What a time to be alive during the 2010’s Underground we had Pro Era, Asap Mob, Raider Xlan, Odd Future, T.D.E, Dreamville
Flatbush Zombies too
And then the ones from New York were all beast coast
Funk volume

what an era
The way the group were explained, they were essentially the new era Wu-Tang Clan
Joey wishes it was 1994 fr stuck in a past he didn’t even experience
I feel they were more like Native Tongues
I wouldn’t really call it falling off, their friend died & he was the glue to keeping everybody together so naturally they all grew apart after his passing
The argument could be made that the whole "Pro Era label" thing complicated things further, but everyone still makes wonderful art so it's all love.
@@Inhaleblackexhaleblue idk if it's still all love Dirty Sanchez and Nyck Caution seemed to diss Joey on a single called "Way "Out" by Dirty Sanchez

"Capital STEEZ is the KING AUTHOR of the group" ... eye see you...good shit
aint even used a pen in like a month or four...

@@blacksandstereo on sum 47 shift🗣️
The 2:47 time stamp is very "coincidental"
PE in their prime was something else. So much great energy from some amazing souls.
The jing energy was high back then naturally goes down with age
Nyck Caution mad underrated. I'll still check for anything he releases. I still want that King Capital tho. That Escape from New York album is massively underrated, y'all should listen to that for sure.
nyck, cj, kirk recently, etc. all steady dropping heat those along with the rest of the beast coast
Anywhere but here was fire bro
@@liamwhisprs big facts
If Capital Steez had not tragically passed away, he could have potentially been recognized as the greatest rapper of all time. His talent and innovation surpassed even those within his own group.
Pro Era can never officially "fall off". They are way 2 talented & continue 2 keep real hip hop alive. I do understand the missed opportunity but Capital Steez passed, R.i.paradise, he was the glue of the group.
as an artist who grew up in East Flatbush, Brooklyn Pro Era truly inspired in a real way. Will never forget seeing them at Highline Ballroom in 2013.
You explained the whole reason the beast coast didn’t blow up as much as it should. Mumble Atlanta rap took over for the young generation but the boys have kept their name relevant with shoutouts from Kendrick and JCole
Those cyphers were so insane
Love the history you are documenting. Just gotta say A La $ole switched his name to Aaron Rose. Same dude.
Oh shit I’m dumb! Good catch lol
since you've touch on Pro Era, I think it's worth having a video about the two other groups from the Beast Coast movement
I love “Packs” by The Underachievers
*4
As a new york 🥷🏾 I concur
@@cheesepuff8317ain’t no asap mob in beast coast my friend
@@heirnwt4779yes there is
A girl I met in 9th grade showed me Flatbush Zombies. I went home & searched for more & that's how I found Pro Era & The Underachievers.
Shiiit now I gotta go put all those songs on again
Rest in Peace King Capital Steez.
This music is what shaped me. Them, underachievers, Flatbush, ASAP, Raider Klan, TDE, Clockwork Indigo.
Remember my buddies and I would get high and drunk to all these albums and be in awe listening to the wordplay and the production. Flatbush and Underachievers were excellent performers, especially Flatbush.
My friends and I were outcast cause nobody gave af about conscious rap and the underground, but without the music I probably wouldn’t be the adult I am today without that whole movement. They also had tons of influences aside from hip hop which expanded my musical taste more further such as Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Coldplay and I went even further and obscure from that. Also the movies these guys would recommend. They had it all the style, the influence, the positivity despite their personal and external problems.
Loved being a part of that shared collectivism that happened at a certain time.
My middle school years! Great Video my guy
The good ol days! Thank you man 🤝
Dope documentary. Being a teenager around this time made my HS experience perfect
The beast coast tour was an amazing time saw them in Toronto and it was insane even though Chuck Strangers and some others were missing
Man!! My heart literally DROPPED when he expressed STEEZ'S demise 😔😔.. The anguish of that young mans heart.. I pray for the peace of all those effected by his passing
I was 14 when I discovered pro era back in 2012. They had such a huge impact on me. They have always held a special place in my heart and they always will. Idc if they supposedly fell off they never did to me I never left lmao. RIP STEEZ. PS if yall don't know, chuck strangers is making some of the best shit out rn check his new album forsaken lovers plea. His growth is beautiful to watch. Best out the crew these days.
Pro Era had a huge impact on me growing up. Played Peep the aPROcalypse all through-out highschool. I stopped keeping up with PE members after awhile but a few months ago i went through all their individual discoraphies and man im so proud of how much they've grown with their music. Nyck Caution though 🔥
T'nah Apex (now just T'nah) is highly underrated as an MC and could have made waves along side Jean Grae, Rapsody, NoName, Ill Camille, etc. if they teamed up. She does pop up and still works with CJ Fly on projects.
Eye appreciate you for this video, Pro Era isn’t talked about enough nowadays n’ how it was a big mark in Hip Hop, Every rapper in Pro Era were amazing lyricist, Especially Steez, I miss him so very much, besides Hip Hop and rapping, Eye believe Steez would’ve been a revolutionary, I mean maybe, a mind like his must be so sporadic. Yet he spoke in such a rational subliminal way, really a person Eye look up to.
Rest In Peace Steez, Progressive, Productive & Professional Era forever, 47 Til’ Infinity.
Well said
I believe STEEZ was on the cusp of changing the world with his art.
DUUUUDE!! I'VE BEEN WANTING A DEF GOLDBLOOM VIDEO ABOUT KING CAPITAL FOR A WHILE NOW!! THIS SHIT IS BOUTTA GO HARD ASF I JUST KNOW IT
As a teenager in Venezuela; Pro Era was my Wu-Tang!!
I was born in may of 1999, started listening to Joey and beast coast in early 2013, met the zombies Kirk and nyck in 2018 on my 19th bday, then met everyone on the beast coast album a year and 3 months later on the beast coast world tour. All the people mentioned in this video are a huge reason why I’m so into rap music and without them I don’t think I’d be anywhere near as into music as I am today. 1999 is easily my favourite album of all time. Rip king capital and really hoping for some new beast coast music soon
December 21st & 24th of 2012 are days i will vividly remember for the rest of my life because of Pro Era. #LOMGLIVESTEELO
The PEEP album is still in my rotation today i will never get over that man
Facts
These vids are amazing keep pushing out the dope documentaries the world
Needs these ❤❤❤
Chuck strangers is the hardest one now. Dirty sanchez is right behind
They killing it!!
Pro Era will always be remembered and for some, deeply cherished. 1999 was the first Joey album that caught my attention.
Chuck strangers is still doing his thing very underrated my fav out of the group was always Dessy hinds he never really got that shine like some of the other members
Dyemond Lewis and Dessy Hinds had a lot of promise. I do agree that a lot of the group members not capitalizing on the peak of their movement for sure stunted their growth long term. Im sure there were politics involved as with anything but I appreciate these cats heavily for the art and lifestyle they shared.
Found out about them through 1999 from Joey Bada$$. Found it by accident on the year it came out while in highschool and became an instant fan.
What made Wu-Tang successful was RZA's vision for the group and the outline he laid out for the solo projects until their second release. Pro Era, Odd Future, Raiden Klan among others went with flow.
Best group hip hop rest peace king capital. Love you miss you
Backkk on my 47 shit.
Every member of Pro Era release dope music to this day, with varying frequency.
Rokamouth and Dirty Sanchez will always be my favorite, besides STEEZ.
that latest Cj Fly tape been hard as hell
CJ been killing it!

Been waiting for someone to cover this topic!
I discovered them through Joey Bad A$$ when he was on the BET awards cypher.
Summer 2016, when I found Joey from his feature on Denzel Curry's Imperial album, then I found 1999, then AmeriKKKan Korruption. The rest is history.
Sad how that generation didn't appreciate them enough 🔥💯
Thank you for this!
great work !!!
Great video as always! Please make a video about Elzhi!!!
Thanks for this one def 🔥
🙌
Lovely Documentary fr , long live Steelo
It was sick to have been in grade school during the era of Pro era, Asap Mob, Odd Future
Miss these dudes fr
You forgot the Aprocalypse. That tape was essentially all members going ham together
Great video, long live STEELO!
Wake up babe, new Def Goldbloom
They really got me into real rap music
We can’t forget Nyck at Knight! Classic tape 🔥
Love is Forever♾️
Thanks man, time for this old head to do a deep dive.
Man I love Pro Era 👑47👑
Yo my dude would you Make a video on Cage? A true underground legend
yoo, I'm still listening beast coast, guys u should check last projects from Chuck Strangers, they are something unreal
dope
Its the same thing that happened with ASAP Mob once they lost the heart of the unit the unit which was never as united as ppl thought lost its traction Yams was the one for Asap Mob and Steez was this for Pro Era the connector once those guys died the faces of these groups ( Joey Bada$$, Asap Rocky ) just went about THEY own way and did they own thing and from what i hear neither really rap anymore yeah joey drops something here and there but him and Flacko are mainly mainstream celebrities it's the game it happens that why i will always listen to this music no matter the circumstances its a huge part pf my life
Pro Era/ Beast Coast Movement was a way for everyone to get on they did that not all but the main ones became successful in their own right & of curse Joey was always the star of that group
"just remember ALL CAPS when you spell the man name"
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This shit made me cry
Beast Coast 4 Life.
rip steeze ❤the illest
A La Sole is Aaron Rose
👀 SEE, The thing thats makes Wu Tang the most successful (hip hop) group today, is because they have an owner (Rza). When it's just a group or a movement the logo (brand) doesn't end up having a strong foundation. You have to keep your rights and ownership sealed tight. And also, they had waaaaay too many people in the group. Rapping is a business when money is involved. You gone split with 40 men?
BEEEEEEAASSSSTCOOOOOAASTTT
That's why he's the goat... the.goat
Aaron rose is a la sole though
King capital!!
aaron rose and a la sole are the same person bruh
Drop the king capital album
RIP Steez Happy belated 30th Joey Badass and I actually went to college with Dessy Hinds. He was Ight tho but not all that in the group. Steez died too early. 93 till Infinity.
R.I.P. Steez
Whats the beat that plays at 5:23 ?
Great video you covered and touched on a lot but the only problem is you skipped over joeys 2nd and 3rd albums All Amerikkkan Bada$$ (2017) and 2000 (2022)
Love those albums but they don’t have much to do with Pro Era. In a video focused on Joey all his projects will get their due 💯
As much as I enjoyed their music back in hs, I am glad Pro Era ended. Their music was dark. They promoted occultic, esoteric, and new-age teachings.
“If you dont plan on controlling your soul, than what you in it fo? it's intricate tho
To be this intrinsical, it may seem like we occult but we ain't mystical
You missed the show..”
you missed that whole line huh lol
@@kamaalabstract That's what they say but there actions says other wise 🤷🏾♂️
@@kamaalabstract he actually has a point because STEEZ's death was linked to such ideas like that
Because people in 2013 and beyond became super lane
A la $ole and Aaron Rose, aren’t they the same person?
They are! I made a mistake
A$AP MOB & Tan Boyz are BEA$T COAST as well
What’s the intro songs title?
RIP STEELO #47 shit
Missing tnah apex rapping
My guy you do know that A la sole & Aaron Rose are the same person right???
Just fixed it 🫡
Always dope def! Thanks for using beats my guy 🫡
Thank you for providing the dope sounds!!
🙏🙏anytime def!
Big up Capital STEEZ!
