Yes, this is such a great performance, at once general and intimate. And that ending - perfect! it really shows the bond he had built with his audience.
I just had a very strong reaction to this video. It made me start crying due to David's death. What an amazing performance. He also left an amazing catalog of music. Every album has at least two great songs on it. 🩶
This song really brings out the actor in him. He was always able to convey the emotion of a song, even those he didn’t write. This is maybe my favourite live performance by him. It’s captivating.
This song always brings tears to my eyes. David’s beautiful face and dramatic voice are one of a kind. He has such a presence on stage. I love you beautiful Starman❤️
One of the things in my life that I am thankful for is David Bowie. I was in my mid teens when I became a Bowie fan and 50 years later still listen to his music. The videos are a huge bonus when listening to him. Such an incredible, talented and awesome human. ❤
I was a teen in the 80s so had to discover his previous work, I'd stand at the album section for ages, flipping through them all and wondering which to buy as they were all £4.49. I decided to go in chronological order, which ended up giving me the same journey as those of you lucky enough to have been born a decade earlier than me, but in a more concentrated time span. The way he could change directions from one style to another between albums was something I don't think anyone has done, or done so completely and perfectly. By rights, we should all be scratching our heads and saying "eh? You what? " as he took us from Diamond Dogs to Young Americans, but it was Bowie, and it worked and it was delicious and I couldn't get enough. He definitely got me through some tough times. A true artist, he was brimming with creativity.
The voice that opened my horizons in the music, I'll never forget that. One of the most iconic artists in the music, thanks for all, and you, thanks for read. #ForeverBowie
No one will ever come close to his authentic beautiful performances on stage and off. Miss him, loved him for years - thank you for sharing. To see his face on my big screen so close and feel those lyrics always wrecks me in a good way! Starman is so missed 🌟❤⚡
Originally Sang in 1967 by Scott Walker (So even more Amazing), Like "Amsterdam", another of Bowie's covers. Both Bowie's versions are unparalleled of course. But the lyricist is Jacques Brel for both songs, a magician in music.
Es una lástima que a esta restauración le quitaron el breve intercambio entre Bowie y la audiencia: "Be quiet..." siempre me pareció un momento magnifico del concierto.
So poetic and beautiful. No special effects that would taint it. Expressional and clean voice. The only thing I'm against is "Angel or devil, I don't care". I do care. May God give him eternal life.
Lovely! This is amazing. Is there a version with David saying "be quiet"? I love when he does that, it shows how important it's the performance to him.
Yo no creo que viva ya (o sí)... pero llegará el día en que el mundo va a reconocer en Bowie al mejor artista de todos los tiempos de manera absoluta, indiscutible. No tengo dudas.
My death waits like an old rou? So confident I'll go his way Whistle to him and the passing time My death waits like a bible truth At the funeral of my youth Weep loud for that and the passing time My death waits like a witch at night As surely as our love is bright Let's not think about the passing time But what ever lies behind the door There is nothing much to do Angel or devil, I don't care For in front of that door, there is you My death waits like a beggar blind Who sees the world through an unlit mind Throw him a dime for the passing time My death waits there between your thighs Your cool fingers will close my eyes Let's not think of that and the passing time My death waits to allow my friends A few good times before it ends So let's drink to that and the passing time But what ever lies behind the door There is nothing much to do Angel or devil, I don't care For in front of that door, there is you My death waits there among the leaves In magicians' mysterious sleeves Rabbits and dogs and the passing time My death waits there among the flowers Where the blackest shadow, blackest shadow cowers Let's pick lilacs for the passing time My death waits there in a double bed Sails of oblivion at my head So pull up the sheets against the passing time But what ever lies behind the door There is nothing much to do Angel or devil, I don't care For in front of that door, there is you
The echo of this song in Brian Molko's style, did anyone else ever notice that...? It strikes me every time. Maybe I just dreamed that, anyway, it's a wonderful dream, the idea such a legacy exists.
We miss you...every day.
So true
💯
One of the most beautiful performance, rest in peace Starman, I love you Bowie ❤️⚡

Sí era el rey 👑 y pacífico lo quiero ❤️❤️
❤
Man, that low shot of Bowie while signing and strumming his guitar is so iconic.
Just a bit,
Over used word
I don’t trust people who don’t like Bowie. Now Ziggy”s floating through the universe.
and he still steals our hearts. he was truly special.
Like we steal the hearts of animals literally
that omission of the final "you" -- the audience -- was brilliant...
Nobody has been able to adapt to diffrent song styles/personas like Bowie could. Such a legend that we miss every day
I was fortunate to see Bowie in concert in the late 70s. I remember the ticket price was $14.75. A concert I will never forget. ✌️❤️
Same here - that was abt the price of a CD iirc, and more than a spinner/album.
I first saw Bowie on the Isolar tour in 1976 in London, the ticket price was £3.75, still got it.

Wow. Simply masterful. He had such a hauntingly beautiful voice.

Yes, I was a bowie fan in the 70s++, but he never flinched from the human condition. Angel or devil - he don't care. He faced his demise.

I love all the upgraded performances.
Such an amazing, affecting lyric of love and mortality by Jacques Brel, and such a wonderful performance.
Oh Bowie - shining out of my phone on a wet grey morning. I do love you in such a pure and easy way - you make life better ❤
Sang in 1973. David Bowie was so ahead of his time

My death waits like an old rou?
So confident I'll go his way
Whistle to him and the passing time
My death waits like a bible truth
At the funeral of my youth
Weep loud for that and the passing time
My death waits like a witch at night
As surely as our love is bright
Let's not think about the passing time
But what ever lies behind the door
There is nothing much to do
Angel or devil, I don't care
For in front of that door, there is you
My death waits like a beggar blind
Who sees the world through an unlit mind
Throw him a dime for the passing time
My death waits there between your thighs
Your cool fingers will close my eyes
Let's not think of that and the passing time
My death waits to allow my friends
A few good times before it ends
So let's drink to that and the passing time
But what ever lies behind the door
There is nothing much to do
Angel or devil, I don't care
For in front of that door, there is you
My death waits there among the leaves
In magicians' mysterious sleeves
Rabbits and dogs and the passing time
My death waits there among the flowers
Where the blackest shadow, blackest shadow cowers
Let's pick lilacs for the passing time
My death waits there in a double bed
Sails of oblivion at my head
So pull up the sheets against the passing time
But what ever lies behind the door
There is nothing much to do
Angel or devil, I don't care
For in front of that door, there is you
Legendary performance
Memory To him

EXCELLENT .!!¡...😊
💀 amazing song 💀
masterpiece
Well prior to the unstoppable of death is life. Live it and you will not worry about death. The passing time will go well. This is all we have.
