Tyler’s first three projects were cringey and too set on shock value compared to his later works.

I think he's great but he can't be the leader of the new school for 3 very big reasons 1 he is far too old to be a leader of the new school and 2 he is too underground and inaccessible to mainstream listeners and 3 Bill Woods and ELUCID were doing that sound way before Earl and it was Billy Woods that influenced him to make the change for SRS. Milo (now R.A.P Ferreira) was also doing the whole Lo-Fi/slow flow thing going like a decade before Earl did. I see your point though.
