    Hey folks! Just to clarify, the section about Flite Test was a joke. All the names that left did so on their own accord, not because Flite Test doesn’t care about them.

      Yes, I have come to learn not to take all things said here seriously. It's a comedy channel.

    This is the most humorous RC channel with talented sticks to boot! I get a dopamine boost watching each episode. Your one wheel landings are the bomb!

    LMAO. I totally agree with the gyro, I've told 3 people if you need it to fly use it and have fun. Don't worry what the other guys say about them. Or that I've never had one. You have been flying for 50 less years then I have, and I've crashed more planes then your likely to buy in the next 10 years. Do what's fun for you.

    • @klikmaus
      @klikmaus ปีที่แล้ว

      Gyro is great for takeoff/landing while you get comfortable flying the sky, flipping out for testing your wings without once you're airborne. Over time, you use assist less and less until you don't need the handicap any more. I've gone from lazy 3 channel toy store models to cheapo online 3 channel models to the Volantex 4 channel models. The small volantex models taught me the most with model RC, particarly with cross-wind landings, rough landing strip surfaces, and how to bring in a model for emergency landing (flairing out for a stall settle-in). I'm still perfecting my tail dragger landing technique per scale but I'm not trashing my planes or props

    This is what the hobby need now. Especially with all the FAA stuff happening now. Enjoy the process, try new things, as long as you are having fun, and help someone else out. The community is half the fun after all.

    Seriously, there are many [true] life lessons in this video - here are two of my favorites: "skill doesn't equate to fun" and "this hobby is whatever you make of it"
    THANK YOU!!!

    The $40 model turning into a $120 model felt like a personal attack against me lol. This year, my skill level reached the point where I truly learned "you get what you pay for". I finally upgraded to an Extreme Flight airframe and the proper motor/esc/servos.....I'm having a lot more fun flying instead of repairing cheap components. Excellent video with great advice!

  • @ParaglidingManiac
    @ParaglidingManiac ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I've donated a big plane with all the components to a local flight club where kids practice making their own in a class. The teacher was so happy and grateful, that I couldn't take any money from him (it was originally and ad for sale). Nobody ever got me a plane, but I sure did give some kid a cool one.

    This sums up RC better than anything I’ve ever seen. My mantra…. I never fly anything that will make me cry if I crash. I crash a lot and this is supposed to be fun. All the guys at my field with $6000 planes never seem to be having fun.

    Great video. So true all of it. I buy planes fly them until I crash them, fix the with glue and tape and when this works no more I get another. Accidents happen but I learn and now I am quite good at flying.

    Although I enjoyed this video, if you order the "right" cheap plane, they are fine! #1, MUST be EPP foam! Other foams are unworthy of a beginner! EPP or Nothing! #2, build that sucker right! Use the right glues for the job, and triple check joints, and check your center of gravity 20 times. #3, do a test glide!!!!!!!! Start with a LIGHT NO POWER toss in tall grass, adjust, and throw harder. When it glides FLAT and straight, you're ready to "consider" flying it. #4, I suggest starting with a 2 channel Glider. Super simple, super cheap (MUST BE EPP! Think flying Nurf) to get used to the controls Before going to powered flight. I just saved you months of anguish and a crap load of money. You're welcome. :-) and yes, this is how I learned to fly all by myself with no help. EPP bounces wonderfully. Seriously, start with a 2 channel EPP glider and beat it ragged to learn the controls.

    What a good video to make. I know more than anyone that there’s a deep desire to become good at something you love, even if its just toy planes. But its impossible to even kinda get there unless you’re focus is on fun! And thats for either flying or building. I once found myself barely flying and constantly building, retuning, retrying things and starting over because I jus wasn’t confident. Focusing on fun was a recent change thats been all the better for me. (Tho it helps that I have a little bit of scratch to work with now lol)

      Your lack of confidence is still symptomatic of fear of failure, embarrassment or criticism. The hobby is based predominantly on flying, the more the focus is on ancillary pursuits the greater the chances are that an unaddressed deficiency exists. I'm not commenting on why the deficiency exists but what is disappointing is the extensive narratives that people generate to attempt to conceal the deficiency. Developing a skill often isn't fun, and may involve loss and perceived pain,, but it is a goal, which many people lack in their lives, and surmounting the obstacles is beneficial for most people.
      Our species can only survive if we have obstacles to overcome. You remove those obstacles. Without them to strengthen us, we will weaken and die.

    Wall of text incoming!
    I don't GAF about what other flyers think of my flight skills (well I kinda do) but when I hnonestly screw up, I own it. Botching a landing due to too steep of an approach, yep. Got too careless flying too close to a cinderblock wall... NAILED IT. Having a bird bigger than my model attack my model, didn't see that coming. Leson learned (situational awareness), while flying our RC planes we gotta stay on our toes to keep them flying. From evading preditory birds to RF dead zones, it's far more tricky flying RC than flying a conventional personal aircraft first-person. Been there, done that.
    In my view and experience, a skilled RC pilot can fly a Cessna first-hand with little difficulty but an experienced Cessna pilot would be far more likely to crash an RC than a skilled RC pilot would be to crash a first-person personal aircraft as long as they know the controls. Call me biased but i've been in both worlds, flying first-person is by far easier than third person flight.

      @TailHeavyProductions  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @klikmaus
      @klikmaus ปีที่แล้ว

      Dead-on. I started flight lessons in my teens in a cessna, when I moved on to RC it was a completely different world. There's a huge difference from being at the yoke first person to flying 3rd person several hundred feet away with perspective inverse controls. It's not so much a matter of life and death but a matter of if your $1k + investment survives for the next flight and if you don't cause damage or hurt someone when you bring the bird down. On my end, luckily I've only bashed my own planes avoiding otherwise bad sutuations. Paramotors really should be required to have transponders.

    • @mxracingunlimitedltd7784
      @mxracingunlimitedltd7784 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only thing that has stopped me from picking up one the Durafly Tundra's is the fact that its so close in price to say a carbon cub s2 BNF. Unless i cant find it or I have to wait but its around $250 and its out of stock in the US so its coming from the EU. So im thinking because of that there might be shipping costs too and wait a few weeks to get, plus basically no support or warranty, but i havent really looked into that tbh.
      I like that it has a ton of leds from the factory and would be an awesome plane to have for where i live and even though i have a carbon cub s2 its definitely not as new as it used to be so i wouldnt be against trying one lol.. Did they go on sale for black friday?

    Hobbyking may suck, but so does eflite. Bought a umx timber x and had to repair the flimsy hinges b4 the first flight. The aileron was about to fall off. Foam Tac is the best. I have 30 flights on an FMS Super EZ, not one problem.

      The Hobby King jab was a joke from what we all know to be a stereotype in our industry. We've had new in box planes from every brand show up with one issue or another over time.

    I do have a lot of planes hanging on a wall and could probably never afford all the radio gear it would take build all the ones still in boxes even if I hit the lottery. But it’s just lack of time not afraid to crash them.

    The end of the video, warbird bush flying is the next trend. But seriously, do you guys wonder about some of the hobby king models? I really want a Tundra v3, but they are always out of stock. You should do a thing on them and compare it to your gold standard funcub ng. Its apples to oranges, but its still a good video. Or get one of theor other models, they have some really nice stuff and the prices are better than eflite.

    Good video, my friend. One thing I have to argue about is if you don't want a broken plane, don't buy an eflight . Yes, nitro engines require a lot of attention, and yes, my engines cost more than a plane. The smell. And the sound draw me to them. I do have an electric four star 64 four though, because every nitro guy knows th.ere is a chance of it not firing. I absolutely love your videos. Please keep them coming. You people are awesome

    Okay I have to say it. I order a lot of stuff on Hobbyking and I never recieved anything broken. The only thing was a motor which broke after a few flites but they sent me a replacement and since then I never had a proplem again. So If you wann pay more for the same quality you can stay with with eflite, fms,.... And if you want Something better build it yourself :) (If you want Something worse buy the flitest pnf beaver)

      @@TailHeavyProductions Yeah to be fair E-flite or fms or whatever is probaply A little better then Hobbyking Planes. It's just when I was younger Hobbyking was one of the only things I could afored besides used planes so I just sticked with Hobbyking cause I still don't wanna pay 600$ for a foamie. But yea just have fun with the hobby I like spending all my money in way to expencive balsa planes some people want to fly awesome looking expencive foamies and some people just fly their easystar and tundra and still have a lot of fun. Really enjoy the Videos Btw :)
