to him, back turned to Soldier boy while he’s doin his power up thing. Only thing that stops him is Butcher.
Ryan is the key to taking down Homelander. Sooner or later he will betray him and see him for what he is. It might take a season or two but Ryan will take him down
I’m proud of Hughie, Frenchie, and Kimiko. Sad that Butcher pushed Ryan so far away that he felt like Homelander was the only dad figure he could have.

What happened to this program? Specifically episode 8 was especially disappointing. Maeve and Soldier Boy survive? Why? Very reminiscent of the Glenn’s death in The Walking Dead. It appears that this series ‘ writing is bowing to fan service.
The writing on this show is unbelievably good. It's always surprising and immensely satisfying.
A-Train also beat the crap out of Kamiko in season 1 very easily. I think he is genuinely a very strong supe. The 7 should really have the best so the odd ones out are Starlight and Deep imo.

I actually think both Homelander and Soldier Boy were very aware of how similar they are, it just had opposite effects.
Homelander is a severe narcissist, he loves himself more than anything in the world. So when he sees more of himself in Soldier Boy and Ryan he desperately wants them to love him like he loves himself. On the other hand Soldier Boy was bullied by his father his entire life and never once felt good enough, he hates himself. So when he sees more of himself in Homelander he wants nothing to do with it.
When Soldier Boy calls Homelander a weak p****y, Homelander replies "Weak? I'm you." To which Soldier Boy replies "I know, you're a f*cking disappointment."
Maeve could come back, after what she and butcher did, she could be pregnant

I didn't like it. Going through that whole season just for Butcher to stop Soldier boy at the last minute after all that because Ryan was there... really? They all turn on soldier boy? Maeve literally exploding and being just fine. Girls get it done I suppose? And the ending.. It had so much potential and it took the safe easy way out by devolving into woke nonsense. I dare any show, for once, to stop portraying certain sections of the community as violent maniacs because of how easy it is to vilify them, or because they know there won't be any backlash. It's very safe. Meanwhile portraying the other side as the ones who are the kind safe peaceful types. I realize amazon would never go for it but this show never shy'd away from portraying what really goes on behind the scenes. I don't know.

I honestly thought Homelander found his new family. After that last fight and everyone teamed up to fight Soldier Boy.
Homelander is terrifying because of his humanity I knew someone exactly like him (without super powers) but yeah. All that arrogance is the simmering surface of boiling insecurity.
Nior dosnt have a super "healing" factor. Sure, he has above average healing due to the V, but hes not unstoppable or unkillable. He simply feels no pain. I thoguht they were pretty clear with that, I thoght it was pretty clear THAT was why they showed his face being scared up. He almost died from a peanut(almong whatever) but nowhere NOWHERE has it shown he has "super healing abilities" like Kimiko When Kimiko heals, her scars where instantly gone however Nior was shown with very clear skin and brain damage. I think its time for this Nior to exit. His story arch is complete. Hes no longer a "facelss assassin" ala batman (if you live in Batmans universe)... Hes a brain damaged scared kid.

Homelander IS the Superman in the Boys’ universe. Not because he has a similar power set, or the same empathy and overall being good, but because, deep down, he is the most human of all the super humans.
Just as Superman is an example of hope and a shining beacon of what humanity could become, Homelander is also an example of what humanity could become, just a different kind of example. Embracing opposite aspects of humanity, but still human.
