Demo - With and without a damper
    • Yamaha Performance Dam...
Performance Damper is meant to keep the bike frame from flexing when encountering a bump, and the weight of rear luggage from contributing to the flex of the frame on a bump. The animated video by Yamaha-link in this video description section above-explains it well.

    Post-install first ride impressions:
For city riding, I did not feel any difference in the ride. I felt the same handlebar and seat vibrations as I did pre-install. I sped up to 40 m.p.h.
While going over bumps, I felt the bike was a bit stiffer, but I do not know if it actually was, or if I just felt that it was, because that is what Yamaha’s demo video demonstrated that it would be. Perhaps it was just a biased psychological feeling.
Based on the high-cost of this mod, for city riding, I would not recommend the Yamaha Performance Damper, because there is no noticeable difference in the ride. I have not ridden it on a highway above 40 m.p.h., so I am not in a position to comment on that.
We either trust Yamaha, or we do not. There is no in between. If we trust them, then we also have to trust them for what they demonstrated in their video. See the video Description for a link to the demo.
If money is no object-and for one’s passions, it usually is not-for the cool 😎 factor alone-which is totally dependent on each individual’s perception of what is, and what is not-I have no regrets on adding this mod to my bike. I think it looks cool 😎. 😉

Looks 👌. I have a feeling this will be a very worthy upgrade.

Raj, thanks for posting this video and your commentary about the Perf Damper. I'd be interested to read/hear periodic updates and comment from you regarding your impressions.

Throck, thanks. Once I start riding again in a month or so, specially off-road, I will have a better idea as to how the PD affects the ride, and will then provide feedback. It is too cold at the moment in the northeast to enjoy a ride.

Did you install it on your XT250/Serow, or did you install it on some other bike?
Did it have a wobble prior to installing the Performance Damper?

@@RajReviewsDualSportPhotoGadget Yes I did installed with my XT250, and the performance was awesome, and by the way my shock absorber was changed as well with OHLINS another awesome upgrade.

      Thank you for the update.👍
Please post a link below to the OHLINS shock absorbers that you installed. Thanks.

I searched all the sections for motorcycle products at the OHLINS website, but did not see XT250 listed under Yamaha.

Will this fix the death wobble I've experienced at 65+ mph?

    Just looked this up...
The Performance Dampers is a completely new technology developed by Yamaha Motor to improve chassis performance. When the chassis is in motion, it limits dynamic distortion to just a few microns. ... The Performance Dampers adds a damping element to the chassis that absorbs distortion energy and releases it as heat.
I bet if you go over some big bumpy stuff you'd notice a difference. Maybe look for some speed bumps and go over them a bit fast? Might reveal itself then?

Thank you for the above description.
Will look for some pot-holed roads in the coming weeks.
Early next Spring will be our next group ride in some forest with gravel roads, and/or some rocky “drivable trail”-meant for Jeeps-like we did at Bald Eagle State Park, PA, a couple of weeks ago. That would be a good test.

@@RajReviewsDualSportPhotoGadget I agree with you regarding Yamaha's engineers knowing what they are doing. I think you will see the benefits of this part off road when the bike frame is under load and stress or hitting irregular terrain. Regarding bike vibration I think that is just the nature of the beast on smaller CC bikes. My Honda CB500X even has vibration. To the point my big engine crash guards and skid plate make buzzy vibration noises at certain rpms. I've heard of certain smaller CC bikes having engine counter balancers that might tame vibration. But from what Ive ridden from Kawasakis KLR650, KLR250, Super Sherpa, Suzuki DRZ400SM and to what I have now... the Yamaha XT250 is no worse and in most instances better vibration wise.

Neutral, I'm not disagreeing with you, but is the PD any different than any other shock absorber, simply applied to the bike's frame? i.e. an oil filled cannister with baffles that slows the rate of vibration through fluid dynamics?

Raj - this looks really cool. I have a 2022 XT250 and I would imagine it would fit my bike, too. So you ordered from Japan webike and they shipped to USA? I'm in GA and considering this upgrade... Any issues with the shipping and ordering? Also, any new riding impressions lately?

    • @RajReviewsDualSportPhotoGadget
      @RajReviewsDualSportPhotoGadget  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Jack - No issues whatsoever with ordering and shipping from Japan Webike. I believe I received the order within a week, once it was shipped.
Unfortunately, I have been a bit lazy lately, and have not touched my bike since my ‘post-ride first impression’ description for the video on 21st Nov. I do plan on several un-exciting local street rides between the Christmas and New Year holidays, weather permitting.🤞
      Congratulations on your 2022!👍

You'll DEFINITELY have to let me know how you like this part just so as I know if I should buy one or not... check out my new post 😉..... I never got over that 😢 emoji you posted way back when I broke the news I had forsaken my XT250 previously.

I just saw your video! Wow! (have commented; have been following your channel). Regarding the emoji, it was for real; I felt a bit alone seeing you let go of the bike. The news of the trade in was quite shocking, specially after all the effort put into the upgrades.
I have not ridden my bike in over 40 days, since the first ride after the PD install. I had big plans to ride it during this past week b/w Christmas and New Year, but got super lazy, and the weather did not cooperate either (an excuse). Yes, will for sure let you know if I notice anything more than I have already posted, i.e., regular street riding up to 40 mph. Btw, "Made like a gun Ride like a bullet" has commented below that he noticed the wobble was gone at 120 kph/75 mph.
