funny story about that I had the same thing happen this girl moved before I could ever hope to tell her she's now getting married so I'm listening to David bowie and come across "the hearts filthy lesson" and what do you know David starts singing Paddy Paddy the name of the girl I'm fixed on haha its pretty funny its almost like he knew or something

I'm devastated ... he was the greatest artist of all time ... He was my idol ... a unique star whose artistic legacy to the world is immeasurable. He contributed to Music, Fashion, Sexual Liberation and Style like no other. He redefined how people thought and lived. I am sure he's planning a total makeover to the place where he is now. Thanks for everything David ... so many people are going to miss you so much!
Wherever he is, lost in streams of sound, Mars, or heaven, we miss and love him and wish him nothing but our Man Who Fell To Earth the best after being with us for 69 years.
Why isn't this top comment? No we got "He knew he was doing to die" instead. He was a young mortal man covering a song and very well might I add... But Come on people! Wow
I remember watching this with my mom before she passed away, and she was like "He's crying" oh if only i knew how much she was crying inside. It was one of the only things I shared with her. Showing her my love for bowie but never showed her my love for her. If only i knew..
So beautifully dark and moving. What a performance. The nuances in the voice, aided by the haunting piano and naked guitar work, it all works great.. Bowie was a master musician and performer.
I agree. I don't think there are many rock stars who could sing a song like this the way he did, either vocally or emotionally. It was really impressive. He was so much more than "just" a rock star! What a talent.
Makes me cry I miss Beautiful Bowie every day I never met him he is my god always my Hero never be anyone that will come close to him Rip my Beautiful Starman love you always Thank you for all your wonderful songs you live on in mine and many others hearts forever ♥️
"And in front of that door... there is..." "ME!!!!!!! ME!!!!" The way he smiles and says "thank you", it's like he could feel how much we all loved him and wanted him to be OK.
God, that part is so haunting. I get chills every time. The way the piano closes out the song and the frantic clapping is so eerily theatrical that it reminds me of the end of a performance in a vaudevillian cabaret.
One of the best songs he ever performed. It connected with me on an emotional level when I first heard it and it connects just as strong today. I never knew you David, but it's like you were always there with me. I wish you luck on your journey back to the cosmos. Farewell.

R.I.P. dear mr Bowie. I know that the angels awaited you behind that door.
God, You don’t understand how much I wanted to go to this concert.
Bowie at his best.
Such a born star! He must be a really bright star above our heads.
I stood directly in front of him and he looked at me as he sang this song. I had never heard it before and it was very eerie. Winterland SF 1972.
He played an acoustic guitar and used a book of paper matches for a pick. It's how he got that sound.
My death waits like an old rou?
So confident I'll go his way
Whistle to him and the passing time
My death waits like a bible truth
At the funeral of my youth
Weep loud for that and the passing time
My death waits like a witch at night
As surely as our love is bright
Let's not think about the passing time
But what ever lies behind the door
There is nothing much to do
Angel or devil, I don't care
For in front of that door, there is you
My death waits like a beggar blind
Who sees the world through an unlit mind
Throw him a dime for the passing time
My death waits there between your thighs
Your cool fingers will close my eyes
Let's not think of that and the passing time
My death waits to allow my friends
A few good times before it ends
So let's drink to that and the passing time
But what ever lies behind the door
There is nothing much to do
Angel or devil, I don't care
For in front of that door, there is you
My death waits there among the leaves
In magicians' mysterious sleeves
Rabbits and dogs and the passing time
My death waits there among the flowers
Where the blackest shadow, blackest shadow cowers
Let's pick lilacs for the passing time
My death waits there in a double bed
Sails of oblivion at my head
So pull up the sheets against the passing time
But what ever lies behind the door
There is nothing much to do
Angel or devil, I don't care
For in front of that door, there is you
