Honestly if Starlight's powered up blast just sent Soldier Boy through a wall, or temporarily disoriented/blinded him, I would have no issue with that scene. It was kind of a let down that this huge blast is equivalent to a punch from Butcher.
Jensen Ackles turned in a statue worthy performance. He stole the show. A comedic character with a ruthless and villainous edge and it was perfectly played by Jensen.
Loved the season, but was a little let down by the ending. The season built up Soldier Boy vs Homelander, but in the end, Soldier Boy was mainly fighting Starlight and Butcher while Homelander was fighting Maeve. All that resulted in Homelander calmly flying off with Ryan and Soldier Boy being put back to sleep. (That being said, I did love the moments before the fighting began, when Soldier Boy called Homelander weak)
Starlight did one thing and she was done. Even though I love Maeve, I wish she didn't fight Homelander and let the Homelander vs Soldier Boy rematch continue
So basically.. Boys got temp v then had to stop using temp v Soldier boy was woken up then put back to sleep Kimiko lost her powers then got her powers back Homelander managed to walk away again Noir got the courage to confront his demons then died without having the chance Ryan the sympathetic kid is suddenly smiling at some dude getting his head blown off? I loved this season but damn that was a massive let down of a finale. Incredible build up wasted. I love this series but I'm scared they're showing signs of going for quantity over quality. Hopefully I'm wrong about that though! I'll still be tuning in for season 4
Yea and then Maeve didn't die which made her sacrifice seem less and all in all it kinda seemed like not too much happened and then some of the stuff that did happen didn't matter in the end. I think the montage bit at the end showed they had a few too many threads they needed to quickly tie up and didn't know how else to do so. Also they did Starlight dirty getting her all amped up and god mode only to give Soldier boy a slight knock back.
It was an interesting scene because he’s just repeating what his father said and the cycle of violence continues but if he had stopped and not want to kill Homeland that would’ve been even worse
He didn't see through Homelander. One of my favourite things about this show is how well the writing staff understands mental illness and psychological abuse. The way he spoke to Homelander in that room was meant to reference the cycle of childhood abuse and neglect - Soldier Boy had earlier told Butcher about how his father always devalued him and made him feel like less of a man and never enough. And, Soldier Boy, after recently finding out he's Homelander's biological father, becomes unsure of how he should handle the situation. Ultimately, he sees Homelander in a vulnerable state with Ryan and decides to uphold his end of the bargain with Butcher as a true soldier would. Of course, at the cost of echoing his late fathers words.
@@OfficialOsarcMusic there’s only one issue with your statement it was said soldier boy was never an actual soldier ….. it was pure propaganda… he never been in combat except for what we know is Nicaragua
@@OfficialOsarcMusic honestly that's some TV show psychology and that's what it felt like. It wasn't believable at all that soldier boy would put his deal with Butcher over his own son. When he turned on Homelander it just took me right out of the show due to how ridiculous it was. I think they just contrived that because they didn't want to have to find a way for everyone to survive a HL/SB team up.
@@bobgunter9608 Wrong. Soldier Boy called him a disappointment not because that's what his father told him and he's taking it out on him, but because Homelander is just like him. An insecure piece of shit that no one loves.
I think overall the season was amazing but the fact no one dies in the final fight is super disappointing to me. Feels like there was no stakes and we’re back where we started (before SB was around).
Why is everybody fixated on someone dying? No one needs to die, the story just has to make sense. I think that death of a character is a cheap trick to get audience involved. The problem is not that nobody dies, but that the characters accomplish nothing and start from level 0, or in case of butcher level-1(im gonna die and don't give a fuck even more than before)
it felt forced, just looking at Maeve in this episode, she obviously goes for self-sacrifice, so in such a way writers want to honour the character, but somehow she survived Soldierboy explosion and falling from a skyscraper, feels like the show wanted to sit on two chairs at one time, and that is not what you expect from a series like this. And i'm worried if the show won't go to far and milk that "we are going to kill Homelander but in the end something goes wrong" plan too much, because apparently Anthony Starr is the star of the show, and surely they don't want to kill off his character even in next season. "Herogasm" was a great example of the elevation of the stakes and development, i hope they'll try to keep going like this
the issue with season 3 isn’t exactly that no one died- its the fact it feels pointless…. like you could literally watch season 2 then jump to 4 and in all honesty, not miss anything important other than the fact the boy is with Homelander now. Also we got a super who… is on the super team… but we never really got to see him fight at all, and is just dead now. The BIGGEST issue imo with this season is it keeps going back to focusing on this weird dumb “i trusted you, you lied to me” blah blah said character. and ultimately it ruins the character… because at the end of the day everyone knows a company is developing supers to possibly take over the world- and yet every episode we have to see the love couple complaining about each other. which just drags the show on to be a drama fest and not focus on itself, much like the walking dead and flash. it just keeps dragging on and no one learns that the stakes at much higher than your own personal agenda, people are gonna need to do some dark stuff if its reasonable enough to get what needed to be done.
I was team Soldier Boy all the way. He was the only one with common sense. The Boys ruined there only chance to kill Homelander and only created another. Every person Homelander kills from this point is on them.
Crazy how Butcher fucked this up SO hard that even Soldier Boy looks like the sane one And his communication skills didn't help either, he should've said that Ryan was the byproduct of Homelander abusing his wife, not "his wife's son" 💀💀
Nah fam he was basically just as bad as homelander him being gone is a good thing. They took out soldier boy without homelander they can take out homelander without soldierboy.
Not really. If you use common sense there are several possible ways to kill homelander. One is Ryan, which you would need to sacrifice to kill homey. So common sense: If the tools to turn an adult human into a supe are available the technology to reverse the process should be there too. I mean even the Russians could modify soldier boy to do just that. So the technology is already there.
My favourite dialogue was when Soldier Boy tells Homelander: "You r exactly like me. A fucking disapointment." That hit really hard for me after the Butcher scene in the early episode
uhhh, he didn't mean he was a dissapointment too that's a massive misconception on your part. he said the same thing as his dad to him. that's it. he believed homelander was being a weak man and told him that, solider boy didnt think himself was a dissapointment at all .. frankly the opposite i'd actually suggest rewatching.
@@kieranb7747 are you sure because he was pretty emotional saying that. He might have saw a even weaker version of himself in Homelander. Soldier Boy is alway high so he could be doing drugs to quell all his self loathing. He seems to dish all his pain out on others that is why everyone hates him just like everyone hates homelander. There is only room for one self hating Narcissistic unstoppable Supe according to Soldier Boy.
God this is such a frustrating ending. The quality and character development are superb, but ultimately this season went nowhere. Noir is dead, Maeve is powerless, Starlight's powers are confirmed to suck ass, Soldier Boy is locked up again, Homelander is unstoppable now, Ryan sides with him, Victoria is more political powerful. Where is the progression? This was not satisfying at all, as these plot decisions were made solely to drag the show for more seasons.
I'm confused if they'll be playing on supes joining the US military plot again of season-1 that Homelander aspired for? He doesn't seem to care anymore, if anything he's embracing the whole Godhood scenario he has.
Soilder boy / Black noir confrontation should have been an amazing climax to the season, Butcher just giving up on Homelander was just bad writing, and Metal makes Homelander bleed apparently, now he’s just a regular Sup
huh??? Where's the progression? I mean if you want the show to be 4 seasons long, fine, but I think a lot happened this season in character development and setting up biggee things next season. Vought has been stripped, The Seven is completely wrecked, the Boys are less willing to follow Butchers every whim, Ryan likes Homelander, HeadPop lady is gonna be Vice President, and im sure i missed some other major plot points. But this season was absolutely primarily about character development.
Okay so Ryan was in SB’s range of fire, Butcher could’ve easily told him to back off and try to relocate Homelander somewhere else instead of treating SB as bigger threat than Homelander. Great job boys, now the head popper become a president and Homelander has more balls to kill people along with his son
This is exactly what I said…butcher, this the kid out the window or something why did you have to turn the whole fight around; as soldier boy is talking to him he says “so this is it, you’re taking his side?” (Or something of that matter) he just could have emphasized that Ryan can’t get hurt. I mean SB could have literally said that he wants Ryan dead too because maybe he will turn just like homelander and boom it would have made more sense but him being collateral is what They chose to go with.
Yea It felt like an unearned priority flip. Suddenly he doesn't care about killing homelander because SB, who he knew was reckless, was being reckless with Beccas child.
@@margaret9314 This is a great idea that they should've taken advantage of. Hughie could've taken the sacrifice to be there for Butcher, by saving his son.
Homelander is the only character on tv in a very long time that makes me feel nervous, anxious and on the edge of my seat because the way his face conveys every emotion on a sort period of a scene is incredible and you don't know wtf he's going to do !
@@SuperMurray2009 I liked how they showed him being literally invulnerable first season to now getting nose bleeds and wounds. If all Maeve had to do to be able to go "toe to toe" with him was to do a few pushups why didn't she a long time ago?
I lost it TBH when the team thought soldier boy was a bigger threat than homelander, which makes sense for the future of the show because homelander provides far better entertainment, but it makes no fkin sense to let him live over soldier boy. Soldier boy is less unhinged and doesn't have flying powers, and the show LITERALLY TELLS YOU that there is a gas to neutralize him. You would've needed 1 person with a brain in the room to come up with the idea: "Yo I know you guys want revenge on Soldier Boy and to save everyone in the Vaught building, but we have the gas to neutralize him, on the other hand, Homelander we have only Soldier Boy to take him out, he can escape anytime with his flying ability and doesn't mind murdering EVERYONE if things go south for him. Maybe let's kill off Homelander and then I PROMISE, MM, WE WILL GET REVENGE ON SOLDIER BOY." It just takes you out so hard because the only thing I'm gonna be thinking the next time Homelander kills someone, it's on them (the boys)...
THANK YOU!!! This was the main reason why I didn't love this season as much as the other two seasons. I never saw SB as a bigger threat than HL who already got people backing him up. I believe this show didn't really show why SB was worse than HL. You're right EVER death by HL from here on out it's The Boy's fault.
@@jamespaul6315 Yeah MM's dad in the comics *SPOILER* gets killed by Vaught i think cause he was exposing superheroes . So it will probably be dwelved into in the future
That Ryan changed everything. Butcher had to stop soldier boy to save ryan. Homelander made master move bringing ryan in the middle of discussion. Homelander knows that if solder boy accepts to be part of family then together they can kill butcher...but if solder boy rejects the family offer then ryan can help homelander to get butchers support to take on soldier boy. In either of the case one of his enemy will die/eliminated for sure. 🤷♂️
So.. can somebody explain to me how the fuck Maeve is still alive? I thought the whole point of Soldier Boys blast is that it strips away your Superhereo powers. How did she survive the fall, let alone the explosion?! Felt like a really forced plotarmor, so Maeve can have her "happy end" with potential for future cameos.
I enjoyed the ending...until I saw this comment. Really shifts the focus of the ending...Thank you for ruining my happy ending :D Your point is absolutely true. She should be dead...if not for plot armor!
Kikimo survived his blast as well. I didn’t put too much into it, they had survived most of the fall while still having powers. Just a little fall powerless at the end.
I honestly think it was to avoid being accused of the bury the lesbian trope. The story isn't really broken by her never being seen again so it's ok for her to have a happy ending.
Personally I disagree, I honestly felt this episode was the weakest of the season, hell maybe weakest of the series as a whole. Hugie was given the most shit even though everyone else did worse actions/ decisions made. The biggest tell was kimikos constant self reflection of becoming a monster for her to only do that and even to a point become reckless where Frenchie got shot. I also felt Homelanders discovery of Ryan's location to be rushed and even Ryan's turn to home lander to soon. It's almost like his mother which he loved the most despised this person (homelander) and for him to trust him felt rushed. Black noir was wasted. Idk honestly this was a disappointment for me.
Agreed, everyone is stupid, and things just happen 'cause the plot demands it. They did Noir dirty, and the real world politics analogy at the end was hamfisted.
100% a disappointment. Frenchie getting shot because Kimiko was dancing was so dumb. Black noir just dying was so bad as well. The big fight was a bit cheesy as well, the shot were Homelander is gauging Maeves eyes felt soo fake. Idk, i was hoping for a better ending.
For me this was a really good episode until the ending. My biggest fear was that there’d be no consequence at the end of this season in order to stretch the show to as many seasons as possible… and that’s exactly what happened. The two slow-mo parts in the big fight were cringe, and having Maeve/Soldier Boy surviving was a rare moment this season where the show lacked balls. Season 4 definitely won’t be the last so I really hope season 5 will be, because I fear this show will drag more than it needs to. In order for the story to remain compelling it has to finish at season 4 or 5
It’s weird because when hanging out with Butcher and Hughie he was super sympathetic for the most part, while in the comic flashback he’s portrayed to be even worse than homelander.
@@ThatGuy-zt6po She probably wants to figure out how he can create energy blasts that erase superpowers; it might potentially result in the creation of an anti-serum to erase compound V.

Seriously.. I was like "Well, not much happened in the end. At least Black Noir and Maeve di.... Wait.. How the fuck is Maeve still alive?!" The writing of this episode was just atrocious at times.
Komiko says she wants to protect people she loves that's why she chose to get her powers, but she's standing there dancing whilst the guards have their rifles pointed at her and frenche - who doesn't even have powers lol. Wtf was that?!
Butcher switching sides just made me mad. Soldier Boy made a great point about Homelander being right by them and having the chance to kill him. Also Starlight, the charge up was completely useless oh my god.
My guess is that butcher believed soldier boy would kill Ryan too. Ryan blasted soldier boy and he has killed people over less. Ultimately protecting Rebecca's son meant more to him than his revenge. That's my guess with that twist
yeah it was kinda dumb homelander has easily killed way more than the people in the tower an he is gonna kill more so the boys trying to save those people is pointless imo but butcher was just trying to save ryan so it makes sense for him
I love the fact TEMP V and the blue one are worth millions but any nobody can get it from a fridge. I would not be suprised if theres sandwich and bottle of Stella Artois in the same fridge.
To be fair, the company is falling apart thanks to Homelander's actions among other things; it does make sense that security's nowhere near as tight as it once was.
Don't you remember in the previous season how the fire dude got Hewie in from a back door and all the way to the main room? The security of that building is laughable. Or maybe the writing is lazy. Either one.
Overall I was severely let down by this finale. All of the episodes up to this just seemed way better by comparison. I mean , how do you top Herogasm? Nothing gets resolved, no one of any consequence dies, and there are so many plot holes it kills me. My biggest issues: 1. We see little to nothing about Ryan (character development) all season and now he's the reason the big end fight scene goes haywire? 2. Maeve, Maeve, Maeve............first off HL takes on SB, Butcher, and Hughie and all he gets is a bruise........But Maeve gives him one good punch and his nose is bleeding? and how is she alive? She hugged a nuclear explosion, lost her powers, and fell like 50 stories but nah she's fine. Her death could have been a significant moment but they let her live and gave her a fairy tale ending. 3. What was the point of frenchie getting shot? Did it add anything to the story? no. Was he severely crippled afterwards making Kimiko think about her actions? no. So why even add it? 4. Starlight is actually useless..............all of that powering up (goku style) and she barely manages to push SB back.........Butcher said it right, pretty shite powers. 5. After some decent development in the last couple of episodes, Noir is killed with no resolution to his conflict with SB.
ya, this season was really good but the weakest finale of all seasons. I forget who said it (maybe john campea), but they put all their money into Herogasm, when they should of put more of it in the finale. They nerfed a lot of supes here (Homelander, Black Noir, Starlight and possibly SB?).
Also he's just an abrasive asshole who can't say a nice word to anyone. But yeah, that's why he was pro going through with the plan to kill Homelander.
Although Homelander is a fantastic villian and very well written, his powers have been somewhat inconsistent, his strength and speed should be greater than everyones as we've seen in previous episodes, but here in the finale he seemed weaker.
He was holding back and finding out that you have a father you desperately needed and getting rejected by them and having them try to kill you is devastating especially for somebody like him
He was clearly holding back. Soldier Boy's his dad, he doesn't want to hurt him too much. And he made it abundantly clear that he didn't want to fight Maeve. He tried to talk her out of it even after she hit him, but at some point he had to fight back.
I'd agree if they didn't explicitly show Homelander brushing Maeve off trying not to fight her. His mind was on only one thing. Idk how much more they could've conveyed that.
The finale disappointed me a bit. I kinda feel sorry for SB. He kept his word and was ready to take out homelander even though he's his son, but the boys turned their backs on him. Yes I know, I know, killing Homelander is killing the show, blah, blah... But the way how they did it is a bit lame... Maybe it would be better if even Black Noir was there side by side with Homelander and fought against the boys, especially to get little revenge on SB. In the end we got that Homelander kill and humiliate him very easily (in the comics he is the strongest supe). Or maybe during the fight with the boys, Homelander kills BN, to show his repentance, that BN is the main culprit, hiding from him that SB is his father. "yada, yada, yada," A lot of things were missing, the script is kind of poor for me. Instead of watching SB and Homelander fight, we watched Meave and Homelander? Finally we see Starlight fighting and...... flop! She is building her power 5 minutes to push Soldier boy few inches? What would Thanos say: "All that for a drop of blood?" The scene in the lab, while Kimiko kills one soldier, the other is literally waiting to attack him too, targeting the Frenchie for half an hour. Don't get me wrong, the Boys are kind of perfect for me, they shouldn't allow such naive and stupid scenes. Ryan should have been better involved in this episode. It would be cool if he saved Homelander and and fly away with him. I wanted the season finale to look brutal, to leave our jaws open, like Herogasm, but for me this is the worst episode in season 3.🍻
l agree, the ending was just disapointing. No one died after all that. Soldier was committed yet butcher decided to chicken out when shit hit the fan. At the very least, the kid should have been killed. We needed consequences. This shit was just bland. What was the whole point? Butcher has be solidified as the greatest loser in the entire show. All that for nothing
He didn’t care about keeping his word - - he just was mortified by how weak his son was - and decided he’d go along with the plan.. if Homelander was more stern - he would’ve betrayed Butcher.. he showed in ep 7 he doesn’t give af about him or the deal.
You felt sorry for Soldier Boy? He's an abuser, murderer and a fraud and you feel sorry for him? He's a great character and a human one at that, but people need to remember the fucked up things he did lol.
One of the main complaints i've seen is that at the end of the season, we're back to the same status quo again without much progression. The team is still trying to kill Homelander. Soldier Boy came and went. Black Noir came and went (though hopefully there's more to this next season). Kimiko and Frenchie found themselves? Butcher is still doing Butcher things to get revenge (e.g. anything it takes). MM is still fucked up but now his kid knows. Only real plot movement is the team found out who the Headpopper is, and Homelanders realising he can do whatever he wants and still keep Ryan and the right wingers on side.
I 100% agree with that assessment. This season, while entertaining, was essentially filler. They're renewed for two more seasons so I'm expecting another filler season at least. If they don't get renewed season 5 has a chance of actual development.
I have a feeling there will be a new Black Noir in S4, Homelander will be in shock when it comes up, BN will act the same, Vought will say they healed him but that's a lie as behind the mask there will be a HL clone just like in the comics. (Vought = Neuman created it to keep HL on a leash)
Yeah, that was my same thoughts. The season didn't really feel like it went anywhere. It was incredibly entertaining but that whole "story arc" with MM's daughter's step dad where he praises Homelander and then see's him execute some dude and cheer just seemed really forced. I understand what they were going for but the dude just come off as a douche. I get that they are saying the dude was super pissed of MM punched him out and saw Homelander executing that dude and someone "standing up to a bully" but all in all it didn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. Just thought that little subplot was kinda dumb. It was cool seeing Homelander finally lose his shit in front of a bunch of people. I liked the season but a lot of the progression from Season 2 was walked back and that was kinda annoying. Jensen Ackles was a phenomenal actor and his character was very intresing. Highlight of the season FOR SURE was the Butcher flashbacks. That shit made me cry. Also when Soldier Boy is whooping Homelander's ass and then Ryan shoots him with lasers. That part when Homelander and Butcher both look at each other for a momentary truce... That was a great moment. It was a solid season but ya know didn't feel like it had many resolutions and was mostly just buildup.
@@JohnDoe44484 homelander would notice the clone immediately though so that wouldn’t work, he said himself he could see through noirs mask so you can’t just hide a clone from him like that he’d immediately look at noir and be like wtf. Also I really don’t see them doing that direction anyways cus it would just be far too predictable for anyone familiar with the comic which now that this show started is a lot of people
I was incredibly disappointed by the finale ,very little changed from the start of the season , its not quite filler but it feels like they used this season just to move pieces around for the next season
@@harlepas Edgar is no longer at Vought. Maeve is depowered and off the show for the foreseeable future. Black Noir has been killed and will probably be replaced with the character he was in the comics and thus be the contingency for Homelander going forward. Butcher is dying and there still is at least one vial of TEMP V that will show up later. Ryan is now Team HL. A lot happened man lol and a bunch of new fans hopped on and found the show this season. Pretty successful season even if people thought we would be getting close to the end at the close of this season (why would Amazon try to end their most popular show earlier than they need to?)
It made no sense, they protected homelander from soldier boy but before the fight homekander made deep kill a senator then 10 minutes after the fight homelander kills a guy in the town square.
Having Homelander partially get hit by Soldier Boy's blast and losing some of his invincibility would have forced the character to come to terms with vulnerability. Instead we get the odd ball ending where Maeve is still alive. If Noir comes back then this show jumps the shark. A-Train should have already died. Maeve wants to be a good person which causes her to save the MANY rather than killing the ONE (Homelander) which was her clear intention as she explicitly stated. Her choice to NOT allow solider boy to explode in the building interior clearly causes her to be dismayed but she grudgingly does it---which she acknowledges to Starlight at the end.
I kinda like a-train and the deep being constantly dragged through the mud. They're both giant pieces of garbage, and it feels good to see them get kicked around.
A-Train should’ve died at the end of season 1 from the heart attack. The Deep should’ve died along with Ashley in the season 3 finale because homelander wants to “restart his family” and that means killing them both after killing Noir
How would noir coming back jump the shark? Soldier Boy bashed his brains out and he still lived. Clearly regeneration is one of his powers. And don’t forget you gotta seem em dead twice for it to be real. Don’t get Gandalfed.
The Maeve escape was way too convenient for me. You're telling me that Vaught, the entity that knows everything about every super hero, did not properly detain and escort Maeve? Yea, seems a little far fetched to me.
The blast and fall should have killed her. Why did she survive with just some broken bones? Crimson gets roasted, others get vaporized but she just has some scars??? What?

The action was so awesome and everything was shot so well. But from a plot stand point nothing really changed. Through three seasons Butcher was dead focused on killing Homelander no matter what, then in the blink of an eye it was all pointless. Also, we're right back to square one with everything: Homelander is liked again, A-Train is alive and well and pointless, Deep is still alive and still pointless, Soldier Boy is back in a cage, Mave's death was so impactful because she kicked so much ass but then GOT YA SIKE she's still alive which is a good thing but made that fake death scene pointless. My biggest peeve was Noir’s resolution. I thought the final fight had one too many conveniences but the build up to Noir and Soldier Boy was nice. Their subverting expectations I think worked well when Homelander kills Supersonic offscreen, but here with Noir did not seem right at all.
I didn't like it either. His death seemed to tame for how much damage we've seen Noir take. However, there's an interview with Erik Kripke where he leaves open the possibility that the hero Black Noir could return, even if this incarnation of him is dead. Notice only Maeve was publically announced as dead in the finale. I really hope they bring back back Noir. Despite his short screentime throughout the earlier seasons, he's been my favorite character.
@@cortesacrawford What kind of damage has he taken that’s anywhere near worse than a full force gut punch from Homelander? None. Nobody is surviving that nothing about it was tame
I'm actually shocked Alex and Joe gave this a 10/10 lol this was one of the worst episodes in the entire series. Naw soilder boy was a asshole WAYYY before he was taken by the Russians and as seen often abused his teammates. Remember NOIR likes homelander and saw him as a friend. But was willing to kill SB. I honestly think with that and his chances to just go off due to the sound of Russian music soilder boy was a threat.
@@kylekid10 Black noir liking homelander over SB doesn’t mean he considers him less of a threat. Black noir is self serving. SB regularly abused him, and so he hates him more.
I couldn't disagree more with y'all on this one. This finale felt like a parody of everything the Boys had shown us so far. Melodramatic music swelling, zero main characters dying three seasons into a show where they are literally jelly compared to their enemies. There was zero stakes this season, and refusing to kill off at least Maeve was cowardly. If Noir is revived next season, then that would make this episode even worse. The starlight powerup scene to literally just knock down soldier boy was comedy, but they played it off like it was this epic moment. You guys mentioned Maeve throwing the nerve agent, and if this was a better written episode, we at least would get a scene where we see the consequences of that decision. The only redeemable part of the episode is Homelander finally winning over his son, which sets up the next season well, I don't know if it was really earned, as we hadn't seen any signs of the son being a pyscho (him getting mad at people attacking his mom is not proof, this is the same logic people use for Dany from GOT becoming the mad queen, it's stupid. The Maeve/Homelander fight was good, but the other set piece did not look good. It was clunky, the effects were spotty, and you could tell people were on wires. Extremely disappointing compared to the fights from this series and even a couple of episodes ago. Easily the worst episode of the series. Still above average tv. Gotta give the shows you love the most the harshest criticism. Season as a whole, 8/10, with the only episodes that weren't great-badass being episode 1&8.
Must admit, I was very surprised by how positive the guys were on the finale. The boys is my favourite show of all time but have to admit that I thought the finale was the worst of the season. Strange moments and a little too close to a generic superhero movie in regards to the final fight. Still cannot get enough of this show! It’s a masterpiece
The finale didn't feel like The Boys. The writing was off and characters weren't acting like they should. Homelander is suddenly not OP? Muh wife's son? Maeve is invincible and gets to go to the happy lesbian farm? And if Maeve is fine, why is Soldier Boy captured? He used his power before and was just fine after. Black Noir just does nothing and dies (expectations subverted!) The Deep's entire season was dumb. A-Train - can he just die already? His redemption arc is lame and out of character.
The finale robbed us of a Soldier Boy / Black Noir confrontation, made Kimiko back into a psycho, showcased Starlight as useless and weak and didn't give MM any kind of resolution either. Maeve didn't deserve the happy fairy tale ending in the slightest, they didn't have the guts to kill any character except the one that had gotten the most development in previous episodes. The final confrontation was a senseless free for all with serious powerscaling issues in which every party involved lacked any clear objective or priorities. They all mutually agree that Soldier Boy is the biggest threat because of plot convenience. This finale left us again with a promise of a unhinged Homelander, while Vaught, even after suffering so many blows, stands strong as ever. I mean I know it's supposed to show off how untouchable Vaught is, but come on this whole Soldier Boy plot felt like a side mission which accomplished little to nothing. I'm sad cause I was enjoying the season a lot, I felt like every episode was exceptional until the last one aired
Soilder boy / Black noir confrontation should have been an amazing climax to the season, Butcher just giving up on Homelander was just bad writing, and Metal makes Homelander bleed apparently, now he’s just a regular Sup
@@wokeyoda96 i agree with all that except, Maeve is said to be second in power to HL so I think it’s reasonable her jamming something into a sensitive part (the earhole) could cause real dmg to HL
Very nice, man. I was blinded by the hype of the next season this set ups, by the emotion of everything happening on screen but didn't give it enough thought. That probably happened to most including Joe, OJ and Alex.
I always knew that Homelander's son, Ryan, was ALWAYS going to be a problem, and Butcher showed himself to be an idiot this season in how he treated the boy from a purely emotional point of view. The fact that he wasn't treating this boy with kid gloves, no pun intended, and made a serious mistake in adding to the boy's emotional trauma. Now, the kid is no longer going to be a check on Homelander - until he has a lame "redemption arc" next season and turns on him.
i agree, the kid is a fucking liability and they should have allowed soldier boy to delete his powers and homelander's powers. at least with soldier boy they have ways to take him down, but now with ryan and homelander they don't have shit
@@finitatem I mean we don't know what happens if a former supe who lost their powers takes compound v, the stuff gave a train a heart attack eventually
@Kakashi Hatake Copy Ninja the heart problems were caused by him taking v his brother/trainer literally says that and the show makes it extremely clear that the v is what's causing him health problems
Anyone else feel it was a bit anti-climactic? I love The Boys, and it's standard is so high that an average episode is still like 8 or 9 / 10... it was great, but I dunno...maybe time to watch the whole season in one.
Soilder boy / Black noir confrontation should have been an amazing climax to the season, Butcher just giving up on Homelander was just bad writing, and Metal makes Homelander bleed apparently, now he’s just a regular Sup
The ending was just disapointing. There needed to be more consequence, its like we didnt make much progress all season. And man butcher is such apussy. I thought he was committed yet when push came to shove he pulled out. Actually liked soldier boy in that respect, dude has some integrity in him. Thought he was just gonna betray butcher but damn, dude was comitted
@@trentirvin2008 Ryan literally lasers soldier boy, did he expect him to stand there and take it? He sucker punches Hughie to keep him safe but doesn't do that to his... sorry, his wife's son... The ending is filled with plotholes everywhere
Something about Maeve bothers me here, when she went out the window with Soldier Boy, he used his powers very high up in the air which removed Maeve's powers.. so how did she survive that huge fall without powers?
This was actually the first episode of The Boys in the entire show so far that I can remember being disappointed in. I understand since we have two more seasons left, they wanted to keep this soldier boy/homelander thing going but idk that resolution we got was not satisfying for me. Also it was off-putting to me that Maeve put up such a fight against Homelander when the entire series up to this point gave us the impression she was not anywhere on his level. Wasn't really a fan of the whole soldier boy/homelander father-son dynamic either just made it very hard for me to believe soldier boy would of stuck with butcher rather than homelander
The dumb thing is that they could have kept the soldier boy/homrlander/Ryan dynamic by just following the logical course that despite his disappointment with homelander, soldier boy would choose his own blood over some dude he barely met. They could have sacrificed Huey (since he could teleport everyone out, then die a hero) and Maeve (she could have held back homelander and soldier boy for a few seconds while Huey teleported everyone away, Butcher against his will). They way they did it was just so damn dumb. It was subversion for the sake of subversion.
@@natediaz1863 I agree but I think they just couldn't think of a believable enough way for homelander and soldier boy together to lose to anyone so they had to keep them against each other by any means. Especially since butcher and the crew can't endlessly pop temp v.
i disagree. judging from his comments towards homelander, i think SB realises they are pieces of shit and need to be stopped. like butcher said, homelander is not his son
I thought the finale was a bit disappointing. I also wanted to see more consequences. SPOILER ALERT: - Maeves ending was good. - I did not like the team-up of Butcher and Homelander just because Soldier Boy shoots in the direction of Ryan. Why did Butcher not push Ryan out of the way. - Why did Soldier Boy call Homelander in episode 7 and tell him everything change when we see that exactly nothing changed between them. Soldier Boy should have killed Homelanders son. That would have been a good reason for the team-up of Butcher and Homelander. - Noir's exit was not good.
Didn't say everything,he said the situation has changed, situation been homelander is his illegitimate son,a fact butcher convinces him that it doesn't matter
Whoa… Good episode, but shocked to hear them saying it was like completely amazing… Alex said this was better than herogasm 😂 Not the reaction I was expecting with this review 🤷♂️
Yet he said the ST finale was outright bad. This had way more shit to talk about than the finale of ST. I was seeing iffy and dumb stuff this episode and imagining Alex's negative reactions.
@@mohireza1 'That' content was barely at the forefront. MM and SL killed it in that episode. Huey was decent. A much better fight. We got A-Train apology and killing Bluehawk. Most people were surprised at how tame the actual Herogasm was.
I feel the finale was actually a let down, The previous episode's building up to it And then this was kind of underwhelming. They were a few good twists but I was disappointed. Still good television but not as excellent as we've come to expect. This would have made a good mid season High stakes episode.
@Hugh I have not read the comics so I have no idea how grounded my thought is, But it seems like it's Butcher might Take actual V just to be able to Fight homelander if he starts running out of time...
I'm surprised you guys liked this episode so much. I personally thought this was the worst of the season by far. They built up so much for them just to return to where they were at the start of the season.
I also feel let down by this episode, and the season in general, many characters are way different to the comic versions at this point, between many reasons. Sneakily going back to the start means you get to have a "free" season to sell.
Well not entirely. 1.) We've got 2 members of the seven out. 2.) 1 Member might be gearing up to betray homelander. 3.) A member of the boys dying. 4.) A new mega threat. 5.) Soldier Boy on ice, but controlled by the Gov (probably to keep homelander in check) 6.) A mini homelander turning evil. 7.) And a radicalized guardian of MM's kid.
Part of the issue with Noir is that they made him so much different from the comics they don't have any material anymore. My only thought is that next season that bring him back but its actually a different Noir that they pretend is the original one, like he never died, and that Noir is the clone. Unlikely, I just don't see how they could do it.
@@blaster915 exactly. They better not try to make him lose. I think Edgar is really the one person who can beat Homelander not physically or directly, but through his plans, but also isn't a good guy.
@@TearDownGenesis Nah they only announced Maeve which makes sense because Noir is easily replaceable and they don't want to cause more unease in the public with 2 of the 7 dying
You guys tore the Obi-Wan Kenobi series a new one but you’re gushing over the finale like it was perfect. I thought it was enjoyable but it was still poor in a lot of ways. 1. Frenchie cooks up a dangerous nerve agent in a lab with a few scraps in the space of ten minutes. 2. Maeve throws some nerve agent out into the street and we just move on like it never happened. 3. We spent far too time this season on Kimiko acting like she doesn’t want to be a killer anymore but here she’s relishing in the fact she’s chopping guys up while listening to Maniac. 3. We get this big battle at the end where nobody even dies. Maeve loses her powers falling from a skyscraper but ends up living on a farm. Really?? 4. Soldier Boy actually seemed like an interesting character throughout season 3 but was sorely underused. He pushes down Ryan and now suddenly he’s the bad guy and we’re meant to believe he’s worse than Homelander. 5. Starlight builds up her powers for 90 seconds just so she can knock Soldier Boy back about three feet. We wasted so much time this season with her lighting her eyes up and then doing nothing and then in the finale we get this. 6. We spend a bunch of time on Black Noire in episode 7 and he gets finished off in episode 8 in the space of two minutes. 7. There’s never any real sense of danger like there was in season one and two. Nobody dies. We just think they’re dead and then in the next scene/episode they’re fine. It’s almost like the rest of the season was written like this was the last season and then they had to rush the finale and make sure everyone survived once season 4 and 5 were green lit. I’m probably forgetting a bunch of stuff but it’s late. I still think it’s a good episode but just a bad finale. If we got two more episodes to build up to what we saw then it might have all worked.
He survived multiple explosions, stabs, burns, gunshots, and beatings to an extent. But they never explained his powers thoroughly, so Idk unless his healing takes longer or something
He does... matter of fact in the first season they show him get up after possibly being killed. The writers totally forgot that he has a regenerative healing Factor.
Unfortunately, the last episode managed to screw up not just the season but the entire series. There are so many different problems. 1. Inconsistencies with established physics and power leves. We are told from the very beginning that Homelander is insanely strong. He is factually stronger than Soldier Boy and we were told Maeve can at best hold him for some seconds. But now we know his skin can be penetrated with a freaking steel rod and some power applied to it. So yes, now Maeve can easily kill him by attacking his eyes and then brains. We are also told that Soldier Boy's blasts in best case scenario can depower a supe in a second, in worst case - burn him to bones. But now, not only Maeve can survive a direct blast from Soldier Boy, she somehow as human survived a fall from 30 meters high place. Also somehow in the middle of this she managed to drug SB with novichok which did not get desintegrated in the explosion for some reason. There are problems with Starlight as well. If I recall correctly we were told that people could become blind if they didn't look away when she used her powers. But now apparently she can use her powers at 500% capacity and nobody is hurt. 2. Inconsistencies with characters' beliefs and motivations. One of the biggest storylines of this series is Temp V and what happends when people crave superpowers. I guess the idea was that there had to be differences between Kimiko and Hughey and, while yes, there are certain differences, I don't think that was what authors intended to show. What we actually see is both characters want to have superpowers to help the cause and save who they care about, but when Hughey uses powers only to help people using teleportation, Kimiko uses her powers as a sadistic maniac choosing for the most painful death imaginable for even the most unrelated people. There is a scene where Hughey informs everyone that there are TERRORISTS in the building and, obviously, the security is dispatched. You know what Kimiko does to them? She scratches their face untill they are either dead or so pain shocked that they can't even move. The problem however is, that none of the characters acknowledge this and not one of them think that maybe Kimiko does not deserve her powers. Instead they all scold Hughey for just taking temporary V because apparently its better for him to risk his life every time he is near any action. Obviously that was all before they even knew that Temp V kills him so this rationalization does not count. Soldier Boy. Soldier Boy was surely intended to be a villain yet he turned out so likeable that when all the other characters gang up on him most viewers are rooting for SB. For some reason MM calls him a racist even though we are not shown or at least told of anything racist he ever did. We can assume he's racist just because he is from certain time period but by this logic Captain America is a racist as well. And even if he was a racist before he was tortured for decades in Russia, isn't the whole point of Frenchie storyline is that we shouldn't be judged by our past? Or is this another "its ok when some characters do it but not ok when others do"? It certainly is. Butcher, Maeve and Starlight. All of the three had clear and understandable motivations and one clear goal - kill Homelander. They all knew that with every day he becomes even closer to massacring half a country and yet for some idiotic reasons at their best and only chance to actually defeat Homelander they turn on Soldier Boy instead? Soldier Boy, who actually agreed to kill his own biological son because that was the right thing to do and it was the deal. They turn on him because he wanted to use his blast near the kid which as we know would just depower him instead of killing him - actually turning him into a normal kid. And this is a problem how? And even if its a problem why didn't Maeve or Butcher take the kid while the others are left to finish the job? 3. Boring characters One of the reasons I liked this series was because the character were not whiny little kids crying about their problems all the time. They all did what Butcher told them to do and worked according to the plan to reach their goals. Now the secodn half of the season most of the scenes with MM and Frenchie is just them crying over something and cursing Butcher. At some point that becomes generic and boring as hell. And that "democratic referendum" at the end is cringe on top of that. 4. Boring story arcs If you look at other reviews you will see that most people just don't feel like series moved forward in any way. And its true, we are back at the beginning but with even worse odds when we had. And for some reason everybody is happy! We had Maeve, we had Ryan and we had leverage over Homelander. Now its all gone. While yes, its some sort of change but not the change we actually expect from the series. We want our character to move forward not stay on the same place just with the worse odds. And how can we even care about their motivations if its that superficial now? Soldier Boys is back in the ice, Kimiko is back being a psychopathic murderer. Nobody is killed. Yes, including Noir, he will be back. While I admit its the hardest point for me to argue for because of how nuanced the art of storytelling is but its no doubt that a lot of people feel this way about the general plot. 5. Very, very, very dumb propaganda To understand my point you need to understand what propaganda is. Propaganda is when some media or artpiece changes the reality to fit some political ideology or narrative. Propaganda is not satire. There are many examples of propaganda ranging from World War I and II posters, where one side is dehumanized and shown as savages or animals and the other one as angels, to USSR films where the West is depicted as hell on Earth where people are starving under oppressive totalitarian regime. This is the level of cringy propaganda Boys has achieved with its last episode. Now, I know that conservatives in the USA can look very scary to liberals especially when they are cosplaying Vikings... But it still does not mean that conservatives would cheer when their supposed leader lazers someone's head off. Not to mention toppling statues (an obvious projection from the writers). I saw the author referencing Trump quote about him killing someone and not loosing any supporters - I suppose the filming school where this author studied did not teach him what unreliable narrator is. There is a difference between what Trump says and what is actually true. More than that, every political movement has a lot of people which mention they wish death on their opponents - does not mean they would cheer seeing actual murder happening in front of them. Its funny how the series changes the sides making the left the ones that are banned and cancelled by large corporation for supposed "conspiracy theories". Do authors not see the irony? Though they did make "the right" use the word "lamestream media" even tho in real life both media and especially corporations are both majority left alligned and have same views on practically every political subject. The most unfortunate thing here is not the propaganda which is as ingrained in Hollywood as cases of child molestation, its the fact that the series was always political - that was the thing that made it so much deeper than, well, in my opinion, any other tv series at all. It was political but it was never agenda driven, it just showed how things are in real life. It showed how corporations use one political and social trends to appeal to one demographic and another political and social trends to appeal to another. It showed how most corporations and their executives don't have any values aside from making sure stock prices rise and profits increase. Even with Blue Hawk the series did not delve into agenda driven propaganda and just showed that people like Blue Hawk exist and they have their own rationalization for their actions. And most importantly that rationalization was authentic - not made up by writers to fit the narrative.
He makes a goodtimes joke at Noir in the cartoon flashback and I believe says he held a hose during a civil rights marches in the 60s. Dude is definitely racist but more because of the time period he grew up than actual hate for other races. He's no Stormfront but still above casually racist.
@@Ryuksgelus while the reference to civil rights marches is legit, I don’t think the phrase “moving on up” is automatically a reference to Goodtimes. So, yes, I agree that he’s racist but the authors instead of telling us how racist SB is with literally one little line of dialogue should have actually showed SB doing racist stuff. Like they showed Homelander doing whatever Homelander wants and Stormfront assaulting minorities. Now we as viewers would at least sympathize with MM more instead of sympathizing with SB.
Racism: Other than SB killing MM's family, the Legend says that SB held a firehose in Birmingham. "Propaganda": The right are the ones accusing the left of being pedos (Q conspiracy nutjobs), calling people snowflakes, calling everything negative about them "fake news", and are the ones who look for a fascist leader to worship and tell them what to do.
No one dying in the final battle is bad, homelander killing a random human and people cheering him on doesn't make sense, overall the season was really good, but dang those two things are just enough to make a difference
I disagree with you guys on this episode. I thought it was an “okay” episode. Though it was definitely worse the herogasm but I loved your explanation and review. Keep it up the great work AJ!
Agreed, it was meh. I really just want the show to come to its conclusion. Feels so drawn out, dancing around the final confrontation with homelander. I want them to get to the point, introducing a new side villain every season to distract us from homelander is just tacky. Feels like nothing changes.
I dont think that it even was okay. I think it might be the worst boys episode and that shocks me. Herogasm was amazing and then the finale sucks balls
it was either OKAY if youre a fan o the show or meh if youre not. they really blindly rated this episode. 10/10? better than 6 ? no way. they left so many plot holes its actually nerv racking. and the inconsistency in the power.... we know homelander wasnt taking maeve serious but he should knock her out with 1 power punch. SOLDIER BOY WITH BUTCHER struggled with homelander
Given all the build-up, it was a bit underwhelming. Also feel rushed and could have used a few more episodes to expand/resolve all the sub-plots. Maeve should've died.
Soldier Boy really grew on me; he is just beyond the line of "lovable asshole" so he still retains his villain status and keeps you on your toes, but he is very entertaining. I found myself frequently enjoying him, and then quickly being reminded that he is a bad guy. He's kind of like an extreme version of Loki in that particular sense.
I've never felt such a vast difference of opinion of an AngryJoe review. It truly baffles me what show they were watching. "Multiple major character deaths". WHAT? The only person who died was Noir who was a near total non-character except for 4 episodes. Season finale was GOT tier writing in every way. Completely illogical, character and plot breaking nonsense. Kripke said on Twitter it was the show writer's first ever script they'd written and it completely shows.
Can't believe Alex, of all people, saying that this is better than Herogasm. This episode was the worst written episode of this season. Butcher was so set on using Soldier Boy to defeat Homelander, then out of nowhere, betrays SB because of Ryan. Butcher could have EASILY just moved Ryan out of the way; problem solved. Compared to almost everything else on TV, this show is absolutely amazing, but this episode did stick out like a sore thumb. It seemed The Boys is just back to square one.
Yep they completely missed the mark witht his review. Joe was really praising the writers for this episode like wth? Talking about how they are talented writers, this episode left a bad taste in my mouth like they resolved everything in the most annoying way possible.
@@paulallen1916 It really does feel like not much of significance happened. We are basically at the end of season 2 again, with some minor changes, like Homelander being cool with his son again and the boys knowing the identity of The Head Exploder. But thats it.. I also dont like how Butcher casually wants to hunt down The Head Exploder now, after letting Homelander get away again. Like he suddenly doesnt care at all about him anymore.
They can't kill off their gay female character. Couldn't give her character a meaningful sacrificial death that actually would have been a moving scene and a good way to say goodbye to her. Why are so many writers scared to kill off main characters? It gives the stories actual tension making you wonder if the main characters will actually make it.
I'm the opposite actually. This final ep was one of the worst! 👎 1. Noir did nothing. 2. Soldier boy wasn't going after Ryan, he just knocked him out. So butcher could've just moved him out of the way and continued with homelander but nope smh 🤦♂️ 3. Maeve took a shot point blank and didn't unalive. The blast only makes supes powerless! Only one in danger was hughie, mm and frenchie, whom Maeve didn't care for. So why did she feel she need to push soldier boy out of the building?! 🤦♂️ 4. Ryan was raised by his caring mom. Youre telling me one incident made Ryan forget his loving origin and all of a sudden he's siding with pure evil? Smh 🤦♂️ - maybe others I forgot.
I just realized I don’t think I’ve ever seen Alex laugh even one time. I’m trying to imagine his laugh in my head after seeing him just smile when the Joes are laughing and I couldn’t conjure any memories of hearing him laugh.
The elephant in the room is starlight's face. I noticed that her face was airbrushed throughout the entire season. Maybe she had some work done or there was some bruises they were trying to cover up. It just felt really weird every time they showed her face on screen.
Soilder boy / Black noir confrontation should have been an amazing climax to the season, Butcher just giving up on Homelander was just bad writing, and Metal makes Homelander bleed apparently, now he’s just a regular Sup
Mave surviving the blast and A train not doing nothing were low points for the episode. Like she lost her powers in that blast she should’ve died from the fall alone. The fact that we knew they were making another season before this definitely lessened my expectations but not this much. It felt like it ended where it started. I mean they broke soldier boy out of a Russian lab only for him to end up in a cia lab, Kimiko lost her powers only to get them back. The finale made it feel like filler in a way. The best part was definitely that protest scene in the end, that shit was so fucked up and I don’t know where they can go next. I hope the show doesn’t lessen in quality because they want to milk it as much as possible.
Excellent resolution? I guess we'll agree to disagree. Black Noir. Soldier Boy. Hughie is just fine. The Boys are pretty much back to square one. Where's Edgar? Kimiko doesn't want powers, loses them, but wants powers again, and gets them back, but murdering like a monster is fine now I guess. I thought her and Frenchie were gonna run away? No, don't grab Ryan and get out there, just throw Soldier Boy out the window and let Homelander get away scott free. Starlight's epic powerup for an useless breeze. Temp V will kill ya but Blue V is just fine. But don't stock up on it while your in the lab. That stuff would be useful for later. Nah. Shock value but no consequences in the finale sums it all up. I like the episodes but all the build up didn't end up paying off for anything at all. They lost every advantage over Homelander going into next season.
Soilder boy / Black noir confrontation should have been an amazing climax to the season, Butcher just giving up on Homelander was just bad writing, and Metal makes Homelander bleed apparently, now he’s just a regular Sup
Vougth has so much power and influence that you would think any charges against his CEO wouldn't stick plus the company would had contingency plans upon contingency plans in case that happens and not instantly concede the control of a multibillion dollar enterprise to someone that is basically as Edgar said one of their products and to a PR head (Vought of the comics had a contingency plan and his Edgar even as a " plain person" terrified Homelander , as Edgar did when the show presented him)
I feel like the most powerful sups with godlike powers should do more damage to the environment when fighting, I mean Homelander fought Maeve and the damage was one wrecked cabin, if not for SB exploding the damage would sum up to slightly messing up one room. It's kinda inconsistent with how strong they are, so Homelander can easily put his hand through another strong sup like Noir but not break the wall when he throws Maeve or SB at it?
I was really enjoying the escalation of the season until this episode. I'm sure the next season and beyond will be good but I kinda wish that this was set-up to be the big finale. A ton of character arcs could've resolved here in a satisfying way, but instead we got a ton of backpedaling. Felt like a family sitcom level of resetting characters how almost everyone ends up in relatively the same place at the beginning and end of season 3. Black Noir got done dirty, everything else was just a bit less up to par than usual.
It's kind of glossed over but Grace Mallory's backstory was awesome earlier this season. I like her alot. The actress who plays her has been great in this series. Underrated character.
Black Noir's superpower could be like the Immortal in Invincible. Like, he doesn't have a "healing factor" per se, but if you stitch him back up he will continue to live. Kinda fits with the limited info we have on him so far (I mean, he did survive losing an actual part of his brain, if the animated scene was being literal).
It was such a great episode, but as a season finale it left me a bit unsatisfied. The questions still is, how they are going to take down Homelander? Maybe they (the military) use Soldier Boy as some sort of guinea pig to analyze his powers, then copy it and use it against Homelander. Or they use the toxin that could knock out Soldier Boy. Also, there is no way that they brought Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) only for this season, so he will most likely (hopefully) be back next season, maybe in a smaller role.
It's a testimony to Jensen Ackles acting and charisma that I felt a lot of sympathy for Soldier Boy, when on paper I shouldn't. He's a curmudgeon that's done some really, really shitty and awful things and has gotten innocent people killed. But at the same time, his voice, his mannerisms, he really feels like one of those heroic, stoic and rugged men from the 40s who just got a job done and didn't whinge when life got hard. Him showing softer sides, a desire to have kids and retire from the game, his PTSD and his regrets all made him the break-out character of the season, imo.
SB's actions are much more manageable compared to HL's actions. Seriously do we compare what HL has done versus what SB has done? That list isn't in Homelander's favor.
@@normaaliihminen722 plus soldier boy seems to realise he's a piece of shit unlike homelander. homelander sees himself as a god, SB, sees himself as a disappointment
I really hated that ending. Homlander just straight up murdering a random person in a crowd of people, then having that crowd cheer about it is far more ridiculous than when Fonzie jumped that shark. I mean, which do you think is actually more plausible? Fonzie risking his life, doing something as stupid as jumping a shark; or an entire crowd of people risking their life, doing something as stupid as not getting the fuck away from the psychopath with the laser eyes?
I can't help but feel they were paid off to give such a positive review. Angry joe he's usually blinded by his fanboy glasses so his reaction I expected. But Alex seems to have a more critical mind when reviewing episodes/movies and usually tells it as it is. If I saw the holes in this episode surely he did as well and him giving such a positive review honestly tells me they were paid off His 9/10 did not seem genuine. This episode had alot of writing issues and honestly threw away alot of its set up just to set up season 4. 1. Black noir got treated terribly they were setting up a fight and they kill him before he does anything Black noir finally gets a character arc after being a blank slate and what's that character arc? Turns out Black noir is just a coward and never got to redeem himself Even running back to homelander was cowardly move. 2. Butcher knows he's running out of time and this could be his last time taking V Finally has homelander where he wants him This whole show he wanted homelander dead but becsuse fucking Ryan was there he changes his mind and backstabbing soilder boy, it would of been better if soilder boy sided with homelander and back stabbed them but no soilder boy held his end of the deal and got fucked for it. 3. Queen maeve should of died Her character arc was done She saved the day and kicked homelanders ass a little bit. I dont think anyone would of been disappointed if she died there. If she can come back there's no reason they can't bring Black noir back she fucking exploded. Overall I enjoyed this season but the season finale of season 3 was the first time the boys disappointed me I hope throwing away everything they set up for season 3 was worth it and that season 4 is a even better season. I'll keep watching its not the end of the world But yes I found this finale quite lacking
not only did she explode, the explosion deleted her powers and she fell like 50 stories. she should be a fucking poster on the sidewalk after a fall like that(even with superpowers i think she would have at least been injured after a fall like that).
Black Noir is confirmed to come back next season, to be played by the same actor behind the mask (not the maskless actor). I am unsure if it is the same character, or a clone, or a totally different Black Noir. But since he will be played by the same actor, I'm guessing he resurrects.
Black Noir's death was actually very emotional. I appreciate that the writers took his tragic story and dealt with his death to give the audience a gut-punch with it.
Ehh I would disagree, it’s the usual “give sad exposition dump of characters backstory right before they die” trope that we’ve been seeing more and more lately.
@@Ace56723 it was the cartoon characters reaction that did it for me. If he was “alone”, I would agree that it would be a typical sad character’s death scene.
i dont get what people are crying about that nothing changed, when it seems like a fair amount has changed. the deep: committed treason in killing a senator, will most likely be blackmailed or discovered in the next season, or he will defect for good a train: after his talk with his brother, he will finally also do the right thing by leaving homelander black noir: either fully dead, or will comeback in some manner and help against homelander as well queen maeve: either she earned a happy ending, which she deserves after everything shes gone through ... or come back to help in some way, and being a human without powers, might die for good starlight: has fully left vought openly. also growing in power, perhaps will continue improving her powers after her fight with SB homelander: openly kills people now and is loved for it, and continues to train his son to grow in strength, and with SB locked away for the moment, more unstoppable and incredibly more dangerous than ever. butcher: has now a hard time limit to his mission and will most likely die from his disease. hughie: learns to trust and work together with starlight SB: is most likely going to be used to create a way to finally kill or stop homelander. maybe killed himself i think the writers couldnt/didnt want to kill off too many characters in this fight because the show will run for at least 5 seasons. i think they left the door open for characters like maeve, SB, butcher, homelander, and everyone else at the fight because of how much more story points they want to hit before a BIG finale fight. the boys comic ended with practically EVERYONE dying, im sure the ending of this show will have quite a few deaths as well. however, there is still some time to go before we get there. no point in killing main people off yet. *edit* also because of the effects of temp v, neither hughie or butch can or should take it again, meaning they wont have powers in future fights, or at least wont be able to use it as a crutch like they have recently. meaning the boys will be faced with a hard choice, either they take permanent V and get permanent powers and become the very supes they try to stop or try to find a new way to stop homelander without powers. but more likely than not, i think most members of the boys, if not all will become permanent supes leading to a big finale fight where alot more people will die then.
It didn't make sense that Soldier Boy gave Starlight any time at all after immediately taking advantage of Homelander in the previous fight and taking him down while he was engaged with Butcher.
My only issue with the finale is that they established that when it comes to Supes Soldier Boys blast just takes their powers away. Like what happened with Maeve at the end (I mean she still survived that fall somehow though). All Butcher had to do was let SB shoot Homelander and Ryan. Then their powers are gone, he and Maeve can kill Homelander, and now Butcher has to deal with a depowered Ryan being pissed at him and Soldier. Done. Other than that it was excellent as always.
Except it’s been shown that SB blast can outright kill weaker supes after vaporizing their compound V. There’s a possibility that HL will survive but Ryan won’t. So perhaps Butcher didn’t wanna take that chance.
LOL IKR, I was secretly hoping they would just reflect Soldiers Boys beam back on himself, as the twist, and get killed by Homelander who thinks he can prove how much of a man he is by killing his ''father'' :P
I was INSTANTLY taken out of the show when Butcher started attacking Soldier Boy over Ryan. Homelander could have been DONE and the only thing The Boys would have to worry about is the new head-popping vice president.
Why do people think Supersonic, black noir and all the people that died this season will magically come back next season? This is not marvel, this is an adult show. He is dead, he had his guts pulled out. And just in case some people still may have been confused, the little animals confirmed he died . No one else that has been murdered on this show has came back, no one.
@@oatlaskennedy1308 Well A-Train and Maive is probably why. Though to be fair, Vought could 'replace' Noir at any given point since he's effectively a super soldier in an all black outfit to the general public.
Yeah the second part didn’t make sense… but she specifically something like, “I can train all I want - all I can do is land a few lucky hits” that line alone sold how much of a unit Homelander was.. but he got kind of fucked up
They hated that not one of the OG Stranger Things characters died in season 4 but then when even ducking Maeve survives here they don’t bitch anywhere near as much about it. Wtf, at least ST4 has Eddie dying.
Is it just me or Homelander is actually kinda weak, he's supposed to be the strongest hero and invincible but they manage to win against him so easily. The fights are so stiff and underwhelming too.
He spends most of his time fighting people weaker than him and intimidating them into submission he didnt even go to fight naqib when he showed up makes sense he cant scrap
Not at all 1 on 1 he’s uncontested, the only reason maeve survived was because he still wanted her eggs and she was the 3rd strongest supe. The only way he was even able to get overwhelmed was in was with soldier boy and two other supes and he still was holding his own
the slow-mo stupidity of starlight floating only to clap really hard for a second DID take me out of it. The low quality scene of Maeve and Soldier Boy falling and exploding looked awful. It was cropped really close, and hella fake looking. Wish a few seconds was taken from that lame starlight scene to be spent on the falling nuke scene. The finale was good, but not as high as some of the episodes from this season.
I really did NOT understand the Starlight scene. Was it meant to be funny? I expected SB to go flying out the window. What we got was like one of those jokey power-up scenes where the character just farts at the end of it.
I didn't knew Novichok was a real nerve gas, 80 times more powerful than Sarin, horrible effects, long lasting consequences if you survive it, Maeve is criminally irresponsible tossing that quantity inside a city, it could easily lead to mass murder. MM was pretty scared it was inside a glass parfume bottle, a minute later nobody cared for the innocent people of the city.
This episide completely made all of Noir's arc irrelevant. Half assed the pay off of the Homelander being Soldier Boy's son. Cheaped out by putting Maeve into a definite death situation only to plot armor her to life. Left Soldier Boy alive and thus also cheapened the stakes of the entire climactic fight. Completely made Frenchie and Kimiko's role in the finale useless. After the nitpicks you guys did with stranger things it's hard to see you give this show the kid gloves treatment. Not a bad show, but plenty to pick apart here and still not on par with the first season.
Who knows, maybe Noir's power is that he literally can't die, no matter how many Almond Joys they shove down his throat, or how badly he gets beat up to the point where chunks of his brain fall out, or how much he gets his guts ripped out, he might be like some type of undead zombie
One small criticism I had with the season was the fights not being shown. I felt like we got a little to much Godzilla King of the monsters, where as soon as we see our titans clash, they had to cut away. It pissed me off in ep 6, we're actually seeing soldier boy and Homelander go at it and two seconds in they had to cut away to show starlight give moral support to MM.
Honestly if Starlight's powered up blast just sent Soldier Boy through a wall, or temporarily disoriented/blinded him, I would have no issue with that scene. It was kind of a let down that this huge blast is equivalent to a punch from Butcher.
They also play that music in the background as she levitates as if she's about to do the coolest fucking thing we've ever seen
I loved it, it was unintentionally hilarious.
Yeah, Soldier Boy also had all the time to stop her lol
@@HellDragon115 lol. All that music and build up, just for her to mildly inconvenience Soldier Boy. it looked like he tripped!
One of the hugest "Bruh..." moments in show history. Brett Favre's flaccid penis pics hit harder than that.
Jensen Ackles turned in a statue worthy performance. He stole the show. A comedic character with a ruthless and villainous edge and it was perfectly played by Jensen.
By far my favorite character in the show. I hope he returns. When he called Homelander a disappointment I loved it.
He’s been playing Dean for a decade…
They did him dirty just like noir
Yeah he took that edge he had as red hood and brought it full force to live action. No way they keep him on ice forever
It's the voice for me
Loved the season, but was a little let down by the ending.
It also built up Noirs justice, but that was thrown out the drain as well
Starlight did one thing and she was done. Even though I love Maeve, I wish she didn't fight Homelander and let the Homelander vs Soldier Boy rematch continue
I mean, we already saw SB and Homelander fight. Homelander was more powerful, he lost cuz of Hughie and Butcher fighting too
Same, I just didnt get any closure from this finale, we’re literally back at square one
What annoyed me was Butcher throwing everything away for Ryan. I knew that this whole season was going to be a waste
So basically..
Boys got temp v then had to stop using temp v
Soldier boy was woken up then put back to sleep
Kimiko lost her powers then got her powers back
Homelander managed to walk away again
Noir got the courage to confront his demons then died without having the chance
Ryan the sympathetic kid is suddenly smiling at some dude getting his head blown off?
I loved this season but damn that was a massive let down of a finale. Incredible build up wasted. I love this series but I'm scared they're showing signs of going for quantity over quality. Hopefully I'm wrong about that though! I'll still be tuning in for season 4
@@IamPussy noir coming back ?
Damn your right. When you lay it out objectively in black and white, they spun in a circle, and the villans gained more.
Exactly what I was thinking. Also keeping Maeve alive in the very end for no reason but a happy ending was so dumb
Yup reminded me of the ending of a family guy episode where crazy things happen and then at the end everything is back to normal
The way Soldier Boy saw through Homelander and called him weak was the best.
I think the finale even damages the season as a whole. Evrrything feels pointless. Nothing changed. They are at point A again. Waste of time
Why is everybody fixated on someone dying?
I disagree. I think the way it ended it’s obviously going to go in the direction of homelander and his son or something
I was team Soldier Boy all the way. He was the only one with common sense. The Boys ruined there only chance to kill Homelander and only created another. Every person Homelander kills from this point is on them.
Wow you're so edgy..boohoo
Crazy how Butcher fucked this up SO hard that even Soldier Boy looks like the sane one
And his communication skills didn't help either, he should've said that Ryan was the byproduct of Homelander abusing his wife, not "his wife's son" 💀💀
So the technology is already there.
didnt see it like this until this comment
They definitely should have dealt with homelander first. They fucked up their only chance to end him permanently
This episode was never going to have that ending
Well then we wouldn't have a season 4 or 5

My favourite dialogue was when Soldier Boy tells Homelander:
"You r exactly like me. A fucking disapointment."
That hit really hard for me after the Butcher scene in the early episode
It also showes how Soldier Boys dad influenced him
In that moment he understood how he made his dad feel when looking at Homelander
uhhh, he didn't mean he was a dissapointment too that's a massive misconception on your part. he said the same thing as his dad to him. that's it. he believed homelander was being a weak man and told him that, solider boy didnt think himself was a dissapointment at all .. frankly the opposite i'd actually suggest rewatching.
@@kieranb7747 are you sure because he was pretty emotional saying that. He might have saw a even weaker version of himself in Homelander. @@kieranb7747 Homelander said “I am you” and Soldier said “I know” lol
Maybe that's the point, the boys fucked up and they did more harm than good
I'm confused if they'll be playing on supes joining the US military plot again of season-1 that Homelander aspired for?
@@wokeyoda96 I think the point is Homelander was never as strong as we thought in the first place.

We want our marketable villian but we need something to happen.

Really shifts the focus of the ending...Thank you for ruining my happy ending :D
Your point is absolutely true.

Definitely the weakest, big disappointment to a great season
Agreed, everyone is stupid, and things just happen 'cause the plot demands it. They did Noir dirty, and the real world politics analogy at the end was hamfisted.
100% a disappointment. Frenchie getting shot because Kimiko was dancing was so dumb. Black noir just dying was so bad as well. The big fight was a bit cheesy as well, the shot were Homelander is gauging Maeves eyes felt soo fake. Idk, i was hoping for a better ending.
Totally agree such a weird abrupt ending to the best season thus far, kinda a bummer
In order for the story to remain compelling it has to finish at season 4 or 5
Honestly I felt myself sympathizing for Soldier Boy the most and I don't think that was supposed to be the intention lol.

I don’t believe it was. He was a racist sexist abusive asshole. Especially to his own team. Did everyone forget the cartoon?

Overall I was severely let down by this finale. All of the episodes up to this just seemed way better by comparison. I mean , how do you top Herogasm?
My thoughts exactly
exactly, man it was so stupid ..
ya, this season was really good but the weakest finale of all seasons. I forget who said it (maybe john campea), but they put all their money into Herogasm, when they should of put more of it in the finale. They nerfed a lot of supes here (Homelander, Black Noir, Starlight and possibly SB?).
They had to have changed the finale up at the last minute with the s4 renewal
Thank god I'm not alone
I think soldier boy just saw himself in homelander and realized what his father saw in him. A disappointment
Damn. Yeah that's it 😳
Also he's just an abrasive asshole who can't say a nice word to anyone. But yeah, that's why he was pro going through with the plan to kill Homelander.
woah i think you watched the episode
*gags him
You know who else was a disappointment? Black Noir this season.
I was upset about Noir. I really love his character, he’s just a badass with a super soft side.
agree
He's not actually killed off. Noir has clones of himself. And the actor confirmed that he will return as a new Noir in Season 4.
Although Homelander is a fantastic villian and very well written, his powers have been somewhat inconsistent, his strength and speed should be greater than everyones as we've seen in previous episodes, but here in the finale he seemed weaker.
I guess you can make some poor excuse that he was afraid of getting his son killed by collateral damage.
What are you talking about he was clearly holding back and trying to leave not fight.
"yada, yada, yada,"
A lot of things were missing, the script is kind of poor for me. Instead of watching SB and Homelander fight, we watched Meave and Homelander? Finally we see Starlight fighting and...... flop! She is building her power 5 minutes to push Soldier boy few inches? What would Thanos say: "All that for a drop of blood?"
The scene in the lab, while Kimiko kills one soldier, the other is literally waiting to attack him too, targeting the Frenchie for half an hour.
This season's writing was pretty jank ngl
Agreed
Only real plot movement is the team found out who the Headpopper is, and Homelanders realising he can do whatever he wants and still keep Ryan and the right wingers on side.
nah butcher didnt do whatever it takes he obviously pussed out in that fight by teaming up with his priority #1
It wouldn’t work like it did in the comics where they could just hide the clone from him right next to him as a teammate. Also I really don’t see them doing that direction anyways cus it would just be far too predictable for anyone familiar with the comic which now that this show started is a lot of people
I was incredibly disappointed by the finale ,very little changed from the start of the season , its not quite filler but it feels like they used this season just to move pieces around for the next season
the whole season is filler based on this episode. everyone lands in the same spot they were when they started. this is pathetic.
@@harlepas not entirely true things happened this season and changed. Just not in the boys favor. No one ended where they started.
@@harlepas Edgar is no longer at Vought. Maeve is depowered and off the show for the foreseeable future. Black Noir has been killed and will probably be replaced with the character he was in the comics and thus be the contingency for Homelander going forward. People now openly know HL is a douche and a large portion have accepted him as that. Kimiko and Frenchie are together now basically.
It was like a Simpson ep. Nothing changed other than Black Noir is dead but what did he really do anyways ?
Don't need him to lose power...he couldn't even beat Maeve......
Major L on someof these takes wtf💀
The Maeve escape was way too convenient for me. You're telling me that Vaught, the entity that knows everything about every super hero, did not properly detain and escort Maeve? Yea, seems a little far fetched to me.
The blast and fall should have killed her. Why did she survive with just some broken bones? Crimson gets roasted, others get vaporized but she just has some scars??? What?
@@Revan-eb1wb This is also true but I think I just overlooked it after the escape. It definitely sours the episode a bit. Overall, it was good but I wouldn't put it at a 10. I agree with OJ at 8.
@@willo1345 disagree. It heavily spoils the episode as all the dumb choices in this finale. 8 is still to high. 5 or even a 4. The episode was really bad
@@Revan-eb1wb Eh, lowest I'd go is a 7. There were still some good things in the episode. Definitely a weak finale for me but not the worst I've seen by a large margin.
@@willo1345 cannot give it a 7. Too highm to naby stupid moments. There were only 3 good moments. Homelander talk with ryan, sb talk with butcher and a train with his brother. The rest sucked ass. Ir also sucked how starlight says that hughie was 100% wrong and she was right. I thought the point was that both make mistakes. But nope. Just hughie. Starlight is right and hughie totally useless
RIP Black Noir but he was kinda pointless as well and I was really looking forward to him doing some cool shit.
OJ: "Right back to square one."
Me: "That's what I said!" :D
Seth Rogan was more busy injecting present day "messages" than actually writing something good.
agreed 100% my friend.
I thought the action was very meh for me. The Boys has always had very below average fight choreography for me.
My biggest peeve was Noir’s resolution. I thought the final fight had one too many conveniences but the build up to Noir and Soldier Boy was nice. Their subverting expectations I think worked well when Homelander kills Supersonic offscreen, but here with Noir did not seem right at all.
I'm not a comic reader but he's not dead there's no way they'd end him like that
@@CHIEF__ No one's ever really gone.....
None. Nobody is surviving that nothing about it was tame

they are not real critics thats why
Me thinks joe is a partner on the low
Same. Everything almost stayed the same. No impact. And what happened to soldier boy calling Homelander in ep 7. And then in ep 8 he acts completely different

Good season throughout but the finale was underwhelming and kinda fell flat on its face. So much setup but no payoff in the end.
I’m team Soldier Boy, he’s the only one who followed through with the plan. He had to sacrifice his son but Butcher wouldn’t sacrifice His wife’s son ??
Same. It made Frenchie and Kimiko’s suffering against that mob lady are useless. They would’ve been pissed off at that point
like he said to Butcher "You're even weaker then he is""
The writing of Soldier Boy's character was very inconsistent. It's like every other episode a different writer had an idea how they wanted him to be.
he wouldn't have died just no powers. Isn't that what Butcher wants for Ryan to have a normal life, who cares if he gets in the SB ray, makes no sense to me
@@BedbugGaming butcher and starlight too. Both of em in previous season wanted Homelander more than anything but this season " bUt SoIDEr BoY bAd" or my favorite " nOt ThE kId".
I'm kind of wondering where they're gonna go with Soldier Boy in the future, because despite everything, they still haven't convinced me he's worse than Homelander. They almost had me convinced they might go a redemption arc with him since we never see a flashback of him killing MM's family and the worst stuff he did could be excused as a Winter-Soldier-brainwashing/PTSD.
For me he is redeemed
@@kylekid10 he was an asshole, ok sure. Butcher is far more of an asshole
@@kylekid10 Black noir liking homelander over SB doesn’t mean he considers him less of a threat. Black noir is self serving. SB regularly abused him, and so he hates him more.
And since when was soldier boy racist lol when MM was putting the gas mask on him 😂 maybe I missed that part
Season as a whole, 8/10, with the only episodes that weren't great-badass being episode 1&8.
agreed.
I'm really surprised Alex didn't bring any of this up. Normally Alex is the rational one with the good takes.
True words
@@jamesblack102 Alex is always complaining bruh sometimes he does have a point and other times…
It’s an amazing season of television, but the finale was a bit underwhelming for me. Still, one of the best seasons of “comic book show” TV ever.
Honestly this, Daredevil and Invincible are the best comic book TV shows ever made.
@@BedbugGaming Yeah the finale missed. It’s just a miss. A lot of things happen that don’t make sense and just other weird choices.
@@BedbugGaming feels like an executive saw how good the show was doing and decided to join the writers room
Invincible is better, but I do really like the boys as well
The finale robbed us of a Soldier Boy / Black Noir confrontation, made Kimiko back into a psycho, showcased Starlight as useless and weak and didn't give MM any kind of resolution either.

Same bro. This episode was the biggest let down for me
Very nice, man.
Butcher have parenting problems
i agree, the kid is a fucking liability and they should have allowed soldier boy to delete his powers and homelander's powers. at least with soldier boy they have ways to take him down, but now with ryan and homelander they don't have shit

Plot Armor

SPOILER ALERT:
- Maeves ending was good.

Exactly what i thought. It really made the whole season seem like a waste of time
I also feel let down by this episode, and the season in general, many characters are way different to the comic versions at this point, between many reasons. Sneakily going back to the start means you get to have a "free" season to sell.
Exactly. It was by no means a terrible episode, but nowhere as good as the other episodes
Well not entirely.

2.) 1 Member might be gearing up to betray homelander.
3.) A member of the boys dying.

5.) Soldier Boy on ice, but controlled by the Gov (probably to keep homelander in check)
6.) A mini homelander turning evil.
7.) And a radicalized guardian of MM's kid.
Part of the issue with Noir is that they made him so much different from the comics they don't have any material anymore. My only thought is that next season that bring him back but its actually a different Noir that they pretend is the original one, like he never died, and that Noir is the clone.

I was under the impression that Black Noir had regenerative powers like Deadpool, but I guess I was wrong.
Yeah I mean he cut his own arm open earlier, and withstand basically a nuke in s2
Considering he didn't recover after his head got bashed in by Soldier Boy, I think he only has healing abilities; not regeneration.
@@izilladkilla that's what regeneration is...
3. Boring characters
One of the reasons I liked this series was because the character were not whiny little kids crying about their problems all the time.
4. Boring story arcs
If you look at other reviews you will see that most people just don't feel like series moved forward in any way.
5. Very, very, very dumb propaganda
To understand my point you need to understand what propaganda is.
Well put
A+
@@Ryuksgelus while the reference to civil rights marches is legit, I don’t think the phrase “moving on up” is automatically a reference to Goodtimes.
He’s literally a variation of Captain America.
I had some issues with the finale but comparing it to GOT it’s a hilariously edgy take
I understand the Finale was not that great, but GOT was on another level of bad
Can't believe Alex, of all people, saying that this is better than Herogasm. This episode was the worst written episode of this season. Butcher was so set on using Soldier Boy to defeat Homelander, then out of nowhere, betrays SB because of Ryan. Butcher could have EASILY just moved Ryan out of the way; problem solved. Compared to almost everything else on TV, this show is absolutely amazing, but this episode did stick out like a sore thumb. It seemed The Boys is just back to square one.
This entire season felt like a waste.
> Out of nowhere protects Ryan
Ehm... yeh you're weird. Ofcourse he would stop Soldier Boy from killing Ryan.
Yep they completely missed the mark witht his review. Joe was really praising the writers for this episode like wth? Talking about how they are talented writers, this episode left a bad taste in my mouth like they resolved everything in the most annoying way possible.
@@bdasaw joe is not a true fan of this show it took 3 seasons for him to say Homelanders name right
@@paulallen1916 It really does feel like not much of significance happened.
How could Maeve survive the fall from the building without powers while Kimiko almost died from hitting a wall? 🤔🤔
Plot armor
Didn't Kimiko have a giant metal bar stuck in her abdomen though after hitting the wall?
They can't kill off their gay female character. Couldn't give her character a meaningful sacrificial death that actually would have been a moving scene and a good way to say goodbye to her. Why are so many writers scared to kill off main characters? It gives the stories actual tension making you wonder if the main characters will actually make it.
@@BlackBruceLeeTheGreatDekuTree i think so. But i dont know anymore
@@cskelseyjr I mean black nior is confirmed coming back to season 4 too.. so technically none of the 7 died this season...
I'm the opposite actually. This final ep was one of the worst! 👎
1. Noir did nothing.
2. Soldier boy wasn't going after Ryan, he just knocked him out. So butcher could've just moved him out of the way and continued with homelander but nope smh 🤦♂️
3. Maeve took a shot point blank and didn't unalive. The blast only makes supes powerless! Only one in danger was hughie, mm and frenchie, whom Maeve didn't care for. So why did she feel she need to push soldier boy out of the building?! 🤦♂️
4. Ryan was raised by his caring mom. Youre telling me one incident made Ryan forget his loving origin and all of a sudden he's siding with pure evil? Smh 🤦♂️
- maybe others I forgot.
I just realized I don’t think I’ve ever seen Alex laugh even one time. I’m trying to imagine his laugh in my head after seeing him just smile when the Joes are laughing and I couldn’t conjure any memories of hearing him laugh.
Holy shit u Right I don’t remember hearing Alex laugh lmao
he pretends to be a macho. he's just a basement dweller like AJ and OJ but he doesnt want to admit to it
He has laughed in some streams.
He laughs like Homelander , I bet.
I had some problems with this episode but thematically i loved it, and im ready for next season and expanding upon everything they have teased
The elephant in the room is starlight's face. I noticed that her face was airbrushed throughout the entire season. Maybe she had some work done or there was some bruises they were trying to cover up. It just felt really weird every time they showed her face on screen.
kinda anoying, yes.. the makeup on her was TOO much ALL THE TIME.
The show has been great, but this is the worst episode. The payoffs were weak, the decisions were bad. Bad, underwhelming ending.
Soilder boy / Black noir confrontation should have been an amazing climax to the season, Butcher just giving up on Homelander was just bad writing, and Metal makes Homelander bleed apparently, now he’s just a regular Sup
IVE BEEN WAITING ALL WEEKEND FOR THIS
Mave surviving the blast and A train not doing nothing were low points for the episode.
I would assume if they grabbed Ryan Homelander wouldn't just wait for them to kill him , but I might be wrong
It's kinda inconsistent with how strong they are, so Homelander can easily put his hand through another strong sup like Noir but not break the wall when he throws Maeve or SB at it?
then we would get the MoS complaints... i forgot about the no way home spinebuster through multiple concrete floors
EXACTLY the power scaling was so incredibly dumb this episode
I was really enjoying the escalation of the season until this episode. I'm sure the next season and beyond will be good but I kinda wish that this was set-up to be the big finale. A ton of character arcs could've resolved here in a satisfying way, but instead we got a ton of backpedaling. Felt like a family sitcom level of resetting characters how almost everyone ends up in relatively the same place at the beginning and end of season 3. Black Noir got done dirty, everything else was just a bit less up to par than usual.
Seriously. Reading the comments is more satisfying than hearing AJ and Friends awful review
Honestly the first time I disagreed with the Crew, felt the finale was pretty disappointing and felt off. Amazing season though
@@normaaliihminen722 I guess when they said Homelander was to be better in everyway that also included the outburst killings
If I saw the holes in this episode surely he did as well and him giving such a positive review honestly tells me they were paid off
His 9/10 did not seem genuine.
This episode had alot of writing issues and honestly threw away alot of its set up just to set up season 4.
1. Black noir got treated terribly they were setting up a fight and they kill him before he does anything
Black noir finally gets a character arc after being a blank slate and what's that character arc?
Turns out Black noir is just a coward and never got to redeem himself
Even running back to homelander was cowardly move.
2. Butcher knows he's running out of time and this could be his last time taking V
Finally has homelander where he wants him
This whole show he wanted homelander dead but becsuse fucking Ryan was there he changes his mind and backstabbing soilder boy, it would of been better if soilder boy sided with homelander and back stabbed them but no soilder boy held his end of the deal and got fucked for it.
3. Queen maeve should of died
Her character arc was done
She saved the day and kicked homelanders ass a little bit.
I dont think anyone would of been disappointed if she died there.
If she can come back there's no reason they can't bring Black noir back she fucking exploded.
Overall I enjoyed this season but the season finale of season 3 was the first time the boys disappointed me
I hope throwing away everything they set up for season 3 was worth it and that season 4 is a even better season.
I'll keep watching its not the end of the world
But yes I found this finale quite lacking
agreed
Yeah I agree. I was surprise Alex didn't bring anything up....maybe they are paid off....sad
not only did she explode, the explosion deleted her powers and she fell like 50 stories. she should be a fucking poster on the sidewalk after a fall like that(even with superpowers i think she would have at least been injured after a fall like that).
The final battle was kind of a letdown; all this build up and everyone turns against the other😒. And killing noir like that isn’t acceptable😞
Gut punch ehh ehh ehh lol
I think he's the only one who felt gut punched there.
It was not only for how unstable and unpredictable Homelander is but promoting the idea that an important characters life can end mid-arc.
i dont get what people are crying about that nothing changed, when it seems like a fair amount has changed.
the deep: committed treason in killing a senator, will most likely be blackmailed or discovered in the next season, or he will defect for good
a train: after his talk with his brother, he will finally also do the right thing by leaving homelander
black noir: either fully dead, or will comeback in some manner and help against homelander as well
queen maeve: either she earned a happy ending, which she deserves after everything shes gone through ... or come back to help in some way, and being a human without powers, might die for good
starlight: has fully left vought openly. also growing in power, perhaps will continue improving her powers after her fight with SB
homelander: openly kills people now and is loved for it, and continues to train his son to grow in strength, and with SB locked away for the moment, more unstoppable and incredibly more dangerous than ever.
butcher: has now a hard time limit to his mission and will most likely die from his disease.
hughie: learns to trust and work together with starlight
SB: is most likely going to be used to create a way to finally kill or stop homelander. maybe killed himself
i think the writers couldnt/didnt want to kill off too many characters in this fight because the show will run for at least 5 seasons. i think they left the door open for characters like maeve, SB, butcher, homelander, and everyone else at the fight because of how much more story points they want to hit before a BIG finale fight. the boys comic ended with practically EVERYONE dying, im sure the ending of this show will have quite a few deaths as well. however, there is still some time to go before we get there. no point in killing main people off yet.
Butchers manipulation on soldier boy to kill his own son really backfired on him.
I was INSTANTLY taken out of the show when Butcher started attacking Soldier Boy over Ryan. Homelander could have been DONE and the only thing The Boys would have to worry about is the new head-popping vice president.
I think black noir will be back, maybe as a clone or he just somehow survived the attack by Homelander.
the writers confirmed he's dead
@@CaptainDope fuck, the clone theory stands though... Maybe...

This version of Maeve is op !!! She was throwin hands with homelander and survived the soldier boy explosion plus the drop frm the skyscraper .
She would have lost to homelander though, he was mostly focused on saving ryan
Yeah the second part didn’t make sense… but she specifically something like,
“I can train all I want - all I can do is land a few lucky hits” that line alone sold how much of a unit Homelander was.. but he got kind of fucked up
@@firstlast9846 yeah soldier boy and Butcher could only bruise homelander and she straight up gave him a nosebleed

They hated that not one of the OG Stranger Things characters died in season 4 but then when even ducking Maeve survives here they don’t bitch anywhere near as much about it. Wtf, at least ST4 has Eddie dying.
Was pretty mid. A lot of it didn’t make sense. Noir was done dirty. Ryan BRUH
Is it just me or Homelander is actually kinda weak, he's supposed to be the strongest hero and invincible but they manage to win against him so easily. The fights are so stiff and underwhelming too.
Without his super strength homelander is nothing 🤡
He is powerful, but he isn’t a fighter. He is like if a celebrity had superpowers.
Weird how people praised the action this season when everything was shot and edited in such a amateurish matter
I kind of wanted a post credit scene just showing Maeves launched bottle of Novichok landing somewhere random
Yeah, the show kinda forgot about it.
Was thinking what B list character it could kill off 😄 just smash over the head of Ashleys assistant Ashley or something
